Zen Xtra in car w/out tape de

Is there a way to hook up a Zen Xtra in my car that doesn't have a tape deck? I haven't seen anything on creative's site that does. If there is a way please let me know and include where I can purchase or have this installed.

i have heard of ppl doin that...what it is basically is that u put a lil plug some where in ur car (most ppl i heard of put it in the glove box)...then u run the connection to ur stereo inputs in the back...problem is not all car stereos have the inputs for it...if u have an aftermarket stereo chances r better but for a factory one...its rare to have it...u can go to any car stereo place and ask if they have the connector and if ur stereo supports it...just be sure not to let them talk u into a $000 system for it...lol....good luck

UK Zen Xtra has a problem, out of warrenty...Where is best to get it fix

Hi all!
Bit of a problem, My 30gb Zen Xtra (4 months old, so out of warrenty) has developed a problem with the skip-forward button, I think it's the fact that I have it on "Play any Track" so often and skip forward, gradually broken the button somehow.....
I think it's a fairly simple repair, as the rest of the player works perfectly well and all that would be required (I think) is to remove all the casing, re-align or replace the button and ta-dah!
But who will do it's Will any decent electrical shop have the know-how? Or do Creative have specific partners who are specialised in repairing ZEN players?
Any help from you guys would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Connecting zen touch to car stereo (no tape dec

i'd like to play music from my zen touch in my car, but i've a head unit with no tape deck.... is there some accessory/way i can get by without a tape adapter? thanks,

Most car decks don't have auxillary input with the two holes. The Aux. input is usually combined with the CD Changer option, an adapter is usually needed to convert the CD changer jack to an Aux. Jack.
Most likely if you are trying to do this with a stock deck, it might be impossible, but it doesn't hurt to try take a look and see if there is an Aux input.

Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra car accessor

Simple question:
I have a 40GB Zen Xtra and I was wonderign what accessories I would need to purhsase in order to properly hook the device to my car stereo. My car does not have a tape player which was used back in the day to hook up the portable CD players etc. It has s single CD player etc.

How do I get out of warranty repair on Zen Xtra 6

I installed Windows Media Player and it informed me my driver was out of date. I clicked on their link and downloaded the new driver and "Play for Sure" os update. When I applied the OS update, it stopped after the first time it said my Zen was rebooting. I had waited 6 hours as it said it could take some time to complete. Now it goes to the resuce mode. I've tried disk clean up, format the disk, and delete the os then tried to flash up OS. The computer says the device is not connected despite it showing up in "my computer". I emailed Tech Support and, being very helpful, they said it is outside warranty. I responded fine, how do I send it in for out of warranty repair. They replied to call Customer Service. Now there is a misnomer if I ever heard of it. I called the 800 number. The nice lady said she could sell me a new player but I'd have to call 405-742-6622 fpr tech support. So I call the number and listen to their blurb about visiting to the website which has *NO* reference on how to obtain out of warranty repair. Then the phone menu determines I am out of 60 day complimentary support but I can get a tutor session for $2.99?I know how to use the player, I've used it for a couple years. What I needed to know was how to send it in for out of warranty repair. Back to the 800 number. Woman will help me buy a new player but says there is no way to obtain repair out of warranty but I can pay for a tutor session. I've searched the knowledge base and forums here. I see this question asked before and it seems like no one has gotten an answer. Can anyone please tell me how to get out of the Twilight Zone of Awful Customer Service and reach someone who can tell me how to get it repaired out of warranty?Or am I doomed to write off my $600 Zen Xtra as a useless paperweight?I have an Archos AV500 which needed out of warranty repair and it took me less than 5 minutes on one phone call to make the arrangements...

Did you download the PC version? There is no DOS in OSX.

(Zen Xtra) Files aren't copying properly, I can't figure out how to fix th

I got my Zen Xtra 60 GB a few days ago, and I love it, but there's one thing that's pissing me off. I copy an album/folder over to my MP3 player, and I don't get any error messages, but when I go to the album on my MP3 player, it turns out that only a few of the songs copied. No matter how much I try, the songs just won't copy. These are all MP3s. Why is this, and what can I do about it's

Are your original album files from store-bought CD's or did you download them off the internet? (Don't worry - I'm not gonna turn you in). If you downloaded them like I did (once), the files are often mislabeled and generally screwed-up. When I thought I put all my Engelbert Humperdinck songs in "The Greatest Hits" album, not all of them played until I labeled ALL with the proper artist, album, genre and then gave each a unique track number (don't use zero as a track #). Now they all work fine. It's a major pain going through all one's music to do this but it's worth it.
But if you ripped legitimate CD's to MP3 and your albums still don't play, I can't help you. They have all the proper info already on each track.

