Zen Vision: M Screen Doing Something We

[url="http://farm.static.flickr.com/28/392245295_3a50b8a05.jpg">Photo hosted on Flickr[/url]
As you can see in the picture the screen colors cut down the middle and the left become reddish. This started happening recently, and I think it may have to do with it being cold outside which is where I mostly use it.
Has anyone else run into this?Message Edited by gk28 on 02-6-2007:04 AM

Hi !
I just saw the picture and indeed it's VERY WEIRD ! I guess that's a hardware problem. You can still try to format your Vision: M and install the latest firmware on it. If it doesn't work, try to exchange your Vision: M to your electronic store or send it to Creative, I think that they can replace it.

  • Zen Vision M Screen Problem

As of a few days ago, my Zen Vision M has had these horiztonal white lines on the screen, and they run through everything (movies, music, wallpaper, etc.). They obviously aren't part of my wallpaper, and changing the wallpaper or reformatting the ZVM doesn't work. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this, and assuming I would have to send it in, would my extended warranty cover the problem?

Try updating the firmware, but if that doesn't help I'd recommend getting in touch with Customer Support.

    Just a FYI.
If your screen cracks due to ANYTHING whatsoever, it's $22 down the tubes.
Plus the cost of you shipping the player to them.
This happened to me, it can happen to you.
Thank you, who/whatever broke my screen (my guess is that I sat down, and the player in my left front pocket bumped into the armrest). That's the last time I put a pocket sized appliance in my pocket without special protection.
This would have been avoided if there was a hard plastic case for the thing.

I recommend using OEM battery made by Creative. • Zen Vision LCD screen

I bought a Zen Vision some time ago (not M or W, but the standard one), and unfortunately the LCD screen not being reinforced with any additional layers of glass, it cracked pretty quickly. After pretty much 2 weeks of use. Creative support insisted that it was my fault, and I did not get a refund nor a new player.
My question is: is there any way or chance that I can obtain (buy?) a new LCD screen for this particular Zen Vision, from Creative or other sources? Thanks in advance.

Search Ebay for "Zen Vision" . I came accross this one cheap.

  • Any way of turning the Zen Vision:M screen backlight off

I've just bought a Zen Vision:m, which is fantastic apart from one thing. The backlight for the main screen doesn't turn off after a few seconds, only the lights behind the buttons do. You can reduce the brightness of the screen, but that's about all.
I just wondered if there's a way to get it to turn off after a few seconds, or if there's an option that I've missed somewhere?

Once the player is playing slide the power switch to lock position and the display turns off.

  • Zen Vision: M Explorer does not recognize my mp3 player he

Seemingly, my Zen Vision: Micro is not recognized by the Zen Vision: M explorer software. My computer recognizes the hardware as present (being a verified physical connection via USB port and the mp3 player itself). I am currently running Windows XP professional with service pack 2 as instructed via technical support but to no avail. However, when running my old damaged Zen Touch, the computer and the software recognize it as being present and I have access to the dri've.
I am wondering whether or not it's a hardware issue, which I believe it to be. The issue is, that I cannot return it to Newegg (which I ordered from) because they have deactivated the product (reasons which remain unknown, which sucks because my warranty is from them so I don't know what I'm going to do about that). I would not like to bother with the hassle of having to deal with split product supports and was wondering if there were any solutions that would not involve sending back my mp3 player. I have tried messing with registry keyes, system rights, hardware profiles and such as well as reinstalling the software multiple times but to no avail. It plays fine, and looks beautiful, but I can't do anything with it currently...
If anyone has any pointers of which I have not mentioned it would be appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    TheShield

Had the same problem and got no where with creative so I wanted to exchange but there was none left in the shop so I said I would hang onto it untill they got a fresh batch. I only got this problem after a firmware update. I decided to format it and the software picked it up not a problem. And just to confirm I updated the firmware again and again I had the same problem and done a format and yet again the software picked it up so I suggest u format it and see what happens

  • Creative Zen Vision M screen looks abstract paint

Help. I am not sure what has happened but whatever happened isn't good. I took my Zen with me 4 wheeling and plugged it into my ATV to recharge. When we got back from hiking I climbed on and started my ATV and drove home. My Zen was working just fine but when I got home and looked at the screen it looked like somebody did an abstract on it in black and white. Needless to say nothing has worked to change the screen and now I cannot use it. Does anyone have any idea what I have done? Thanks

Too late. I contacted customer support today and made arrangements to return it under warranty for service. I was honest about it so we will see what they say after checking it. I was also told that I shouldn't even be using it on an ATV as it has moving parts in it and it shouldn't be jumbled around that way. I was also told I shouldn't use it when jogging for the same reason. I didn't realize these MP3 hard dri've players were so sensiti've. My ipod never had any problems and I used it on my ATV for 5 years.

