Zen Vision: M apparently enjoys rebuilding the libr

Well I have 30g Zen Vision:M, and everytime I reboot or it has to do its loading thing (where It starts up for about 5 seconds before it plays music after it's been off for 5+ hours or something), It starts rebuilding the library.
I have tried the Clean up, and am thinking about formating it and starting anew, but I don't want to do that if it is something else, and maybe someone knows.

I am having the exact same problem. I came to the forums hoping for some help. Every time I turn on the Zen Vision:M after it has been turned off for a bit of time, it immediately starts to rebuild the library. I have done a Clean up. I have done reboots. But every time, it immediately wants to rebuild the library. It has worked perfectly up to this point and began doing this out of the blue after we had not used it for several days. I assumed it was because it had sat for so long without being used, but then discovered it does it every single time.
Since I have over 7 gigs loaded onto this 30 gig unit, I really don't want to have to format and do this all over again.
Please give any advice you can about this. It's extremely irritating to have to sit and wait for my huge library to rebuild every time I want to use the Vision M.
Thanks so much!

  • After having to reset my Zen Vision M, it now rebuilds the library every time I turn it

My Vision M froze on me about a month ago, and I had to reset it to get it to turn off and back on. When I reset it, it went through the whole Rebuilding process, and then was on again. But half of my music was missing. And now every time I turn it off and turn it back on, it goes through the rebuilding process.
Is there a way to make it stop this. I use it in my car, and every time I get in, I listen to the radio while it's rebuilding. And then I end up forgetting that I even have it with me. Having to wait a few minutes to listen to my music, when I usually only have a little more than a few minutes to listen to music when I use it on my way to and from work, makes it nearly useless.
If I format it back to factory settings, will it fix this issue? Or am I just going to need a new MP3 player? Those Zen Vision W's sure do look really nice. But I don't have the money for that. I'd prefer to just find a fix for this.
    Thank you for your help.

    MonkeyPeaches,
It could help to update the firmware, and try the Clean Up option in the Recovery Mode menu:

Hopefully that Clean Up option should clear that problem for you. If it doesn't, it might help to do a full format of the unit before you transfer music back to it. That will remove everything on the player though, so back your music up if you haven't done so already.

  • ZEN Vision:M problem selecting from the men

Just like the title says, I'm having trouble accessing any of the menus(photos, videos, extras, etc..) from the menu on my ZEN Vision:M. I've tried pressing the touchpad to select a menu option but no luck, I've also tried just pressing the "right" button to enter a sub menu but no luck. I can scroll up and down in the menu and if a song is playing I can also adjust the volume but its like i have no option to select. I downloaded the newest version of firmware by my model, I've tried formating the player but still stuck with the same problem.
Also, when in recovery mode I cant select any of the options listed in the menu.
I just bought this Device from DELL.com w/ Extended Service Protection but Im beginning to think I got a defecti've product.
If anyone could help with this frustration it'd be great
    Thanks for reading.

I just contacted Dell and I'm returning for a refund. After several more attempts to try and reboot, relaod firmware to try and solve any problem with it I decided to call it quits and just chalk it up to a PoS mp3 player. I have had a 20g Samsung player for 3 years now and have had no problem with it at all. The only thing is that its not compatible with subscription services such as Napster to Go. I think I will look into a new Samsung or something else.
    Good Luck

  • Creative Zen Vision M (30gb) - Is it the end?

    Hi all,
I've read a lot of posts and think the only way to find a possible solution to my problem is to just post it....
I've had my Creative Zen Vision M (30gb) for about?2.5 years, apart from crashing a few times, I've always loved it and would never go near Ipod!
Lately however it's done something, that it has done before which is to suddenly 'remove' about 2000 tracks, it would go funny, crash and reset a few times, recharge with the plug and it was fine again, the tracks 'reappeared'.
Now it seems when it happened this recent time, 3000 tracks went and I was left with about 000. So i tried formatting everything cause it just wouldn't rectify itself, then I chose to reload the firmware but everytime I tried to connect it to my laptop it would say my player wasn't connected.
I have recently baught a new laptop with Windows 7 and even without the software it detects it fine and I think I could just drag music over to it now. BUT - It only has 50mb of memory! Plsu MP3 Recovery Tool and online detection firmware thingy justy doesn't think my player is connected or says cannot update firmware on windows 7?
So my questions?are - how do i fix it's Is my memory fried, would it be worth getting out the old laptop? Where do i go if i want to repair it's Even if it detects it in XP, the software doesn't detect the player.
Can anyone shine any light here? Am I forced to buy another Creative product or do I jump ship?

If the XP computer has WMP installed it may not detect the player (the firmware file) It works best on XP /SP2 WMP0 installed. The issue with WMP is a sticky in the MP3 players forum.

  • Will my old wall charger for Zen Vision:M will work with the (New) Z

i bought a wall charger from amazon for my Zen Vision: M 30GB, will it work with the (New)Zen? i just bought the Zen 6 GB and it doesn't comes with an adapter, pretty bad move there, well, does it has the same plug? i hope it's compatible. thanks

    sebastiankf,
That third party adapter from your Amazon link is hard wired specifically for the Vision:M and will not work with any other Creative player unless it has the same pin-outs using the same docking interface. The Creative AC-5V adapters will either have a coaxial power plug connection that will work with most of the Creative hard disk based players, except for the original NJB and Zen Micro, or a USB Mini-B plug that will work with all of the flash players that have a USB connection and the Zen Micro.

  • ZEN VISION:M What happened to the Album art???/What do you use to transf

I've had my zen vision m since last summer and absolutely love it. Recently though I reformatted and added my entire library with the zen vision m media explorer like I always do. I have always tagged my music with musicmatch jukebox so that the album art shows up on my zen. This time however there is no album art. What's going on, is it the new firmware?
How do the rest of you add your tracks? There's at least fi've different ways I've discovered to do it, but in the past the media explorer was always the best.

