Zen xtra 30gb compatible with xbox36

Hi, it is said on the xbox.xom website that zen xtra are supported on xbox360, but when i plug it in my xbox i get nothing, the xbox does not detect my player. Do I need a special firmware like they say or my player is simply not compatible at all?
I have firmware .20.08 (the file name), when in the player and select ABOUT, it gives me "version .03.02" ...
thanks for helping me

DM is correct, you would need to load the MTP firmware if you want to use the player directly with your Xbox360, otherwise it will not be recognised.
DM wrote:It might require some update, but people on the Xbox forums dont even know how to connect it. It seems that only those players with the PlaysForSure/MTP firmware work.
It requires MTP, but getting it working then is very easy. Just connect the player, and go into the option on the Dashboard (I believe it's called "Play from a music device").

I also checked out the site he/she suggested about installing this FirmWare and that site says "Back up all audio, video, image or data files stored in the player to a secure location before changing the firmware. • Zen Xtra 30GB freezes up on

I have a Zen Xtra 30GB that is just about 2 weeks old, and it just froze on me this morning. I mean completely froze, I could not even turn it off, I had to remove the battery to shut it off. What gives?

Could be a number of things. Is it working now? If so, take note of which file it froze on (if you remember) and try playing that again to see if it works. If it hangs again, it could be a problem with that particular file.
Try running the Clean Up in Rescue Mode.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB mp3 player - Windows Vista

I no longer have the disc that came with my player and can't seem to find drivers to get my PC to recognize the player. Downloads seem to be for older operating systems maybe because the player is so old. When I try to downlod them I get errors. Not sure if I have the right drivers. Can anyone find them? Model # DAP-HDOO

I'm trying to find a way to make sure my Zen still works if I upgrade my OS to W7 (I've got the 60Gb version). You don't say which OS you are using, but I think it is relevant. Everyone seems to have a problem with Vista, and I've only found one place where they said they can get it to work with W7, using Compatibility Mode.
There is also a lot of stuff about a conflict with Windows Media Player v. I don't know if that was ever resolved, but people were advised to roll WMP back to v0.
Creative have pulled the plug on support for these machines, although you can still get the latest firmware from there. I'm reluctant to try it in case my machine crashes halfway through.
This is the text of the posting I found about W7. Good luck!
    Creative Zen Xtra
Microsoft have certainly made the compatibility mode powerful in Windows 7!
I could only get basic use from my Zen Xtra in Vista, using Real Media Player
to play tracks from the Zen Xtra, but in Windows 7 it works flawlessly.
Basically the driver for the Zen Xtra is incompatible with Windows 7. However,
if you download the XP driver and right click the installation file and select
the Troubleshoot Compatibility heading and use the recommended settings to
install the driver, then install the Creative Mediascource 5 for Vista, then
the plugin for the Zen Xtra for Mediascource (both install without compatibility
mode), you will get a warning that the driver is incompatible but ignore this and
restart the computer. I then started Mediascource software, noticed the Zen
Xtra listed, clicked on 'Playlist', and it loaded, no problem! Playback, no
problems, transfer to player, no problems!
I am NOT using the 'Play 4 Sure' firmware update either!
Also for those with the Audigy 2 or 4 sound cards, Creative have issued a
beta driver for Windows 7, I am using this without the previous distortion
that the default Windows driver gives. Everything is cool! This was my main
reason for not replacing XP as my main OS.

  • Zen xtra 30gb battery issue and question about headpho

frist thing is that my zen xtra 30gb is having a minor problem concerning its battery. when i charge it, the meter doesnt fill up, however when i unplug it, the correct amout on the power meter is there. what can i do about this.
second, im supposed to be getting the sony fontopia ex7 within the next few weeks, what would be the best recommendation for eq settings.
if anyone can help, it would be gladly appreciated.