  • Zen Vision M screen keeps freezi

It has been only a few months since I bought this MP3 player. I do not know whether it's a problem only for mine or it happens to many MP3 players. I used to have Ipod Mini and never had a problem like this. When the screen freezes, I have to press the little reset button and I have realized that I see shadows of some words. I don't think it's common. Just now my screen is freezed again and I had to use a paperclip to reset it. It happens once in awhile, I can understand that. It has happened to me at least 5 times. This past week happened twice already. Can it be defective? Or it's just the way many Vision M is? My warranty is still valid since it's been only a few months. Should I return it to Creative?

freezing prob could be due to firmware issueis your firmware the latest?

  • Creative Zen Vision:M - Screen cracked - unviewab

Hello, my players screen has cracked, the rest of the player is perfectly fine and I can still listen to music, just the screen is completely broken, I want to know if you can send it in for repairs, and roughly how much it will cost?
*note to self, be more careful with small LCD screens.
    Thanks

    You're SOL dude...
I've had a cracked screen for a month now and have tried everything...
    -tried to return it-too late
-tried to buy a replacement screen-can't find them anywhere and they're made in singapore
-tried to use an ipod video screen-doesn't fit
-So you gotta send it back to creative-cost: ~$20.00 and no player for a few weeks
Good luck, you're taking it better than I did

  • Zen Vision:M screen brok

Okay. Recently--I don't know how it happened--the LCD in my ZVM got absolutely busted. It's badly cracked, and basically beyond hope. (The audio still works fine, small comfort that that is.) So, my question is basically--is there any way I could get the screen repaired or replaced? (My warranty's long expired, so I know I'd have to pay for it...) Or would it just be easier and less of a hassle (and not much more expensi've) to just get a new one?

I'm sure you could send it to Creative to have it fixed, but you would have to pay for it, but it would be a lot less than buying a new one.

  • Exporting song lists to Excel, etc. with Zen Vision:M 3

    Hello-
Is there any way to export my songs from the Zen to Excel (or any other similar program)? I have researched previous requests, and all pointed to the previous version of Creative Media Explorer, along with a 3rd party program called Notmad. Unfortunately, Notmad will not work, as it does not support the Zen Vision (though it does support the non-vision Zen series). Please note I did download it and attempted to use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Steve C

Never mind, I found a very easy method:
    1. Download Media Monkey, FREE at www.mediamonkey.com
    2. Media Monkey will find the Zen. Select the Zen so the songs appear.
    3. Go to File:Reports, and choose export as Excel.
    4. Choose the location, and there you go!!!

  • Zen Vision M FM Record

Hi there, I just bought a Zen Vision M 60GB here in Canada, and I updated the player to firmware version .20.02. I heard the FM recording was removed earlier, but then added again... My MP3 player however, does not have that feature. Whats wrong?

The Zen Vision:M 60GB does not have an FM recording feature.
The recording feature was added back to a player that had it originally, the Zen Vision:M 30GB.

  • Does Zen Vision break do

I am really intrested in buying either a iPod Video 30gb or a Zen Vision 30gb, and right now Zen seems to be the one I'll buy. One thing worries me though. I have a friend that bought this Mp3 player and it broke down for her like in one week. Then she got a completly new one, and the same thing with that one. Then she got sick and tired of it and bought an iPod Video wich has worked without a problem. Also I read on these forums that others have simmular problems with their machines. I just don't want to buy a Mp3 that breaks down one week after I buy it. What should I do? Are my suspections right or is this just something that happens to a few? Thanks =)MaVeN

As far as blackop says, its true. Every MP3 player "breaks down", there is just the rate of problems. In this case, i would say buy a Zen because Ipod has MANY MANY problems, but also of course MANY MANY PEOPLE who never experienced them. On the other hand, Zen has problems too, My Zen froze once, makes a extremely scary sound once or another, and today I figured out that my Zen shuts itself off! So obviously my Zen has a few bugs to work out, so there is a chance that yours will be the same. NO MP3 doesnt break down. Amongest the ZEN problems is freezing. The ipod, however, has problems with screens, pads, controlls, settings, earphones, and even accesories. However, one can also argue that a lot more people has an Ipod, so its inevitable that Ipod has more problems. What I suggest you is buy a Zen, but be mentally prepared for potential break-downs.

  • Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player does not resp

My Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player stopped working. It does not turn on, does not charge, does not respond to anything. Is the battery dead or what would be the problem. Please help.

There are a multitude of problems that could be causing your player to exhibit this behavior in addition to battery failure, including the failure of the main logic board. If the player has been dropped a few times, exposed to excessi've heat, or high humidity/water, the problem might not be the battery. On the other hand, if the battery has been allowed to fully exhaust on a regular basis and left uncharged for long periods, it is possible that the battery could be dead, but LIon batteries usually last at least 2-3 years with regular use and normal recharging practices if they haven't been abused.
