ZEN X-Fi song lengthened

I got some problem with one of my mp3 songs. When I fast forward, the part that is supposed to be at 3 mins is found at 7.30 mins. And the total length is supposed to be 7mins, it becomes 9+ mins o.0
And if I select music, then Artists, the songs without an album name can't be viewed.

I don't have an X-Fi however I do own a Zen & a Zen VM. So from your main menu go into music from what I can gather from the demo your buttons have replaced the scroll that was on the ZVM (center buttons are up & down) scroll thru the music main menu to find either all tracks or DJ center button to select DJ up or down to choose Random Play All,or whatever you wish is that menu like Album of the Day, Most Popular,Highly Rated ,Least Heard,Yet to Be Rated. Help with zen micro! songs not appearing in creative mediasorce organiz

ok i decided to add a few songs to my zen micro and found out when i go to the mediasource organizer it woulden't detect my music! is my mp3 player corupt? i have even tried finding my music in windows exploror but that wont even detect it shows up blank but my mp3 player plays my music just fine. why!?

i tried installing from windows/INF and no luck there... the ONLY way it was recognized was when I configured the zen as a 4gig portablestorage dri've and that popped up immediately BUT only as storage!?I've reset it.. done the 'cleanup' stuff.. still no go. My XP install is a standard install, no quicktime and no WMP . what gives?I've looked at all pertinent articles but it doesnt seem like there is one specific fix for this.

Zen MX 16Gb - Song Playback Order

Hello. I've got all my MP3 files meticulously catalogued with ID3v. tags using MP3tag. They play in the correct track order in everything I've ever played them on, PC or MP3 player. So, I get myself a Zen MX because I want something with a larger screen that I can see better. Instead of playing the songs back in order, based upon the TRACKID, they're playing back in what appears to be alphabetical order by the song title.
Does the Zen MX ignore the ID3v. TRACKID field? Does anyone know for sure? If so, that's a deal breaker and its going back. I'm not going to recatalogue all my MP3 files.

I have owned a Creative Zen in the past, that I wore out. So I decided to get another. What a mistake! This Zen MX has been the biggest piece of crap since day !!!!!!
?The website sucks! Customer service sucks! Trying to get ANY help is not an option. Creative NEEDS to make their site more user friendly, as well as more interacti've to actually help the customer with their inferior products. I gave this to my wife, which now has a problem of not turning on since the update download never finished. I bought an I-pod. Best thing I ever did. I am SO DISAPPOINTED in this company, I will have nothing good to say about them unless they fix this problem.

Zen Nano PLus song list probl

I had transferred about 00 songs into my zen nano plus but when I played it, I realised that I had lost alot of songs. Check the system info and it states that I have only 34 songs in the player. When i check back on my pc, it indicates that i have 00 songs in my player.
I owned the gb version and have only transferred less than half of its capacity.
I have the updated firmware and driver installed and my songs are all mp3 format. Therefore there shouldn't be a reason the player can't play my songs.

So after I posted my initial qns, I went through the forums and found out that flash based players couldn't handle too many folders. I had transferred my songs using wmp sync and by doing so, the player created folders for each individual artist and broke down further into albums. This would have been great for hdd players but not for flash based ones.
What I did was to just transfer the songs individually using the explorer. It's a tad hassling but it doesn't create all those folders.
Hope that this help for any other new users of zen nano plus or flash based player. Feel a bit idiotic answering my own question though.

Play for Sure for the Zen Xtra slow song transf

Since I updated the firmware for the Zen 60gig xtra to support the Play For Sure encryption, it has very slow song transfers. I am trying to transfer about 4500 songs. It does the first 000 normal then it is like 5 mins for each one after that. So it takes like 4 days to transfer. Is there some kind of patch or driver change I need to make?

Just an update, transfer is still goin good, so all of you that are having those hangs and slow downs this 3 hot fixes posted in this forum under the MTP Thread seem to work for me. However, being a Regional IT Manager I know that what works for one computer doesnt always apply. I remember seeing the IMPORTANT Note just before I downloaded the firmware and I thought, naw... I dont need any updates, I do my Microsoft Updates so im cool, but the hotfixes mentioned are not CRITICAL updates so you have to manually apply them. In my opinion this is not really a Creative issue since they are depending on the files from the Play For Sure protocal and those are coming from Microsoft, so they have to kind of rely on whats out there and unfortunately for us poor *******s to update. I am wondering if they can include the hotfixes in their install? SOmething that would detect to see if the hotfix is present and if not, install? Just a thought, or at least prompt you to go get the hotfix first then install.

