Zen Vision M video convertion problem: image upside d

Tried to copy .avi videos to my ZVM, but after the required convertion?(via Creative converter to .wmv format) the video appeared upside down. Tried several times with different files -- same result. Any idea?

I'm not sure what exactly is the problem with the video, but whenever I upload it, it will only play up 00:08 of 24:0. For some reason, it fails to recognize the other parts of the video, and only shows the video length as 8 seconds. The video works fine when played in Windows Media.
The size of the video is 70 MB, and the data rate is 966 kbs.
I would say maybe the data rate is the problem . I use this program to encode my videos & it has a preset for the Zen that also works well on the Zen VM. http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=527380BTW just because a video plays on the computer does not mean it will play on your device.

go to a speical place in the mp3 and click sumthin like connect to tv or what?
please if sum knws please help me!! im waitin for a reply.....:smileyindifferent:

The creative cable is not standard. You cannot use standard 3.5mm to 3xRCA AV cables. There are instructions on this forum on how to convert a standard AV cable to one that is compatible with the player.
More information on how the cable is wired is avaliable . Not my image, someone else on the forum created it, found it in this post.
There is an article on .
These are the instructions I followed to make my own cable from a standard AV cable. I can't remember who wrote it (Sorry who ever it is), so I don't pretend to take any of the credit for writing it:
Ok here is step by step (i don't have @ home atm digi photo, so i can't do shots)...
Things u'll need:
* AV cable ( 4pole mini jack -to-> 3 RCA yello', red, white)
* knife/scalpel/isolation removal tool...lighter can be a easiest way to remove isolation (when applied gently)
* isolation tape
terms:
GROUND (shield, minus, negati've) = outer wire in the cables, stronger one
HOT (plus, chnl,etc..) = inner smaler wire, caryin' signal
RCA (phonos, cynch,etc..) = those plugs u can find on most of the audio video equipment
MINI JACK (walkman jack, small banana) = can be mono, stereo or audio/video (4 poles)
It's your choice on what part of cable u want to do rewiring (close to the mini jack or close to the RCA's)
I'll describe here easier way (close to the mini jack):
- cutoff the cable close to the mini jack (leave jack with about 8-0cm of cable)
2 - remove isolation on all three cables from both sides (RCA's n mini jack)
- u should remove isolations (2-3cm) of shield/ground (outer wire) and from hot (inner wire)
- on the mini jack side: leave the RED one cable longer than yellow n white
3 - on the mini jack side: remove ground (outer wire) on YELLOW and WHITE cables and isolate
4 - on the mini jack side: remove isolation on the RED hot (inner wire) a bit longer, this is your new ground for all three RCA's, be careful that ground n hot on RED doesn't contatc so isolate em
5 - on the RCA's side: put/twist all three grounds into one wire
6 - wire RED from the jack side to the GROUND of RCA's side (look @ step 5)...isolate
7 - on the mini jack side wire RED cable's GROUND to the YELLOW's cable HOT on the RCA side, isolate
8 - on the mini jack side wire YELLOW cable's HOT to the RED HOT on the RCA side, isolate
9 - on the mini jack side wire WHITE cable's HOT to the WHITE HOT on the RCA side, isolate
0-isolate everythin' properly
enjoy ;-)

The battery will only last about 3yrs regardless of use.You will need to change it. Did you scroll down to see the album, picture, track counts? Did you partition part of the dri've for removable storage. You can find instructions to open here ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Drkr...e=channel_page & ? the battery here(very easy to do) http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Creative-ZEN-Vision-M-30gb-Battery-LPCS285385_W0QQitemZ400028645679QQcmdZViewItemQQpt ZOther_MP3_Player_Accessories?hash=item40002864567 9&_trksid=p39.c0.m4&_trkparms=72%3A205|66%3A4|65%3 A2|39%3A|240%3A38|30%3A0|293%3A|294%3A200

• Zen Vision M Video Out to TV problem (with proprietary cable!)

I am the original owner of a 60 GB Zen Vision M that works perfectly. I have purchased the proprietary A/V cable for the unit when I purchased it but never had occasion to use it. I now have a flat panel display on which I should like to display video files. The information screen says it has version .2.02 (I assume that?s firmware.)
Customer support for the product is no longer available. I have set the video out to ?auto NTSC? I have wonderful sound but nothing shows on the screen from the yellow RCA video plug that comes out of the same white cable from Creative. UI have connected it to several different sets, two of which are older tube sets. No luck.
Any help here?
Thanks.

