ZEN V (Plus) Track Detail View bitrate b

I have noticed, that bitrate of VBR MP3 files is shown incorrectly in ZEN V (Plus) Track details view. It looks like the bitrate shown is actually a bitrate of only FIRST MPEG frame not average of all track.
You can easily test this by looking tracks bitrate in Winamp file info and then look at the shown bitrate of the same track in your ZEN V (Plus) player.
I think it is a bit annoying bug and really hope that this bug will be corrected soon.
What do you think?
P.S. My ZEN V Plus firmware version is .0.03eMessage Edited by Bytec on 2-05-20062:08 PM

Hold down the "Back" button. A list of options will come up. The one at the top ("View All") is what you want.
For future reference, a lot of things seem to be done by holding down that button

  • Zen V Plus - Track Playing Order Prob

When? I rip a CD, put it on my Zen V Plus, then play the album, I can move through successi've tracks by moving the joystick to the right, so Track , Track 2, Track 3, etc.....
However, I've just tried ripping the audio from a music DVD, which involved manually setting the track numbers in MediaMonkey. Once on the Zen they play fine, but right joystick moves between seemingly arbitrary tracks, so Track , Track 5, Track 6, Track 3, Track 2, etc..... Any ideas why it's not behaving as expected? Is it using something other than the track number tag to determine the order?
    Thanks

  • Zen V Plus - Track viewing opti

In Music Library on the player, is there a way to view to go straight from "Artist" to "Tracks" without having to go through the artist's albums?
My Nomad Zen Xtra has the ability to do this with the option to "view by album" or "view by track".
That way I can pick an Artist, then view all the artist's tracks in one column.

  • Zen V Plus - track seek times completely screwed

When seeking within an audiobook track, the time index on screen will advance to whatever I command it, but the actual audio WILL NOT advance-- when I let go the joystick to resume playing, the audio picks up from right where I initially pressed the joystick!
This bug has manifested itself in the bookmark function too. It allows me to set a bookmark, but when I select the bookmark, it resumes playing from somewhere totally different than where I set the bookmark.
This is an mp3 format file, windows explorer reports it as 28Kbps file. If it is a standard bitrate and not variable, why should I be having this problem? Any ideas how I can fix this?
    thanks

I'll try to answer your questions:-. Using XP (home edition) SP 22. Using ZenV Plus, 2 gb2.a? Have used Creative Media, Windows Media Player, but prefer Overdri've Media Console (simpler, faster, great)3. Have never tried to load books from another computer.4. Do not purchase or rent books. I get them all from library.4.a. I have used Net Library but get most of them through SEO Library Consortium. That's where I downloaded the Overdri've Media Console software from.5. They are regular "audio" books, recorded on tracks. I have gotten some with as many as 3 tracks. I think the track sizes generally must correlate to the size/capacity of a CD.6. I believe they have all been wma format and they are "licensed" to you for a specific period, just like when you check them out from any library. I had the same problem with keeping up with the story line at first until I figured out the navigation and particularly the "seek" and "bookmark" functions.
Time bar:? The time shown on the left is the time that has elapsed in that particular track, and the time shown on the right is the time that is left on that track. Seek:? When you access the "seek" function, you then have to hold the joystick button to the left (back) or right (forward) position until you get to your desired?time mark on the bar. When you start it goes slow and the longer you hold it in that position, the faster it moves. As soon as you let go of it, it stops moving and if that is where you want to start listening, you push "in" on the button to start the play from that point. You cannot seek either backward or forward into another track. You can only seek within that specific track. Bookmark:? When you are at a point where you want to set a bookmark, it is best to pause the playback and then set your bookmark. When you select the bookmark function you will get a screen where you can set multiple bookmarks and you would use the navigation button to select the bookmark position you want to use. Then you would push the navigation button in to set the bookmark in that position. When you want to go back to that place in your book, you go to Music Library>bookmarks and select which bookmark position you want to go to. TRICKY PART:? Normally, you would see the Track # in the upper LH of the display, but if you are playing from a bookmarked position, the player will display the Bookmark Position # instead. The?name of the book will scroll across the display and show the actual track number, but depending on how long the name of the book is, your display may black out before?it gets to the track #. The time line at the bottom of the display will show your?position in the actual track?where the bookmark was placed. The playback will continue until the time line reaches the end of that track and will then stop. To?continue the book from that point, you have to go back to the track listing and start the playback on the next track. Navigation General:?If you push the?joystick button to the left or right?and hold it, while in any track or bookmark, it will almost do the same thing as seek, except that as soon as you let go of it, it will start playback whereas with the seek function, it will just stop and you have to push in on the button to start the playback. Also, just like the seek function, it will only go back to the beginning or forward to the end of that particular track. If you quickly flick the joystick button to the right or left, instead of holding it, it will advance to the next track, wither back or forward.
    Hope this helps some!

