Zen Vision M Video Out to TV problem (with proprietary cable!)

I am the original owner of a 60 GB Zen Vision M that works perfectly. I have purchased the proprietary A/V cable for the unit when I purchased it but never had occasion to use it. I now have a flat panel display on which I should like to display video files. The information screen says it has version .2.02 (I assume that?s firmware.)
Customer support for the product is no longer available. I have set the video out to ?auto NTSC? I have wonderful sound but nothing shows on the screen from the yellow RCA video plug that comes out of the same white cable from Creative. UI have connected it to several different sets, two of which are older tube sets. No luck.
Any help here?
Thanks.

Anyone tried holding down power and pressing the reset at the same time. Then after hit clean up from the recovery menu. I was told to do that but i havent tried test it out on tv output yet.
Warning: it clears all the settings in your zen player. (Custom eq, menus, all zen settings)

• Creative zen vision m: video cable help!!! PLZZ

:smileyindifferent:hi, i reallly need to know how to connect the cable to the tv and the vision m.
i have tried it on many channels but i dont knw they dont work. do u have to
go to a speical place in the mp3 and click sumthin like connect to tv or what?
please if sum knws please help me!! im waitin for a reply.....:smileyindifferent:

The creative cable is not standard. You cannot use standard 3.5mm to 3xRCA AV cables. There are instructions on this forum on how to convert a standard AV cable to one that is compatible with the player.
More information on how the cable is wired is avaliable . Not my image, someone else on the forum created it, found it in this post.
There is an article on .
These are the instructions I followed to make my own cable from a standard AV cable. I can't remember who wrote it (Sorry who ever it is), so I don't pretend to take any of the credit for writing it:
Ok here is step by step (i don't have @ home atm digi photo, so i can't do shots)...
Things u'll need:
* AV cable ( 4pole mini jack -to-> 3 RCA yello', red, white)
* knife/scalpel/isolation removal tool...lighter can be a easiest way to remove isolation (when applied gently)
* isolation tape
terms:
GROUND (shield, minus, negati've) = outer wire in the cables, stronger one
HOT (plus, chnl,etc..) = inner smaler wire, caryin' signal
RCA (phonos, cynch,etc..) = those plugs u can find on most of the audio video equipment
MINI JACK (walkman jack, small banana) = can be mono, stereo or audio/video (4 poles)
It's your choice on what part of cable u want to do rewiring (close to the mini jack or close to the RCA's)
I'll describe here easier way (close to the mini jack):
- cutoff the cable close to the mini jack (leave jack with about 8-0cm of cable)
2 - remove isolation on all three cables from both sides (RCA's n mini jack)
- u should remove isolations (2-3cm) of shield/ground (outer wire) and from hot (inner wire)
- on the mini jack side: leave the RED one cable longer than yellow n white
3 - on the mini jack side: remove ground (outer wire) on YELLOW and WHITE cables and isolate
4 - on the mini jack side: remove isolation on the RED hot (inner wire) a bit longer, this is your new ground for all three RCA's, be careful that ground n hot on RED doesn't contatc so isolate em
5 - on the RCA's side: put/twist all three grounds into one wire
6 - wire RED from the jack side to the GROUND of RCA's side (look @ step 5)...isolate
7 - on the mini jack side wire RED cable's GROUND to the YELLOW's cable HOT on the RCA side, isolate
8 - on the mini jack side wire YELLOW cable's HOT to the RED HOT on the RCA side, isolate
9 - on the mini jack side wire WHITE cable's HOT to the WHITE HOT on the RCA side, isolate
0-isolate everythin' properly
enjoy ;-)

• Zen Vision: M - Video Problem

I'm not sure what exactly is the problem with the video, but whenever I upload it, it will only play up 00:08 of 24:0. For some reason, it fails to recognize the other parts of the video, and only shows the video length as 8 seconds. The video works fine when played in Windows Media.
The size of the video is 70 MB, and the data rate is 966 kbs.

