Zen Xtra Media Explo

<SPAN>I know I must be doing something wrong but I can't seem to figure out what it is or how to correct it.<SPAN> I upgraded my Nomad Zen Xtra to the PlaysForSure firmware and am trying to use the new organizer but I?m finding it to be very cumbersome and not overly user friendly.<SPAN> Under the new version, when I go to Windows Explorer and click on the Music Library folder and then open the Music folder, all the tracks are in folders created by the artist's name with a subfolder created by the CD name.<SPAN> Is it possible to change the view to where I can see everything grouped by a particular CD and not by the artist who created the track?<SPAN> Is it possible to open all the folders at once?<SPAN> According to the help files, I should be able to view it this way but mine is not displayed that way and no indication is given as to how to change the view.<SPAN>
<SPAN>I just ripped a number of compilation CD?s and am finding this to be totally confusing as to what went in what CD.<SPAN> Creating play lists is so awkward I don?t even attempt it.<SPAN> If I were to be looking for a particular track, I have to open each folder individually.<SPAN> I have over 3000 tunes loaded.<SPAN> Under the old system, everything was visible and I could click on columns to re-order/group the tracks.<SPAN>
<SPAN>As a last resort, can I ?downgrade? back to the old system?
<SPAN>

no, you can't downgrade.
but try winamp 5.2.

  • Zen Xtra Media Explorer questions..H

I have a Zen Xtra mp3 player, and as of right now I use the Zen Xtra Media Explorer to import media and rip cds and what not. The question I have is, why I cant put folders into other folders. Sometimes the folder of a cd wont go into the folder of the artist which has other cds. I want to make everythin neater, and combine folders so its all artist folders containin the folders of the cds. On my mp3 player it always comes up right and organized. Its just in the 'organize media' option that its like that. And yes all the ID tags and all of that are the same. I dont know what to do, of if i need another program or somethin. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

    bump!

  • Experiencing some problems after updating Zen Micro Media Explo

I downloaded this update: Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB) (3 Jul 05)
And now the Create a new playlist in device option is not available.
Also, when I click Organize Music In Device, the following message comes up (but it still works ok, just a bit worried about the error message): Windows cannot find 'C:Program Files\Creative\Creative Zen Micro\Zen Micro Media Explorer\CTJBPlay.exe' etc...
    What's wrong?
Answers to both questions would be greatly appreciated.

    Try these few things.....
    - Connect ur micro before u insert the CD
2 - Try reinstalling the program, which should normally do the trick
3 - Update your firmware. (not sure if that will help)
4 - Try to rip cds that are only copyrighted (rip only original cds that u get in stores)

  • Updated Zen Micro Media Explo

I've just updated to the newer zen micro media explorer, so that I could use it with my newly updated firmware. But now I find the explorer missing alot of stuff that was there in the old one? What happened to the neat sorting by artist/genre/album boxes to the left? Right now it just displays the list of mp3s as files, how am I suppose to edit and reorganize my music?
    Someone help?
    Thanx

jasonchewy wrote:mm...well for some reason my mediasource doesn't detect my player anymore for some reason.... I have no way to change the genre and stuff now....well...except if I go into the tag and change them manually...then put htem in...
For MediaSource to detect your PlaysForSure firmware Zen Micro, you have to download and install "Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)". However, it will not have the Genre/Artist/Album windows. That is the nature of PlaysForSure firmware whereby the track listing is by directories.

  • [MICRO] Zen Micro Media Explo

When i try to transfer music files with Zen Micro Media Explorer (with the "import music" function) to my Zen Micro, it always says the tranfer is failed. But the player IS recognized by the program.
Also i know it is not my usb-cable or the files i try to transfer, because when i try it with WMP0 it works fine. As i think WMP0 is not as convenient as Zen Micro Media Explorer, i would like to fix it. Anyone has an idea? (Creative MediaSource works fine too)

Downgrade to firmware version .0.03 and uninstall any software you have and start from the CD. Then re-install the Zen Media Explorer from CD. It should be fine.
You could also download the update for the Zen Media Explorer with firmwares that have PlayForSure technology. Updates are here

  • Help w/ Zen V Media Explo

    HELP?
With my Zen Micro (purchased 2 years ago), I could identify parts of source directory path as Album/Artist/Genre using the Zen Micro Media Explorer.
I purchased 2 Zen V: one for my wife and one for my daughter.
The Zen V Media Explorer is very basic/simple. It appears to lack this feature.
Once I select the folders from the various Artists/albums from my PC,
it just transfers them. It does not give me a page to set up as does the Zen Micro Media Explorer.
Is this by design (lacking features)?
How do i identify the Artist/Album in the folder path for each song being transferred over on the Zen V?
P.S. Is Zen V the same as Zen Vision?
    Is this the correct forum?
i.e. is the Zen V an mp3 player or a media player?
    Thanks!

