ZENworks 6.5 Installing/Uninstalling Applications

Hello,
I'm a newbie to ZENworks 6.5 and wanted to know how to remove delivered
applications via ZENworks, if possible. I've managed to deliver apps via
an application object and successfully install them. I also know that
it's possible to manually remove them from each workstation via remote
control, or at the local machine. My question is; is there a way to
remove an app remotely (w/o remote control) by simply unchecking a check
box which will retract the application, or by creating a policy that
will remove it?
Thanks in Advance
-Joe

I tried that, but didn't work. Once unassociated, my app disappared from
the App Explorer and had to manually uninstall it from the workstation.
Do I have to create a workstation package with it as well?
Thanks in Advance,

  • Installing/uninstalling application

i hope i am not asking some stupid question, but there are a few burning question in my chest and i can't find answer in Mac Help.I am completely new to Mac and its architecture. I just owned one for a few days and I am loving it :P. I am used to be a window user.
1.I noticed that installing application seems to be a bit different than installing stuff on windows. Sometimes when i open an installer, it opens up like a "virtual drive" on my desk and after the installation it remains. What is it for?? can i delete it afterwards?
2.I cant seem to be able to choose which directory i want to install my application. i noticed in theory, all software should be placed under "Application". i am not fussy abt when applications are put, but i want to understand how it works
    3. I noticed some installers like MSN Messenger, Real Player. The installer itself with become an application launcher itself after the installation and they won't appear under "Application". it is ok if i drag it under "Application" afterwards? or i should install these kind of program inside "Application" at the first place?
    4. and finally..... how do i uninstall program?? i know mac is really user friendly and intuitive, but I feel unsure if i can just drag the application inside the trash can and it will be properly uninstalled.
sorry for asking some many question in a thread
if u guys can feed me all kind of knowledge relating this subject, that will be much appreciated.
    many thanks

1- That is a disk image file, the format most apps are when downloaded from the internet and has .dmg as the suffix. When you double click it puts what the computer sees as a hard drive on your desktop. Just open it and drag the app to your applications folder then trash the hard drive. If there are other files with the app you can hold down the option key and copy the whole hard drive over and it will create a folder with everything in it.
2- From a dmg file you can drag it anywhere you want. Theoretically you can place an app anywhere you want but some, especially Apple apps, need to be in the apps folder for proper updating. I've found it's just easier and neater all the way around to put apps in the Applications folder instead of placing them all over the hard drive and forgetting where they are.
3- Some apps are more complicated and require an installer. However a window will open up and give you a choice of what folder to put it in, most will put it in the Applications folder by default and you have to change it to put it somewhere else. If you mean the application installer it doesn't matter where that is when you double click to install. I have a separate folder where I store these for later use if I ever need to install the app again. Some have what looks like an orange box and will have .pkg as the suffice. This is a package format, just double click and it will act like and installer.
If an app gets installed outside of the Applications folder there is no problem with dragging to there if you want.
4- Most you can just drag to the trash. It will leave a file or two elsewhere on your hard drive but too small to worry about. If the app had an installer it should also have an uninstaller and you should use it. You can also check the apps web site and they will often tell you where their files have been installed to delete.
There are also apps that get rid of apps, I use AppZapper:
    http://appzapper.com/
Just drag an app to the AppZapper window and it will find all the little parts of the app that got installed elsewhere, show them to you and you choose to delete them. If you don't know what something is and are scared to delete it just click the check box off.
Or there's the old fashion way, get EasyFind:
    http://www.devon-technologies.com/download/
It's free and you can search the whole hard drive for all parts of an app. You can't use Spotlight because it does not search in many system folders where all the apps pieces reside. Then just trash them.

