ZenMicroPhoto 8gWouldn't hold charge.Got new battery.Still didn't wk.Now it's dead. =

Dearest Creative Gooroo; Here's my outcry..
My battery was not charging for some reason, so I bought a new one. I kept the mp3 off but charging (from the wall charger) until the new battery arri'ved. The new battery arri'ved and it still didn?t hold a charge. At one point you could see it read ?charging? then it stopped all together, now it'ss back to not holding a charge.. During the time it had a only a few depressing bars of life, I could only operate it ( mp3) while I was connected to my pc (yahoo music jukebox? or creative media source organizer via-usb) but as soon as I disconnected from ?life support? it would shut ?off automatically. Anyway, now it'ss completely dead. Nothing works on it and I?m missing my tunes badly. I can't figure out what to do. I gave up charging it back and forth between accessories and would very much love to just dissect it about now, BUT? I?m holding myself back! =)
Note: Both the battery and the wall charger are both creative.
Any advice will be extremely gratified.
Thanks my heroes!?
MEL

A Million Thanks,

• Got new battery, still won't turn on

Laptop wasn't turning on, figured it was the battery so go a replacement, put that in and it turned on. When I came back to the computer, it was already off again and now it's not turning on. Tried taking the battery out, unplugging the AC and holding button down for 15/20 seconds and every variation. Any more ideas?

Hi @Jvbacha89 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and getting a blank screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Here is a link to computer won't start for Windows 8. Did you replace any of the hardware?
Have you tried a different walloutlet or a borrowing a different AC adapter?
Please let me know how this goes.

• New charger or new battery?

How do I know if I need a new charger or new battery? When my MacBook Pro is plugged in, it provides power but says (not charging) at the top. I do think my computer is losing charge A LOT faster than it used to. There are also times recently that the computer just goes into sleep mode in the middle of me working on something. Not sure if that's related.... TIA for any help!

I have an older Ipod classic it plays on everything i have . Recently replaced the battery because it would not take charg .After new battery it plays through several defferent devices but it will not CHARG !!! HELP!!!!

Not Charge
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

No, but you can save a photo on FaceBook.
Try downloading/saving the video from FaceBook on your computer. If successful, after doing so you can transfer the video to your iPhone along with any photos on your computer or alone. They transfer won't be in the Camera Roll, it will be in your iPhone's Photo Library.

• New battery & still won't hold a charge

Hi All:
I have a 6th Gen 120GB silver Classic. A few weeks ago the battery started to totally drain in a few hours' time. I had a new battery installed a few days ago, with no change.
I've done a few soft resets to no effect. The tech who replaced the battery says it could be the charging port, but it stays charged while connected to my machine or through the wall charger, so I doubt that's the culprit. I'm starting to think my only recourse is a restore, which is something I want to avoid if at all possible--I have everything backed up, but it's still going to take me a few weeks to reload my library
So, has anyone had this problem, and how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance!!

Presumably, there is a warranty on the new battery. Perhaps you should talk again to whoever changed it.

• Powerbook will not charge my new battery

I have a 15" Powerbook 1.5 w/ a 1.5Ghz processor. I just bought a brand new battery and it will not charge. here are the facts:
- when i purchased the new battery and installed it, it had a 23% charge.
- the battery will not charge, after a week the battery is down to 19%( I keep it pluged in all the time cause I do not want it to completely drain)
- I have reset the power manager unit
- I have past the hardware system test( the hardeware test disc that comes with the computer)

- I love Apple but they are really getting on my nerves, I have had top send back 2 ipods(one they actually had the balls to charge me for shipping) because of battery issues( the battery would only hold a charge for 20 minutes)
MESSAGE TO APPLE!!! either lower you price or build your products in the USA so we can get quality product. Having to send a computer to you for repair is not the answer, you owe your users more than that for the price you charge.
sincerly,

