Zen V with Windows 98

My daughter got a Zen V GB for christmas. I installed the software on my Win XP PC but her laptop has Windows 98 SE. I have read some other posts about using other players with Win98 but not the Zen V. I would settle for basic functionality. Chris

  • Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 editi

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

CRe: Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 edition?H I recently bought a Zen 8GB mp3 player. I have an xp x64 pro OS. As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

  • Zen Sleek with Windows

Just purchased Zen Sleek. Literature says it will work with Windows ME, but when I tried to install the included software, it would not work with this operating system. Contacted customer support, but no response yet. Anybody else have this problem. Next computer will have XP, but until then, I am looking for a possible solution.

I didn't have QuickTime or iTunes installed so that must not be an issue.
I have emailed Creative Support and they indicated that I can try to work with their support in another region to see if I can get the install that supports ME. Still working on that but I'm not optimistic.
Most likely I'll end up buying a new computer with XP so I'll end up having $000 cost to get going with a decent mp3 player. It's unfortunate but likely what will happen. Eventually want to get XP anyway but since my computer is ok for what I'm doing (except hooking up to my mp3 player) I was hoping not to have to do that - especially since I understand that the MTP that requires XP is basically required if you want to use Napster or Yahoo musicl. Since I'll just rip CDs I don't really need that.
Enough whining I guess. Thanks for the comments.

  • Zen Micro with Windows 2000 Not Recogni

Help!! My computer operating Windows 2000 no longer recognizes my Zen Micro. It used to but no longer. I have searched through all the help loading everything under the sun with no success. My Micro is operating with Version ..0 that I understand should and has worked in the past with W2000.
Please help. This is ridiculous - no Zen here.

I finally figured that out. With ME or 2000, I needed to:
) download the version firmware to my memory stick
    2) take the player and V firmware to an XP machine
    3) have the older firmware flashed into the player
    4) reinstall the player on the ME machine
I did all that, had Best Buy do the reflash, and it's working now.
    A few more questions:
If I later update the computer to an XP, any problem with reinstalling Version 2 firmware (other than loosing stored data in the player)?
Exactly how many features are not supported by version firmware? I'm aware that it won't support subscription services, e.g., Napster To Go, and audible format. Are there any other missing I should be aware of?
    TIA
    JRC

i have tried to work the zen touch with Windows media player but this dose not work and the computer crashes every time.
i have window xp professional and have all up dates from Windows. my computer is very new and has more then enough memory and ram.
please can you help. i am not to happy with the zen touch computer program and would like to know how to fix this problem.
    thank you for your help
    Rob the monkey

I wonder if there are problems here associated with the use of the zen touch on SP2 machines. Interestingly I cannot transfer music from my PC to my Zen 20gb on a SP2 machine but I can do so on my sisters machine which has got SP. Obviously having the lastest firmware is a good idea though but I believe there are issues associated with SP2 and as you say you have all the latest updates to windows perhaps the problem lies there. Sorry if this doesn't help you at all

    Zen V Minimum System Requirements
Microsoft? Windows? XP (Service Pack or higher) / XP 64-bit
The Zen V isn't designed to work with older versions of Windows, even though Win2K is an excellent operating system.
You may be able to find a work-around in this thread

  • Zen Vision:m 30gb doesn't work properly with Windows 7 64bit

I recently upgraded my pc from an old xp machine to a new one running windows 7 ultimate. Creative says their media player software that originally shipped with the zen does not support windows 7, so i should use windows media player (the version that ships with windows 7; i cannot find a help dialog box with the version number). Creative also says that the zen vision:m uses only microsoft MTP drivers, so I don't need to upgrade any drivers and it should be compatible. However, although the zen vision:m connects fine and I can see the mp3 files on the zen HDD, I cannot play them in the main windows media player screen. I can only double click on files and play them in the small windows media player window without any controls. Of course, I can't import any of the zen mp3 files into the music library in windows media player or set up any playlists. I checked every menu item and dialog box that i can think of on my zen and in windows 7, but nothing appears to be relevant to this problem. Any ideas, other than buying a brand new mp3 player? TIA

When you connect it & open it WMP click on the SYNC tab of the program. Choose the files you want to sync to the computer then hit SYNC . The files should transfer to the computer. (check your settings as to where you want the files to go.)

  • Problems with songs i downloaded with windows media player!!!!(zen tou

If I try to play songs i downloaded with windows media player My zen touch(20Gb) freezes and won't shut down:angry:. I have downloaded the latest firmware so that can't be the cause of the problem.
Can someone tell me what I can do about that.
btw I don't have problems with songs downloaded with creative's media source

If you mean you subscribed to iTunes Match, you have to import your music into your iTuens library in order to add it to iTunes Match.  iTunes Match (and iCloud) only works with iOS devices and computers.  It won't work with your iPod Classic; you'll have to sync that with iTunes in order to add your music.

  • Creative Zen V Plus won't sync with Windows Media Player 11?

My Zen V Plus won't synchronize with Windows Media Player . I plug it into the USB, then an error message pops up in WMP that says "WMP has encountered a problem and needs to close" but if I just move the window aside WMP works fine. I then click 'sync" and it says "preparing to sync" but doesnt move beyond that. I have synced with WMP before, this problem has recently started occurring. I have all the firmware updates on my player, I don't know what is causing this problem.

  • Creative Zen Micro Not compatible with Windows Vi

My daughter has a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player, no video feature, just the the music player. She recently got a new computer that runs Windows Vista. She tried to install the program on her new computer, and it said the software was not compatible with Windows Vista. Does that mean I need to get new software from Creative Zen? to use the program on The computer running?Windows Vista? Any help would be appreciated..