  • Creative Zen Stone Plus Returns First Track On Player After Recharge

? Hi Everybody... I didn't see this topic posted on another thread, but I wasn't going to read thousands of posts to get this answer either. My problem is I own two players, one is a Creative Zen Stone and the other is the Zen Stone Plus. My Zen Stone does not return to the first track on the player when I recharge it (it remains on the same track), but the Zen Stone Plus does. This normally wouldn't be a big deal, but my mother-in-law listens to audiobooks. Sometimes those books don't have seperate tracks which means there is a single track that runs for like 6 - 8 hours. Is there a way to allow the player to pick up where it left off? It is a real pain to have to fast forward through most of an audiobook, especially when my player (the less expensi've player) continues where it left off. BTW.... Letting her have my player is not an option since hers has a display screen and mine doesn't.

So, reading the forum, it seems we have seroiusly problems with charging.... I'll try all I've read: disabling "energy conservation mode" on USB root, using an USB powered hub as Battery Charger, updating the Firmware, formatting / resetting the player and then using cml and the led to charge it to the full. I hope it solves, at least for me.... ?

7Zen Stone Plus Returns to First Track When Recharged?Y Hi Everybody... I had originally posted this question several months ago, but I didn't receive a response.

I haven't seen a download for this, so I'm wondering if it's something that can be fixed or not?

For future benefit to others, I'll answer my own question: No, the Zen Stone Plus should not lose it's place when plugged in for charging or adding files. I just purchased a second Zen Stone Plus, this time the one without the speaker and it remembers track location after charging.
Good thing I'm RMA'ing the first one!

  • Zen V plus "unknown error" while transferring tracks - "Player is busy&qu

I recently bought three players, 2 Zen V players ( and 4 Gbyte) and oner Zen V-plus player. I transferred music to the two Zen V player without problems.
When I try to transfer music to the Zen V-plus player, I can only transfer one or two songs and for the rest of the songs I get the message 'Unknown error'. It seems that the player is busy in transferring data, however, the automatic synchronisation is off (I can see that the player is busy because the display on the player shows dotted lines.....not very technical, but I am no expert....)I already installed the installation CD again. Transferring music to the Zen V players still goes without problem...

Unfortunately, I haven't the player right now. Because of this problem, I bring it back to my retailer sooner this afternoon, it will be send back to Creative. I will recover it later.
But I remember that I can transfert WMA DRM files with Windows Explorer (I think I hadn't any problem with any of them) but by this way, the license is not copied and the player can't read the file.
(And I can copy the 4 problematic files on another USB storage device)

I am able to transfer photos, songs, and videos. I can listen or view them with no

I have the Zen V Plus, 4 gig. I try to transfer songs to the player but it the

I have tried to drag and drop, add media, and use the "Fill Up Player" with the same

    space when I transfer.
    Thanks

Was just curious, was trying to establish whether it is a possibly DRM bug (on licensed) music or some other kind of bug with the unit. I have moved 450 songs total to my daughters Zen V Plus with out a problem, but its all ripped music from her music collection. So was thinking it might be a DRM issue of some kind. (Microsoft has released a ton of patches for DRM issues related to the transfer of music, am in the process of trying to document them all and post it later tommorrow.)?On my daughters Zen V plus I have all here music organized into folders:Artist->album->songI organized them that way on the PC before I copied them over. (MP3 Files, not WMA's)?I don't have a large enough collection of purchased music off the web to do any testing to see if it breaks when trying to transfer DRM protected music.
Could be something like a folder limit for number of files in one folder? Not sure, just trying to throw out ideas to help track down the problem, and help people get it solved.

  • Zen Nano Plus: I can't get my CDs to play in original order...He

    Hello. I'm new here.
I got a Zen Nano Plus 52 mb a few months ago. Installed the software on my computer. I'm not very computer literate.
Here's what's frustrating me: I can't seem to listen to my CDs in their original order.
) I put a CD in my computer
    2) Whether I view the track list in Windows Media Player or in the Creative Media Menu the track list appears in its original order as seen on the CD.
    3) I "rip" the CD to my Nano player.
    4) When I disconnect the player and go to play the album the tracks are all mixed up and not in the original order anymore.
I've tried some different things but nothing seems to correct the problem. I'm hoping someone can direct me what to do. I'm very confused, as I don't understand much of the computer terminology I read.

As in other response, the Nano Plus does not read ID tag info for sorting (it does read part of the tag--song name---only for display while that song is playing). Tag info typically includes the track number. Windows Media Player plays tracks in order of track number contained in the ID3 tags. The Nano Plus only sorts by filename. You can rip your tracks in a format that is prefixed by the track number (for filename). This can be done in Windows Media Player and other programs. Somehow you ripped tracks without the track number first (which would solve your problem). You tracks should look like "0-Come Together-Bealtes.wma" or something like this. This is the FILENAME, as you would see in Windows Explorer. The track info is not visible in Windows Explorer views. You can see it from Windows Media Player or Creative Media Source Organizer, though. Other players like Zen Micro and Touch sort tracks and build the library database on ID3 Tag info, not filenames.