My wife bought me a new powerbook for christmas and I got it Jan 3rd 06.
Take it out of the box and set it up. Battery doesn't charge! won't Charge and apparently is a placebo! 2000.00 dollars, and counting. Imagine buying a new car without a battery under the hood! What the is going on??? I Go down to the apple retail store and they have NO 15" power books and no batteries because this is a big problem. They have been authorized to just swap out the computer, and or swap the battery. They are out of both till who knows when, (7 to 10 days ).! On the eve of the MAC WORLD CONFRENCE I am feeling sick about the whole IDEA that these power books were all sent out like this Apple should get them back before they are sent to consumers!! Apple and the reputation they have of being HIGH qaulity and RELIABLE is in trouble. How many class action law suites, POOR MERCHANDISE, ( I SENT BACK A NANO- CRACKED SCREEN and A PHOTO ipod that was purchased last Christmas- 400.00 dollar and a bum battery) Lets not forget the original ipod
LAW SUITE AND ALL, I had one sorry to admit. Qaulity is going down with Qaunity. I'm afraid to see what happens with the NEW intel Computers. It could just get worse. I just wanted to go wireless and I don't have a battery to
do that. So as I watch the mac confrence on my new 2000.00doller computer and am tethered to an Electical out let while getting stream from my new base station, I will certainly be thinking about how APPLE claims their stuff ALWAYS works better than a widows machine.... or does it really?

• X over battery icon, got new battery yesterday still won't go away

I brought my MacBook into the apple store yesterday because an X had shown up on my battery icon. They gave me a new battery because the old one had expanded and everything seemed to be working fine. This morning, I wake my computer up and the X is back over the battery and it says "no batteries available"--the same message that I was getting before. It works both plugged in a not, when I unplug the adapter, it still has the X and says no batteries available but also says power source: battery (talk about identity crisis!). I tried resetting the SMC and PRAM but the X is still there. After resetting the SMC, it says that it is charging the battery which has a 0% charge for about a minute before the X comes back. When you press the button on the battery, all of the lights light up.
What do I do?? Of course, my apple care expired literally a week ago so I'm SOL if there's anything major wrong.

Hello Sue,
Congratulations on your new iPhone 5c, and thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with Voice Memos.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhone:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the Voice Memos app, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhone:

• Not starting up - just got new battery

As of right now, my computer seems to be on, since I can turn the cap lock key on and off by the light of green. But the screen is blank, and the bottom slowly gets very warm. When it gets hot I just press the power button again and let it die in peace.
I started noticing problems yesterday when I shut my computer it would have to be turned on again, and some times it forgot my wireless password when it came back to life, or it was December, 1969.
All these problems started after I got my new battery from apple, turns out, who knows when, my orginal battery was recalled, and la de da, there was an exchange program. I got my battery on friday, and problems started on monday.
I got it kick started by pressing a series of buttons, alt, apple, shift and power which got it to make noises vs a little fan sound. Now the fan sound stays on for a bit as it gets warm. By recomendations of the boyfriend, it also kicks to life for T and power button, but still no screen.
at this point, I have accepted that I have had this computer for far too long and its about time for it to die.
SO, its on. I think, but blank screen and no start up sounds, just some wooshes and the cap lock key shows green. I get back to civilization on friday, currently in rural WI. I would like to keep it in its stupor state where it seems hopefull we can still firewall into it and collect my life.

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
When you get a new battery, normally you charge it all the way, then drain it, to condition the battery. You do this once or twice. Then you're all set with the battery.
When you think the system may be turned on, if you look real closely at the screen, can you see anything very faintly on the screen? Look carefully.
It sounds like you may several things going on. When you get back to civilization, your best bet may be to go to the local Apple shop, and see what the Genius suggests. If he says you need a new logic board, you'll want it shipped to the Apple depot, which will cost around $350, assuming the case isn't banged up. If they replace the logic board in the store it will cost over double that.

• Just got new battery

Just got this battery a few weeks ago after my original one wouldnt hold a charge anymore. When the battery is not in the computer, the lights are all on but when installed in the computer it reads as this:
Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 0
Fully charged: No
Charging: Yes
Full charge capacity (mAh): 1
Health Information:
Cycle count: 40
Condition: Check Battery
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 280
Voltage (mV): 12594
Defective battery or something with my computer?

a minute after posting the charge read full and the adapter is green but when disconnected the computer goes into sleep mode. Why does my battery only have 1 mAh charge capacity?