Whenever you get strange behaviour run a disk cleanup. To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
If that doesn't help, you might also want to download and install the latest firmware update from Nomadworld.com downloads. Make sure to follow the instructions on the download page about how to upgrade.
If that doesn't help, then flatten the battery through normal use and recharge it fully before using it again (a full recharge takes at most about 4 hours). Do this a couple of times. Sometimes the indicators get "uneducated" and this is supposed to re-educate them.

  • Zen Micro is compatible with Audible.co

Creative Labs Direct Sales responded to my question with this quote "Yes, the Zen Micro is compatible with Audible.com. Any format used at Audible.com should work just fine with the Zen Micro."
Everytime I try to transfer Audible content to the Zen Micro I receive an error message. Is there software that needs to be downloaded? Is the transfer process different?
    -Rukauf

It's not... there are a few other threads here containing workarounds (sorry I don't know how to post the link to them here) that involve either ) burning the Audible.com files to CDs and then ripping the CDs or 2) converting the Audible.com files to wav files using a program called Microsoft Graph Edit, and then converting them to mp3 or wma.
You aren't the first who states they have received incorrect information on this subject. Further, I contacted Audible about their future plans to support the Zen Micro. They responded that they currently have no plans to support it (as of late January)
I am a huge fan of this player, but if you want to be assured of seamless Audible.com supprt, you should probably consider a different player until a clear direction is determined.
    Good luck,

  • Issues with Zen Xtra (30GB) PlaysForSure firmw

Apologies if this subject has been covered, but I haven't found any coverage of the particular problems I have with the firmware upgrade (2.0.03).
My main beef is to do with the compatibility with the firmware upgrade and Creative MediaSource. Before I installed the firmware upgrade, along with the drivers and necessary software updates, I was extremely happy with the way MediaSource worked with my Zen Xtra. When I wanted to listen to music through my computer (often), I would simply plug in my player, and using MediaSource, I could navigate through my player's library with ease. It meant it wasn't necessary for me to store music on my computer's hard dri've. Now, while it is still possible to listen to the music on my player using MediaSource, the music library window doesn't feature the Artist/Album/Genre windows for easy navigation (Added to this, due to the way I backed my music up when installing the new firmware, my music is all in Artist/Album folders, making it even more of a nuisance to use).
I know it is the firmware making it do this, because with my friend's Zen Xtra which doesn't have the firmware upgrade, the old style navigation still applied. As it does with my PC Music Library (a function I don't use).
Also, the firmware seems to have made my player much slower and less responsi've, and (this may just be paranoia) the shuffle mode seems much less effecti've.
I wish I could just go back to the way things were, but of course, I can't, because for some reason Creative have made it impossible to revert to the previous firmware!
    Can anyone help?

Sounds like an incompatibility with the card, which is surprising as NEC cards are usually no problem. There are various things to try as mentioned in the FAQ post (search on "connection problems") but I think you need to focus on making sure you have the latest drivers for the card, as well as the player itself.

  • Got my Zen XTRA 30GB replacement today - a Rhomba 256

    Yihaa!
That is just wonderful. After having waited two weeks for my SECOND replacement Zen XTRA I recieve the worst player Creative has ever shipped - a Rhomba 256MB... I am so happy!
Is there no way of getting compensated for stuff like this? Cat?

I have been on the phone with a guy on the Swedish support team - they are sending out a new 30GB XTRA for NEXT week. I will have to wait another week! Arrgh! This is not standable - how can a company do this?
Is there anyway of being compensated, do you think? I mean ? months of the total ownership time, I have actually not had my player!

