Zen Vision M issue- Freezing on "Creative" startup scr

Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for your help. I am currently using a Creative Zen Xtra 30 and love it. Have never had a problem with it. I just purchased this Zen Vision M (30 gig), turned it on and it locked up on the Creative startup screen. I've tried everything i could think of, including turning the power off (won't let me unless i drain the battery), using the reset button (just essentially restarts the unit and freezes again on the startup screen) and doing combinations. I don't hear or feel the HDD firing up at all. Is this thing DOA? Is there anything else I can do? Please help! Thank you very much!?Brian

    Hi guys,
    I bought my Zen Vision M:30GB 2 years ago. It was a regenerated model by Creative.
    I'm fully satisfied of this product, i think the best of his category, but It has this problem since two years...Sometimes when i skip between mp3s (especially in random mode) it freezes and remains on the screen of current mp3, blocked...even I try to touch all buttons it doesn't unblock and i have to reset with a clip in the reset hole.
    I've noticed that this problem comes especially when i use random mode of entire library (about 4000 songs) or however with a long playlist...it doesn't happen when i listen a single album (about 20 mp3s in playlist)
    Sincerely i'm a little bored ...
    I tried to do some clean and format up by the system menu, but the problem persists...
    I've also thinked the problem could be because there are in library mp3 with variant bitrate...or a physical problem (I hope not)
    What do you think of?

    The battery will only last about 3yrs regardless of use.You will need to change it. Did you scroll down to see the album,picture,track counts? Did you partition part of the dri've for removable storage.     When did you get it's Has it been dropped, shaken hard or something like that? They are not made to be used while jogging or workingout because it is a HARDRIVE. The dri've can be replaced the player is easy to oopen with the right tools. If it is still under warranty opening will void the warranty.     I have a new problem with my trusty Zen Vision. It will not allow me to add two different songs with the same name from my PC Library. Is there a way round this ? Thanks

    When I rip tracks from CDs I name them this way "track # - song name". So a song would look like "0-Day Tripper" and so on for each track of the album. If there are 2 songs with the same name it wont matter as the filename would still be unique. Eg.. if 'Day tripper' is twice on one album as track 2 and 8, then the file name would look something like '02-Day Tripper' & ' 08-Day Tripper'.
    That's how I name the files. I have a feeling if you added track numbers to either the tag or the filename that may sort out this issue.
    Are you using the Creative Centrale software to transfer your music?

    As said above you can not move mp3 files between folders, which I also find very annoying, along with not being able to rename files or albums on the player itself. Hopefully Creative makes these minor modifications for the benefit of future purchasers, other than that the player is great.

Any video converted comes over with ONLY audio, black screen (? no video display )This happened with the original firmware and software. I recently had to reformat my hdd on my PC, so i reinstalled the creative software, but everytime I connect my Vision M via USB, it freezes, and windows says that it malfunctioned. Please Help. I have used it before and it worked fine, I don't understand. I couldn't even upgrade firmware since it freezes when I connect it.

    A few days ago I purchased a Creative Zen Vision: M mp3 player.
    Creative Zen Vision : M
    So anyway, I put a few song on here about 4 or 5 playlists and all of a sudden... Its went into recovery mode.
    The only options its giving me are the following and its repercutions:
    v0.0.22
    Clean Up - I enter this mode and it gets stuck.
    Format All - I've entered this mode already, but it says something about Harddisc error?!
    Reload Firmware - Same as format all, it says something about a harddisc error.
    Reboot - All this does is restart the mp3.
    Im stuck with a brand new mp3 that cannot do any of the functions it says it can do.

    I think waiting more then 5 minutes would wield a better result. But I think the player might have a defecti've harddri've. You may need to contact Creative support about it.

    Help! my Zen Vision M keeps freezing I restarted it but this problem keeps happening. I thought it was a virus so i checked and no virus I've tried everything! Is there a software that i can download to help me with this problem?

