Zen Vision M - help with mp3 sound quality - decreases after trans

I use the Media Explorer to transfer songs from cd to the player. After?recently upgrading my OS to the XP service pack 2 (even though I don't know if this has anything to do with it), the sound quality of the mp3's has decreased when playing back on the player. Sound is real tinny. I checked the settings and?it's set to the highest quality. I always keep it at that and never change it. What am I missing here?

Check the transfer settings on WMP, it will often override and convert content when you transfer it even when you don't want it to.
Plug in your ZVm and wait for it to be recognized by your computer.Run Windows Media Player(in WMP)Tools->OptionsClick on "devices" tab (You should see your ZVM displayed in list)Click your ZVM in the list, and select propertiesClick the Quality TabChaing the settings from "Automatic" quality detection to manual and set alll the settings to the highest quality. Then give your transfers a try again.

  • Zen Vision:M - help with moving files around once loa

Guys and Gals, i recently bought the Zen Vision:M and need some help. Once i loaded songs or vdos into it i find that i am not able to move these files from one folder to another. I am using the zen vision explorer program that came with it. it allows me to right click then select 'cut' or 'copy' but then when i navigate to where i want to paste it the paste option is greyed out when i right click. anyone have a solution for this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

it sucks... you want a song in one folder like the album into another right? Yeah you have to modify the ID tags to do that.... I took all my songs and changed the album name to ALL for my zvm using snackamp. Look it up it works fine. You can choose the songs you want to a particular album (works for 200 at a time) and choose the album for them all. Thats the only advantage of iPod i'd have to say... the ALL option under songs... so yeah get snackamp, use it, take all the songs off your zen and re-add them and it should be fine.

  • Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player does not resp

My Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player stopped working. It does not turn on, does not charge, does not respond to anything. Is the battery dead or what would be the problem. Please help.

There are a multitude of problems that could be causing your player to exhibit this behavior in addition to battery failure, including the failure of the main logic board. If the player has been dropped a few times, exposed to excessi've heat, or high humidity/water, the problem might not be the battery. On the other hand, if the battery has been allowed to fully exhaust on a regular basis and left uncharged for long periods, it is possible that the battery could be dead, but LIon batteries usually last at least 2-3 years with regular use and normal recharging practices if they haven't been abused.

Is Apple going to manufacture IPAD with improved sound quality?  I don't like to stream movies on IPAD due poor sound quality.

We have no way of knowing Apple's future plans. Speakers or headphones make a huge difference, maybe you can give either of them a try.

  • HELP! iPhoto 08 Quality loss after edits

HELP! iPhoto 08 Quality loss after edit!
Any edited version, no matter how minor, causes the file size to be cut in half!
    Original 3872 x 2592 is 3.1mb at 300dpi .
    Edit version 3870x2590 becomes 1.5Mb at 72dpi.
    B&W conversion 3872x2592 becomes 1.6mb at 72dpi.
Seems like a major degradation! iPhoto 6 wasn't this bad.
DPI change is not a problem but the file size change sure is!
PLEASE! any ideas before I upgrade all my files to 08. Please - don't say Aperture, it's still too slow and cumbersome. Trying to avoid Lightroom and stay within Apple sphere.

It really isn't a big degradation. There is a jpg compression when you make any edit but you might be hard pressed to see the reduction unless you're enlarging/printing the file to very large sizes. The most critical part of an image file is the number of pixels in it.
The reduction in size depends on the image content of the photos. If there's a lot of the same color, i.e. like lots of blue sky or a same color wall, that type of image will see much more compression than a very intricate photo. Also when removing the color information for a B/W conversion reduces the file size considerably. Do a Google search for jpeg compression and you'll find some very informative descriptions on how the compression is performed and what part image detail plays in the resulting file size.
You would have to compress the file a number of additional times time before you'd see the change. And with iPhoto's Revert to Original capability, you can start a new edit fresh with the untouched digital negative.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Creative Zen Vision:M - awful or no sound at

    Hello,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen Vision:M. The player has been running extremely slow for about 2 months and it was bought in January 2006. The player crashes when I play an mp3 file. The FM radio works just fine. I hear a lot of noise or the sound is choppy. I have tried formatting the player and update the firmware, but the problem still persists.
Could somebody please help me out with my issue? And also, if somebody has a link to an older firmware release, please provide one just to check if it is from the firmware.
    Thank you in advance!
    Regards,

Sounds like a hard-dri've problem - I'd try formatting the hard-dri've, if that doesn't help then I think you may need to return it to Creative to get it repaired. Sorry i can't be more positi've!