I would say maybe the data rate is the problem . I use this program to encode my videos & it has a preset for the Zen that also works well on the Zen VM. http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=527380BTW just because a video plays on the computer does not mean it will play on your device.

• Creative zen vision:M video download probl

I have a new creative zen vision:m devise and I'm having real trouble downloading videos purchased from 7digital.co.uk and itunes. I'm able to convert videos that I either took with a digital camera or downloaded for free easily but wmv files will not convert. I get the error message that either the file is protected, not supported or missing codec directshow(r) despite the fact that the website and Creative user guide suggest that both wmv and mpeg4 files are compatible. Please help! I'm running windows XP

SOLUTION:
After lots of searching through the web, I have found this solution to our problems regarding transferring purchased video from 7Digital. This doesn't solve the mystery of the missing directshow codec (I haven't got a clue why VideoConverter thinks it is missing as I have just about every directshow/directX pack installed). This process involves making a copy of a copy of the video, but it looks fine to me:
) download and install the excellent freeware application ZD Soft Screen Recorder, available at http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...-recording.htm This is a brilliant resource which will allow you to record video from your computer screen and record the corresponding sound in the same file. It is totally legal as it merely copies an output and does not break any DRM.
2) Launch ZDsoft and queue up the purchased video in Windows Media Player. Play the video to see the area of the screen it occupies and check 'record specified area' in ZDsoft. Then click 'select an area' and use this tool to draw a border round the area of the screen occupied by the video. Make sure no toolbars or cursors appear inside this border, otherwise they will be recorded too.
3) In ZDsoft select 'AVI' as the output file, and choose the quality. DON'T choose WMV otherwise you will get the directshow error message again.
4) Make sure 'record sound' is checked and click the 'settings' tab next to it. Choose one of the 'stereo mixer' options. Select 'start' to begin recording. The window can minimise if you wish.
5) When the video comes to an end, right click the minimised window and click 'stop'. ZDsoft will then show you where it has saved the file and will ask you if you want to view it. If you select 'yes', make sure you have a media player set up to play .avi files. (Using an up-to-date real player as your default player for .avi files will result in the video then playing back in real player).
6) Launch Creative VideoConverter. Add the .avi file you have just made to the conversion list and connect your Vision M. Select 'next'. The output seems to be restricted to WMV at 320 x 240 resolution and I don't know how to change this, but this is perfectly acceptable. Select 'crop to screen size' and 'transer to player' (or you can transfer later using MediaExplorer). And voila, you have your video on your Zen Vision M!

• Zen Vision M: Video Transfer Proble

I recently purchased a Creative Zen Vision M and was able to transfer content with no trouble. When I transfered the first few videos, it did so with no problems and I was able to watch them with ease. Now, when I try to transfer a video to my player, I always get the same message: "Cannot copy 'xxxxxx.avi': the video file is not valid or not recognized. Do you want to skip this file?" When I try to convert the file, the conversion manager says the file does not need conversion. When every video I tried rendered this same message, I tried to transfer one of the files I had originally placed (and viewed) on the player and I got the same error. I am curious as to what the problem could be.
Thanks in advance.

What codec is the avi ?
Try something like Virtual Dub and re-encode the avi using the Divx codec (v4 0r v5 only) - then reimport and it should work.

I have a similar issue. I want to put video clips from a dvd on to my creative zen vision m but it is trickier that I had expected. I have found a free ripper at imtoo.com which is very simple to use but I can't seem to get the bit rate low enough. Anyone got any suggestions?

• Building the ZEN Vision:M video ca

I've finally decided to build my own video cable because creative has no stock. The iPod cable or standard video cable sold in electronic shops don't work (thanks creative: rare pinout for complicate our lifes and no stock, no sho
ps.
..). I understand that Creative makes different cables to force people to buy the original but... stock is necessary dudes!
Discovering how the pinout is assigned is easy to people with some electronic skills. The "mini-jack" connector side has four connections, not three (of course) but you should be a good solderer as this mini-connector is a bit difficult to solder. The others a are RCAs. No problem with them.
If anybody wants the pinout, reply and I will explain how to build it. Components and cables cost about 6? in an electronic shop, including a SCART adaptor.