• 5G video, Replaced new battery, still wont charge, here's what ive done

My english isnt very well, hope u understand most of it. If you are impatient with my story you could just scroll down to the bottom,
Ok, so, my 60gb 5g ipod video is about 2yrs old. The drain battery thing starts happening a year ago.
With a full charge(as the screen said), once it's unplug from power source, it dies within 1 mins. so, i bought a new battery on ebay(hang on dont say the battery is bad, keep reading) put it in. That slightly improved, with makes it play for about 2hrs with a full charge. Not long after the replacement of this new battery, the ipod starts draining, and die quick again.
I decided to give it one more chance, and got a more expensive battery from ebay again.
after i replaced the battery, plug it into charge, it already says fully charged. At first i thought maybe it comes charged. so i unplug it. but the battery meter reads low, with like maybe 5% left.
That's when i realize, the problem is not the battery but the ipod.
I've read hundreds and hundreds of thread online. doesn't really help. I did all those reset
, disk mode and restore. The ipod still thinks the battery is charged and wont let juice pass on to the battery. At last, I've found a 13.1.2.1 firmware, and downgraded it from a 1.3, and see how it goes. Sadly, nothing changed.
@@@@@@@@@@ IF you are impatient, JUST read this part @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
I took the NEW battery out, found a 3.7v charger, and charge it externally / manually.
put it back in, the battery meter( the one of right top corner, while unplug) reads a 80% charge)
so, this proves that the battery is 100% GOOD ! when i plug it in, the ipod still thinks the battery is charged and wont charge it.
Here's my conclusion. There's a problem with the motherboard/mainboard, either the chip that prohibits battery from over charging is out, or there is something wrong with the socket.
My solution(which I haven't done yet) is drill a hole on the back plate close the the battery location, Charge it from the outside, with wires directly connect to the battery(if u rip those plastic tape carefully, u would see the +/- connectors).
Cost: 3.7v charged, should be less than $15 or just find a unused cell phone charged.
or just mod your ipod wall charged.
Connectors between the wires to the battery and the external charger could be find it
Wal-mart, Ace, and many other store. for Wal-Mart they are usually in the Auto section. Should be around $5
So, the whole fix for mine is just $10, since i mod my own ipod charged. and the $5 tips at a auto shop for the guy that drill the hole for me.
This saves me $90 from buying a used 60gb ipod from ebay, and around $300-$400 from a new one at apple.
After all, I post this because i dislike the way apple treat their costumers, they simply wants you to buy a new one instead of helping you. I've read lots and lots of stories about how people are unhappy, upset and even angry with apple. I'm one of the millions.

by the way, replacing the motherboard cost about $55 if u do it yourself, which i would rather buy a new one if thats the case.
and sorry that i didnt do a proof reading, of which lots of error in my post.

• Got a new battery, STILL doesn't last long!

i got a new battery 3 days ago from the mac store because my old one lasted only 30 minutes. i charged it up fully, and then let it run down all the way, and i only get about 2:22 battery life now. when i was letting the battery drain, i had at least 3 or more hours of battery life. apple advertises 5 hours of life...is this normal for a brand new battery?

I get around 4 hours with fairly minimal activity (web surfing, listening to iTunes, nothing too major in Aperture, etc.), with about half to 3/4 screen brightness. I definitely notice that the time left estimates will drop when Aperture is crunching on something (like making previews and thumbnails out of newly imported images), or the optical drive is spun up. I'm curious to see how long it'll last with a DVD movie in the drive, since I'll be on a plane here next week and would like to watch a movie.
Anyway, it's certainly better than the crappy Sony battery it came with, which was only at 33% health and gave me about an hour and a half of battery life before dying. Apple sent me a new battery which was made by SMP and it works much better.

I'm having the same problem. I got my battery replaced about 2 months ago because my Macbook Pro (got it in 2008) would keep shutting down after a minute or two of being unplugged, so I figured the battery was on the verge of death. Last night I noticed that when I had it unplugged the battery life was wavering between 1% and 2%. I plugged it in and it says "Not Charging". It was fine a few days ago, showing me a life remaining time.

• Z10 will not charge & with new Battery will not turn on

I have have had my Z10 about a month now, I am gernerally happy with it as a work phone which is similar to my private Iphone5. Unfortunately the Battry life has been reducing on a weekly basis to around 4 hrs between charges. Now it is dead and will not wake up, so I bought a new Battery, now it blinks once the three times but will not turn on.
Any ideas ? The OS is the latest on the Blackberry site, but as I can turn the phone on I can't be more specific.

Hello,
From your description, if your charger is "known good" (e.g., it can charge other devices), then one can only deduce that something (hardware) inside the BB related to passing power from the charger to the battery has broken. Or that something passing power from the battery to the device has broken.
Regardless, if your charger is 100% fine, then it sounds like a hardware problem for which no amount of OS/software level fixes nor internet-distance diagnostics can be of much value.
I recommend you seek formal support via your official warranty channel. Normally, that starts with your original place of purchase or an authorized service center -- it varies by region.