  • Creative Zen Xtra 30gb

    Hi,
I'm wondering if any techie guys can help me out here. I bought a 30gb Creative Zen Xtra about 4 years ago. I used to regualy syncronize it with my pc at home. Then one day my hard disk on my PC decided to give up the ghost and died. I carried on using my mp3 player as it was for a while without actually resetting the connection up with my PC. Then one day went about sorting it out but whilst i was in the process, which I would start and often come back to whilst trying to get all the correct drivers etc, it was plugged in via USB and must have fallen off my computer desk and unfortunatly ripped the USB connection component from the mp3 players board. As it was quite an old player anyway I thought i'd have a go at repairing it myself, rather than spend money on what is esentially a bulky 4 year old mp3 player, but I have since given up trying to repair it. Although now I would like to try and transfer the mp3's, which are on the fujitsu 2 /2 inch IDE, dri've to my PC. I have tried using an IDE to USB converter to try and connect it as an additional dri've on my PC which it detects but won't bring it up as an additional dri've (i assume because it's not NTFS or FAT32 formatted). I have also tried using Linux based Fedora to try and mount the dri've, also without any luck (although i'm not overly familiar with using fedora). Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the information off my dri've, as I would like to buy a new Creative mp3 player and just transfer all these mp3's from my computer rather than have to re-record the hundreds of cd's I had uploaded over time to my Zen Xtra. Also if I have posted this in the wrong section please let me know and I will move the post. Cheers, Gary.Message Edited by hirsty on 09-27-200704:42 PM

I don't know but I certainly hope so!!! It really sucks that my Zen Xtra was bought 2 months too soon and doesn't work with Napster to go!!! I am reallllly hoping that Creative and Napster will work together so that all the creative models will work with Napster to Go!

  • Creative Zen-is it compatible with the Griffin Player pa

Looking for info on accessories. I was at Circuit City, and they have a Griffin Player Pack, which includes an fm transmitter with charging capablities, and a house charger (it also has a california roll for storing, and an audio in cord). It doesn't say specifically if this is compatible with the Creative Zen, and the guy behind the counter had never even seen the Zen before. Has anyone tried these? Also, is there a difference in fm transmitters? Are the more expensi've ones any better than the cheap ones? Thanks for any help!

Is your source very large in the number of files to transfer
    - It's just mp3 files (about 200 CD's ripped to mp3 files)For small sources (music) you can manually build and drag your MP3 files to your manually built folders.
    - Do you mean it's possible to create folders on the Creative ZEN itself Is your source in MP3 format NON DRM protected music - I do not know what "NON DRM protected music" means Do you have a link to download the manual for the Creative ZEN Message Edited by larshgf on 04-5-2008 02:24 PM

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra stops working with XP following Windows Media Player 11 Beta Installat

Yesterday I was very pleased to find that my Creative Zen Xtra (model DAP-HD00) portable media player is a PlaysForSure capable device. Creative Labs, on November 9, 2005, released the Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware v2.0.03. I installed this firmware (I had to install the Creative ZenJukebox Driver v.30.03 first to get Windows to recognize the device). Once the firmware was upgraded, Windows began recognizing the Zen Xtra as a MTP device and life was good. I was able to synchronize it with both Napster To Go and Windows Media Player 0.
After this, I went ahead and installed Windows Media Player Beta, which I just downloaded yesterday as well.
From a functional standpoint, WMP seems to run just fine. However, when I connected the Creative Zen Xtra (with its PlaysForSure firmware), Windows redetected the hardware. It first showed "Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra" in the tooltip, followed by "MTP Device" in the new hardware tooltip. Finally, Windows announced that there was a problem installing my new hardware and that it may not work properly.
Sure enough, when I went into Device Manager, my Zen Xtra was showing as an MTP Device with an exclamation point on it. More specifically, it specified the status of, "This device cannot start (Code 0)."
Prior to the installation of Windows Media Player, the Creative Zen Xtra showed in device manager with the following characteristics under the heading "Windows Portable Devices":
Name: NOMAD Jukebox Zen XtraDriver Version: 5.2.0.0 dated 8/30/2004Digitally Signed by Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
    Driver File Details:C:\Windows\system32\wpdusb.sys - v5.2.3802.3802 built by dnsrv(bld4act)
Windows Media Player changed this to the following (the device now shows up under "Portable Devices"):
Name: MTP DeviceDriver Version: 5.2.5326.4762 dated 2/22/2006Digitally Signed by Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
    Driver File Details:C:\Windows\system32\wpdusb.sys - v5.2.5358.4827 (WMP_.060509-2009)C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\wudfrd.sys - v6.0.5348.0(winmain(wmbla).0604-339)
The file wudfrd.sys is NOT digitally signed in this case.
As of now, my Zen Xtra is completely unusable on this system, and I need to sync it with my laptop for the time being, which still has WMP 0 installed on it.
Is this a bug with WMP beta? Is it a problem with my firmware? Since this is PlaysForSure compliant firmware, and it worked flawlessly with Napster and WMP 0 (before the MTP driver was updated), it would seem to be a WMP beta issue. I'd like to hear more official confirmation on the subject, however.
Some general details about my system are:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2Verified GENUINE Microsoft operating system using Genuine Advantage ValidationIntel Pentium 4 CPU 3.2 GHz, Hyper-Threaded processor2.00 GB RAM
Windows Media Player Version: .0.5358.4827Napster Version: 3.6.0.7 (US)
Any recommendations? Fixes? Some have suggested rolling back the WMP installation, but I would like to consider this option only as an absolute last resort.
    Best regards,Matt

