Zen V Plus FM radio ran

I find , that my Zen V Plus FM Radio range is 76MHz ?- 08Mhz, but in real it is 87.5-08MHz. To have 76-90MHz FM range I need change player language to Japanese (only). When you change language to Japanese, in FM menu is additional menu to change ranges 76-90 or 87-08.Why this menu don't exist in English (any) language? So, to have full range FM radio we need learn japanese or wait new firmware. :robotvery-happy:

Only Japan uses frequencies below 87.5 MHz
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FM_broadcasting
So probably it's no bad thing to have a Japanese menu if you want to listen to stations in that range...

  • 1GB Zen Nano Plus player stuck in Radio mo

I have a GB Zen Nano Plus player. I use it every day, have since I got it 2 yrs ago. It has the radio feature. I switched it to radio the other morning and now it won't switch back to my mp3 music. When I push in the scroller to go to the menu, it takes me to the Radio menu and locks up. Won't scroll up, won't scroll down, can't up or down the volume, can't even turn it off... I have to remove the battery for it to quit. I have no clue what's going on. I connected it to my computer and formatted it....didn't help. Went here online and got the firmware update drivers....didn't help. I can still load music onto and play it while it's hooked to my desktop, but I can't use it any other way than radio when I'm using it solo. Any ideas?

Make sure to reflash the firmware in recovery mode (see instructions on Creative's support website), and also let the updater format the data area. If that doesn't work it's probably a hardware failure, I'm afraid...

  • Fm radio problem and speakers zen nano plus..

. Why does my zen nano plus automatically turns of when i use the fm radio even if it has full battery?
    2. Why does my zen nano plus automatically turns of when i connect pc speakers even if it has full battery?
    I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try reloading the firmware for your Nano Plus - that sorts out most problems with these players. Go to Support, Downloads and choose MP3 Players, Zen, Nano Plus. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.

  • Zen V Plus firmware wishl

I could not find a wishlist for the Zen V / V Plus, so here it is.
Plain and simple just like the other player wishlists. No questions and no discussions. Just topics with firmware improvements for Zen V / V Plus. Hopefully, the Creative developers will see this.
The Zen V Plus is a great multi-function DAP, almost perfect for its niche. It only needs a few improvements.
A list in order of importance to me (most important first):
) Improve the current bookmarking mechanism by saving the current playlist along with the current audio track position. Currently, if you are listening to track number 0 out of 20 tracks for an audiobook and save it to a bookmark, restoring that bookmark will restore only the one saved track to the current playlist. You have to manually add back the other tracks to the current playlist.
    2) When powering-off on a paused audio track, the Zen should power-on paused to the same position in the audio track. Currently, the Zen V powers-on paused to the beginning of the same audio track. I listen to a lot of audio books and track position is important in a power-on resume.
2a) Option to treat an album as continuous audio content so that a rewind started in track 6 will back into track 5 continuously (in other words from the beginning of track 6 to the end of track 5 and so on). This is very important for listening to audio books.
    3) Add FM tuner radio recording.
    4) When scrolling a long list of songs, the scrolling should accelerate.
    5) The lower end of the volume scale in terms of loudness should be quieter. I listen with high sensitivity IEMs at night and level one is too loud.
    6) Audible.com tracks should be in their own album named Audible. Right now they fill up the Album selection list. I have about 40 Audible.com tracks on my Zen V Plus and about 20 music albums. The Audible.com tracks clutter up the album list.
    7) When configuring the menu, unchecked top level items should move into the EXTRAS menu. In other words, unchecking PHOTO would move it into EXTRAS.
    8) Option to backup all Zen V settings and radio presets to the PC.
    9) Allow charging of the Zen V from an ordinary (not Win XP) USB port or from an ordinary USB charger.
    0) Add a sensitivity (low and high) option and/or an AGC (auto gain control) option to voice recording for close and distant recording.
) An option to select all tracks EXCEPT speech tracks like Audible.com tracks, podcasts, and audiobook tracks, so that Shuffle mode will play only music. This might be done by having a setting for genre exclusions (speech, audiobook, podcast, and so on)
    2) A fade in/fade out option.
    3) A configurable HOLD option (lock all, not volume, not play/pause, not both).
    4) Scheduled FM recording.
It would be nice if the Zen V Plus could play compressed video, but I presume that with a small battery and low power processor, this is not possible.Message Edited by IpaqMan on 2-05-200609:2 AM

