  • Creative Zen Vision:M FM Radio Completely Disappeared!! (Reinstalling firmware doesn't hel

I turned on my Creative Zen Vision: M, and the FM Radio wasn't there. It just simply disappeared; it's not listed on the Main Menu, nor is it listed as an option from "Configure Menu". This has nothing to do with a new Firmware update that removes the?radio; my player was not connected to?my computer. I have had my player since July of 2006, so it's obviously too late to return it. I've looked around on the forum and many other people have had the same problem, but the only solution has been to reinstall/upgrade the firmware. This doesn't solve the problem. I've tried everything on the recovery menu--formatting, rebooting, cleaning disk, etc, but nothing has worked. I've also contacted Customer Support, but from what I've heard, it's probably not going to help. Has ANYONE been able to solve this problem? It's really frustrating that so many people have this problem and nothing has worked.

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • Zen Vision: M - MTP device driver prob

Hey there, I have just recently encountered a problem with using my zen on my computer.
My system is hot stuff so its not gonna be the problem.
Basically I plug it in and get "MTP Device Found"
then I am prompted to install MTP drivers through windows update - Problem, file from the installation was not found after it checks to find drivers for me.
Windows media doesnt recognize the device as MTP (this is WM im using) nor does Zen vision: m media explorer.
Is there a driver package I can download that will let windows know what on earth to install to recognize this MTP device? I have tried all the downloads under the vision: m downloads section, none do a thing to help. I've reinstalled, deleted old registries and copied ones across from a computer that works with it. WTH lol
Any help apreciated: This is Windows XP

MTP Drivers are actually user space drivers ( a new Microsoft idea/mistake)? If the Windows Driver Foundation service isn't running, its not going to recognize the device or load the driver. It should be set to "automatically" start up.
If its stopped there is a problem of some kind, either it has been set to not startup on boot or there was a failure of some kind at boot and you should check the event logs in eventvwr to see what kind of failure there was.
If the service was set to start at boot and did not, then there should be an error message in eventvwr that will give you an idea of why.

I want to update me Zen Vision throw Recovery Mode....Select Reload firmware, player remove old firmware. Then i open file of firmware on my PC, but update not see my pleyer : "your pleyer is not . plese connect your pleyer.... WTF? Some body help. Before .50 firmvare i update normaly!(From .40 to .5)?Sorry for my English.i.m from Russia

There are a multitude of problems that could be causing your player to exhibit this behavior in addition to battery failure, including the failure of the main logic board. If the player has been dropped a few times, exposed to excessi've heat, or high humidity/water, the problem might not be the battery. On the other hand, if the battery has been allowed to fully exhaust on a regular basis and left uncharged for long periods, it is possible that the battery could be dead, but LIon batteries usually last at least 2-3 years with regular use and normal recharging practices if they haven't been abused.

  • Zen micro radio reception & headpho

Quick question for anyone. I currently have the Zen micro & I am looking to get a new pair of headphones. The one that came with it don't really fit my ears! I had heard at one time (I thought) that the headphones that came with it have the antenna built into for the radio reception. Is this true or false? If it's true do all of Creative's headphones have the antenna built into it's If not, will any headphones due?
    Thanks for any help!!

any headphones will do...the wires of the headphones act as the antenna..

  • Zen Micro Radio Recept

I have a zen micro, and I have to say I love it. I get almost 4 hours out of the batteries. I have had no problems whatsoever. My only thing is the radio reception. I know that it generally sucks, but I made a discovery last night. With any headphones I used, the reception was bad. When I plugged a Bose headphones extender into it the receptio jumped to almost perfect. It would seem that the reception is directly related to the length of the headphone cord. Has anyone else expireinced this?
    Blade

I love in vancouver Canada, and im using the stock creative headphones and i so far have had no problem with the radio what so ever. although the sound does become fuzzy if i go into lower levels of the mall but that is just a minor thing to me.

  • COMPLAINT: NO RADIO RECORDING FOR 60GB ZEN VISION:M MO

It seems that although creative has restored radio recording for the 30gb models, the 60 gb ones are shipping with the function disabled! I strongly believe this function is still present in the hardware, since it is much cheaper and less risky for creative corporation to just eliminate it from the firmware instead of tinkering with the hardware.
After I bought my 60gb zen vision:m (November 8, 2006), I updated the firmware to the latest version for the 60GB model, and still no radio recording. so it seems that Creative has real plans to make radio recording permanently disabled, but perhaps its legal advisers have suggested that a class-action lawsuit would occur if they took away a feature off the 30gb model that came packaged with the product.
As a result I will try to return my player and find an alternati've that allows for radio recording. If I can't find another player that does it, I will still choose a non-Creative (perhaps iPod?) device, due to my frustration with this corporation.Message Edited by arbguy on -9-200604:22 PM

  • Zen Vision M 30gb Connection Prob

Hello,?After using my Zen for months without any problems, yesterday, I couldn't make my player recognized by either Windows Media Player or Zen Vision:M Media Explorer. I made a big search on the internet, found too many posts, followed the instructions and nothing happened. - My operating system is SP2 installed Windows XP.- My Zen is fully charged.- I tried all 6 USB inputs.- I also tried three different USB cables.- In Device Manager, I can see my Zen with the name "Creative Zen Vision:M" under the Portable Devices category. No problems, no question marks, no conflicts...- I made the "Permissions for Everyone" change from Registry. People recommended me to install the latest firmware but it also says "your device is not connected". Then in another forum, I noticed that some people are experiencing problems with Media Player . I tried to uninstall it but couldn't do that, too! I tried to rollback the drivers, nothing happened. I tried to delete the files and registry keys, nothing happened. I tried to install Media Player 0 on , of course nothing happened. I want my Zen back! Your suggestions will be very much appreciated. )?Thanks,Ozan.