Ok, this worked out accidentally - but happily
I first installed the driver - not the media source - but the driver for the device.
After that the windows device manager yellow sign disappeared - apparently the device driver was registered by windows.
Then I Installed Mediasource 5 - the installation went thru fine.
Does anyone have any recommended updates to install, please also advise what benefits.
    Thanks.

  • Is the Zen Touch 2 compatible with micro SDHC?

    Hi,
The specifications page on the creative website showed that the Zen Touch 2 was compatible with micro SD cards, but now I'm wondering if it's compatible with the micro SDHC?
    In advance thanks,

    Hi.
I know this was posted some time ago... But I thought I would add the page where Creative tells us which micro sdhc cards (and card class) they would like us to use:

  • Zen Xtra 30G Works with Windows Vista Home Ba

I am writing this to help anyone who has experienced this problem. I don't know if this fix will work for all of you, on other versions of Vista, or if you have other firmware installed will not work for you. Note, since Vista was released Microsoft or Creative could have sent them updated drivers without anyone knowing. I have had Vista Home Basic for year now.
After some tweaking, the Windows XP drivers worked on Vista Home Basic.
I then use Nomad Explorer meant for XP to manage the MP3 files on my Zen Xtra.
    Firmware .20.08 30G Zen Xtra
    No Playforsure installed
    Vista Home Basic
    User Account Control OFF
    Here were my steps:
Connect your Xtra to the PC running Vista.
When first connected to Vista without drivers installed, Vista attempts to find drivers, if it finds them you'll be golden, but as I know there are no such drivers, if not it should return unsuccessfully.
Download the latest USB drivers and 2004 Nomad Explorer from Creative's website.
    Run all as administrator.
Right click properties to set to run these programs in Windows XP Service Pack 2 emulation mode.
Install the driver, it will hang and time out, and some drivers will be installed.
Install Nomad Explorer, if enough drivers were installed it will finish installation.
    Unplug the Xtra.
    Reboot.
After Vista is booted, plug in the Xtra. It will now cause the driver to load, with a bizarre off sized icon. It will view files but you cannot open or access files. Media Player will try to boot and bomb, it cannot access files nor downloaded them.
Now boot Nomad Explorer. It runs through the Xtra drivers. It will work like XP but look like Vista.

Hi i tried the 3 posible solutions with not good results:
    - The driver from nomadworld is the same, so it didn't work either
    JB3_PCWDRV_US__26_02.exe
    - I tried to disable my antivirus, but I still get the same error at the end of the installation:
"An error occurred while setting up the driver"
    - I saw the last reply about the device manager, but there's no Zen on the device manager, i had seen when a device have a error because of the driver, but in this case it doesn't appear anything.
I didn't understand which .inf I need to modify, could yopu explain me more? please.
May be is related to this, because my drivers path is "C:\Archivos de programa\Creative\Jukebox 3 Drivers", probably there's some path hardcoded in the installer.
