Zen V won't charge

Despite resetting my Zen V countless times, it staill says low battery despite being connected to the charger for hours. What can I do?

Does it do the same when you tried connecting it via USB cable? If it won't charge via USB cable as well, then the battery is defecti've. If it does charge via USB cable, your charger is the culprit.

  • Creative Zen V won't charge, is not recognized, simply not work

hey. couple of weeks ago i bought myself a creative v zen. i have win xp prof sp2 and everything was working fine. few days ago suddenly media explorer crashed while i was transfering music to the player. i had to reset my player. since then, my zen is simply not recognized, neither by media explorer, nor by windows itself. there's always a mtp device being found, but it won't install the drivers. i reinstalled all the drivers and all the software, i downloaded all the updates, but it's still not working. my player won't even charge itself. only if i'm lucky enough. and everytime i turn on the zen, it says that it's rebuilding the media library. does anyone know how to fix that thing ?

  • My ZEN mozaic won't charge and won't be detected?

    Hello everyone!
I have a black ZEN mozaic of 2GB memory here and months, I can't remember when I first got it, it was a gift. On my both old computers, it was charging perfectly.
I got a new laptop, with Vista installed and when I plugged my ZEN for the first time, it was charging. I tried to charge it today and add some new mp3s, and it was not detecting it, neither it was charging it. ( I am using the USB cable.)
I tried pushing the USB cable back and forth and it worked for a few seconds (both charging & detecting), but then it's gone. I also tried to reset it by the small hole that is on one side, but nothing.
Now, I downloaded the right firmware to upgrade it but still it does not detect my ZEN. What the problem could be? The USB cable? The battery? Something else?

    Thank you for the welcoming!
I did that, through the control panel and sadly it does not detect it. I am using Vista and I heard some errors with the certain version of Windows, but the mp3 player last time worked perfectly.
    Any other idea?

  • My Zen Micro won't charge at

This just happened today. Yesterday it charged just fine. Between the last time I charged it and today, I haven't changed anything with my mp3 player. So I'm guessing that this is some random error that has occurred. Be that as it may, is there some way to get it to charge again? Do you think my battery died completely? If so, can I still use my mp3 when it's plugged up with my ac adapter?Message Edited by Mago_Hitokage on 08-03-200704:54 PM

Not that strange. It is a safety measure.
If you drain your battery bellow the acceptable leevl recharging it would be dangerous (could cause it to explode!) so a cirquit stops a drained battery from recharging.
However when you connect to the PC the player at least uses the USB power and tries to turn on, unsuccessfully though.
Just a word of advice: NEVER completely drain a Lithium battery, be it your DAP's or your Cell Phone's battery, ALWAYS charge it before it dries out.
    Best of luck

  • 2 month new Zen Micro, won't fully charge via

I have the zen micro 5gb and here's what been happening
Up until the last month the micro would charge up just fine. Now, it won't charge past one bar and it does show the charging icon in the upper right hand corner.
My USB connections are USB 2.0 at work and home and it won't fully charge. I ran the battery completely out of juice to try a fresh charge approach. I know the micro is getting power because it will run while plugged into my usb cable.
Oh yeah, recently, after the water drop on the screen, it usually loads the zen micro logo, then rolls right to the now playing screen. Recently, it sticks for about 0 seconds, and the touch pad is inacti've.
Before I deal with taking it back to BestBuy, I figured I'd see if there's anything I can try before.

You don't have to, but if your USB power is marginal it ensures that ALL the power is dedicated to charge the player.
I just switched it to lock and it is pulsing. When I'm at work I have to use my usb connection to charge and I can't load the driver onto my work machine. If it is not pulsing, is it only just using the usb for power?
It's only using the USB power for the data connection.
What's the deal with the pusling?
It shows the player is charging.
Also, what's the benefit of upgrading the firmware to v2?

  • Zen Nomad Jukebox: Won't charge after sitting

My daughters 30G Zen Nomad Jukebox Xtra sat, with the battery in, for about 3 months after she lost it due to low school grades.
After she got her grades back up, I gave it back to her, and it won't charge at all now.
?The charger itself is fine (I checked the 5V with a multimeter), and the unit was charged and working when I took it from her 3 months ago, which is why I don't understand it. I did try the reset button with a paperclip. but it didn't help.
When it's plugged into the charger, there's absolutly nothing on the screen indicating that its charging at all, when there should be an indicator light on it. HELP!!!!!!Shawn

Well, tech support got back to me with the following instructions, that didn't help me at all, but I'm hoping it will help someone else, so I'm pasting it here.
For my problem though, I still don't understand how a working player gets put into a desk drawer, and 3 months later, it comes out and won't turn on, even with the power adapter in and the battery out.
    Maybe its a magic desk.
    Any ideas.......anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

With regards to your enquiries, I understand that you are having issues
    charging the Zen Xtra battery.
May I know if you feel any warmth on the power adaptor while charging
    the battery for 5-30 mins?
    Please try the following:
    - Remove the battery from the player.
    - Power on the DC input connecting to the player. Power on the player
without the battery in the player for 2 hours.
    - After 2 hours, place battery into the player (Check if it is charging)
    - If it is still unable to charge, remove the battery and place battery
    into the player again.
    - Repeat the following steps for at least 2 times.
    - If the charging indicator appears, charge the battery for 4 hours.
Shall the issue persists, please test the player unit with another
battery. Perharps your friends have a player of the same model? This is
to determine if the issue is with the player or the battery.

