Zen vision isnt detected by anyth

for a brief moment everything was fine (was using x64), i updated the firmware to the latest, then mediasource crashed and now my zen vision (new) just isnt being detected by windows media player or the mediasource software. i've since updated everything i can (and gone back to using xphome) but still it wont work - i cant install the zen vision pack 5.00.8 update because it wont detect it
the really wierd part is it appears under device manager as working normally, and when i connect it, windows asks whether id like to sync it with media player or media explorer.

ok nevermind, i've solved it - for those interested i took the battery out of it for a minute as a last resort before packing it back up - i spent 5 hours trying to ge this to work and thats all i needed to do?!?! damyn.

my?zen vision :M wont display anything when?i turn it on & my computer cannot recognise it... no my lcd isnt imploded or damaged...
p.s. the buttons wont even glow when on plz help

Are you sure it's turning on? If the display isn't turning on and the buttons don't light up, it sounds like the player isn't powering on at all. Do you hear it playing music?
Have you tried leaving the player charging for a few hours, and then checking if it starts up on the PC? When it's turned on, does the system recognise it at all, does it see an unknown device for instance?

  • Zen vision M not detected by softw

I have had my zen vision for a while and it worked fine but when i went to install windows media player the update for wmp failed and then the player was no longer detected so i tried uninstalling and reinstalling windows media player 0 and i also reinstalled all the creative software but still it isn't detected.
I have the latest firmware and I have tried changing permissions for the usb in the registry. The weird thing is that the zen vison M appears in the device manager under windows portable devices and it doesn't have an exclamation mark beside it or anything so it is working fine. However no program is able to detect it zen vision m media explorer, winamp, real player, media monkey, windows media player all give the same messsage that no device is detected. Whenever I plug it into the computer the option box comes up asking me what i want to do sync using media monkey/windows media player/ creative media source etc but when i select an option it opens the program and it says the player is not detected, which is extremely weird given that windows seemed to detect it a few seconds before and bring up the appropriate options. The charging icon appears on the screen and it charges but the docked screen never comes up. I think it is probably the software. I am running out of things to try and any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have been to the downloads page for it but i cant install the new creative media source as i get a message saying no player detected but i have installed all the newest software other than this.
I think my software is seriously screwed up although then again it might be the player Im not sure.Message Edited by aaahhhh on 0-08-200704:00 PM

Been Fiddling with it all day and now I finally managed to get windows media player installed i go into device manager and there is an exclamation mark beside the player but when i go to update driver i get the message class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device. I'm not sure if this is progress but at least something has happened.
PS i had the latest firmware installed before i installed wmp so this is not my problem.Message Edited by aaahhhh on 0-09-200702:44 PM

  • Zen Vision:M doesn't detect on my win

    Hi Guys,
I have trouble with my zen vision:m. I already installed the software, but when i plugged my player, my windows can not search the driver for my player. My computer is win xp sp2, AMD ,8 Ghz, with chipset nvidia for the USB
Please help me to solve this problem

    Kyman73,
This is true of the majority of our recent players. If the min requirements state Windows XP SP and above, then it is most likely MTP based. Zen Micro Photo, Sleek, Sleek Photo, Vision, Vision:M. The Zen Micro, Touch, and Xtra had firmware updates to give MTP support.
MTP is Media Transfer Protocol. Should be similar to a standard Mass Storage driver used with memory sticks, but is geared more to media files / processes. Microsoft started deploying support for it in WMP0 beta and then there were several updates in SP2. Usually, it is just a matter of making sure WMP0 / SP2 are installed, and that the user has permissions to the system to use it. Some systems will have the registry permissions set to deny for some odd reason, and cannot access the device after it shows properly in device manager. There are many threads here regarding it.

  • Zen vision:M-doesnt turn on for more than a second, second brand new player that isnt worki

    Hello hello.
Just bought a Zen vision:M and I just cant get it working. After troubleshooting for countless hours I finally came to the conclusion that the thing just wasnt charging properly, took it to my retailer, and instantly got a new one. Now this one is exibiting the exact same problem!
Only thing I have done is charge the player overnight with a usb power adaptor (the kind that plugs into a wall socket), then plugging it into my computer, which has all the nessecarry software properly installed already. I get a message saying windows found my new player and would like to install a driver, but it cannot find a driver on the CD or wherever windows normally finds its drivers...
Now i've had it charging in the computers front and back usb ports for hours, and when I attemt to switch it on, I get the creative logo for about 2 seconds, and then nothing, the player just turns off and starts blinking the charging sign in the upper right corner again. ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer doesnt find the player either.]
What could I be doing wrong? It seems so hugely improbable that I got 2 faulty players in a row!
p.s. Im using japanese windows xp media center edition with sp2.