• Zen Vision:m 30gb doesn't work properly with Windows 7 64bit

I recently upgraded my pc from an old xp machine to a new one running windows 7 ultimate. Creative says their media player software that originally shipped with the zen does not support windows 7, so i should use windows media player (the version that ships with windows 7; i cannot find a help dialog box with the version number). Creative also says that the zen vision:m uses only microsoft MTP drivers, so I don't need to upgrade any drivers and it should be compatible. However, although the zen vision:m connects fine and I can see the mp3 files on the zen HDD, I cannot play them in the main windows media player screen. I can only double click on files and play them in the small windows media player window without any controls. Of course, I can't import any of the zen mp3 files into the music library in windows media player or set up any playlists. I checked every menu item and dialog box that i can think of on my zen and in windows 7, but nothing appears to be relevant to this problem. Any ideas, other than buying a brand new mp3 player? TIA

When you connect it & open it WMP click on the SYNC tab of the program. Choose the files you want to sync to the computer then hit SYNC . The files should transfer to the computer. (check your settings as to where you want the files to go.)

• Video card or driver problems with an N200, please help!

I have a lenovo 3000 N200, it is really cool, runs even games quite well, including newer ones.
But, is it normal to for the display driver program to freeze out in Warcraft 3? It always does that, when accessing the list of maps in the game and after 3-5 mins during an actual game. It sets the resolution down to 640X480 (from 1280X800) and in 16 color. I have to reset it in order to make it work. Also it does the same in Spore - though after having the driver written for Spore installed, ( which I downloaded from lenovo's site ) I haven't encountered that problem so far. Also Second Life shuts down - thankfully it does not freeze the drivers. I understand that the model I have is not meant for gaming but if it can run Warhammer 40k: Soulstorm at meduim graphic settings (on widescreen) without a lagg I can't understand why it wouldn't be able to handle warcraft 3 - that even an ATi m200 express can handle. I mean an X3100 from Intel must be far more powerful. (Said ATi card laggs with older games like Unreal Tournament)
I have the latest driver - official - and a Win Xp pro Sp2. I always keep my system up to date - save for opsys but so far driver did not need sp3 - and virus clean.
Please help me?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Well, Unreal Tournament 2004 runs flawlessly on max graphics - though simple Unreal Tournament laggs like hell with all possible settings - also, as I said Dawn Of War and it's expansions run well on med graphics. The Suffering Ties That Bind runs also good on highest settings - though there is a bit of degradation compared to my tabletop pc's performance. Disciples 2 ran - of course - well, there were some texture problems with it but Heroes 5 ran quite well even on higher settings (as I mentioned it sometimes blunted down the textures but not always and it ran without a lagg). Alien Versus Predator 2 ran on max graphics, and there was no trouble, save for the aliens' special vision (that white thing that looks as if inverted colors) didn't work - aka was only a black screen - and that the crosshair of the smartgun was only a blank red/green block on the middle of the screen.Oh, and Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour works on highest settings without a lagg, along with Quake 3, and Jedi knight : Academy. It even runs Perfect World on high settings and only laggs in bigger towns - but that also might be because of the tremendous bandwidth usage that occurs. Even Red Alert 3 was able to run, but I would only advise that for RA fanatics, on low settings it was playable. Also, C & C: Tiberium Wars runs better than RA 3 , if you like that it is quite playable and worth a try. As you can see I have put it to it's limits to see what it can endure. Unreal Tournament 3 ran, though was gruesomely degraded and then it gave me the blue screen of death; so I quickly uninstalled that. Other than the forementioned program I had no real problems with the card, but the existing problems are a pain in the ... well we all know how bothering it can be when one is unable to play his/her favourite game (that should really run flawlessly).
Doesn't vista eat up too much of the system resources? A friend of mine was complaining about his n200 that vista is too slow on it and it eats up too much processor/memory.
Also, still no new on videocard front... Asked around if anyone knows, but I am guessing that maybe even Blizzard - referring to my Warcraft problem - shows more compassion to their forums and users than Lenovo, so I'll ask around there too.