Anyone tried holding down power and pressing the reset at the same time. Then after hit clean up from the recovery menu. I was told to do that but i havent tried test it out on tv output yet.
Warning: it clears all the settings in your zen player. (Custom eq, menus, all zen settings)

• Creative zen vision:M video download probl

I have a new creative zen vision:m devise and I'm having real trouble downloading videos purchased from 7digital.co.uk and itunes. I'm able to convert videos that I either took with a digital camera or downloaded for free easily but wmv files will not convert. I get the error message that either the file is protected, not supported or missing codec directshow(r) despite the fact that the website and Creative user guide suggest that both wmv and mpeg4 files are compatible. Please help! I'm running windows XP

SOLUTION:
After lots of searching through the web, I have found this solution to our problems regarding transferring purchased video from 7Digital. This doesn't solve the mystery of the missing directshow codec (I haven't got a clue why VideoConverter thinks it is missing as I have just about every directshow/directX pack installed). This process involves making a copy of a copy of the video, but it looks fine to me:
) download and install the excellent freeware application ZD Soft Screen Recorder, available at http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...-recording.htm This is a brilliant resource which will allow you to record video from your computer screen and record the corresponding sound in the same file. It is totally legal as it merely copies an output and does not break any DRM.
2) Launch ZDsoft and queue up the purchased video in Windows Media Player. Play the video to see the area of the screen it occupies and check 'record specified area' in ZDsoft. Then click 'select an area' and use this tool to draw a border round the area of the screen occupied by the video. Make sure no toolbars or cursors appear inside this border, otherwise they will be recorded too.
3) In ZDsoft select 'AVI' as the output file, and choose the quality. DON'T choose WMV otherwise you will get the directshow error message again.
4) Make sure 'record sound' is checked and click the 'settings' tab next to it. Choose one of the 'stereo mixer' options. Select 'start' to begin recording. The window can minimise if you wish.
5) When the video comes to an end, right click the minimised window and click 'stop'. ZDsoft will then show you where it has saved the file and will ask you if you want to view it. If you select 'yes', make sure you have a media player set up to play .avi files. (Using an up-to-date real player as your default player for .avi files will result in the video then playing back in real player).
6) Launch Creative VideoConverter. Add the .avi file you have just made to the conversion list and connect your Vision M. Select 'next'. The output seems to be restricted to WMV at 320 x 240 resolution and I don't know how to change this, but this is perfectly acceptable. Select 'crop to screen size' and 'transer to player' (or you can transfer later using MediaExplorer). And voila, you have your video on your Zen Vision M!

• Zen Vision M: Video Transfer Proble

I recently purchased a Creative Zen Vision M and was able to transfer content with no trouble. When I transfered the first few videos, it did so with no problems and I was able to watch them with ease. Now, when I try to transfer a video to my player, I always get the same message: "Cannot copy 'xxxxxx.avi': the video file is not valid or not recognized. Do you want to skip this file?" When I try to convert the file, the conversion manager says the file does not need conversion. When every video I tried rendered this same message, I tried to transfer one of the files I had originally placed (and viewed) on the player and I got the same error. I am curious as to what the problem could be.
Thanks in advance.

What codec is the avi ?
Try something like Virtual Dub and re-encode the avi using the Divx codec (v4 0r v5 only) - then reimport and it should work.

I have a similar issue. I want to put video clips from a dvd on to my creative zen vision m but it is trickier that I had expected. I have found a free ripper at imtoo.com which is very simple to use but I can't seem to get the bit rate low enough. Anyone got any suggestions?

• Zen Vision:M 30GB recognition problems...Big t

Hi, 2 days ago i ran into a problem with my Zen. I had to charge it, as the battery was low and had to put some new music on it.. I plugged it into the USB port on my Laptop, where all of it's software is installed. The Zen wasn't recognized. Instead of the charging screen it normally started up with, it started up with the play screen(the screen it shows when a song is playing). I looked at the battery icon in the top right corner, and it wasn't doing anything. I turned the Zen off and started it up again. Nothing changed. I restarted my computer. Nothing changed. I shut down my computer and started it back up again. Nothing changed.
I took it to my desktop computer, a Compaq, and tried it there. It worked, but not how i was expecting it to work. The battery icon started flashing with the little lightning bolt, acknowledging that it was charging. But the play screen was still there. The odd thing with this is, i left the player to charge for several hours. When i came back, the Zen was in some form of idle shut-down. The screen was black, except for the battery icon with the lightning bolt. Oddly enough, he battery bar hadn't filled up anymore than when i left it. Upon unplugging the player though, the Zen turned off. When i turned it back on, the bar had filled up more. It wasn't fully charged though.
I plugged the cable back into it, and this time, the battery icon WASN'T charging. It just had the play screen on. It wasn't doing ANYTHING this time. Frustrated, i went out and bought the wall charger, and now i have a full battery. But it doesn't solve why my computer won't recognize my player.
Today, i un-installed the software that came with the player and re-installed it. It didn't do anything. I installed the software on my desktop computer, and THAT didn't work either. So i came to the website here and used the trouble-shoot guide. That didn't help, and this is where my problem differs from the other posters here who have recognition problems:
Back to my laptop: I have Windows Service Pack 2. I installed Windows Media Player . I went to the Device Manger, like the trouble-shoot guide said to. The kicker: Windows Portable Devices is NOT, i repeat NOT in my Device Manager. Neither does the Creative player either. I clicked on "The player does not appear in Device manager". That link showed me a diagram of a desktop computer, so went back to my desktop computer. I did everything above mentioned, and Windows Portable Devices is not in the device manager of my desktop computer either. Further reading the trouble-shoot guide, i could NOT locate "Other Devices" or "Unknown Devices" in my Device Manger on either desktop or laptop. There's nothing "Creative" related or "Zen" related at all in any of the Device programs.
I don't know what to do. All of the trouble-shoot guides don't discuss my issue at all. Everything is "If an MP3 player is reported working properly in Device Manager, but it is not detected or listed in Windows Media Player or Creative Media Explorer..."
Mine isn't even detected in Device Manager. My Device Manager has nothing regarding my Zen or Windows Portable Devices.
I'm thinking about messing with it in Recovery mode, but i don't want to erase everything i have on here, just to have my player still not work. I'm going to try messing with this at my friend's house to check the cable and the player there too.
But any help regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

