Zen w 4 backlight on but no disp

Well, Christmas 07 is on track to be same as previous ten, kids get gifts dad gets migraine.First player set up fine, second seems to be fine, connection and transfer of files but I cant get the **please watch the language** display to display anything other than blinding white light. Try resetting it by poking a paperclip into the hole.

ZEN 8GB connects to PC, but browsing it and transferring music doesn't w

I have a weird problem that started when my laptop began messing up some time ago. When I connect my ZEN 8GB, everything seems normal; computer recognises it and the "AutoPlay" box appears. However, when I press "Organize media files in this device", the ZEN media explorer turn up but the "Convert videos" is greyed out and when pressing "Browse media", the window where contents are supposed to be, is empty. And yes, there is lots of (working) stuff on my ZEN. It doesn't even work syncing with WMP or Winamp. I have tried to uninstall drivers, Creative software and reinstalling everything, but nothing changes. I even formatted my PC and reinstalled Windows Vista, re-installing Creatives software before anything else, and still nothing works. The only thing that works is connecting to the PC using "Removable Disk"-mode in the Memory Card menu and adding files to the memory card. Anyone know what's up with this?

Nevermind, problem resolved by running Clean Up during Recovery Mode. Apparently some files were conflicting with the usability.

Zen Vision:M Backlight on while playing mp

Hi,?Have a Zen Vision:M, 30gig with firmware v..50.02. In display settings I have the 'backlight time' set to 5 seconds however when I'm playing mp3s the backlight always stays on. After the 5 seconds it just dims to a very slow setting. Is this normal?Many thanks!

Hi Guys,?The player is supposed to kill the screen,? not just dim it as this will kill the battery life!!? Apparently the older .3 firmware did this ,? but the newer versions only DIM the screen.............. Not good. Creative needs to address this bug!!!

Zen 8Gb - Faulty Backlight

I've had this problem for a year or so now where the backlight wil not light up to full but instead stays at idle brightness. I have voided the warranty on my Zen. I'm just curious to see if any has heard of this, almost 00% its not software related seeing as how I have completely wiped the firmware and replaced it. I've pulled it a apart before and found a little rust inside ( I li've in Florida so humidity is a way of life) and maybe that fried something? I'm not looking for a fix really, battery life is amazing seeing as how it doesn't light up all the way any more and it doesn't really bother me, I'm just curious as to whats anyone thinks is going on.

I have a Zen 32gb, same issue. The display is always dimmed, changing the brightness in the Display Settings and/or the Backlight Time has no effect. Running .2.0e, but reading several threads on backlight issues haven't seen firmware upgrade helping. Anyone have a solution?

Zen VPlus recognized by Vista, but not by windows media pla

my zen VPlus is recognized by vista (in device manager it is in "Portable Devices") , I can also find it in Windows Explorer.
However, it doesn't show up in windows media player in the sync section; if I deconnect the zen and I reconnect it back, I can see the message "detected my zen" on the lower side of wmpl but I still get the picture "connect to a device" above.
Any idea ? The last firmware has been installed and I can directly copy files with Windows Explorer.

You need to install iTunes in order to install the necessary drivers.

Got my Zen Vision M: to work but

Hey everyone,
I got the Zen Vision:M 30gb last Friday and after some trial-and-error I finally got the mp3 player to work. I have some questions and I'm hoping you guys can answer them.
When I first plugged in my mp3 player to my PC it wouldn't turn on (I didn't realize I had to wait a while to let it charge for a bit). Out of confusion, I hit the "reset" button a few times (which by the way didn't do anything, haha). Will this affect the performance of my Zen over time at all?
I also plugged and unplugged my Zen player several times because I was wondering why my computer wouldn't detect it. At one point, the device's screen finally turned on, but I still couldn't get my PC to detect it... so I once again unplugged and (re)plugged the cable. My main concern here is whether doing this will have any short or long-term detrimental effect on my battery? I hear this shouldn't be a problem on lithium(?) batteries, but I thought I'd just make sure here! Also, any tips you guys recommend on how to make best use out of my battery?
Finally, here's a noob question: can I copy/paste my songs to my mp3 player directly via Windows Explorer rather than using any kind of software?

Backlight on but nothing on screen!!

I clicked the menu button and the screen backlight turned on but nothing appears on it, it just stays on forever...! I tried the menu + select for 6 sec and the screen just dims out and then dims in again to stay on forever without anything ever appearing on it. Its draining the battery like nuts cause its hotter than my coffee machine!

Did I mention that it doesn't mount on my desktop? Since I dont have any interface with my Ipod through the computer, I can only mess with it manually by pressing its buttons.
The only commands I know of are the "menu + select for 6 sec" and the "menu + select for 6 sec then keep select pressed and press rewind button and keep pressed for a couple of seconds" and none of them work.
I just got it out of the service shop cause I drained the battery connecting it to my hub which isnt USB 2.0! Pretty stupid,I know...but then again I didnt receive any message saying it didnt have enough power to charge the thing, and since I'd be using it for over a week it seemed pretty strange.
Oh well...seems that something will have to be serviced again.

