Zen X-Fi 16GB AVCManU.

After connecting the device and installing the software. my Task Manager shows up this program (AVCManU.exe) and it is eating up so much resources.
CPU at around 40% and Memory Usage at 40000K
What is that? and if I close it then my Zen will unsync from the computer. If I disconnect my Zen from the computer the AVCManU will stay executed still using alot of resources.

I just installed my Zen X-Fi and I also have AVCManU running in the background. It's not taking up many resources for me and I didn't even notice it until reading this thread.
I'm running Windows XP with .5GB RAM and an .8 dual-core. What about you?

  • Zen Style 300 16GB limited to only 4000 songs????

I got the Zen Style 300 6GB for my birthday. My mp3 collection is 3 GB and this will hold the whole thing.
But no all the songs show up. ?Why is there a 4000 file limit's ?Can Creative change the firmware to allow 5000 files?
Also, why is there very little mention of this mp3 player on the boardsIs it an older model?
I noticed the some player listed 4K mp3 files and 8K WMA files. ?So I changed some mp3 into wma to see if I could get pass the 4K mark, but it did not work.

    EHi Ivanka,
I'm pretty sure The Zen Style organises the music files by their tag information instead of the folder structure. I don't own the Style so hopefully someone else can confirm this, I searched google for it but I couldn't find anything.
If it uses tags then you can browse your music by artist, album, or genre.
You can configure the menu so that you can make album view the first option of the whole player. At default?I believe? album view is the third option in the music menu, which is the third option of the home menu. So that would be down, down, right, down, down, right.
This album view lists all the albums and you can go up and down in this list and press play (most right button), it will bring you to the now-playing screen and it starts playing all the tracks that belong to that album.
The back button (most left button) will always take you back to the screen you were before. So if you press back, down, play, it will start playing all the tracks that belong to the next album on the list.
This navigation by tags will of course only work when all the tracks are properly tagged, if you downloaded the tracks then they probably already are.
There is also an option to play all the files on the player in alphabetical order while ignoring the tags. This might be more useful, because you can then skip tracks back and forth, but there is no way to skip whole albums this way.
Oh and I almost forgot: The second button from the left is programmable and acts as a shortcut. You can configure it to perform any action, for example view albums, or play all files.
I hope this was helpful in some way and you will find your way with the player.

  • Zen X-Fi 16GB Distorted Screen

Zen X-Fi 6GB Distorted Screen? Hello,
I purchased a 6GB Zen X-Fi about 2-3 weeks ago. Upon recieving it, I unpackaged it, loaded the software, and began transferring music. After disconnecting it from my computer, I went to turn the device on, and the screen was completely distorted (white lines and other various colors all over it). I kept messing with the buttons, tried restarting it, etc. with no luck. Sound still functions but I cannot see the menu at all. When the player is turned off, I see a black smudge underneath the glass.
So, I sent it back to the retailer (newegg) and they claim it was physically damaged and cannot give me a refund.
This is not my first Creative product, I also own a Zen Vision:M 30GB, as well as a? X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard. I have been pleased thus far by creative, and I am curious as to if i am able to recieve a replacement, or if anyone else has experienced this.
    Thank you for any help,
    Andrew

  • Transferring issues w/Creative Zen X-Fi 16gb w/ vista system

<Transferring issues w/Creative Zen X-Fi 6gb w/ vista system I am not computer savvy and do not understand all that computer talk. I can use a pc once the systems are set for me to use. But getting things like this running I have a hard time with. I would greatly appreciate some help.
I need someone to help me with a few things. I have a Gateway desktop pc with vista operating system. I bought a creative zen x-fi 6gb and from day one I have had problems. I think I finally got the firmware to update.
But I am still having a heck of a?time transferring music from centrale to the player. I can only do one song at a time and then after a little while of doing that (like 2 albums later) it stops working. I am doing this using the usb cable that is provided. I don't have the wireless part hooked up yet.
I also had to drag and drop my music into the centrale instead of it updating on its own. How do I fix that?
How do you make a playlist right on the player?
How do I get my calendar info from my yahoo calendar onto the Zen?
I have gone to the creative support site to see what downloads were out there. And I think I am up to date.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Creative Zen X-fi 16gb (wifi) will not dock on my laptop with windows vist

When I plug in my zen x-fi 6gb to my laptop the computer detects the player and the player says that it is docked immediately. Windows then detects the player and begins to install drivers for the player. As soon as those drivers are "installed successfully" the player is immediately undocked and cannot be detected by the computer. The device manager states: "This device cannot start. (Code 0)". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers countless times, reinstalling my USB drivers, updating my BIOS, nothing seems to work. I updated my players firmware to the latest version on another computer where the player worked fine (also vista) but it will still not work on my own computer. Please help!

    Hello Donuts,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
    Try this:
    .) Un-install Creative softwares.
2.) If you're Windows Media Player is lower than version , update it. If you already have version , try un-installing WMP and WMP runtime under add/remove programs. After uninstalling WMP, reboot your PC and re-install WMP .
    3.) Connect your ZEN X-Fi.
    Hope this hel

  • PocketDivXEncoder for ZEN 4GB/8GB/16GB/3

hey guys i just wanna a definite yes or no from anyone who has converted tv shows or movies using pocketdivxencoder and if they worked directly on their zen, without having to transcode.
    thanks in advance!