  • My Zen Touch won't turn on or char

My Zen Touch won't turn on, nor will it charge.
    Here's what happened:
    . I hadn't used it for about a week
    2. I try to turn it on, and nothing happens. It's not locked.
    3. I plug it into the charger and nothing happens.
    4. I reset it, and the title screen appears. I wait for the title screen to disappear, but it doesn't. It doesn't charge either.
    5. I take out the charger and it turns off! I try to turn it back on and still nothing happens.
    6. I plug the charger back in and, yet again, the title screen appears but doesn't change or charge.
It seems like the battery life has run out, but it won't charge.
    WHAT CAN I DO!?

Nevermind, I just went and checked my mp3 player (I left it on the charger) and now it is charging. I conclude that the battery was dead and I was just impatient :P
    Thanks anyway.

  • ZEN MICRO WON'T SYNC CONTACTS NOW .....

My Zen Micro won't sync contacts from Outlook Li've now (when it did before) .... get an error message:
    "CTSync
    X Unspecified error"
I'm using Outlook Li've (2003) that is linked to my hotmail e-mail; like I said, everything sync'ed fine before!
I've tried all the new downloads, etc.
I've also formatted the player several times.
I can still syn music, tasks, and calendar.
How do I resolve this issue ... no one from Creative Labs has been able to provide any assistance with the issue(s).

FernIe, I have the exact same problem, although now my Zen Micro won't turn on at all via the switch.
My Zen Micro is 5 months old and its only been over the past few weeks I've been having problems. It started with having to hold the switch in the power on position for a least 30 secs and trying it at least 5-0 times before the player would turn on, and having to remove the battery to turn it off. Now, not matter how many times I try the switch or how long i hold it for, the player won't turn on.
The battery is fully charged and I have never had problems with the headphone jack, and I haven't dropped it or done any damage to it that I think could be causing it. I'm having to turn it on by plugging it into my computer through the USB cable and then unlpugging it once its on, it's a pain doing this and means if I want to use it later I have to keep it on, muted, in my bag all day with the lock turned on (that end of the switch works) then once its turned off I can't turn it on again until I get near a computer again.
I've searched the discussions and knowledge base but haven't found an answer. I've just emailed the support team and I'm waiting for their response, would be interested to know what they've told you.
Just letting you know your not alone and I feel your pain!

  • ZEN Micro won't turn Off and now won't turn

Hi Everyone, hope you can help me out here.
I have been using my ZEN micro for about week now and it was at first working fine.
Then it started not turning off, so i had to pull out the battery.
This is obviously very annoying, but it got worse over time.
It now won't turn on unless i switch it about 30-40 times.
What is going on, is there a way to fix it and is anyone experiencing the same problem?
    Thanks very much,
    Fern

  • Battery won't charge - no battery i

I have a Nomad Jubkebox Zen Extra, bought last year. I'm going on a trip and went to charge the battery and zip, nothing. I just get the "plug" icon that indicates external power. I do not get a "battery" icon. I have tried reset, recue mode for disk clean up, and still the battery won't charge. I have read some postings about jump starting, but they refer to the Zen Micro, am I to asssume it will work for my Zen Extra. Or should I try and find a new battery. I have to admit, I have not use the unit in quite some time. So it may have fully discharged, and I may be out of luck. Anyone who can assist me in this, I would appreciate you help.
    tjgondek

If the player hasn't been used for a long time, and the battery was flat, the battery voltage may have dropped below the point it can be charged. There are a couple of things you can try listed here in the Zen FAQ at?Nomadness.net. Jump starting the battery is dangerous so you do this at your OWN RISK. Lithium Ion batteries can explode or catch fire in certain circumstances.

    Hi,
I can't answer conclusi'vely, but in general I'd agree with your observations.
My brother purchased a Zen Microphoto A while ago with a Wall-wart to USB Charger (generic, labeled for Ipod), this didn't charge it. If it was plugged into a powered hub with the PC off, it still wouldn't work. It would only charge if the PC was on ( suppose the PC was telling the Zen 'it's OK you can charge now' ?) I then got him a genuine Creative Charger from Ebay and it's been fine. I got the wife and my daughter Zen's for Xmas( a Micro photo and a Zen V+) and got a couple of Creative Chargers too, and all's ok with them.
I think your probably right, there's either an internal resistance or voltage on one of the other pins, If I get time I'll take one of the chargers apart (when they're not looking ).
Sorry I couldn't be more help and Welcome to the Forum.

  • Ceative Zen 4GB Won't turn on.

I've had this m3p player for 3 years. I didn't have many problems until today. I was uploading somefiles the mp3. When i unplugged it of the computer the MP3 player froze. I reseted it and it turned off. I've tried charging it but it seems that it's not charging. I am not able to turn it on and unable to reformat it.

"Re: Ceati've Zen 4GB Won't turn on. You may have to do what I suggested several times . Also a wallcharger would be better. You need to have soldering skills to replace the battery. It is soldered to the board it is doable There are tools for opening the player so as not to damage it. View these videos on self repair of Zen players?video

  • My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge

    Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).
Thanks for any soothing words you have, and if you have sad ones, well, I'll vag up and read them, as I've prepared for the worst anyway (sob!). Just please deliver them gently.
    I appreciate it!

Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)
Thanks for sticking with me, Kevin; I always like figgering things out, and your theory's interesting. I'll mention it to the Genius. It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. This way, I'll prolly just have my expectations met.
I appreciate your talking it out with me a lot!