  • Zen Vision M:60 with USB host and Panasonic Camcorder SDR-

I own a Panasonic Camcorder SDR-S0 which stores its data on a SD card. I'm thinking about buying the Zen Vision M:60 to use it as a sort of "imagetank" for importing the videos when on vacation. Normally the data on the SD card are transferred by connecting the camera to the PC & transferring them with the Panasonic software MotionSD studio .2E. Another possibility is using Pictbridge. The resulting format of the recorded data is mpeg2.When on vacation I don't have my PC with me & I would like to transfer the data on the Vision M:60. I read that for importing photos this should not give any problems, but no trace of user experience of importing video, without passing thru a PC. I did following test to check which sort of data are on the SD card before transmission to the PC, by reading the SD card with a USB cardreader?: it contained data with .MODextenstion (which is apparently a MPEG-2 codec), .MOI?extension files (which I think is not?needed) & a .PGI file?(which I think is needed?for?graphics printers ?). I copied one?MOV00B.MOD file to my PC and tried to play it. I succeeded without any problem to play it on Windows Media Player. My question : does anyone has any experience with the transfer of this sort of data to the Zen Vision M:60 using the USB host connected either to the digital camcorder or to a cardreader and then importing the .MOD files. If so, could the data be played back on the Vision M:60 ?Thanks for your help ?[color="#ff0000"]As I want to buy the Zen Vision M:60 (bargain price :smileytongue I hope someone with experience on this matter will respond urgently as I leave on holiday next week !!! According to the list of tested products here:?http://www.creative.com/products/pro...24&product=433?it's been tested on both Nikon Coolpix P3?and Nikon D200. So?I'd make the assumption that it probably does. It works with my Fuji S5600, and the list above shows they?only tested ?E900 and A600.

  • Need help with adding sound

I want to add a short soundclip that plays when my nav bar
loads. I edited down a song in Garageband to 3 seconds, then I
exported it to iTunes. I assume I have to convert it to mp3 to put
it into my Flash file, so my first question is this... how many
kbps should I save the mp3 at? Normally I have mp3's in iTunes that
are 128 or 192, but would this make my swf filesize too big? Can
    anyone suggest a setting?
Then, once I convert my mp3 in iTunes, how would I bring it
into my flash file and trigger it so it plays when the nav bar
    loads? Thanks!

I don't know much about actionscript so please bear with me.
When you say create the sound object, what exactly does that mean?
Where do I put that code? I'd like the sound to trigger after the
preloader loads everything and while the animation plays (logo
flies in, nav bar swoops in from the right, pretty basic). Does
this mean I should put the trigger on frame 3 since the preloader
is taking up the first 2 frames? And does the sound object code go
somewhere different or do I add it above the trigger code on frame
    3?
Also, the way I'm setting up my Flash animation is that I'm
going to put the same swf on the top of every one of my html
tables, so every time the user clicks a button in the nav, the nav
bar animation will reload and show the proper page (I'm not doing
my whole site in Flash, just the nav and bringing into
Dreamweaver). It might get a little annoying if the sound plays
each time the user clicks a button, so is there any way to set it
up with Actionscript that the sound only plays when the user
initially goes to the index page? Or will I have to make a separate
swf without the sound and put that on the top of all the other
    pages beside the homepage?
With the mp3, I encoded it at 128 and it sounds really good,
I was just wondering if it's overkill just for a 3 second byte.
Does anyone else have any experience with this? I'm really not sure
of what is an appropriate file size, is there a number where I
shouldn't go over? It's a nav bar animation so I'd like it to load
pretty fast. Right now the file is around 85 KB without the sound,
I have no idea whether this is high or low...
    Thanks for your help!

  • Zen Vision M errors with USB Recognit

Alright I had my Zen Vision now for over and a half years and I've loved it and it always worked perfectly beside some headphone issues. But today I go to plug my Zen into my computer and it doesn't start charging it nor does my computer recognize that something has been plugged into my USB port. The charging is not an issue for me because my Zen came with the DC power wall charger but I can't get any music onto my player. The funny thing is though that when the player is turned off and I connect it to the computer it turns on as if it was going to start charging and syncing but it just never gets to it.
I tried all USB ports in the back and it the front and its not a power issue because its fully charged due to the wall charger. It works great and I tried reseting it to the point where is rebuilt itself and I'm in the process of draining the battery then recharging it to see if that helps but I doubt it since the reseting didn't help. I can't add firmware and I refuse to format it if I even can do it from just the player which I dont know if I can because I have too much music on there.
Could it be an issue with the adapter that switches from DC charger to A/V output and USB? I don't know if its an issue with the adapter because the DC charger works so I don't know. I bought the extended warranty so thats not an issue but is the adapter covered in the warranty? Any help would be great and I'm a dedicated Creative fan thinking about getting the Stone Plus or another smaller player so I hope I can fix this issue here.
    Thanks.

would you like to try this? works for melink

  • Convert to MP3 (sound quality)?