Zen Nano skips songs between playing

i own 2 zen nano's and both of them have been skipping songs randomly between playing... for example, it'll play -2 minutes of a particular song, then it skips to something else... then it'll come back to the original song...what's going on?
i've changed batteries and all!!

My NANO worked just for 22 days after I got it...
Then the flash memory corrupted and I was unable to delete/update files...
During the time it was working good, I experienced some mp3 files were incompatible with this player: BUT such files were simply ignored and the first next valid song was played instead. This is not really a shame for NANO because there are a lot of mp3 codec variants so, sometimes even the best player for PC fails to play...
But the strange behaviour of your NANO is not clear to me...
Theory :
May be the file sistem has logical errors. So, the files are randomly chained and the player is playing some data from the first song, some from the next song and then from the first song again(?)
Long time ago, I had an HDD crash. It was a software crash due to windows halted while writing the File Allocation Table. The result was all my movies, stored on HDD, get mixed togheter! Incredible...
->If you clear the files from NANO and then upload them again in a different order, the songs play bad in the same manner or it depends on the position in the memory?
Theory 2:
your firmware got damaged in some parts while you was upload mp3 files and now the program is corrupted...
Both cases randomly happened because the NANO firmware is bugged and bad designed in the file handling, I think...

Zen Micro/iTunes/Song Ord

I have searched for this topic and had little luck but if this is a repeat, I apologize. I have downloaded the plug-in to allow my mac itunes to put songs on my zen micro. However, the songs are listed in alphabetical order on my micro and not in the correct order that the album has them in.
Is there a way to fix this so they are listed by actual track listings rather than alpha order?

I wiped the the Micro clean, and now it won't let me reload the firmware. It claims some program is keeping it from working and it told me to close whatever it was, but there was absolutely NOTHING to close. any ideas?

Zen Micro Issue - Song

My 5GB Zen Micro has worked well as long as I have had it, besides the known Hphonejack issue. Anyway about a month ago, i was loading up some more songs, and when i got to song #229, it wouldnt let me put it on. ok, i figured the song was messed up. so then i try to put on another song, didnt work. Then i try to take songs OFF. No dice. Basically all functionality was lost besides listening to the songs i have. It works when i reformat, but i would prefer to be able to fill use my player to its fullest. also, when i disconnect it, it stays on that loading screen for like 5min before returning to the songs on there
perhaps a firmware update is needed? replacement player? if u know a remedy, plz tell me. thx

Creative Zen Vision:M Song titles disp

Duuuuuuuuudes first of all I'm one of those iPOD converts to Creative and I sincerely believe the ZVM kicks some serious iPOD a$$ :smileysurprised: !!! Okay everything works absolutely fine loaded the movies...loaded the albums....but something strange happens :smileyindifferent: ! Songs in the album are all showing as unknown track and unkown artist :angry: ! Does it mean I need to retag(ID3) my songs all over again!!!! that's a $hit load of songs to retag :robotmad: !!!

Hi there - you can put the songs/name of artist/genre etc on your player. You can edit the songs once they are on your player and the player is connected to your computer by right clicking and going down to edit track properties. Hope this works!! good luck!

It all depends on how big the file is. Asuming it's around 4 MB it should take about 0 seconds for that one song. I have USB . and sometimes it can be slow. Wish I had USB 2.0

Zen Micro. Song transfer prob

Okay this happened to me twice first time I thought it was a fluke but since its happened twice I thought I'd report it / see if anyone else has seen it.
My micro is pretty full. I have a couple very big audio book files like 400 meg each.
After I finish a track I delete it an put on the next track. When doing the transfer it looks like everything worked fine. But when I go to listen to my new audio book it seems like it never transfered the new file over. It puts me at a random place in some music or the previous book I deleted. The track is around 7 hours long and if I move around the track it sometimes switches to other stuff I deleted.
So it appears it reserved a spot on the disk for my new track but it never wrote over the old stuff.