I just got a Zen V plus 2 gig for Christmas. YIPPE!
I installed the disc on the admin. account for this computer so it should work on the all of the account.
I can not use the admin. account, so I use a different one.
Every time I plug in my Zen V Plus, it[the Zen V media Explorer]always says it is not connected and when I try to close the problem, I always get the 'end now' button and it malfunctions.[and yes, i followed the instructions and all]
When I got to Computer-->Portable Devices, there is my Zen V plus, and from there I can manually drag and drop my photos and music into there, and it shows up in my Zen V Plus. And when i unplug it, my music is on
    BUT HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
I chose the zen v PLUS over just the zen v because it had video, and i need the Zen V Media Explorer to convert my videos, so I can put them on my Zen V Plus. I can not drag and drop them, because they are not converted to fit the Zen V even though they are AVI videos.
I need to know how to get the Explorer to recognize my Zen V Plus just as my computer already does.
I also need it to work, and not make the end down function to show. It really ruins the whole point of getting the Zen V plus. :'(
I don't know if this helps you: I have Windows Vista.
Ps. i had a zen v before on a windows XP and explorer worked fine. I do not have both of this items anymore.

  • Zen Micro - Problems with Zen Micro Media Explo

I've successfully installed the Zen Media Explorer and Media Source. I've used Zen Media explorer at work just fine but seem to be missing something on my home desktop. Everything in Media Explorer seems to work except for the "Rip Audio CD Tracks to Device" mode. When I select this feature in the main menu screen, it says insert audio cd in dri've, which I do. Then it says cd detected...but then all of the sudden I get a new dialog box that says "Error: Unable to load database component. The program will now exit." Has anyone else seen this? This is quite annoying as I have it working just fine at work and I think this is the most seamless method of getting cds tracks onto my micro....
Thanks for any help you can provide...

  • Viewing Files In Zen Vision Media Explo

    Quick question:
When I go to 'Browse Media' and then 'Music' I get a list of my folders (individual albums) and if I then click on one of them I can view the tracks.
Problem is that the view always alphabetically orders the tracks and I have to click on the 'track number' bar to put them in track order.
Is there a way to set the default view to be in track order?Message Edited by Dilligaf on 04-0-200707:39 PM

  • Zen Micro not recognised using zen micro media explo

Hi?get the error "device not connected" when I use the above facility, even though IT IS plugged in with the USB cable?Player is recognised in Windows Media Player. Any ideas ??Thanks??

The problem will be the same I would think because the issue is that the player is an older one, so WMP does not recognise it. Unless they change it in te full version, which is probably only a slim chance, you will still need to download the hotfix and the other update.
But if i were you i wait for the full version anyway, the Beta 2 is better but still far from perfect...

  • Zen Xtra won't appear in Creative MediaSource Organi

I've been using my 30 GB Jukebox for a couple years w/ no real problems except that I remember there being a problem w/ a USB port & I had to change something so that the Creative MediaSource Organizer software could recognize the mp3 player. Now I've bought a 60 GB Zen Xtra (same player, x2) & am having the same problem. I've upgraded everything & hate the new interface for transfering files... most of the time the program just freezes. I'd like to be able to use the same Creative software I was using before, but it doesn't recognize the new device. If anyone knows what I'm talking about or how I can fix it, I'd rather not have to call?Customer Service?again for $3.

I'm just giving this topic a bump. I've upgraded to Creative MediaSource Organizer v 3.30.2, but it won't recognize either of my mp3 players when I plug them in. I'm able to use the Zen Xtra Media Explorer, but?most of the time it just freezes up. I'd like to be able to use the software I'm familiar w/, so if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. I seem to remember having a similar problem when I first purchased my 30 GB Zen Xtra.

  • Help with Zen Xtra not connect

    Hi,
I have read all of the FAQs and posts reguarding this problem and I just can't seem to get this to work. I have a Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40GB mp3 player. I downloaded and installed the playsforsure firmware yesterday so the mp3 player would be compatible with my Xbox 360. I moved all of my songs from the player to the Creative Mediasource PC music library before the install (sadly, I lost all of the music the Zen cam with). Well, after I installed this firmware, and I plug the Zen Xtra into the computer with the USB cable, it doesn't register that it is connected. For example, when I open the Creative Mediasource PC music library it doesnt have the Zen Xtra listed like it used to, so I cannot put any files back onto the mp3 player, also the Nomad explorer has the Zen listed as "not connected" and same with the Zen Xtra Media Explorer. I then downloaded a new playsforsure plugin for Creative media source and the most updated driver. Still noting... I tried going into device manager, it recognizes the portable media device without any problem, so its not the USB or the computer, its that its not connecting with Creative Media Source, Nomad Explorer or Zen Xtra Media Explorer. I clicked the driver, followed all those steps that were listed in one of the posts on this forum and installed the MTP device. It actually connected this time and I started moving my music back onto the player. Well, I accidently "x'ed" out the program and I went to Creative Media Source again but its not registering the device again. I retried instaling the MTP device again and it didn't work this time. I restarted the computer and tried again but I cannot get this Zen connected anymore. I have never, ever had a problem like this before with my Zen until I got this firmware. Please, if anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please help. Thanks.
    --Frank

I believe you are not holding it down long enough----- I think in the manual it says to hold it down until rescue mode comes up..... it took a long tome for mine to come up when i did it
If holding it longer doesnt help, thats all i got
