Zen V Plus - Track Playing Order Prob

When? I rip a CD, put it on my Zen V Plus, then play the album, I can move through successi've tracks by moving the joystick to the right, so Track , Track 2, Track 3, etc.....
However, I've just tried ripping the audio from a music DVD, which involved manually setting the track numbers in MediaMonkey. Once on the Zen they play fine, but right joystick moves between seemingly arbitrary tracks, so Track , Track 5, Track 6, Track 3, Track 2, etc..... Any ideas why it's not behaving as expected? Is it using something other than the track number tag to determine the order?
Thanks

  • ZEN V (Plus) Track Detail View bitrate b

I have noticed, that bitrate of VBR MP3 files is shown incorrectly in ZEN V (Plus) Track details view. It looks like the bitrate shown is actually a bitrate of only FIRST MPEG frame not average of all track.
You can easily test this by looking tracks bitrate in Winamp file info and then look at the shown bitrate of the same track in your ZEN V (Plus) player.
I think it is a bit annoying bug and really hope that this bug will be corrected soon.
    What do you think?
P.S. My ZEN V Plus firmware version is .0.03eMessage Edited by Bytec on 2-05-20062:08 PM

Hold down the "Back" button. A list of options will come up. The one at the top ("View All") is what you want.
For future reference, a lot of things seem to be done by holding down that button

  • Zen V Plus continuous play

My old piece of junk Sony mp3 player would automatically move on to the next album when the current one was done playing. I've looked, but can't figure out if this can be done on my Zen V Plus. Is there a way to do it's?Thanks!

[color="#ff0000"]. Music library > all tracks[color="#ff0000"]2. Music library > artists > highlight the artist u like > press play. it'll play all the artist's album.[color="#ff0000"]3. Create playlist containing?the albums u want to play in loop. I appreciate the reply, but it doesn't work for what I'm looking to do. Suggestion # will play ALL the tracks on the player. That's great, but in essence that means listening to ALL of the artists in a jumbled order. Suggestion #2 will not play all of the albums by that particular artist...only the album that you have selected. Suggestion #3 is a possibility, but would take a lot of time to do. If I want to listen to ALL of my Dire Straits albums non-stop, I'd have to go through each album and pick each song from each album and add them to a play list. There should be a setting that basically says "Start here (song # on an album) and keep going till someone shuts you off." Message Edited by VACaver on 05-5-200702:40 PM

  • Zen V Plus stops playing

    Hi everyone,
    nice forum New to it.
Allright, to the subject. I recently bought a zen v plus 8gb. I noticed that sometimes while listening to music on it, it sometimes just stops playing. Like its paused. But on screen it still says its playing (the play icon is still on), but the playtime is stopped to. anyone have any ideas?
    Greetz and thanks in advance,
    MTFDarkEagle?

I have the exact same problem. It happens if you listen to a track and press back to either rewind or skip back to a previous track. The second playthrough will "pause" at some point requiring you to press the play button to make it resume. It is quite an annoying glitch which I have yet to find a solution for. The last (very outdated) firmware doesn't address the issue and every topic I have seen regarding the problem seem to go unresolved. I can certainly li've with it, but it will be the last time I ever buy a Creative MP3 player.

  • Mega Stick 256 Tracks Playing Order

    Hi!
I just bought a MSI 256 MB; and I was wondering this... how does it select the songs to play... in which order?
Because it doesn't pick them according to the filenames, for what I have tried. I think it does it according to the name of the song in the ID3 tag.
Please; if someone knows it for sure, let me know. And also; what happens if the file doesn't have an ID3 name; if they are in different folders, and how does it pick WMA files, where the info these files save is different...?
    Thanks in advance;
    Dan_Aykroyd

    Hi all,
I actually really like the MegaStick (good value for money) but the file organising system sucks massively (a MAJOR flaw with the design and one that if MSI cured I'm sure would boost sales! HINT HINT!)
I've tried changing the ID3 tags like everyone says but it still seems confused when track numbers go over 10.
I have ordered a folder 1,2,....,14 and the tracks play in the order 1,10,11,12,13,14,2,3,...,9 Grr! How do I stop this.
Someone (one of the posts) said they go by alphabetical order based on the first 6 characters.  This can't be true as I renamed the files and they were still in a weird order.  One thing I did try which I got strange results from was the following:
-Copy album to stick (check player and it indeed plays in weird order).
-Go and rename the tracks to a,b,c,d,... in the order they should play.
Not only do they play in order, but the stick decides to ignore the ID3 track name and put on screen /a,/b etc..(note the "/").  Only when I name things with one character does this happen?!?!?
Also, what was the deal about the post with recommended file names 111111_..., 111112_... ?  Does this mean label track 1 111111, track 2 111112 etc.?
Again, someone mentioned the folders play in alphabetical order, but I don't find this eiter.  Can anyone give me the official, bottom line, last word on this.  Please!
    Cheers,
    Parks