Glad this form is here. I was considering buying a Zen V Plus. I currently use a zen nano plus to listen mostly to audible books. My complaints:. Can't lock it so that if it's sitting in a purse it sometimes accidently turns on and then keeps going until it sues up the battery2. You have to scroll through everything on the zen nano plus in order to get to the book you want to listen to.I thought I would change to the Zen V Plus but am very concerned that you can't rewind within a track. Iuse that a lot and don't want to only be able to go back or forward to a a chapter or track. I tried using a Sandisk Sansa?c40 which had this characteristic and it drove me crazy and I went back to my Zen Nano.
I 'd like a player that has a menu so that you can choose the book or music you want to go to from a menue - withhout scrolling , but that allows you to rewind\fastforward inside the book by the second. ANy ideas? Thanks?Message Edited by lisamp3 on 05-0-20072:26 PM

  • Zen V Plus: Software barrier against installing US firmware on european devic

Well well... After the "display darkening devil" caught me, I just decided to buy a new player because I need this thing frequently when I'm on the road. Now I've got a Zen V Plus but there is a DIFFERENCE. "Sure, the FM Radio!" True, but there is another one. I was able to use US Firmware (the one without the 'e' at the end) on my Zen V (without PLUS) when the display was still functional. But now I get "Upgrade Failed!" error - so am I right that the PLUS version checks for EU devices and denies installation of US firmware (NB: The US version lets you make the thing a bit louder, because it does not have to comply with brain-dead EU rules system.)

I have a ZVP, and you can change firmware between US/EU/Asia versions. There is no restriction.
In order to remove the EU volume restriction, you have to delete the existing EU firmware before upgrading, otherwise the (e) does not go away. I guess it is stored in a different part of flash which is only cleared when you delete the firmware, rather than just running the upgrade executable file.
    ***WARNING***
DO NOT delete your firmware unless you can successfully update the firmware without deleting. Try it first and make sure it works BEFORE you delete the firmware. Otherwise you could end up with a ZVP shaped paperweight...
For info on how to delete firmware see the 'Recovery Mode' sticky at the top of the forum.

  • Hooking Zen V Plus up to sound system

    Hey there,
I briefly went through your FAQ and couldn't find anything related to what I want to do. Though I am sure someone has already asked this question. So sorry in advance...
I have a party coming up and I want to hook my 2GB Zen V Plus up to my sound system. I know that this is possible with I-pods (though I have no idea of the leads I need for it or anything) and I was wondering if someone can point me into the right direction of how to do this.
Thank you very much.Message Edited by _sagira_ on 0-25-20082:0 AM

You can buy or make a jack that has the headphone jack on one end, and the other end rca jacks, or whatever the inputs are on your stereo. Plug it into CD or Phono or whatever inputs are available on your stereo. Try different inputs to see which sounds better or has the correct volume, as the inputs may differ.
If you search online you may be able to to a cable made for this. Either that or go to a radio shack or look through extra cables you may have and make one yourself.