  • Zen V Plus 8GB free

    Hi all,
Bought myself this player this week, installed the software (organizer and explorer), went to the creative site to update player with latest firmware and auto updated the software to the latest versions.
Everything went okay. Then I tried to fill the player with music, all mp3 from an external hard dri've. I was able to upload 5 tracks, leaving me approx. 6GB of space. Then everytime I tried to add another song, the player freezes and the program I used didn't respond any longer. I tried via organizer, explorer, WMP, drag and drop in windows explorer. All without success. Even formatting the player didn't work. Now it freezes after just track. So I am continuously pressing the reset button because the player stays in "docked" mode, i.e. not responding.
    Does anyone has a solution?
    Thank you!
    Tom

This happened to me on my zen v plus 4GB.
I fixed it by resetting and then starting in recovery mode and choosing the "clean up" option. To do this, reset your zen through the pinhole. Then hold down the play button while turning the player on. When you see the creative logo on the screen, release the play button.
A recovery mode menu should then appear. Choose "clean up". That's what worked for me. "Clean up" doesn't delete anything from your player, but the format option will. Also, definitely don't choose "reload firmware" unless you have a copy of the firmware on your computer!

ok, I will tkae that under consideration. Now I have another battery issue, after fully charging the MP3 player I noticed that the battery life drain rather quickly while it is off. I lost 9% of it's charge from taking it off the charger at midnight and then plugging it into the usb port of my computer the next morning at 10:00am. The clock is turned off so it should not be doing anything for those 0 hours.

  • Zen Nano Plus won't play MP3, can't convert to WMA, tried new firmw

    Help!
I have just reloaded the firmware (and all my music) onto my Zen Nano Plus and it didn't fix my problem.
I have mostly .wma files and they play fine. I have tried to load .mp3 files but my player just skips them. I tried using the Organizer software to convert the .mp3 files to .wma files and it says they are converted but I get about min of each song and that's it.
    So I don't know why I can't play .mp3 files and I also don't know why the .mp3's can't be fully converted to .wma's.
    Can anyone help?Thanks in advance,Marci

Wave files will only play by tricking the player into thinking that they are wav files created by the voice recorder. Put wav file into a folder called Recorded Tracks and see if it plays. This will at least see if it will play something. How did you transfer your files?Try ripping a CD to wma files using MediaSource or Windows Media Player - sometimes the firmware gets in a twist and will play mp3s but not wmas, or vice versa. The solution to that is to reload the firmware - go to the Support->Downloads link at the top of the page to get the latest firmware for your player. Protected songs (wma files with DRM) need to be transferred using WMP or MediaSource to transfer the license across, but mp3 files can be drag'n'dropped in Windows Explorer. A protected song without a license will give the symptoms you detail. As it's duff from the start you might just want to take it back - but it's worth trying the firmware reload first to save you some bother. PB

I went ahead and updated it anyway. One little thing I noticed was now the volume only goes up to 25 like my Zen Touch instead of 40 or whatever that it did before. • Zen Nano Plus 1gb turns off .

    Hi
I've had my player since September 2005 and have NEVER had any trouble out of it until 2 days ago. The problem...When I am listening to a track and use the wheel to back it up and listen to it again or the track before it, the player shuts off. I've been reading the posts here and realize I probably need some new firmware but which one do I need. Also my daughter has a 52 mb player that started doing the same thing.

  • Zen Nano Plus connection problems - SOLVED (1/2/06)

I recently bought the Nano Plus. On first installation everything worked fine. I decided to upgrade to the latest drivers and firmware via downloads from the Creative site. At some point during the firmware upgrade, everything seemed to hang. Eventually I had to halt the process, disconnect the player and reboot.
When I plugged the player back in, it is detected as a USB Mass Storage Device, but Windows Explorer and the Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer both claim that the device is not connected.
Here's what I have done so far:
)Uninstalled all drivers and Creative software, rebooted, reinstalled drivers/software, rebooted. When plugging the player in, a brief window pops up saying Zen Nano Plus has been detected. This is followed by USB Mass Storage Device being detected (this window stays up a lot longer, sometimes more than 5-0 minutes before disappearing).
2)Another uninstall/reinstall, but this time with a registry cleanup in between. Same result.
3)Tried installing installation cd on partner's laptop and plugging in the player. Absolutely everything works fine. So it's not my player. There must be something I still need to do on my desktop to get everything to work again.
4)Have also tried plugging into every USB outlet on the desktop. No change.
    My system:
    Windows XP (sp 2)
    3.2 GHz
    Intel 865 chipset
    2 GB RAM
My Zen Nano Plus is currently running .0.03 firmware (latest).
On this desktop I am running the latest drivers (Creative Mass Storage Drivers .07.00.250)
When the player is plugged in, device manager shows no problems. Under Disk Dri'ves, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2535.0). Under USB, USB Mass Storage Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2600.0).
I have tried manually updating these drivers to anything listed in the Creative folders upon installation, but it does not detect anything. When I check the drivers listed on the laptop that works with the player, these same driver details show up.
Any advice would be appreciated. I certainly would hate to only use my partner's laptop every time I want to update my music. I am also frustrated and puzzled as to why my player first worked on my desktop and now doesn't.Message Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2: AMMessage Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2:2 AM

With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    -->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.