    Hi,
I think you're in fullscreen mode. Press F11 to turn it off/on.

  • Zen Vision M: Artist tags (recognizing "the&quo

Not a major problem, but it would be great if someone knows something you can download to the Creative Zen Vision:M so that it detects when there is the word "the" at the beginning of the Artist Name tag and ignore.
That way, when it lists out artists all the bands that start with "the" will not be pushed together and towards the end.
Anybody know a way to get around this?
    Thanks

Ah yes... The old word "The" in artist name request. This is a request that CL has had a few times over the years. I know the first time I requested it was back in Nov 2004;http://forums.americas.creative.com/....id=2735#M2735Most other brand software figured out how to do this years ago, but for whatever reason CL likes to have "The Beatles" under "T" instead of under "B" where it goes. • Plugged my Zen Vision W in before installing the software. Now its stuck in docked mo

Okay, I know it was a stupid mistake, but I somehow missed the part in the directions that said NOT to plug in the Zen before installing. I plugged it in during installation, which I've always done with my other creative mp3 players. Big mistake. Now it's stuck in docked mode AND won't turn off. My computer also won't recognize the player. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

    whoo
    ps.
.. I forgot to put this stuff in: . What you have tried so far to solve the problem.Reinstalling the software and rebooting. If this is related to software or connection issues, state the software you are using, version, and the version of Windows. Windows XP. But I don't know if it's connection or not.

  • Scroller Button - when on ZEN VISION? Its ace on the ZEN XTRA why do people use awkward touch pa

Do you prefer the inprecise touch pad or the fast button?
    Thanks

I just got a Zen nano plus with scroll button, and don't care much for it. If you don't press it exactly straight, you end up doing something you don't want, and in some cases it's a lot of work to recover (example...in the middle of an 8 hour audiobook, hit the button and accidentally go to the beginning of the file and start the whole book over, with no easy way to get back where you were).
My preference is the system used on Cowon's F...a little button/joystick in the center of a 4-button touch pad, and the functions of the joystick can be modified in the player setup (so if you push it the wrong way, it goes back/forward 30 seconds instead of to the beginning of the file or the next file).
I have friends who have not bought the Zen specifically because of the scroll button, so I'm not the only one who thinks it's not the best.

  • ZEN vision M not detected by the

hi. i posted a message earlier. now i have installed all the softwares, window XP service pack 2. but unfortunately i still have the same problem, PC saying that '' a high speed USB device is connected to a slow speed USB port '' and the player cannot be detected.
the minimum system requirements for the product is '' USB . port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfer) ''. so even if i dont have a USB 2.0 port, there shouldnt be a problem, right?
i am really frustrated, cant do anything with my new toy. please help

Duplicate post (I answered in the thread, and it's better to keep a problem within the same thread rather than creating a new thread)

  • CREATIVE ZEN VISION M.. Adapter for the

Hello I wanted to know if they have teien thought to extract to the market an adapter for the car, this way like the ipod.

    Krazyfalcon,
Mostly because our website doesn't have a "not yet in stock" setting. A product is either "in stock", "out of stock", or "backordered" with backordered meaning you can put a order in for shipment when stock comes available. Stock shouldn't be too long in coming and I know that I and the forum moderators are keeping an eye on it so that you all will know as early as possible when it comes in stock.

  • Zen vision crashes all the t

I've bought a zen vision last week, and since the first day, I had to pull out the battery several times because the player didn't respond anymore.
If I choose "clean up" in the recovery mode, the player indicates : "scan disk..." and nothing else happens.
I've allready installed various versions of firmware, and I've allready formatted the player with my pc..
I really don't know what to do..
    Can anyone help me?

You could also try a disk cleanup from rescue mode, but if that doesn't solve it then it would seem like your player is faulty. Best to contact support, click the Support > Contact Customer Support link on this page.

  • Help Getting Started with the Zen Vision:M (Z

Hi,I just got my ZVM and want to get started with it. I have a couple of questions, first:?. I have Windows Vista. Can I just plug in the ZVM and go without using the Installation CDs? Or do I still need to install something off of the installation discs?2. Why 2 installation discs? There is with a black cover that says Easy Start CD and has the Urge and Window Media Player logo at the bottom. The other is just in a plain white bordered sleeve with a light colored disc that says Zen Vision: M Installation CD at the bottom. I think I want to start with the light colored disc, but want to make sure. Thanks.

I think that the White disk that says Zen on it is the one you want it has Creative Media Source on it and is a very useful tool for me, the other disk has Windows Media Player on it and will also install a connection to a website that you can purchase tracks from (which i took off as soon as i found this out) not the WMP though, for some reason i could not get my Zen to work properly without the WMP loaded on my pc, however i use the Creative Media Source instead of the WMP.

  • Zen Vision M Probl

My Zen Vision M is now Rebuilding Library each time I turn it on. The MP3 will play songs but not display artist, song title, and time remaining. It has deleted all my pictures, but the music is still there. Each time I connect to?my computer it does not recognize player and before this there was no problems.

So I tried something and it made my computer recognize my player, i ran the recovery mode on the player. You haveto turn it off and then turn the power on but dont let go of the power, hold it on the power, then immediately stick something into the reset button on the bottom and press it once. then the screen will go black, when the creative logo goes back on, let go of the power. It will take u to the recovery. Then u can either run cleanup which will not erase any data, reformat which will erase, or reload? new firmware, which u can only do if u have new firmware on hand. Then back up ur data and Then try to run the recovery program from the creative website.