  • Zen V Plus/WIN 98

My regular computer (WIN XP) is being repaired. I just bought the Zen V Plus today. Can I charge it using USB on WIN 98 SE without installing software to just listen to the radio? or use it to download from my regular CD player? The store?I bought it from (Best Buy) unfortunately didn't have the power charger for Creative products which was disappointing. It says in bold letters do not plug in without installing software first and I know that won't work on Win.98? But too impatient and want it charged NOW!!?Thanks for any help you can give on this. I am afraid I will blow out the dri've if I just plug it in for charging purposes. Thanks again,Gina

    Hi,
I have a similar issue. I am using Windows 98SE (but I have not a XP computer to be repaired, me !) and I do not find an application for my system. I would set my Zen V on 98SE, does exists an older version of application/driver ? I think you have found it, Gina, could you share your source please ? Else, has someone else an idea to can transfer files on a Zen V?thanks to?an other installing program than the one which is provided when we buy this player (only an XP CD) ?Thanks?PS: Chris679 has already post a message on this board, without answer.Message Edited by EureKa on 0-0-200704:57 PM

  • Mass Storage Drivers to save Zen Nano Plus...[HALLELUJAH SOLVEDDDD!

Okay, my Zen Nano Plus was working fine until about two days ago, when it just started shutting off. The battery was full, and I switched batteries three times, but it still wouldn't stay on. I looked through the forums, and there was advice to update the firmware. [I had ..0] I downloaded it [.3.03], and ran it, but then it said that it couldn't find the hardware for the software [or the software for teh hardware?] and I didn't know what to do, but the computer [or whatever] decided to disconnect the Nano from the comp, so there was no firmware on the player at all. And now it won't turn on.
So I looked on the forums for THAT, and it was advised to download the Mass Storage Drivers, so I did. Only I don't know if I'm supposed to double click the icon and execute the program before I do the whole "push play before connecting the player to yor computer and continue holding play for ten seconds" thing, but I did, and I don't know if I was supposed to do, and somebody please help meh because I love my Zen and if he dies I am going to die as well. And be really bored during my classes.
Also, I am running on Windows ME.Message Edited by rubyandrest on 0-29-200708:4 PM

Dude...i have been a loyal customer of creative for years....i just updated my firmware on my nano plus and my zen shut down....no reset...nothing. i sent an email and i recieved a generic email about paying for contact help. they have lost a loyal customer and i am telling all of my friends to never buy a creative product. mine was fine and then i saw a firmware upgrade and thought, "wow, this would be great". then after installing it is useless. no help from creative at all. i have always had soundblaster cards and creative speaker systems so i figured id get their mp3 player...now i will never patronize their company again. go get an ipod. i am on payday! they will probably delete this post and deny me access to the site after this, but i am a marketing management major and this is a big No No for companies that wish to stay around. Creative will be gone in a few years if this is the service they offer.

  • Zen V Plus freeze on file trans

To whom it may concern,?I'd like to preface this post by stating that I'm very experienced with computers (I build?systems for a living). I've tried my brand new Zen V Plus on 3 different computers and am experiencing random freezes on each one. My family has?2 iPods, a Dell player, an iRi'ver and a Disney Mix Max between us. I have never had ANY problems uploading and synching with any of these players. I've also plugged-n-played several of my friends players -- never a problem.
I just spent 4 days (about 20 hours) trying to get my Zen to not freeze. I have?tried?EVERY suggestion on?ALL the forums and Creative's troubleshooting pages. I also have a bunch of my own?diagnosing tricks?up my sleeve. When my Zen freezes, I can only access the player by formatting. When I reload my files, it randomly shuts off, and freezes when it tries to re-build the library after a reset. To say I'm dissapointed is an understatement. I did a lot of research and the Zen seemed like the perfect player for me. It hurts to post this, but I hope future owners having these problems will read this and realize not to waste their time. Sincerely,a future former Zen V Plus owner?