Well I did have about 600 meg free and the book was 450 meg or so. So I had plenty of disk space. When I got home I deleted the "new" track and reloaded it...
No problem this time. It just seems weird this would happen and not give me any errors.
As far as updating goes I hate windows media player and will not ever use it. It seems like all of the updates either force you to use windows media player or the just change some of the graphics on the screen. Am I missing something?

Exporting song lists to Excel, etc. with Zen Vision:M 3

Hello-
Is there any way to export my songs from the Zen to Excel (or any other similar program)? I have researched previous requests, and all pointed to the previous version of Creative Media Explorer, along with a 3rd party program called Notmad. Unfortunately, Notmad will not work, as it does not support the Zen Vision (though it does support the non-vision Zen series). Please note I did download it and attempted to use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never mind, I found a very easy method:
1. Download Media Monkey, FREE at www.mediamonkey.com
2. Media Monkey will find the Zen. Select the Zen so the songs appear.
3. Go to File:Reports, and choose export as Excel.
4. Choose the location, and there you go!!!

Duplicate song titles in Zen To

The way that the Zen Touch stores songs works for 95% of my music. However, I've got a bunch of albums that I've downloaded from archi've.org (li've concerts), as well as some other li've albums in which the artist plays the same song twice. So the album, artist, and title are all duplicate, but the track number is different. The filenames on my computer are different (I use a track-artist-title naming convention), so I've got no problem playing them with MediaMonkey or WinAmp, but, even though the Zen can read and understand the track number (it obviously can play an album in track order), it ignores it when storing the songs, meaning that, for instance, I can only listen to the first time Johnny Cash sings San Quentin on my Li've At San Quentin album (not an obscure title), but not the second.
From reading moderator posts from March saying that the firmware update would be out "any time now", I understand that I'm tilting at a windmill here, but this kind of a change should take no more than a day to code up and fully test, and would make the Zen compatable with all of my albums rather than most without adding significantly to the size of the database. Yes, I realize I could go through and rename every duplicate track in my 6000 song collection, but it seems silly since a fix should be dirt easy and the other programs I use to manage and play my music is smart enough to read the track number tag.
Not hopeful, just sayin'...

I'd be wary of making broadbrush statements like this. Having worked with software development nothing is ever this easy, and without knowing Creative's player intimately, how the coding works, and how it's tested, it's not possible to make conclusi've leaps like this.
Despite this, I absolutely agree that the track number should be included in the database index, but we've been saying this since the days of the NJB (4+ years ago) so I wouldn't hold your breath ?Also it's been listed on my wishlist page for a long while.

Cannot play with my Zen songs (wma format) downloded legally from websi

I downloaded legally ($0.99 each) a few songs from a wma format site. The songs are on my computer (C dri've) and I can play them with Creative Media source. However, when I synchronise with my Zen Micro, the songs appear on the listing but with a lock icon beside it and my Zen Micro refuses to play them. Any suggestions

The website is sympatico.ca It is the home website of bell canada, the local incumbant phone company, so it is reliable.
As for the firmware, I have already downloaded the most recent version from Creative's website a few days ago.

My Zen Micro has the "hiccups"!

I so WANT to love my Micro, but it's been hard to do so. I've had to send it in for an RMA twice already....and I've only had it for 3.5 months. It's been quite frustrating.
Here's the latest episode: for some reason my unit has had these "hiccups". Picture this, a song is playing and every so often little smidgens (maybe a second or so) of other songs (usually the one that played just before the present one), and sometimes even of the same song, skip into it. I already performed disk cleanup once, as well as re-formatted the hard disk (which I don't care to do again after 3 times........the time I've invested in re-importing my music is what ticks me off the most).
Can anyone tell me what's going on with my machine? Is this an isolated case or has someone experienced this as well? It's irrelevant if the song was downloaded or was burned from a CD. It keeps happening. I honestly have no choice as far a s returning the unit, I wouldn't get all my money back. So can someone please suggest a cure?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

yes i have had the same problem with my previous zen micro, my songs were slow to load and the song would stop mid way through a song. this then lead on to the player not even booting up. i tryred all the options on the recovery mode but these didnt help and eventually i had to send it back. i haven't had a similia problem with my new one but a problem has occoured and i am now in the process of sending back another one !!