    Anybody?

  • MY CREATIVE ZEN VISION:M ALL OF A SUDDEN ISNT RECONGIZED ON ALL THREE OF MY COMPUTERS!

My PC and one of my laptops is XP sp2 and the other laptop is running Vista. It just doesnt connect to either of them, i've brought a new docking station and it still doesnt charge or connect. i've found it charges fine with mains power tho, im starting to think it might be a hardware problem.
i've tried the guide with the whole devices, drivers and it still doesnt work on ANY computer!! its doing my nut and if i dont get it to work soon im getting a IPOD!!
I WANT SOMEONE TO GET IT TO WORK, PLEASE!!!

I've had the same issue. no one seems to know what the problem is. I recently purchased a DVD player that allows you to connect mp3 players and I attached my zen vision: m and it gives me an error. I'm betting the software gets corrupted easily on these. I have 2 zen vision: m (30GB and 60GB) and neither will connect to a computer. I've already sent both in before and the problem happened again. If someone could help that would be great.

  • MediaSource Recognition Problem? (Zen Vision:

OK, I had a Zen 20GB for the last year and I loved it to bits. Worked great, but just before Christmas it fell in some water and died . I replaced it with a 60GB Zen Vision:M and didn't mind too much because I had less than GB of space left and would have had to replace it soon anyway.
Now onto my question. With my Zen 20GB when I used Media Source (I think v.3 came with it but I can't remember) it would let me search my Zen and edit tracks in it. The search function was IMO fantastic, especially with a music collection as large as mine. Now when I connect my ZV:M it connects fine. I've transferred plenty of music without bother using Windows Media Player.
However, when I open Media Source (both v.3 and v.5) it doesn't give me any option to explore my Zen like it did when I had my 20GB. I can still explore it using the Zen Explorer, but since this doesn't let you edit the properties for several tracks at a time I find it very frustrating.
Also, if I chose to "Transfer Music", "Transfer Playlist" or "Sync Music" in Media Source I get the message "No Creative mp3 player is detected. Please connect your mp3 player and try again."
Now, I know it's connected since I can explore the contents fine in Zen Explorer and I can transfer to it using WMP. Is there something I haven't installed correctly that is stopping Media Source from recognising my player? It just seems strange since it seems to be the only application not working for it.
Thanks for the help (and sorry if this has been covered else where. I searched but couldn't find anything).

You must also download and install the corresponding MediaSource plugin for your MP3 player in order for MediaSource 5 to detect your MP3 player.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB recognition problems...Big t

Hi, 2 days ago i ran into a problem with my Zen. I had to charge it, as the battery was low and had to put some new music on it.. I plugged it into the USB port on my Laptop, where all of it's software is installed. The Zen wasn't recognized. Instead of the charging screen it normally started up with, it started up with the play screen(the screen it shows when a song is playing). I looked at the battery icon in the top right corner, and it wasn't doing anything. I turned the Zen off and started it up again. Nothing changed. I restarted my computer. Nothing changed. I shut down my computer and started it back up again. Nothing changed.
I took it to my desktop computer, a Compaq, and tried it there. It worked, but not how i was expecting it to work. The battery icon started flashing with the little lightning bolt, acknowledging that it was charging. But the play screen was still there. The odd thing with this is, i left the player to charge for several hours. When i came back, the Zen was in some form of idle shut-down. The screen was black, except for the battery icon with the lightning bolt. Oddly enough, he battery bar hadn't filled up anymore than when i left it. Upon unplugging the player though, the Zen turned off. When i turned it back on, the bar had filled up more. It wasn't fully charged though.
I plugged the cable back into it, and this time, the battery icon WASN'T charging. It just had the play screen on. It wasn't doing ANYTHING this time. Frustrated, i went out and bought the wall charger, and now i have a full battery. But it doesn't solve why my computer won't recognize my player.
Today, i un-installed the software that came with the player and re-installed it. It didn't do anything. I installed the software on my desktop computer, and THAT didn't work either. So i came to the website here and used the trouble-shoot guide. That didn't help, and this is where my problem differs from the other posters here who have recognition problems:
Back to my laptop: I have Windows Service Pack 2. I installed Windows Media Player . I went to the Device Manger, like the trouble-shoot guide said to. The kicker: Windows Portable Devices is NOT, i repeat NOT in my Device Manager. Neither does the Creative player either. I clicked on "The player does not appear in Device manager". That link showed me a diagram of a desktop computer, so went back to my desktop computer. I did everything above mentioned, and Windows Portable Devices is not in the device manager of my desktop computer either. Further reading the trouble-shoot guide, i could NOT locate "Other Devices" or "Unknown Devices" in my Device Manger on either desktop or laptop. There's nothing "Creative" related or "Zen" related at all in any of the Device programs.
I don't know what to do. All of the trouble-shoot guides don't discuss my issue at all. Everything is "If an MP3 player is reported working properly in Device Manager, but it is not detected or listed in Windows Media Player or Creative Media Explorer..."
Mine isn't even detected in Device Manager. My Device Manager has nothing regarding my Zen or Windows Portable Devices.
I'm thinking about messing with it in Recovery mode, but i don't want to erase everything i have on here, just to have my player still not work. I'm going to try messing with this at my friend's house to check the cable and the player there too.
But any help regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