I have two questions about converting Itunes files to MP3s, but I will include the Itunes instruction here, so you'll know what I'm referencing.  I have an Imac with OS 10.7.4 and here are the instructions (italicized):
You can convert a song to a different file format (and keep a copy of the original). For example, you can save a copy of a compressed song file such as MP3 or AAC in an uncompressed song format (AIFF or WAV).
When converting from a compressed to uncompressed file format (for example, from MP3 to AIFF), you shouldn’t notice any reduction in sound quality. However, when converting between compressed formats (for example, MP3 and AAC), you may notice a reduction in the sound quality. For the best results, if you want your music encoded in a different file format, import the music again from the original source using the new encoding format.
Important:  You can’t convert iTunes Store purchases unless they’re iTunes Plus songs.
    HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:
    1. What type of file type is an Itunes music file?  Is it compressed?
    2.  Will I lose sound quality if I convert an Itunes music file to MP3 in order to move it over to a Garmin GPS (which supports only MP3s) and therefore would it be best to follow their instructions to reimport my music using an MP3 encode?
    Thank you in advance!

    1. What type of file type is an Itunes music file?  Is it compressed?
If it is something you bought from the iTunes Store it is 256k AAC compressed.  If it is something you imported from another source such as a CD then the format will depend upon what settings you used.  Get information on a track in iTunes and see what "kind" the file is.
    2.  Will I lose sound quality if I convert an Itunes music file to MP3 in order to move it over to a Garmin GPS (which supports only MP3s) and therefore would it be best to follow their instructions to reimport my music using an MP3 encode?
Technically, yes, you will lose sound quality in any conversion to compressed with each conversion you  do (a photocopy of a photocopy...).  Whether or not you notice the quality difference is really an individual thing.  Technically if you have an audio CD you imported into AAC and now want it as mp3 then you will get better quality by re-importing from the CD as mp3.  I have in a few cases exported from other formats to mp3 and not noticed a quality difference, but then I don't have $200 speakers attached to my computer, nor the ears to appreciate them.

  • Help!  Poor Sound Quality

I have had my Shuffle for 5 months, all of a sudden the sound quality is horrible (connecting to tape deck in car and also in headphones). i have 'restored' factory settings and put all of my music back on, but the sound is still poor (lots of hissing and i have to turn the volume up real high to even hear the music), PLEASE HELP!

In my experience, the FM transmitters have an inferior sound quality to the cassettes. Could be the transmitter I have though.
I tried a modulator again recently with my shuffle (after I gave it up 6 or so years ago when I didn't have a car CD player); with the modulator, getting the radio to tune to the right frequency (the modulator also had a dial to select a freq of between something like 87.9 and 91.1) was tricky and I needed to turn the shuffle volume way up.
My friend bought a satellite radio that came with a built in FM modulator, as well as a car adapter kit that had a cassette interface. For her, the cassette also sounds much better.

  • HELP!  The Sound Quality is poor on my IPOD

I just purchased an I POD 30G - Have downloaded songs directly from my CD collection... they sound great, except for those scratched CD's... My issue however is with other songs I had on my computer previously from other downloaded sites. Some play very loud and others play very soft and low... there is no consistency & its getting frustrating... I looked on this site for some help, but did not find anything concrete... is there a way to have all my songs on the IPOD play at the same sound quality/level? without having to go into each song & manually manipulate it? Please help....

I tried this already based on some of my previous
research... Once I clicked on it... it seemed to go
through all my songs and re-adjust them... but it did
    not work...
iTunes scans for volume automatically whenever you import songs, regardless of the 'Sound Check' setting. You also need to set 'Sound Check' on your iPod.

  • Help Help Help...sound quality suddenly horrible!

So, first of all I'll admit that my mini has been through a lot-its been dropped down stairs, things like that. But it has always worked perfectly besides being a bit scratched up--untill last week. All of a sudden, when I listen to any song on my ipod, the sound quality is just terrible. Every files plays through just fine, but the vocals sound distant and it's a little garbeled, definitely not listen-able..even though thats not a word. And no, it didnt start doing this right after I dropped it, I did drop it a couple weeks before it stopped working properly, though. And I've also tried different headphones, so I know that's the problem. Please help..I'm in trouble without it! And if I have to send it back to the company again....grr. Is this even covered under warranty? I dont even know what THIS is!

    Marina,
A lot of people are having trouble with updates, I'd say "If it ain't broken then don't fix it". Do not download any more updates if the version you have works fine. That's too late for you I see...
I've never had a problem with updates so I always download them every time there's a new one.
Have you played your music in iTunes? Do you still hear static, or is it only in your iPod?
So I see going back to the old version of updater didn't work, hmm..tough case.
Have you dropped your iPod? Got it wet somehow?
Have you tried to reset it? Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons - at the same time - until you see the Apple logo. This is best done when your iPod is connected to your computer and it might take several attempts.