What sort of retarded response is that? With libnjp you can connect to the Creative Zen in Linux. Instead of spouting nonsense, why don't you try helping the guy?
Frantzse, your udev rules are probably misconfigured. Try adding the udev rules as per this page : http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:NJB It should let you connect to you Zen.

  • Zen X-Fi 16GB tagging iss

I just received my Zen X-Fi. When I transferred my songs over some songs that had album titles attached and some that was blank. I cannot figure out how to delete (make it blank) the album title. Whenever I edit the album title and hit delete, then hit "OK", the previously titled album name comes back in. Simply here is what I am looking for:
An alphabetical list of all my songs, either grouped by artist (regardless of album) or by song title (which I have them listed on my PC).
Also, I have moved some things (songs, song titles, album titles, etc.) around in Creative Centrale, and I am not confident that those changes took effect in my Zen.
I am really looking forward to using my new Mp3 player and its getting FRUSTRATING!
    Thanx!

    Hello,
Having a good piece of software makes your tag editing task much more painless. I highly recomend Creative Medisource Organizer 5. Its designed by creative to work with their players, and?creates less conflicts than?non creative software in my expereince. You can also use?CMO5 to transfer files to your Creative player. I'm not familiar with "Creative Centrale", but I can say definati'vely that you can "blank" out album titles in CMO5.
CMO5 has a media database; so when you edit the tags here it stores them in the database rather than the mp3's. If you screw up the tag, just re-add the file to the media library and the tag info will revert. You can permately write all of the changes you made?to the mp3 tags to the file?by having it "update the files from the database". This creates a permanate change.
You can download CMO5 from the net.
BTW, the changes you make to the files on your computer wont update on your player until you sync your music. And if Creative Centrale is similar to CMO5, I immagine the tags you edit are only updates to media database, and are not permante changes to the files, until you tell it to.

  • Creative Zen 4, 8 & 16GB MP3 Players Power Out

Hi CREATIVE Forum Members, I have searched all over the internet but have had no success in finding the actual power output in mw's on the new Creative Zen solid state devices. Can anybody help me on this. Even the CNET reviews don't provide this information. Thanks in advance for any help here... Cheers MARK.http://www.mawhitfield.com/http://www.mawhitfield.net/http://www.mawhitfield.com/holidays/bbcmediacityukweb2007q3/index8.html Message Edited by NonStopMark on 0-09-200703:4 PM

The thing is that the 25 hours battery life is based on probably the minimum configuration which is typically what most electronic devices would specify. The higher the bitrate of the mp3, the higher the power drain. I believe that if you encode all your mp3 at 32kbps or 64kbps, you will most likely be able to get the 25 hours usage with the LCD off most of the time.

  • ZEN X-Fi 16GB/32GB is seen Vista but not in Xp Pro SP3???

I got the ZEN X-Fi 6GB/32GB for my daughter for christmas. It looked like abetter deal all around compared to Ipod. My problem is I have a older pc, about 6 yrs with windows xp pro sp3, gb memory, celoron 2.05gh. When I plug it in, it discovers new hardware but does not know what it is. In the device manager it just says " USB 2.0 device". But when I connect it to the laptop with vista on it it sees it just fine. Too bad I have all my media on the older one, 20 gb and the laptop is not mine. Why would it not be seen by the older pc Have tried seaching forum and internet. No luck so far. Any help Thanks

  • Zen 16GB lock ups, text display and video conversion probl

Three issues with my new Zen 6GB. Any ideas are welcome.
The first is that it keeps randomly locking up - not whitescreened or blackscreened - just locked displaying whatever it was previously showing. This happens both while trying to transfer files (it's the same using Media Player synch, Creative Media Explorer or Windows Explorer) and while playing back files. The only solution I've found is to get a needle for the reset button and let it go through "rebuilding" when I turn it on again. That then leads to it displaying the wrong album art... but I can li've with that for now...
The second issue is a strange, definately software, one - the numeral "2" is always displayed one line below the rest of the text. This happens in the track listing, track description during playback and while setting the time / date / alarm. It's not the case when displaying the time in the top right corner, but it is in every other situation, and it's only the figure "2" that's affected.
The third issue is that the Zen Video Convertor refuses to convert any video files. Whatever format of file I have, from whatever source, I always get an error to say that the required codec is not installed.
As I said, any ideas are welcome. I'm travelling almost constantly for the next month, so don't really want to send off for replacement or repair (unless of course for a full refund, and I'll buy a replacement at the airport!).