I tried my uncle's Zen Vision: M 30GB on my laptop and strange things happened. My laptop recognized the player as an unknown device and said i needed to install the MTP driver. I did that, and upon doing so, my laptop recognized my Uncle's player as a Portable device, allowing me to transfer songs to his player. But it STILL doesn't recognize MY player. Email support says i have to send it in for repairs, but i don't know...
    Any luck with you?

  • Zen Vision M Recognized by XP Pro, but not by Creative Media Organizer or other transfer softw

I have a Zen Vision M. It worked perfectly for months. Suddenly, it wouldn't turn on. I started it in Rescue Mode, did a clean up and several reboots. It started doing a rebuild on every start. Now when I plug it into the USB port, my computer recognizes it. It gives me the portable device icon in the task bar. But, if I try to use it with Windows Media Player 0, Creative Mediasource, Organizer or anything else, it says the device is not connected. I have checked Device Manager, and it shows up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Zen software. I have no issues with device drivers in the Device Manager. It just simply will not show up as connected on any software to transfer music.
If I connect it to the USB, it goes into dock mode. When I boot up any of the software, it shows the docking arrows moving. It's like everything is ok except the one important piece - not being recognized by the various software needed to transfer music.
Please help!? I have a Dell Dimension 8400. I run Windows XP Pro with ALL updates, and SP2. It is completely up to date with all critical updates for XP Pro. This came out of the blue and I have no explanation for it. I hadn't used it for about 3 days, but it worked perfectly up until I turned it on that last time when I got nothing and had to go through all the clean up, reboots, etc. I have done 2 clean ups so far.
Please advise what to do next.
    Thanks.

Ok. I checked my version of XP. It is XP Pro, Version 2002, SP2. I checked and already had the 2 hotfixes that were listed as being needed before proceeding. I followed all the steps and changed the registry key on "everyone" as the instructions stated to do. My ZVM is still not recognized by any of the software for transferring or organizing MP3's. My computer still recognizes that it is attached. It still gives me the device icon in the task bar. It still says it's A-ok in the Device Manager. It does everything, except it is not detected by ANY of my music software. <sigh>? Frustration is at its peak for me right now. I really appreciate all of the efforts. I'm at my wits end now. I have done everything you have indicated I should, but am getting the same results. I did purchase an extended warranty from Circuit City where I purchased this last summer. Is that the next step? Do I need to get this replaced?I love this player and really don't want to go through this again. We had to exchange it twice in the first month because it froze up and wouldn't do a thing. This last one has been perfect. I keep it in a leather padded case at all times. It never has the battery drained. It never gets jostled or bumped or dropped or anything that might damage it. When not being played, it stays on my desk in the case.
Thanks so much for any and all help.

  • Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging

(Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging( Hi, I recently bought a refurbished ZVM that doesnt seem to charging properly. When I first got it, it hadnt been charged in quite some time so the battery was overdead. My PC couldnt detect it when I connected it via usb and it didnt even start charging at all. I then connected it to a wall charger and it finally started charging. The strange thing is it never fully charges. I've charged it twice now, both times for at least about 2 hours, and the battery doesnt go more than 50%. And when I connect it to my PC to transfer songs, instead of resuming its charge, my battery runs out. Is this a case of a faulty battery? I li've in Australia and I bought it from the USA. I would prefer not to go through the trouble of returning it if I could. Anything I should do like leaving it to charge for an even longer time? Also one more thing I should mention. When I remove the wall charger and plug it back in, it takes the ZVM sometime to detect it, about 30 minutes or so, and start charging again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I just mailed mine in for repair today.

  • Got my Zen Vision M: to work but

    Hey everyone,
I got the Zen Vision:M 30gb last Friday and after some trial-and-error I finally got the mp3 player to work. I have some questions and I'm hoping you guys can answer them.
When I first plugged in my mp3 player to my PC it wouldn't turn on (I didn't realize I had to wait a while to let it charge for a bit). Out of confusion, I hit the "reset" button a few times (which by the way didn't do anything, haha). Will this affect the performance of my Zen over time at all?
I also plugged and unplugged my Zen player several times because I was wondering why my computer wouldn't detect it. At one point, the device's screen finally turned on, but I still couldn't get my PC to detect it... so I once again unplugged and (re)plugged the cable. My main concern here is whether doing this will have any short or long-term detrimental effect on my battery? I hear this shouldn't be a problem on lithium(?) batteries, but I thought I'd just make sure here! Also, any tips you guys recommend on how to make best use out of my battery?
Finally, here's a noob question: can I copy/paste my songs to my mp3 player directly via Windows Explorer rather than using any kind of software?
Thanks for taking the time to read this! And I deeply apologize for my computer illiteracy!

  • HELP ! Need help with the MyZenChecker. (Zen Vision:M isn't charging for first ti

I bought a Zen Vision : M some days ago. It won't charge. I?have WinXP,Service Pack and WMP0. I got GOOD on everything on MyZenChecker. I use the USB at the back. I've also tried with a USB charger which I put into the wall, but that didn't work either. I tried fix2, but I didn't get everything on how to get it work.
I download it. Double click the .bat file. It comes a black route. It's written that it was succesful. Then after that what should I do in details, please ?
I tried to restart the computer right after getting successful on the .bat file with the Zen connected. Nothing happens after I turn it on again. No blue light or anything. The computer can't detect it. Am i supposed to connect the Zen after restart ? Should it come a blue light right after restart or should I let charge for 5+ hours without the blue light and then connect it again to get blue light.
Please tell me what to do in details step by step. Thx

you shd connect it and reboot your PC. the myzenusb.bat is to amend your open up your USB permission. no blue LED light flashing means its not charging. I suggest you exchange this with your retailer since you just bought it

  • Is it possible to charge Zen Vision:M without drivers install

Ok, here's the deal.. I bought my Vision:M, installed the software on my home computer, charged the player up, put my songs on.. Everything went fine. I had to go out of town, so I brought my laptop, thinking I'd use it to recharge my player. However, when I tried to install the software, I found out that it's not compatible with anything other than Windows XP (I have windows 2000 professional on my laptop) So, I tried just plugging my player into the USB port on the laptop anyway. The player turned on, and the lightning bolt came on over the battery. Hooray! But, it never did actually charge. Left it plugged in overnight (about 6 hours) and in the morning it had the same amount of charge as when I had first plugged it in. So, today I visited a couple electronics stores to try to find a car charger.. no luck. Nobody had a charger made by creative labs, and the "uni'versals" I tried didn't work.
I bought and tried two. Both caused the player to turn on when plugged in, but neither actually charged it (the lightning bolt never even came on over the batttery pic) I can't seem to find drivers anywhere for this that will work with Windows 2000. Found a 39 meg file on this site here (the player organizer, I think) but even that wouldn't install, because it said it failed to detect a supported product (my zen was plugged in, but now has no battery at all left) So, sorry to ramble so much... Can anyone help Is there any way for me to charge this thing I'm gonna have a LONG dri've home (400 miles) and don't want to do that without my tunes. Thanks in advance!

I use this one: Griffin Technology iTrip Auto Uni'versal Plus (7259TRIPUNP)http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Griffin-Technology-iTrip-Auto-Uni'versal-Plus-7259TRIPUNP/sem/rpsm/oid/68474/catOid/-2927/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do?Its an FM transmiitter and if you take along the sync adapter and your USB cable you can plug it in to the Itrip and the Zen Vision M will charge as your are listening to it.
