Zen V plus line in recording with 10 minute tra

I just purchased a zen v plus specifically for recording certain programs using the line in recorder. The programs are generally /2 to 3 hours long. The problem I have is that the line in recorder breaks up the recording into 0 minute tracks. Is there a way to program or adjust the setting,so that it's not broken up into tracks?
Thanks

When you record a track, the recorded track is automatically named LINE followed by the date and time of the recording ( LINE YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS ). For example, if you recorded a track on March 5, 2004 at 2:57 pm, the track is named >LINE 2004-03-5 4:57:00 . You can just extract the recorded track from the player and rename it when you have it connected to your computer.

• Zen Nano Plus: Line in recording from micropho

I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and was very happy about its ability to encode MP3s from the line in jack.
Since the integrated microphone is not very good for recording (especially loud music) I tried to connect a microphone to the line in jack. Unfortunately I had to recognise that it doesn't record anything no matter if "Sync Track" is on or off.
I'd be glad if someone can tell me what exactly the problem is. Do I need some kind of special microphone (I read somewhere that it has to be "pre-amped", whatever that may mean) or is the line in jack designed for just recording from devices like a CD player? Help is very much appreciated. :-)

Big bump.
I did some research quite a while ago and thought that I should report the results for people also having that problem.
A line-in jack is not a microphone-in jack. The difference between them is that the former is not supplied with electricity, so it can't power simple external microphones on its own. Thus, a real microphone-in jack is needed, though none of the Creative products has one included. You will still need a pre-amped microphone to get recordings with proper volume, though. A good and cheap solution is the Archos Stereo Microphone that comes with a preamplifier including volume adjust (http://www.archos.com -> Accessories -> Audio accessories).
Microphone-in jacks can be found for example in the iri'ver iFP-7** and iFP-8** series. Since this players are discontinued and newer models don't have these jacks, it's kind of hard to still use that feature.

• Creative Zen V Plus Line In Record

Hi all
I am looking at getting a number of these for my workplace to use primarily as a line in/external mic recording device.
We have trialled a number of HD based recorders in the past; iRi'ver, Cowon but we have found the line in recording standard to be poor.
I was wondering if anyone has one of these and could tell me what the recording standards are like, especially regarding the volume levels of the line in recording?
The iRi'ver and Cowons both have line in recording but the volume level is so low it is pretty useless.
Thanks in advance
Tim

I use my Zen Nano Plus primarily for line in recording directly from sound systems. Line-in recordings are saved as MP3s and you can pick the encoding bitrate, either 96, 28 or 60. The recordings with the built-in microphone are saved as WAV files. I've found that for line-in recordings it's best to put in some headphones and check that the recording level (via volume control) is satisfactory. I've never used any other line-in recorders so I can't provide any comparison. Anyway, I typically use the free version of Wavepad to do an auto gain adjustment on the recordings. Hope I was of some help to you!

• Zen V Plus Line-In Record

I'm recording various shows on TV and Satellite radio by line-in audio recording. Can anyone tell me if the V Plus can charge and record line-in at the same time? If not, how long can it line-in record before the player shuts down? I have the Nano Plus and it's just too much of a drain with the AAA battery -- only recording about /2 hours before it shuts itself off.

it does not charge and record at the same time..
im not sure about the in-line recording battery life though..

• Creative Zen V Plus won't sync with Windows Media Player 11?

My Zen V Plus won't synchronize with Windows Media Player . I plug it into the USB, then an error message pops up in WMP that says "WMP has encountered a problem and needs to close" but if I just move the window aside WMP works fine. I then click 'sync" and it says "preparing to sync" but doesnt move beyond that. I have synced with WMP before, this problem has recently started occurring. I have all the firmware updates on my player, I don't know what is causing this problem.

• Zen V Plus Line-in micropho

Hi, i just got a Zen V Plus and want to use a microphone with through the line-in jack on it to record with. What do I need to look for in a microphone? It needs its own power source, correct? Is there anything special I need to look for in the power supply for the mic? Would something like this: http://www.zzounds.com/item--THKMIMAB0 do the trick?
Thanks,

I have a Zen Nano Plus. I purchased it for recording church messages. I run the cord from the line in to the church sound board. The recording is good, however, the nano sometimes shuts down during the middle of the sermon. What would cause this problem
? Is there a special setting or fix? Please help

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. There is no setting for this as this isn't normal behaviour. I'd suggest loading the latest firmware onto the unit and also checking the box "Format Data Area" when given the option to during the firmwares install.
The firmware is available from here .

• Zen Stone Plus 4GB - Hiccups / Skipping with new firmware 1.01

I upgraded my recently purchased Zen Stone Plus 4GB to the new .0.05 firmware a few days ago. Ever since, most (if not all) tracks will play for ~ second, then skip back to the beginning and play fine thereafter. The problem will recur when the next track begins, either naturally on its own or if I jump tracks. I did not notice this problem with the prior firmware .0.03 (which had some EQ issues for me--EQ adjustments weren't audible while being performed, only after applied as a whole), but have not been able to downgrade back. More than once, I have tried reformatting (as FAT). I have reinstalled the .0.05 firmware (including in recovery mode). I have tried turning cue/review on and off. Nothing solves the hiccup / skipping?problem. Again, nothing will let me downgrade back to the older firmware, either. Has anyone else noticed this with the .0.05 firmware? I know several people have reported date bugs already (which I noticed too), so I'm hoping it's just Creative still getting firmware kinks ironed out. I'm a?little worried that it appears the player is no longer for sale anywhere, despite being a brand new "release." Most of my mp3's are a high quality variable bit rate, just in case that might be impacting something.