  • Server manager hangs on collecting data, i can't install/uninstall any applications, mmc works on random, no errors in any logs

Hi, ive been searching around for for 4-5 hours on google and here and I'm turning a bit desperate
I rebooted the server today, and after that it just hangs on collecting data, mmc stuff works on random, I got evenviewer open, and checked system and application, but it only showed exchange alerts etc, according to itself, everything is fine, which is it not, I can't goto control panel, can't install/uinstall software, cant run windows update, can't connect via RDP etc.
I tried misc solutions I found, like this
    1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter
    2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable All third party Services.
    3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items
    4. Click OK and choose Restart
but msconfig just hangs when I click OK.
    server is a DL380G5 with 64 bit

    Hi,
First I would like to confirm the following points:
    1.    Had any changes been made on the computer before the issue began to occur, such as an installation or upgrade?
    2.    Does any error message appear or does it just hang when opening Control Panel, install/uninstall software, run Windows Update, connect RDP?
    3.    Have you installed any anti-virus programs on the computer?
First let’s delete the Server Manager cache files in C:\Windows\System32\ServerManager\Cache.
If it still hangs, I suggest booting into Safe Mode.
Please restart the computer, keep pressing F8 and enter Safe Mode.
Does the hanging issue also occur in Safe Mode? If not, let’s try the steps below in Safe Mode again:
    1. Click Start->Run->type msconfig and press Enter.
    2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable All third party Services.
    3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items.
    4. Click OK and choose Restart.
What’s the result in Normal Mode now?
If the issue persists, please boot into Safe Mode and run your anti-virus programs perform a complete virus scan.
If the issue still occurs after scanning for viruses, please send the System Inforamtion to me for further research:
    1. Press Start, type in msinfo32 in the Start Search bar and then press Enter.
    2. Choose Save from the File menu and save it as an NFO file.
    3. Find the file, right-click on this file, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".
    4. Upload the compressed file to me from the following site:

  • How to uninstall applications I installed from Application store?

Can anybody show me how to uninstall applications I installed from Application store?
I mean I want to remove the applications completely from my iphone, not just hide the icons.

    Page 127 of the manual:
"You can delete applications you’ve installed from the App Store. If you delete an
application, data associated with the application will no longer be available to iPhone,
even if you reinstall the application.
You can reinstall any application and any associated data from your iTunes library
as long as you backed up the application by syncing to your computer. If you try to
delete an application that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.
    Delete an App Store application:
1 Touch and hold any application icon on the Home screen until the icons start to
    wiggle.
2 Tap the “x” in the corner of the application you want to delete.
3 Tap Delete, then press the Home button to save your arrangement."

  • PremierePro uninstalled, but saying installed in Application Manager?

Had a Trail version of Adobe PP installed on Mac OS X 10.6.8, downloaded the new Application manager for Creative Cloud, opened Pp and said it was still a trial version, so uninstalled.
After Re-openning the Application manager to re-download a new PP, it is still saying "installed", with no option to open or do anything. Do I need to re-install the application manager? If yes, how? Please help
    Regards
    Nat

    Hello,
I used the uninstaller location within the application folder.
I think I have solved this. I ended up going back to the beginging and re-downloading the trail from the website. Once installed the old fashion way, I signed in as a subscriber when asked for registration and I was back up and running.
Would be good to have Application Manager know when the software has been uninstalled, so you can re-click the install button or have some options?
Thanks for getting back to me.

  • Silently uninstall applications installed with Exceptions Deployment tool

How are we supposed to uninstall applications installed via the Exceptions Deployment tool?
At the time of writing this I can only see listed install as a supported workflow.
It would be a great help if we could have an uninstall workflow too.
Any suggestions on how to work round this also appreciated.

  • How to install Adobe Application Manager?

How to install Adobe Application Manager? I downloaded it, but can't install.
Just purchased the CC for photographers.  Have been using Photoshop since version 3.
I have been studying your support docs for several days and have no business messing around with something called, .gz files and installation logs. Totally unsuccessful "Updating" my CS6 or CS6 bridge or Extension Manager or the Adobe Support Advisor by the CC Desktop.
Have no Photoshop CS6 because I followed your CC support instructions.
Uninstalled my CS6 today so I can finish a job tomorrow.  Bad decision on my part because I can't reinstall it and am unable to correct
    this problem.
I was able to use CC to update LR, but am absolutely too afraid to touch it now.
I have been waiting inline for Chat also, but the numbers ahead of me are going up.
If someone in this Community forum can help me, it would be fabulous.
    Thanks very much.