In my old player Zen usb 2.0 I work with a 60 Gig but it recognised only 3 Gig with this 3 it works fine. :womanvery-happy:

Zen Xtra with USB on car ster

Hi,
Can anyone clarify this for me?
I've heard that the new firmware will let you use the Zen Xtra as if it were a usb pen dri've, wil this allow stereo's with USB connectivity to read the mp3's off the Zen?

The iPod can't play music as a mass storage device either. USB stereos generally require an Ipod connector that can cost around $00. Apparently, Zen's aren't popular enough to warrant 3rd parties manufacturing these connectors.
There is more than one way to skin a cat, however.
For around $85, you can get a 40 gb 2.5" HDD and an enclosure. Just copy your non-DRM mp3/wma files to it, plug it into your stereo, and you should be good to go. And you'll have a handy backup of your music to boot.

Is zen xtra getting fazed out/o

ok i only bought a zen xtra in april 2005 for my b-day but it seems to me that it is fazing out and becoming old and outdated...making me want to sell it and buy a zen touch....does any think it is gettin fazed out?

ZEN Xtra - Getting out of Rescue M

I just got my Zen Xtra a week ago and today I had a problem with it freezing up, so, I took the action I had taken previously when it happened and removed the battery. Now everytime I load the player it comes up in Rescue Mode. I tried cleaning up, but how do I get out of Rescue Mode. Even when I reboot it comes back up in Rescue mode.
Any ideas? Thanks!

If you don't want to try this, or it doesn't help, and assuming you're under warranty contact Creative Support.
If not under warranty you can consider replacing the hard disk (although you take a risk that this is the problem) or get Creative Support to repair it at a cost.

Car adapter for zen xtra 40 or 60

Hello all!
I did do a message search for this question, but I couldn't find what I was looking for...so I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered.
I'm thinking of buying a zen xtra 40 or 60 GB tomorrow, but I really need the car adapter to charge and/or play it. Is there one available? I read on an Amazon review that you could buy one at Radio Shack or Bed Bath and Beyond? Can anyone verify this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my decision is based upon this answer...

I've just bought myself a Zen Xtra 60GB and was pretty dissapointed to find out that the wired remote and FM Tuner is not compatible with my player (especially considering the sales person had said it was). From other posts in the forum, it doesn't sound as though Creative make an FM Tuner that is compatible with the Zen Xtra, so what I'm wondering, is if there are other FM Tuners out there that will work with the Zen Xtra? I'm new to the forum, so dont know if it's ok to post this kind of info here.
Also, seeing as there is a 'car' profile on the Zen Xtra, I assume you can use a car kit tape to play it through your car stereo. I'm also new to mp3 players and stuff, so can anyone tell me if any car kit can be used, or is it make specific?

No compatible FM tuner that I'm aware of. You can find the car kit at their online store.

ADD device in Audible...Zen xtra don't w

I have WIN98SE. I have a Zen Xtra 40gb. Latest firmware and drivers. Device manager sees Zen.
I cannot get add device to work in Audible Manager (4.0). With the Zen connected, i do add device, and nothing happens.

I don't have a specific answer for you ... but a question instead: When you say you plugged it into more than computer, did you use the same USB cable each time? The reason I ask is because of what I experienced just the other day (that really confused me after I thought I had figured out some of this stuff).
I have been successfully plugging my Zen V Plus 2GB (like yours) into the USB port on the front of my PC (some people have to plug it into a back port) and it charges very well. But I wanted it to charge a bit faster, so I bought a Belkin charger from Wal-Mart (it comes with a charger for a wall outlet, a car charger, and a short USB cable that plugs into the back of either charger). Well, I left the Belkin USB cable in my car's glovebox so I could charge it in the car when I'm driving. And thinking that I could plug the same USB cable that I've been successfully using on my PC into the wall outlet charger, I discovered something baffling.
Belkin's chargers (car and home) only seem to work with the USB cable they supplied (don't know why they only supply one cable and two places to plug it, though). Not being an electrical engineer, I can only guess that not all USB cables are created equal. And perhaps this is part of the problem people like you are having getting their players to charge sufficiently to display the screen.
I hope that someone more qualified (that is, more knowledgeable) can shed some light on this subject. What combination of USB port and cable is required to work with Creative players? Are different cables wired differently (like some cat-5 or modem cables are "crossover" and some aren't)?