I tried my uncle's Zen Vision: M 30GB on my laptop and strange things happened. My laptop recognized the player as an unknown device and said i needed to install the MTP driver. I did that, and upon doing so, my laptop recognized my Uncle's player as a Portable device, allowing me to transfer songs to his player. But it STILL doesn't recognize MY player. Email support says i have to send it in for repairs, but i don't know...
Any luck with you?

• Zen Vision:M, Mediasource transfer problem and Digital Camera

It used to work. Norton 360 has made a mess of lots of things...
I can no longer transfer via Mediasource to my Zen Vision:M 60gb. I can view, play and rename files from Mediasource and I can transfer to the Vision:M via windows explorer (of course you don't get the benefits of gracenote or other tag modification programs). I have also noticed that on my XP "My Computer" the device shows up as both MY Zen (digital player) and and as Zen? DVP-HD004 as a Digital Camera. Is the digital camera piece related to the problem and/or normal?

The 60GB has a USB host feature for transfering pictures directly to the player that the 30GB does not have.Since the motherboard is not the same that makes sense.Have you tried turning off your Anti-Virus when you need to transfer files?

• Zen Vision M, Video Cab

Hello, when you connect the ZVM to the tv is the quaility good? If i tarnsfer a file that is DVD quality, will it show the same on the TV?
Also, is there a third party cable i can use? Instead of the creative ? Cansomeone recommedn me thanks!

Un-install the software<
Re-start your PC<
Install software again<
Re-start your PC again (ONLY if prompted after installation!)<
I used to get some weird errors using Creative's Video Converter so I switched to "Total Video Converter". I wouldn't say that its the best but it does the job. Some other programs I tried were said to have been better than "Total Video Converter" however when I used them, the picture always appeared to be upside down after convertion.
Good Luck!

• Creative video converter problem

when i first got my creative zen (just the creative zen) i could easy use yt downloader and put the videos on my player not when i use the creative video converter it would keep saying its unscessful at 36%. i tried a video at .9mb and it work but when i tried a 9.2mb it would not work.

$video files all come from youtube using the youtube downloader. when they are downloaded they are flv files. i change them to wmv files and the converter says not a valid source so i use the youtube downloader converter that converts it into another wmv file (V.7 WMV) and the file has a pic from the video. so i put it through the creative converter it would work or don't a spot between .9 and 9.2

• Zen Vision:m 60gb "Hardware Problem" Error Mess

My Zen Vision:m has been rebuilding after every startup so I decided to use the recovery tool to fix the problem. In the middle of updating the firmware, the process froze, my player rebooted and now it displays an error message that just says "hardware problem". I can't turn off the player, and it just returns to the error message when I reset, not allowing for me to reboot in recovery mode. Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

• Creative Zen Vision M:30Gb freeze problem skipping between tracks

Hi guys,
I bought my Zen Vision M:30GB 2 years ago. It was a regenerated model by Creative.
I'm fully satisfied of this product, i think the best of his category, but It has this problem since two years...Sometimes when i skip between mp3s (especially in random mode) it freezes and remains on the screen of current mp3, blocked...even I try to touch all buttons it doesn't unblock and i have to reset with a clip in the reset hole.
I've noticed that this problem comes especially when i use random mode of entire library (about 4000 songs) or however with a long playlist...it doesn't happen when i listen a single album (about 20 mp3s in playlist)
Sincerely i'm a little bored ...
I tried to do some clean and format up by the system menu, but the problem persists...
I've also thinked the problem could be because there are in library mp3 with variant bitrate...or a physical problem (I hope not)
What do you think of?
Thanks for help!