  • Zen Vision M 30gb Prob

I have a relati'vely new Zen Vision M 30gb player, which as of today stopped working.
It will not turn on, will not charge or interface with the computer. When plugged into the computer a blue light flashes at the top of the player, and the same occurs when attempting to turn on. I have tried recovery mode to no avail and the resets do naught.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

No helping me. I just got mine about 5 weeks ago and its been working great. I charged it overnight last night to take to the gym and it didn't work. So I though that maybe the outlet I charged it on was popped or something. I verified that it worked. I plugged it in again and I have the blue light, but I just chekced and the battery meter barely had a line, and that was after 7 hours. I unplugged it and it wouldn't turn on. Any idea. I am currently charging it now and there is a blue light again. It just doesn;t seem to hold a charge

  • Zen Vision M 30Gb Battery Prob

My zen vision m 30gb player can not hold battery charge. The battery when charged fully will drain out without usage. When charged fully and in use, the charge will last for only 2 to 5 minutes instead of the 5 to 0 hours it use to last. Can any one help me with this problem please? The firmware I am using is v .62.02_0.0.23 and my operating system is windows XP professional with service patch 3. I have done clean-up and reboot, the only thing I have not done is reformatting the player.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB Player Prob

The problem is that my Zen Vision:M 30GB Player is stuck in recovery mode. I turned it on the other day with no previous problems, and now it only goes to recovery mode. The player is detected when I plug it in, but it does not leave recovery mode.
    I have tried:
    ) Cleaning Up
    2) Formatting
    3) Rebooting many times
    4) Reloading firmware
All to no avail. When I try to reload the firmware on my computer by using the MP3 Player recovery tool it says "Upgrade Failed" at the end. I even tried downloading the firmware and upgrading it manually, but it only ended in the same outcome.
    My firmware is v.62.02_0.0.23?
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Zen Vision: M Album Art prob

    Hi all...
I recently did a fresh install of Windows MCE and had to reinstall all my Creative stuff. I used the CD-Rom to reinstall (still mad about the MP3 conversion removal from the new version of mediasource). Since reinstalling everything, I cannot drag jpg's into the Zen Media Explorer to put on the Album Art.
It worked before I reinstalled. Now when I drag a picture onto the "musical note" icon, the hard dri've on the Zen Vision has activity (the docked icon spins) but the picture doesn't appear.
The album art I added before is all still there, but I can't change or replace it. Every time I drag, the hard dri've spins and everything, but the picture just doesn't show up.
I haven't installed Windows Media Player either.
    Any ideas?
    HB

I have found precisely the same problem.Re-installed windows last week, and ever since I have been unable to transfer album art. I used to do this by naming album art jpeg as "folder" and dragging album folder directly into Vision:M media explorer. I have also tried to dragging art onto the album art placeholder on "album" view - as described in creative knowledge base solution 879 - and this does not work. The only way I have found to transfer the album art is by syncing through media player . I should point out that I was using media player 0 before my re-install - but surely this cannot be the reason can it's The album art which I had transferred previously to my player is still fine. Is there any solution to this It's only a small problem, but it's really starting to bug me Thanks

  • ZEN Stone Plus With Speaker - How to enhance FM Radio Recepti

I could not receive many FM radio stations that I did with other radios.
Is there any way to enhance the reception of the built-in radio? Would replacing the earphone that comes with the mp3 player help? Thanks.

This is Creative's reply to my question:
"As regards to your enquiry, I would like to inform you that the reason
of why these 2 frequencies reception are low is because the signal
strength coming from the transmitting station are weak, especially so
for FM9.3 as it's often in mono.
One way to overcome this is to purchase a good and longer earphone as
the wire itself act as the antenna for FM reception. Allows the full
cable length run rather than twirl/coil them up.
Appended is an article on FM RADIO RECEPTION at Mediacorp website: http://www.mediacorpradio.com/ts/reception/"
I tried again in the open space instead of in my?house but still could not receive many channels. Quite disappointed as I chose?this over Ipod?because of this feature. Let me know if you can get a refund.

  • Investigating ZEN Vision: M hang prob

    Hello all..
I, along with many others have had at one time a ZEN Vision: M that would go to a blank screen after showing ZEN logo, that never recovered. Thankfully, I, along with many others have been able to procure a replacement. But my question is, what is causing this hang that kills the ZEN? How do we prevent it in the future?
I have done some minimal testing with 2 identical ZEN Vision: Ms and can verify that the HD is not the problem. I also have reason to think that it is something overwriting the firmware.
If it was a motherboard issue, the ZEN logo would not show, but it does. It does not, however, show the Vision: M logo on the next screen.
If anyone else has done any testing or has any ideas, please share them!!!
    Thanks in advance!!

I understand that Creative frowns upon consperacy theorys, but I do have a question.. One person said that the think it might be possible to infect an MP3 to damage the firmware of the ZEN Vision: M.
Now, as far as i know, this should not be possible, but i am not discounting it.
I am hoping if the admins have any ideas, I would be interested too, because I am sure they have heard enough of this same issue..
What are the chances someone could flash the EPROM via USP, and not just the firmware? That might solve problems for many people.