  • Zen Nano Plus wont play for more than 5 seconds at a ti

I recently bought a new Creative Zen Nano Plus and thought I was getting a good reliable product. It synced in WMP like it should but when I unplugged it from my computer and tried to listen to the songs it will boot up and start playing a song but then shut off 3 seconds later. I formatted it and updated the firmware and drivers on the player and my computer but it still wont play for more than a few seconds at a time. I tried changing the battery and leaving it plugged in but neither of the above worked. I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Same issue with me - only mine won't even power on now...

  • Zen Stone Plus wont play some mu

My player is only playing about a third of the songs that is on the player
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've just started to find out how we can use folders as playlists on the Zen Stone Plus. So I started to create a couple of folders in the root directory of the Stone Plus. However it seems like I cant create more than 4 folders, so that's kinda like saying I can only have 4 playlists. Am I doing something wrong or is there really such a limitation for this mp3 player?

  • Zen V Plus - track seek times completely screwed

When seeking within an audiobook track, the time index on screen will advance to whatever I command it, but the actual audio WILL NOT advance-- when I let go the joystick to resume playing, the audio picks up from right where I initially pressed the joystick!
This bug has manifested itself in the bookmark function too. It allows me to set a bookmark, but when I select the bookmark, it resumes playing from somewhere totally different than where I set the bookmark.
This is an mp3 format file, windows explorer reports it as 28Kbps file. If it is a standard bitrate and not variable, why should I be having this problem? Any ideas how I can fix this?
    thanks

I'll try to answer your questions:-. Using XP (home edition) SP 22. Using ZenV Plus, 2 gb2.a? Have used Creative Media, Windows Media Player, but prefer Overdri've Media Console (simpler, faster, great)3. Have never tried to load books from another computer.4. Do not purchase or rent books. I get them all from library.4.a. I have used Net Library but get most of them through SEO Library Consortium. That's where I downloaded the Overdri've Media Console software from.5. They are regular "audio" books, recorded on tracks. I have gotten some with as many as 3 tracks. I think the track sizes generally must correlate to the size/capacity of a CD.6. I believe they have all been wma format and they are "licensed" to you for a specific period, just like when you check them out from any library. I had the same problem with keeping up with the story line at first until I figured out the navigation and particularly the "seek" and "bookmark" functions.
Time bar:? The time shown on the left is the time that has elapsed in that particular track, and the time shown on the right is the time that is left on that track. Seek:? When you access the "seek" function, you then have to hold the joystick button to the left (back) or right (forward) position until you get to your desired?time mark on the bar. When you start it goes slow and the longer you hold it in that position, the faster it moves. As soon as you let go of it, it stops moving and if that is where you want to start listening, you push "in" on the button to start the play from that point. You cannot seek either backward or forward into another track. You can only seek within that specific track. Bookmark:? When you are at a point where you want to set a bookmark, it is best to pause the playback and then set your bookmark. When you select the bookmark function you will get a screen where you can set multiple bookmarks and you would use the navigation button to select the bookmark position you want to use. Then you would push the navigation button in to set the bookmark in that position. When you want to go back to that place in your book, you go to Music Library>bookmarks and select which bookmark position you want to go to. TRICKY PART:? Normally, you would see the Track # in the upper LH of the display, but if you are playing from a bookmarked position, the player will display the Bookmark Position # instead. The?name of the book will scroll across the display and show the actual track number, but depending on how long the name of the book is, your display may black out before?it gets to the track #. The time line at the bottom of the display will show your?position in the actual track?where the bookmark was placed. The playback will continue until the time line reaches the end of that track and will then stop. To?continue the book from that point, you have to go back to the track listing and start the playback on the next track. Navigation General:?If you push the?joystick button to the left or right?and hold it, while in any track or bookmark, it will almost do the same thing as seek, except that as soon as you let go of it, it will start playback whereas with the seek function, it will just stop and you have to push in on the button to start the playback. Also, just like the seek function, it will only go back to the beginning or forward to the end of that particular track. If you quickly flick the joystick button to the right or left, instead of holding it, it will advance to the next track, wither back or forward.
    Hope this helps some!