  • Problems with Zen 16GB (and contacting customer suppo

I got some odd problems with my player.. I tried to contact customer support with that email whateverformthingy but it just always returned me to starting page of creative (the one where you choose region/language) when I clicked Submit.. No autoresponse either.
So, GJ with customer support. I hope, whatever the problem is, it will be fixed soon.
Anyway, here's what I tried to send to customer support:
    "Hey,
I got 6GB Zen at Christmas and its acting just plain weird at the moment:
    When connected through USB player
*keeps blinking full green battery&empty battery with lightning bolt over it
*reboots itself time to time. I was about to move files over and it just kept rebooting every 5~0 seconds until I un-plugged it and plugged to another USB port - after that it worked for couple minutes at started same behavior again. After I got the player it worked fine, no rebooting on it own as I moved couple GB music to it..
    When not connected
*player turns display on for couple seconds every ~hour~couple hours. It doesn't show any Creative or Zen logos, its just blacklight on with full brightness for couple seconds after which it turns off again
*the battery dies fast.. possibly because of the display blinking on all the time?
The player upgraded firmware on it own when I installed software, so it has been .20.02 all the time. Also tried reinstall firmware with the recovery tool.
Any help would be welcome before I start fix things with sledgehammer.
I'd guess that full green battery&lightning bolt over empty one means battery is critical? However, the player doesn't attempt to recharge battery. Unless I remember terribly wrong, the recharging animation is empty battery filling in blocks and getting empty again, if you understand what I mean.. Anyways. What really irritates me is the player rebooting itself when I try to recharge/move files to it and that blinking display on when I don't use it..
Any help? Someone go poke the guy who's supposed to keep customer support's emailform working?
    -Lanka
..or maybe email form didn't like me suggesting sledgehammer.

    Thanks.
Also apparently my first message did reach customer support through email form.. Suppose I was just expecting to see something like "Message sent" after I clicked Submit - not getting bounced back to region selection.
I'll continue this with customer support.

  • Zen mx 16gb player not recognising id3 tags.

,zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags.I recently bought a zen mx and so far can not get it to recognise over half of my mp3's id3 tags. All of the files are drm free. All of the unrecognised files will play but get stuck in the unknown artist unknown album catagory on the player. I have tried retagging the files in several diffrent tagging softwares and upgraded my player to the newest firmware and nothing seems to work. I had a creative vision m 30gb before I had this player and it never had this problem. I contacted customer support but they didnt seem to have any idea what an Id3 tag was and offered no relavent advice other then upgrade your firmware witch was upsetting to say the least. If anyone has any idea how to fix this that would be awesome. I feel like I just wasted almost 80 dollars.

0Re: zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags. It's just aggravating because I used to talk the company up all the time. The older creative zen's where awesome. They played every file that I had with the exclusion of open source formats like ogg witch is understandable because I'm sure that there is not much demand for that.
I wouldn't be half as upset as I am if I felt like the support people where offering decent suggestions or even an explanation of what may be wrong. I mean are there certain id3 tags that are not recognised? At least try to explain why it may not work to me so that I can fix the problem without having to re-tag every cd that I have purchased since I was fourteen. I don't think I'm going to buy anything from them again until I see that the quality of there products is getting better. Maybe I should write a review on Amazon to warn people away, after all the majority of the music that its having problems with was downloaded from Amazon.com.
Btw if your haning the same problem as me kid3 is a program that will retag your files to this players satisfaction. Not that helps if you have a large volume of music but its at least something.

  • Creative MediaSource Organizer....Will it work with Zen 16GB

I still have Creative MediaSource Organizer that I used when i had my Sleek Photo. I really liked using this program to edit the names/albums. Will this program also work with the ZEN 6GB? If not, what program do I use?

Great! Thats what I thought it would be, they were probably covering themselves with the 'works best with' so no one could come back and say "My mp3 player won't play the movie files" you know what some people are like

  • Creative, Is it worth it? (i.e. whats your experience with the Zen 16gb) and Firmware questi

After doing a sizable amount of research on the Creative Zen 6gb MP3 player, I was relati'vely comfortable with the product and decided to purchase it.
However, after browsing this forum for a few hours, I see quite a few things that trouble me about Creative in general:
"Real person" my (CENSORED) -horrible customer support
Creative Expects 3rd Quarter Loss, Sells HQ Building?
Message to Daniel_K -lack of product support/customer relations
and a countless number of other posts about hardware and software issues with the Zen
I really like the features built into the MP3 player (FM transmitter, voice recorder, Equalizer) and do not want to sell my soul to Ipod.
That being said, I wanted to see if there was anyone on this forum that actually liked their Zen and did not have issues with it.
I would greatly appreciate your positi've feedback as I hope that I will not have to spend countless more hours searching for and then researching a different MP3 player that fits my needs.
In addition, I was curious about the user interface on the Zen. I know that it uses ID3 tagging and that a folder directory cannot be used to view mp3s on the player (unless this has been added in a firmware update?, however I checked the site and did not see anything about this addition). How impeding is this ID3 tagging reliance if about 00 to 500 of my mp3s have incorrect tagging? as in, will I go crazy trying to retag everything because all I see if "Unknown" for all the data?
Yeah, that's about it for my long winded post...
    Thanks,
    Joe?

Just return from Mexico and found my Zen 4 GB player missing from a light finger baggage handler. I would not even consider, in a thousand years, of purchasing from the "fruit company" their overprice Ipod without a FM receiver. The Creative Zen rocks. Need I say more.