• Out Of Memory Problem With Creator 2

Dear Community,
I'm having a strange problem with JSC2. I have a not so big project (15 pages, more or less). I added a new page, and it raised a NullPointerException. Then the IDE stopped showing the outline window when selecting the Design View, and started to show Out of Memory Errors (java heap).
At this time the IDE refuses to start. It gets stuck in the splash screen window, when appears the "opening main window" message. Then "java.exe" process starts to eat RAM up to the limit set in -Xmx startup switch. No matter how high I set this value, it will be taken, always showing the "Out of Memory (java heap)" error dialog. I have 1 Gb of RAM.
It seems like a memory leak, but I suspect about corruption of either userdir or the project.
Any hint will be welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Antonio.

Got this before , it could be something to do with a dead Data Source.
How i fixed the problem was to delete the following folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.Creator\2_0
Make sure you delete the .Creator folder not Creator
Before you delete this folder make a backup of content.xml
and jdbc-drivers folder so you dont ahve to and paste the back in once creator and recreate the folder
So basically delete the folder , start creator and leave rebuild close and paste the files back into folder.
Obviusly this is a drastic measure and your defaults will be set back to factory. But by keeping the backed up files as above you will not need to set up your datasources again. Perform at your own risk. Worked for me may not for you

• Problem with underground cable - engineer visit re...

I reported a fault on my line last week, and an Openreach engineer turned up on Friday and confirmed that the fault was in an undergound cable on public land, and not within the boundary of my property. There are two nearby BT access covers in the public footpath outside - apparently the line is ok from the house to the nearest box, and the fault is between that box and the next one.
According to the Openreach engineer, the next step would be for them to come out and trace the exact location of the fault (which wouldn't require access to my property), then the footpath would be dug up so that the cable could be renewed or repaired.
It appears that BT Retail has a different viewpoint to that of Openreach, as the fault summary on bt.com now says that an engineer visit is required. However, until the cable is repaired I haven't a clue what this is supposed to achieve that the first one didn't.
Is this a case of Openreach and BT Retail struggling to communicate properly with each other, or is there actually some point to having another engineer visit that I may have missed? Before I arrange to take yet time off work to wait for an engineer, I'd like to make sure that it's really necessary.

The plot thickens...
Wife phoned to try to find out more, and during a rather frustrating phone call she was informed that the fault outside was fixed on Sunday morning, and they now want an engineer to come and check that it works up to the house. Plus the usual threat of a £129 charge. So we have an engineer booked to visit on Friday morning.
I do have a number of problems with the statements made by the individual that my wife spoke to:
1. An Openreach engineer has already checked that the line is ok from the master socket to the BT "hole in the ground" located 12 metres away, on public land and not within the property boundary. He estimated that the fault in the cable was 15 metres away, between the nearest access point and the next one (which is about 16 metres away).
2. I'd have thought that we'd have noticed someone digging up the tarmac on a Sunday morning, in view of the front window, but we didn't. Neither did we notice them filling in the hole afterwards. Perhaps Openreach employ silent (and invisible) contractors to dig up the roads at weekends.
3. More importantly, the line is a dead as ever, and dialling it from a different line or a mobile always gets an engaged tone - this hasn't changed since the fault was reported to BT.
I'd certainly not be very happy with a £129 charge, particularly as if the problem is within our boundary the engineer that came last week should have found it. Hopefully Friday won't be a total waste of time, for me or for the Openreach engineer, but not holding out much hope at the moment as nothing seems to have changed since the first visit.
On the plus side, it's been quieter in the evenings as the telespammers haven't been able to get through for the past week or so!