    File system and even file corruption can cause the units to freeze up. Often people find the device will freeze on teh same song. This can be caused by corruptions on the file system on the device or a bad file. You can try going into recovery mode and doing a repair, which is the basic equivilent of running chkdsk on a windows system. And it will go through and check the file system on the device and repair any problems.
    If a specific song/video keeps freezing would try retransfering the file or possibly reconverting the song/video as that often fixes the problem. Some of the devices (old stock) that come of retailers shelves are running really old firmware that often had bugs in them as well that would cause lock ups and "freezes" so its a good idea to try to run a fairly new firmware on your device.

    I just ordered a Zen Vision M Black through the Creative site directly (4/23/06), and I was wondering if anyone knows about how long it's going to take to get back into stock (it's listed as backordered). I emailed Creative long before I bought the item, and I haven't received a response yet. If anyone has heard anything, I'd love to hear it.
    Also, let me know if I made the right decision. I'm upgrading from a 20GB Zen touch that I love, because the Vision M has more storage, and video.

    update audible still can't activate the zen, and it still keeps crashing the wireless adaptor, which inturns causes a stop error and crashes the system. i can't win =/

  • Serious Issues with Creative Zen Vision M 3

    This all started when I was fast forwarding through a track and it freezes. So, I did reset and it's in recovery mode, whereas usually it will just restart again.So I tried turining it on and off and was still stuck in Recovery Mode. Tried plugging it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. I did everything the website told me to, but my computer will not recognize that it is plugged into the usb. When I have it docked it will not let me do anything at all. I tried to clean it up and it stays in "scan disk" for hours,I tried to format it, knowing it would erase everything but hoping it would fix, and when I tried to format it, I got a message saying "harddisk problem", when I rebbot it simply reboots back to Recovery Mode and the other option I have is reload firmware, and it prompts me to start updating firmware, but my computer won't even recognize that it is plugged in , in the first place, so I am at a loss with what to do next. The best help Creative can give me is email support. As most of you probably have found out there is no technical support phone number, only for returns/exchanges. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference, which it probably does since nothing seems to work on Winows Vista, and when I look at My computer, it shows that the device is present, but yet I can't access it through any media source or when trying to install this firmware? garbage.     That is just crazy, I am so sorry....Mine was bought just this past June, my boyfriend bought it for me because ipods seem to have really negati've reviews when it came to needing repairs and so on... It hasn't even been a year!! I pasted the st and second email below. I can't believe how frustrating this must be for you. I am still extremely annoyed though, it seems like the only option I have now is to send it in , and god knows how much it may cost to fix it. They really do have some customer service issues.     My computer isn't recognizing the player. I can't get out of recovery
    mode. When I try to format it says there is a hard disk error. When I

  • Creative Zen Vision 30Gb Stuck in Recovery Mode, Freezes when trying to deal with Firmware

    My Zen Vision is stuck in Recovery Mode. The PC recognizes it but it comes up as 50mb Storage Media. When you touch Reload Firmware or Format All, it freezes and you have to pull the battery out to shut it off. I don't know what to do. Charges fine, never said anything about HARDWARE issues, just can't get it to not freeze when trying to load firmware back onto it.

    I did the same thing, my unit was working perfectly.
    I just read that these players have a laptop 2.5 hard dri've installed in the unit. If this is true, the next chance I get, I will take my unit apart (40 gig nomad zen xtra) and see if I can reinstall the firmware directly. It's probably what they do at the repair sho

    Hi my Creative ZEN vision M has stopped working, i was at shcool, worked fine when i went in, when i was leaving i turned it on, started loading as normal, it got stuck on the "ZEN" loading screen and wouldnt trun off, so i let its battery run out and then plugged it into my PC. It then didnt respond straight away, only the blue light on the lock button was flashing,took about 40mins later the battery icon appeared on the player and charging, also appeared on my Dekstop as in but Creative labs couldnt find it to change music etc.When it had charged the same thing keeps happening, i have tried reseting it and holding the power down for 30 seconds, cant find anyone with a simmilar problem.

    If that does not help, you might want to get in touch with support for further assistance.