    Uninstalled Creative Cloud.
Downloaded it again - 4th time.
Deleted a AAMDetect file from the Library/Internet Plug-ins
Downloaded and installed Adobe App Manager and an icon for it is on my Desktop
    Installed Creative Cloud.
    OK.
Now how do get my Photoshop CS6 back before I download Photoshop CC?
CS6 is not listed in the available Apps in the CC Desktop.
Support wait time right now is 2 hours by phone.
After sitting on Chat yesterday only to see the people "waiting ahead of me" go from 17 to 18, I gave up.
    Please advise.
    Thanks again.

  • How to uninstall applications in SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
We have installed following applications using "Applications" mode of SCCM 2012 R2.
    XML Notepad
    Notepad++
    Adobe Reader XI
How do we uninstall these applications from clients using SCCM 2012 R2? Do we create deployment type for each and uninstall?

You can configure an install and uninstall command line for each deployment type. Then there are 'install' and 'uninstall' deployments. Uninstall deployments can be used to uninstall software. Keep in mind that an install deployments wins over an uninstall
deployment if both are deployed to the same machine.

  • HT1926 My itunes won't open because it says "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem" Can someone help? I don't want to delete it altogether due to needing the phone backup

I was given notification to upload the latest version of itunes recently, so I clicked installed. However it has since corrupted my itunes and I get the error message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
In poor timing, I have also accidently damaged my phone and have a new one to restore it to an old back up.
It is because of this I am reluctant to completely delete itunes off my computer and start again for fear of losing my back ups.
Is there another way to fix iTunes so I can open it again?
    Thanks

  • Preventing help files being added to start menu after installing an application in windows 8.1 enterprise

    Hi Guys
when we install an Application in windows 8 family, we see that in addition of Application executable file, user manuals (.chm) and PDF & other files related to that App are added to start menu (when we click down Arrow which shows all programs) and
so the start menu gets quit messy.
is there any settings to make only applications executable file be added to start menu & prevent other types of files related to that App being added here?
    thanks in advanced

    Hi John,
This issue is related to the programs package we installed.
    • An installation package contains all of the information that the Windows Installer requires to install or uninstall an application or product and to run the setup user interface.
    • The developer can specify installation context, and based on these properties, Windows Installer automatically redirects the values of folder properties and registrations to locations.
    • The shortcut is added to the profile by these context
We could right click these file and could find out they are the shortcut mentioned above.
For more information about Windows Installer, please refer to the following article.

  • How do I uninstall applications with a MacBook Pro?

Hai, I need help finding out how to uninstall applications with a MacBook Pro?
-I just got this computer 5-6 days ago and I hardly know anything about it. (AS expected from a new user to a Mac computer. ) Everything is kind of confusing to me especially with unziping and ziping files.
-I have researched trying to find out ways to uninstall with a Mac but everyone seems to have a different way to uninstall. And I really don't want to do something to mess up my new computer while trying to find out how to uninstall applications. (These computers are "expensive" and are non-returnable.)
If anyone can answer my question that would be so great and I would surely appreciate you!
    Thank you, CreeSuki.
OH, and if needed I am running on operating system "Lion" (Rawrrrr). And I am trying to uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 in general.
    Thank you!

The basic way to uninstall an app is just trash it.  But to get (most, sometimes all) of its associated data files, for example, preferences (usually .plist files in ~/Library/Preferences -- ~ is your home directory) you either have to know what to look for or try to use one of the 3rd party generic uninstallers.  Here's a (partial?) list of potential uninstallers:
    Amnesia
    AppCleaner
    AppDelete
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    iTrash
    TrahsMe
Go to www.macupdate.com and search for them.
Note, there is no guarantee these uninstallers will find all the potential stuff an app can install but even if it misses stuff no harm is done other than wasting a little disk space.
Oh, almost forgot.  Many apps that come with their own installers sometimes provide their own uninstallers to uninstall themselves.  Use those if they are provided instead of one of the generic uninstallers.