  • Sleek and Zen Media Explorer Track Listing Order.

    Hey all,
Been lovin' my Sleek for the last 2 months with just one, minor, issue; today I got a little frustrated so I'm here to ask you about it.
Normally I rip CDs using the Creative Media Organizer and then use the Zen Media Explorer to "import" and add the new songs to my playlist. Unfortunately in the ZM "Edit Playlists" window, the upper left window (titled "Creative Zen Sleek") has a list of folders by artist, where I would much prefer to list folders by album name.
For example I might see Beatles in the "B" section, but then a different album might have been listed as "The Beatles" so it's in the "T" section. A lot of my albums are compilations with many different artists playing songs I'm not totally familiar with (jazz for example) and when I see a name I have no idea what song it refers to.
Is there a way to change that Manage Playlists window so it displays the album name instead of the artist name? I've tried looking in settings, etc., but nothing obvious leaps out at me.
    <IMG src="http://www.us-picks.com/zenplaylists.jpg">
Please don't tell me to use Windows Media Player to do the transfers; it's counterintuiti've to me and takes longer.
    Thank you,
    D.

I think the folder structure you're seeing in ZME (\"Music"\artist name\album name\tracks) is part of how Microsoft organizes MTP-type players (including all US Sleeks); I have the same structure in my 2.x-firmware Micro. There's no way to change that.
I think micromouse's solution (use MediaSource for transfers as well as rips) is the best; MediaSource has its own library database and may not be constrained by Microsoft's folder structure. (The internal library in Creative's MTP-type players isn't constrained by the folder structure either.)

  • Zen Nano Plus wont play mp3 fi

I cannot get my Nano Plus player to play mp3 files. I have reformatted the dri've but it still will not play them. This includes home-made mp3 files with no rights issues. When I transfer files to the Nano Plus and try to play them they simply will not start playing. Instead of the triangle "Play" icon, there is a solid square "Stop" icon in the display and the timer stays at 0:00. I have played some of these mp3 files in the past but none of them will play now.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Tony

  • Zen V Plus - Track viewing opti

In Music Library on the player, is there a way to view to go straight from "Artist" to "Tracks" without having to go through the artist's albums?
My Nomad Zen Xtra has the ability to do this with the option to "view by album" or "view by track".
That way I can pick an Artist, then view all the artist's tracks in one column.

  • Zen V Plus firmware wishl

I could not find a wishlist for the Zen V / V Plus, so here it is.
Plain and simple just like the other player wishlists. No questions and no discussions. Just topics with firmware improvements for Zen V / V Plus. Hopefully, the Creative developers will see this.
The Zen V Plus is a great multi-function DAP, almost perfect for its niche. It only needs a few improvements.
A list in order of importance to me (most important first):
) Improve the current bookmarking mechanism by saving the current playlist along with the current audio track position. Currently, if you are listening to track number 0 out of 20 tracks for an audiobook and save it to a bookmark, restoring that bookmark will restore only the one saved track to the current playlist. You have to manually add back the other tracks to the current playlist.
    2) When powering-off on a paused audio track, the Zen should power-on paused to the same position in the audio track. Currently, the Zen V powers-on paused to the beginning of the same audio track. I listen to a lot of audio books and track position is important in a power-on resume.
2a) Option to treat an album as continuous audio content so that a rewind started in track 6 will back into track 5 continuously (in other words from the beginning of track 6 to the end of track 5 and so on). This is very important for listening to audio books.
    3) Add FM tuner radio recording.
    4) When scrolling a long list of songs, the scrolling should accelerate.
    5) The lower end of the volume scale in terms of loudness should be quieter. I listen with high sensitivity IEMs at night and level one is too loud.
    6) Audible.com tracks should be in their own album named Audible. Right now they fill up the Album selection list. I have about 40 Audible.com tracks on my Zen V Plus and about 20 music albums. The Audible.com tracks clutter up the album list.
    7) When configuring the menu, unchecked top level items should move into the EXTRAS menu. In other words, unchecking PHOTO would move it into EXTRAS.
    8) Option to backup all Zen V settings and radio presets to the PC.
    9) Allow charging of the Zen V from an ordinary (not Win XP) USB port or from an ordinary USB charger.
    0) Add a sensitivity (low and high) option and/or an AGC (auto gain control) option to voice recording for close and distant recording.
) An option to select all tracks EXCEPT speech tracks like Audible.com tracks, podcasts, and audiobook tracks, so that Shuffle mode will play only music. This might be done by having a setting for genre exclusions (speech, audiobook, podcast, and so on)
    2) A fade in/fade out option.
    3) A configurable HOLD option (lock all, not volume, not play/pause, not both).
    4) Scheduled FM recording.
It would be nice if the Zen V Plus could play compressed video, but I presume that with a small battery and low power processor, this is not possible.Message Edited by IpaqMan on 2-05-200609:2 AM