Hi JLM, am running .0.05e fine and in fact listening to it at the moment. Is there anyway you can regress back to .0.03 to test your theory? Testing a bunch of 28k CBR MP3s is an easy thing to try also.Message Edited by BlueRobin on 0-02-200802:49 PM

• Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

Hi,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
5- What firmware version is your player at ?
Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
Patrick

never mind. figured it out!

• Line in Recording with Sblive 24

Can anyone recommend the right settings in the surround mixer, For good quality line in recordings? Right now my line in record slider is set at 70%, The line in is 70% and the master is at 70%.
Thankyou for your time.. shaiwill
Windows xp sp2
Sbli've 24bit

shaiwill,
If those volume settings work for you, then those are the right settings. I think one important goal is to set the volume sliders so that you don't clip what you're recording. Some people recommend keeping the volume below 90% to avoid saturation, by which I think they mean clipping, but it depends on the level of the source too. If you can replay your recording source and have the Creative Wavestudio or some other recording software with a volume level meter, then on a first pass you can monitor your recording source and set the volume so that you get all the highs and lows. Then on a second pass, you should be able to make a perfect recording.

• Line-in recording with microph

Greetings all
I have MuVo Micro mp3 player with line-in connector.
To use it for recording with microphone you need a pre-amped microphone.
I have one, battery powered electred condensor microphone, which I succesfully used before with MD-player (over line-in too). But it does not go with the Creative mp3 player. I do not know why?
Can you tell me if I need to switch an additionally amplifier between the line-in connector and the microphone or is there any other battery powered microphone to buy which will go with Creative mp3 player?
Thanks for any apply
Patrick

And that goes for playback too. No sound through speakers using the Line-in unless the red buttoned mutes are turned of in Audio Creation mode. That doesn't seem right. Playback from the Line-in should work from any mode. Am I doing something wrong?

• Nano Plus - line in record

Can anybody point me to the approximate voice recording time you get from the Nano Plus, from its 92 to 60 kps quality? I want to be able to record up to an hour at a time, and store up to four hours in total files (all through the line-in feature).
I could buy an Olympus voice recorder that offers file transfer for about $80, but for not much more money I can get a full-fledged MP3 unit.
I currently have a base 28 mb Creative Muvo I got free from Audible, and I'm hooked on it

Thanks but I've done this and it doesn't seem to have made any difference, seems to cut off around 40-50 minutes. Any other suggestions?

• Zen Nano Plus: Playing files recorded on my Nano Plus on my

The subject says it all - I bought this player specifically because I need to record conferences that I attend, many of which put the audio feed out over a low-power FM signal specifically so that people can record it & hearing-impaired folks can listen via radio.
My problem: Just got the player today. I've been playing with recording both voice and FM signals. I can play them back right on the player, but even tho they're in .WAV format, I'm unable to play them with *any* of the media players I have access to - RealPlayer, Windows Media, not even the one that came with my Nano. Nothin'.
Suggestions?
I'm using Win2KPro, if that makes any difference...

Good call. I just did a general search for WAV files on my PC, and RealPlayer can play them, just not the ones recorded from my Nano Plus. Oddly enough, when I plugged it into a puter running WinXP today, they played just fine. Real.com's suggestion thru their customer service site was to download & install Windows MediaPlayer 0 (which is what I used on the XP box), but my machine in my home office is Win2kPro, an MP0 requires XP.
Any ideas, short of getting a new computer? I'm in the market, but I'm not quite ready to replace yet...

• How do I monitor my 'line-in' recording with my Sound Blaster USB Mp3

I'm recording tracts of my band from a MD via line in. How do I monitor what's being recorded (in real time)?
Sound Blaster USB Mp3+
Thanks,
Mike

my problem seems similar to prior post.
I have attached Creative USB Sound Blaser MP3+ a.k.a. SB0270 to a Compaq Presario 700 lap top computer via its USB .0 port. I'm running WinXP Home with SR-2 update.
I have found that I CAN record audio using Creative's Wave Studio by first selecting "Line-In" in Microsoft's "Volume Control" software Options/Properties/Recording. "Line-In" then appears as the label on the record level control in Creative's Wave Studio. This was not the intuiti've choice as music fed in through a USB port supposedly uses the SPDIF (Sony Phillips Digital Interface Format). Selecting the SPDIF in Microsoft's "volume control" doesn't work.
However, although I can record the audio, I can not find any way to monitor the level of the audio while recording. When recording using Creative's Wave Studio, an indicator (lower left of screen) shows it is in the recording mode, but the level indicator is a straight line at zero / baseline. Furthermore, the input signal can not of been too small to be seen, because the graph shows nearly full modulation on playback.
How does one monitor the recording level while recording?

That would depend on what you are loading. If you are loading a very large file, or a lot of music tracks it can take ahwile but I find that one song only takes about 5 seconds to load.