Help: Macbook backlight off, but can still see webpage, non-reponsive

Ok. Here we go. I bought a used Macbook for my daughter (her first Mac!).
The Macbook was in great physical shape, in fact it looks almost brand new despite being an older 2.0ghz model. Everything has been going great for the past month, until today.
The first issue came when I went and tried to wake the Macbook up from sleep. When I opened the lid, the display was on and all of my pages etc. were still open. However, it was unresponsive to any sort of input. Eventually I had to just force it power down and then restart it.
The second issue (same day), my wife went to use the computer, but discovered that the backlight was off. We could still make out the items being displayed on the screen, but again it was unresponsive. Normally, if the computer is on and the display isn't working, you can usually at least get the capslock button to light up or here the tick sound when you push the volume keys.
I am a bit concerned about this because it is the second time today that the Macbook has become unresponsive. This time when I rebooted it (after forcing it off), the fan came on for about 2 minutes. Then I ran the disk utility, but got nothing abnormal.
The Macbook is way out of warranty, which is why I turned to the discussions forum. Any help of advice would be appreciated!

Does the display work normal when booted from the install DVD?
Also, try running your hardware tester, resetting your SMC and PRAM.

Zen Nano Plus is connected but not reconi

I gave my wife a Creative Zen Nan Plus for Christmas and have spent many hours try to load it up. I connect it to the USB port and it connects to my computer, I get notification that it's connect via the safely remove hardware icon in the system tray. When I go to stop it the system just hangs and I need to unplug it to bring things back. If I leave it connected for a long time it will sometimes show up in windows explorer as a dri've but I still can't access it, if I try the system locks up until I unplug it.
I've tried everything that Creative suggests but still can't get it to work. I even plugged it into my work laptop and was able to communicate via Windows Media.
I have a Sony storage media and it works fine. I also have a scanner, digital camera and printer all that work fine with my USB ports.
Any ideas?

P.S., I've tried everything I can find on the help and forums and there appears to be nothing quite like this.

Both computers are running XP.
The laptop is from work and is running XP Pro. lt's locked down by IT so I didn't install the ZEN software. Windows Media found it okay!
The other computer is my personal computer running XP Home. I'm thinking maybe there's a conflict with Norton and checking that out now.... what to I have to loose!
My next step is to take it back to Best Buy and purchase something else!!

Zen x-fi2 not deteced but x-fi is?

I have both players mentioned above and can get the x-fi to detect but not the x-fi2. I have a windows computer with 8.1 installed.
I love my zen players and would LOVE to have a fix to this as I have 2 audiobooks waiting to be heard!

Have you tried updating Centrale to the latest version? Or maybe reinstall the whole program?

Creative Zen 16GB playlist using anything but Creative Media Explore

I need some suggestions for creating a playlist using anything but Creative Media Explorer. I hate drilling down throught the artist/album folders! I hate that I can't view my playlist in Media Explorer (Manage or Create Playlist) as anything but filenames. With a long playlist, it's hard to see if you've already added the song.
I can see my playlist on?WMP and Rhapsody but can't edit. Any other third party software that would help me? I guess Creative Media Source won't?work with the Zen 6GB. Thanks!

@ It could be incorrect ID3 tags on your .mp3s, if the source for your music had the wrong ID3 information, your Zen won't show the correct information unless you use an? ID3 Tag Editor to correct the source.

Brought a Brand new ZEN Vision M MP3 player but it wont cha

Mods please reply urgently I have brought a brand new mp3 player it wont charge using the dc charger supplied, it wont charge using the usb ports I cant get the computer to recongnise the player if i umplug the dc adaptor - the only symbol visable in the corner of the screen is a the mains power symbol - I have tried leabing it on to charge but if doesnot thing - I have looked on the creative support pages and on this forum and everyone suggests downloading the new firmware - But it has been suggested that if i do this i will void my warrenty - could you please confirm whether this is the case and if so what would you suggest i do to solve the problem Please reply asap Thanks Marmite

for new zen vision, u need to charge for at least 5hrs, without enough charge, the PC cannot recognise it. let it charge longer using your DC charger

The requirement for the installing Zen Micro explorer 6.70.6 is microsoft vista , usb port and zen micro player ..i have all these but counld not install the software ... message appear says that ' setup unable detect supported product in your system ...' Is there any solution for this ?

Regarding your more immediate problem, having a better idea of what you're trying to use is required before we can give you meaningful advice.
First of all, what is on the discs you are trying to use? If they are commercial discs, they must have a label of some kind that indicates what are are.
Then, when your insert a disc in your MacBook Pro's optical drive, what happens? Do you see a disc icon appear on your Desktop?
