Zen x-fi went thru the wash

My son ran his zen 6g x-fi thru the washing machine. I dried it out for a few days, and now it powers on, but nothing happens on the screen. At first there was condensation, but that's cleared out now. I'd like to open the unit up to let it dry out better, but don't have a clue how to do that without breaking the plastic body.
The unit does sync up with windows explorer, and I've backed up all his music and data files.
Anyone have any suggestions before we chuck it's?

Wi-Fi is extremely power hungry - I hope I don't need my car battery to run it.

Okay, my Muvo N200 went thru the wash. It still turns on, but while it's on all the buttons function as off.
I connected it to the computer, and it prompted me to insert the install disk for "Recovery". However, all this did was make a SysRestore point.
    Anybody got any ideas?

I have no idea man.. all I can say is water and electronics dont mix

  • Shuffle went thru the wash!

    Help...
After going through the washer and dryer, It won't hold a charge. It appears on itunes, and it will play from there. Can I replace the battery? and How?

Make sure it is dried out.......? but the dryer my guess cooked your battery dry !
On a side note my son sent his nano through the washer and dryer at college and it still works.
I am betting you have a hotter dryer. When I first got mine I lost it about 1 week after I bought it. I didn't let any laundry get done until I found it. The Shuffle turned out to be hidden in a bag in my truck console, after that point I decided to always use the Lanyard so that it doesn't get missed from it's small size

  • HELP!! iPod went thru the wash but..

    Hi guys,
Recently, I accidentally "sent" my iPod Nano 4th Gen for washing.
There was water around the screen area and i have blowdry it but i still couldn't on it. The problem is that when i connect it to my computer, my iPod could still function as per normal but when i disconnect it from the computer and tried to on it again, it just wouldn't work anymore. Tried resetting it but still to no avail.
Any advice to rectify this problem? or i have to get a new one?

Blow drying it was a bad idea, as was connecting it to the computer (power) as electricity and water do not mix. How long did you let it sit and dry? 5 - 7 days would be good.
I suspect sufficient damage has been done that any new steps will not work. You can try a 3rd party repair site, such as http://www.iresq.com or just get a new one. At an Apple Store they will give you 10% off if you trade in the old one, or you can sell it to someone for parts.

Leave it in the rice for at least a day and change the rice every other day or so. The rice and iPod should be in a sealed container.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $149. They do not fix yours.

  • Is there any hope for a Nano 6th gen that went through the washing machine?

Is there any hope for a Nano 6th Gen that went through the washing machine?  All of the devices contents are showing up in iTunes when connected but the device itself is not working.

    Hello kpratta,
There is some hope. I have heard of someone putting the ipod in a bag of dry rice and putting the bag in a dark place for a 4-5 days. After that they used this:
    www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
This has the best chance. The rice absorbs any liquid in the ipod.
    Hope this helps.

  • My ipod went through the wash about two years ago and now the wifi is dimed out and wont let me turn it on. :/

okay so , my ipod is about two years old and went through the washer and dryer. no one has used it for two years because no one ever took the time to fix it, until now when my previous ipod cracked and barley works now. So i took it upon my time to fix this washed ipod and i have been able to successfully restore it and , backup, and restore backup. i have also reset the network settings, and still my wifi is dimmed out and wont let me switch it on, i have read the apple websites resolution to this problem and i have tried it and they do not seem to work as my wifi is still DIMMED out. I would like to switch over to this one because my cracked one is hard to use, but in order for me to use this one it would be very nice to have wifi so i could download apps, and when i restored and reset the ipod to act like a new one, it wont even let me sign in to my apple id because i do not have Internet, now the funny part is my wifi is working fine for my 5 family members and their phones/android tablets, i am the only one who has an apple device. please right back!!! thanks!

  • Daughter's IPod Touch went through the washer!  Any hope?  What to do?

Her new IPod Touch went through the washer. Can anything be done to salvage it?

Do not turn it on. Put it in rice for 1 - 2 weeks. Take it out, and attempt to turn it on. If it says to plug it in, you can jump up and down. Plug it in, and charge it. If it works, yay!
Did you know, if the metal inside was a metal that didn't rust, and no electricity was going through the circut boards, you could wash your iPod as many times as you wanted. Just when you want to use it again, make sure it's dry.

Daughter's iPod touch went through the washer. Do i need to take the back off somehow before I try putting it in rice?

No. Just put it in rice as is.
You may have success in getting it to boot after using the rice technique, but it will sincerely doubtfully never fully function again.

  • My first gen Ipod went in the wash and now I cannot get wifi on it.

I am trying to link coc between a new ipod and my iPad. The iPad was the old device. I did as I was supposed to by logging in the Game Center, then opening coc, and went thru the tutorial. The Game Center keeps trying to load the new village on my iPad and not the other way around. It basically is trying to make my old village the new village, meaning I lose a lot of progress. How do make it combine the 2? If I cannot, is there a way to remove the new village off the Game Center and add the one I want to be saved? Thank you.

You'll have to contact the app developer for help with this.