Hi jimmyboy88,? I am familiar with the reset hole.
Is Creative aware that you are posting a link on your site that suggests users disassemble their players and void their warranties? As a professional troubleshooter, this is unacceptable. After resetting, my player freezes when trying to re-build the library. According to Creative's support pages, this would suggest corrupt data. Only after I reformat, I'll try to re-load the file that it froze on and it will load and play fine. It will freeze randomly on any file. And why do my files load perfectly on 4 other players and 3 other computers?I've upgraded the firmware, made sure I have all the WinXP updates, Creative software updates, tried 0 different USB ports among 3 computers, made all the suggested operating system tweaks, tried 4 different USB cables,? and ran some USB port diagnosing software. The fact is, the Zen V plus will randomly freeze. Sometimes it freezes at 2GB, sometimes at 2 MB of data. Once the Zen freezes, I reset, and it will hang on re-building the library every time. In recovery mode, the player will hang when I try to Clean. After I re-format, I'm able to gain access again and load files, but it freezes every time I try to load it up again. I have many years experience troubleshooting hardware & software. In my professional business, I would never?spend so much time on one unit. My only conclusion is that it is a firmware problem. I would take a look at the code and see what the problem is, but I'm not on Creative's payroll. On a more positi've note, the Zen V Plus looks like it would make a nice doorstop.

  • Zen V Plus locked up - is there an emergency reset - it won't even power d

Is there a way to reset the Zen V Plus. Mine is locked up during processing of a line in recording, I think because I must have connected to the computer before it was completly done processing and converting. It won't even power down. Is there an emergency reset or do I just have to wait for the battery to run out? Thanks,Phil

Jason,?Thanks, it just ran out of battery though, so I'll recharge it now. Turning it upside down and setting some weight on top of it to keep the toggle pressed so the screen would stay on helped it run out of battery faster, not very neat solution at all though, so I'll try the reset next time. Thanks,Phil

ok, I will tkae that under consideration. Now I have another battery issue, after fully charging the MP3 player I noticed that the battery life drain rather quickly while it is off. I lost 9% of it's charge from taking it off the charger at midnight and then plugging it into the usb port of my computer the next morning at 10:00am. The clock is turned off so it should not be doing anything for those 0 hours.

  • Zen Stone Plus S... SLOW-FF speeds...ANYO

I owned a Creative Labs Zen Nano Plus, before my dog used it as a chew toy. I then purchased a Creative Labs Zen Stone Plus S (2GB with speaker), which I love. I clip it in my hardhat at work and listen with the speaker. My old Nano would FF through a 5 hour long mp3 in a couple of minutes. I record the Howard Stern show from a Sirius Satellite Radio Online Subscription and put it on my CL Stone Plus S.
Anyway if I bump the settings and have to go back to the halfway point, it takes FOREVER to FF. The FastForward feature is soooo slow. Is there a fimware update or setting to increase the speed? It dri'ves me absolutely crazy. To get to the third hour of a fi've hour mp3 it takes 45 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas or info?
    Thanks, Mrwirez

) I have a similar yet slightly different problem: on my zen stone plus (with speaker) I can rewind, but when I FF the behaviour is actually the same as if I were pressing the rewind :smileysurprised: Anyone have the same problem? This is really bad for long files, like podcasts and also when I update the player (i.e. adding and removing files) which 'forgets' the previous playstate.

  • Zen V plus tuner prob

  • BIG problem with zen v plus 2gb mp3 player HE

i just brought my zen v plus today for 83 gbp i was scrolling through the radio channels and it decides to freeze on me i cant take it back because it was at abu dhabi airport any know how to sort the problem out? contact me on +44792328937 or post on here. thankyou

Hey. Have you tried resetting the player. Under the power switch, there is a tiny hole. Use a pin or paperclip to gently push in. The player should turn off, and rebuild its library when turned on again. You should also upgrade your firmware, available here. Just click on support, and go to downloads.

  • Problem with Zen Nano Plus--Please He

I just bought a GB Zen Nano Plus about a week ago. It worked fine until I had to change the battery. Now every time I play the mp3 music it automatically shuts down. I messed around with it and I figured out that every time the backlght shuts off, so does the player. It only does this while playing mp3 music (I can isten to the radio for as long as I want). This is pretty wierd because when I use the battery that came with the player, which is almsot totally dead, it doesn't do that.
If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it, please respond.