The software that came on the original CD is not supported on vista.
The Zen Micro will work nati'vely with Vista if it contains the latest firmware version. If the Zen Micro isn't being recognized by Vista then you will need to use an older system (windows xp) to upgrade the firmware on the Zen Micro. Once Vista recognizes the Zen Micro you should be able to download Vista compatable versions of the software for the device from the creative website.

  • Creative Zen Micro Photo not tested for use with Windows so cant install it! Please help

Heya! Basically when installing the software for Microphoto it stops saying that as my device hasn't been tested for use with windows it cant install for fear of corrupting my laptop! Can anyone help me overcome this because i installed it aagges ago and it let me have the option of continuing the installating, but i had 2 uninstall it and upon reinstalling it it does not give me the option to continue. It just cancels the installation. Can someone please help me as this is driving me nuts!! Y is it that technology is continuosly mucking up grrrrr!
    Lucy

Are you runnning Win XP SP2? If so, this is a standard warning about unsigned drivers, but it should still give you the option to "continue anyway" to complete the installation.
Also, make sure you have Windows Media Player 0, as this is needed for Windows XP (drivers) to recognize your MicroPhoto.

  • How To: Get Your Creative Zen Working With Vis

I am an owner of the now outdated Zen 20gb HD0005. Upgraded to Vista Business recently and have not been able to get the player working, the installation cd wouldnt work and neither would the updates at uk.creative.com There is a way! Go to http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP (from the US Creative download archi'ves), download the driver to your desktop or where ever. The driver is originally for XP, however, once it is downloaded right click the setup file and select properties. In the new window go to the Compatibility tab and select: Compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2And, at the bottom, check that the box next to 'Run As An Administrator' is also ticked. Click Apply and then OK and run the setup. It should now (at 67% through the installation) update drivers (this may seem to hang, please be patient!) and then will ask you to reconnect your player. Unplug it, click ok, then plug it in at the end of installation, go to my computer and you should hopefully see that your Zen is under 'Other Devices' I hope this is help to some of you with the same problems as I had!

it seems that it now detects the player but wont run in organiser, only in Explorer. Only thing i can think of is burning songs to disc and then adding them to comp again, unless anyone else has any suggestions?

  • Creative Zen Touch 20GB - Windows Vista

(Creative Zen Touch 20GB - Windows Vista6 Hi folks,
My old computer running XP recently gave up on me and I now have a new computer using Vista.
I have lost the cd I got with my Zen Touch as it was over 5 years ago now but it still works perfectly!
I want to set up Creative Media Player on Vista so I can start transferring music again but I have heard that if I download the firmwear I will lose all the songs that are currently stored. I really don't want this to happen as most of my music was contained on my old PC and it will be very hard to locate it all again so if there was a way I could just set up Creative Media Player the same way I had it before, without losing all my current music, that would be great!
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot get IPod to properly communicate with Windows or ITunes

I just bought a used 20GB G4 Ipod off of EBay. I have never owned an IPod but have been using ITunes 6.04 for awhile, using it as an organizer for my ripped MP3's and a few songs purchased on tunes. I first tried to install the IPod software from the CD that came with the IPod. The IPod software installed fine (or so it appeared) but the installation program did crap out after telling me that I already had a newer version of ITunes installed.
I tried to get my IPod to be recognized by Windows/ITunes that first night but had no luck. I was not sure if I was being too impatient or not, so finally let things just run and went to bed. When I got up the next morning my IPod battery was completely dead. I then read some stuff here and got a little better idea of what I was doing.
The IPod and it will boot up by itself, but has no songs on it. I have not tried to run any diagnostics on it - are there some? I have determined that the IPod menu tells me that it is Windows formatted.
Since then I have downloaded the latest version of the ITunes software. Here is what happens for me now. I uninstall the ITunes and IPod software and then reinstall them. I don't think the order of installation matters to my outcome, as I have done this both ways. After a fresh reboot I connect the IPod to the USB port on my compute. Windows recognizes that a USB device has been attached, and recognizes it as an Apple IPod USB Storage Device (I didn't write down the exact wording, but IPod is definitely part of it). After some disk chugging I get a message from the Windows USB handling software that I may need to reboot for the device to work. I then get a message from Apple software saying the same thing. I reboot my computer and it hangs on reboot if I leave the IPod connected. I disconnect the IPod and let Windows reboot. When Windows is back up I connect the IPod. Windows recognizes the USB device being plugged in but this time it thinks it is a generic USB storage device, no mention of IPod. If I'm patient after awhile I will get a message from ITunes telling me my IPod needs to be reformated. I click yes (or OK or whatever) and the IPod Update software starts. It just sits there. If I leave it overnight it will drain my IPod battery. But I never get the upgrade or restore options. And I have on occaision gotten a "can't mount IPod" message.
So am I doing wrong? Is it possible my IPod was damaged in shipping? How can I tell? Is this just Steve Jobs getting even with Bill Gates (at my expense)? Is the IPod the root of all evil or the greatest thing since sliced bread?
P.S. I do not know if it matters or not, but I have a Zen Micro and all of it's associated software installed on my machine as well.

I did get mine to communicate with Windows finally. I uninstalled both the Ipod software and ITunes. I then setup the Ipod with the original CD it came with. After that I upgraded first to the newest IPod softare and then to ITunes 6. I'm getting an error -69 while transferring files now, but the communication between the Ipod and Windows is there now.