Glad this form is here. I was considering buying a Zen V Plus. I currently use a zen nano plus to listen mostly to audible books. My complaints:. Can't lock it so that if it's sitting in a purse it sometimes accidently turns on and then keeps going until it sues up the battery2. You have to scroll through everything on the zen nano plus in order to get to the book you want to listen to.I thought I would change to the Zen V Plus but am very concerned that you can't rewind within a track. Iuse that a lot and don't want to only be able to go back or forward to a a chapter or track. I tried using a Sandisk Sansa?c40 which had this characteristic and it drove me crazy and I went back to my Zen Nano.
I 'd like a player that has a menu so that you can choose the book or music you want to go to from a menue - withhout scrolling , but that allows you to rewind\fastforward inside the book by the second. ANy ideas? Thanks?Message Edited by lisamp3 on 05-0-20072:26 PM

  • Zen V Plus - Resume on Pause Funct

    Hi,
I want to buy a MP3 for reading audio books. I am thinking about buying the Zen V Plus.
However, I have to confirm on the most important feature for me -- "resume".
I heard that Zen V does not resume after pressing pause and let the unit automatically turn into sleep mode.
Have this problem been fixed with the new firmware yet? I will buy it if this problem has been fixed.

    Thank you for you suggestions.
I did bought Zen V Plus and played with it for a while. Unfortunately I have to refund it at the end because of the resume and bookmark feature.
The player is very nice. The interface is easy to use. The joystick control works better than I imagined. However, the bookmark feature didn't work as I expected it to be. It is a bit hard to set (too many buttons to press), not particular convenient for a feature that I need to use frequently. And the other problem is it doesn't seem to remember the playlist when the bookmark was set (there might be a way for the bookmark to remember the playlist? I didn't spend too much time investigating it)
When I press pause, (which I need to do very frequently during a day) and turn off the player, the position will be lost. I can use the power button, if it is a button. But it's not a button, it's a slider that I need to press for a few seconds to turn on and off. I guess I can simply use the pause without turning it off, but there's a risk that the player will turn off itself after a prolonged idling.
I have bought and refund 3 different players during the last few months, sadly none of them are very audio book friendly. Currently I am using the pocket pc (with some customized solution) for the audio books, it's clumsy and with the way I use it, I don't think the unit will last very long. I hope Creative will come up with something that fix the pause and bookmark function soon.

  • Zen Nano Plus: I can't get my CDs to play in original order...He

    Hello. I'm new here.
I got a Zen Nano Plus 52 mb a few months ago. Installed the software on my computer. I'm not very computer literate.
Here's what's frustrating me: I can't seem to listen to my CDs in their original order.
) I put a CD in my computer
    2) Whether I view the track list in Windows Media Player or in the Creative Media Menu the track list appears in its original order as seen on the CD.
    3) I "rip" the CD to my Nano player.
    4) When I disconnect the player and go to play the album the tracks are all mixed up and not in the original order anymore.
I've tried some different things but nothing seems to correct the problem. I'm hoping someone can direct me what to do. I'm very confused, as I don't understand much of the computer terminology I read.

As in other response, the Nano Plus does not read ID tag info for sorting (it does read part of the tag--song name---only for display while that song is playing). Tag info typically includes the track number. Windows Media Player plays tracks in order of track number contained in the ID3 tags. The Nano Plus only sorts by filename. You can rip your tracks in a format that is prefixed by the track number (for filename). This can be done in Windows Media Player and other programs. Somehow you ripped tracks without the track number first (which would solve your problem). You tracks should look like "0-Come Together-Bealtes.wma" or something like this. This is the FILENAME, as you would see in Windows Explorer. The track info is not visible in Windows Explorer views. You can see it from Windows Media Player or Creative Media Source Organizer, though. Other players like Zen Micro and Touch sort tracks and build the library database on ID3 Tag info, not filenames.
