Zenworks 7 Desktop Management on NLSBS9?

We are reviewing some Novell products for intern use. Novell Linux Small
Business Suite 9 seems to fit our needs perfectly. Now we're going to
verify Zenworks 7 also and we're wondering if we can install it on NLSBS9.
System requirements says SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 SP1 or Novell
Open Enterprise Server (Linux) 1.0 is needed if you want to use Desktop
Management Services. NLSBS is based on SLES9, so is it possible to
install Zenworks 7? Novell documentation wasn't clear about it, neither
Zen7 nor NLSBS docs.

    Hello,
I tried to install Zenworks 7 sp1 Desktop Management on a Windows 2008 server running Edirectory 8.8 sp5, but I got an error message saying that the OS is not suppported.
Is there anyway to install this on a Windows 2008 server ?
I accidently posted this thread under "Imaging" as well.

    Ye,
same answer as in the imaging forum - you need ZCM 10

  • Desktop management and Remote access on OES 2 SP1?

I am preparing a migration of several servers from NW 65. SP6 to OES 2 SP1 Linux. One of those servers has ZENworks 7 Desktop Management/Middle tier server installed.
I am seeing statements in the documentation which make me wonder.... We use Desktop Management mostly for remote access, only now and then for inventory. I can live with the idea of doing a fresh install of ZENworks 7 desktop management following migration, and then importing the workstations anew.
I am planning on upgrading to ZENworks 10 later in the year. However, under the circumstances I am wondering if the migration might be a good time to jump to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management? I understand that Console1 goes away(?) but I do not understand what is to take the place of Console1.
Do any of you have experience with making that leap? What are the major considerations I should be looking at?

  • Zenworks for Windows 7 desktop management

    Hi there,
I have a Novell Engineer coming in to do my install my Novell Open Enterprise file server in a few days. He told me to download Zenworks so it can be installed afterwards. Though when I looked, I see a version 7 and 10 for Zenworks. Though version 10 doesn't seem to do with desktop management?
Our old file server is running version 4 of Zenworks, and along with our file server upgrade we are planning to move our workstations to Windows 7.
Is version 7 of Zenworks the latest version that I will need for desktop management and enforcing various desktop policies on Windows 7 pc's?
I also would like to use Zenworks imaging for cloning, does version 7 (or whichever one is current) support Windows 7 imaging?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the info. So will ZCM 10 do the similar desktop management and imaging that Zen7 and my older version 4 does? Just do it in a different way?

  • Zenworks Desktop Management for Windows 7

    Hello,
We are trying to figure out what is the solution for Windows 7. We are currently in a Novell environment (I believe Zenworks 7). Being unfamiliar with the Zenworks Desktop Management - can someone please explain the following to me:
We are trying to find the application launcher answer to deploying on Windows 7. Whenever I run the ZfDAgent.msi (7 agent/Zenworks Desktop Management) on a Windows 7 (Enterprise) machine, it says the following:
"The Remote Management Mirror Driver can only be installed on Windows 2000and Windows XP machines". Is there a new version of the Zenworks Desktop management software available/coming out for Windows 7?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Windows 7 is not supported on Zenworks for Desktops 7. You will need
to upgrade to Zeworks Configuration Management 10. I'm in the middle
of doing this myself right now.
    Regards,
    Ken
Thanks for the quick reply -- by chance have you ran across any white papers, webcasts, or documentation as to the desktop application features included with Zenworks Configuration Management 10? Such as how the application explorer/window are handled with this new version? I tried doing a search to no avail.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Netware zenworks desktop management 7 RCConsole MFC applicat

I am using Zen v7. I have found that when I remote into computers, open a DOS window, try to ping an IP, after I type a few characters into the DOS window, an Windows error pops up "RCConsole MFC application problem...." IT disconnects me from the remote control.
When I try to reconnect, i get a 1805: this app is currently being performed on the target machine and will not be available.
This seems to only happen on DOS windows and Green screen mainframe applications like WRQ Reflections.
Anyone have a fix for this. Searching Forums and Google have similar problems but no fixes.
    Thanks

I think this is a very old problem - I cannot find a TID reference at
the moment, but if I remember correctly, this happened because the
ZENworks agent was not installed. Do you have the ZENworks 6.5 agent
installed on the PC where you are launching ConsoleOne?

  • Install Errors-Zen 7 SP1 Desktop Management

I had a server die that used to do my Zen Imaging. I installed that server 4 years ago. I am trying to install it on a different NW6.5 SP7 server. It goes through the install process, but when it finishes, it has the errors listed below. Does anyone have some ideas how I can make this install correctly? I am primarily interested in imaging but I selected all desktop management components including inventory, etc. Thanks.

I seem to still be having trouble. I cannot find a imgserv.nlm on the server. I believe that is what allows me to see what images are sent and received at the server console. I am wondering if everything loaded. Is there a way to test my installation or is there certain nlm's that I should look for?

  • Desktop Management Agents Upgrade

    Hi,
Eventually in a few months I'll be upgrading our current student server at
the High School I work at from Netware 6 and Zenworks 4.01 ir6 to Netware
    6.5 and Zenworks 6.5.
Each of the computers connected to the student server have a Zen partition
installed for imaging purposes and all the up to date desktop management
    agents.
If I update from Zenworks 4 to Zenworks 6.5 without updating the Desktop
Management Agent to Zenworks 6.5, will the imaging, remote control, policy
packages, NDPS printing not work anyomre or will it all still work even
though the Zenworks version is 6.5 but all the computers have Desktop
Management Agents 4.01 ir6? I would like to update to Zenworks 6.5 and
slowly update the Desktop Management Agents(from Zen 4 Desktop Management
Agents to Zen 6.5 Desktop Management Agents) in each computer lab over
time, but if it's going to effect the imaging server policy, user policy
packages, remote control, NDPS printing etc... I'll have to plan the
    upgrade over the summer time.
    Thanks for your time!

  • Can not install Desktop Manager because of DEP.

    Good day BlackBerry users,
I've just got myself a BlackBerry Storm 1, and I'd like to install the desktop manager.
I've downloaded the install from the site and I tried to install it.
In the beginning it's going well, I start it, select my country... but then...
...When I've selected my country and I click next the install freezes and I get the DEP error.
I've looked around these forums, but I do not get any help.
    Could someone please help me?
I'm pretty annoyed by this error.
I hope to get a useful answer.
    Kind Regards,
    Jurriën van Rooij.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately no, like with most software installations, information has to be written to certain parts of the computer, such as the registry, and you can't just use a USB flash drive to run your applications.
This error is a Microsoft Windows error and occurs when Windows detects code running from a protected location.  At this point, Microsoft is your best bet for support as this is not a BlackBerry Desktop Manager error.

  • Desktop Manager 6.0 stopped working

For no apparent reason my DM version 6 stopped working yesterday.  I have de- and re-installed it and rebooted with no improvement.  When the application opens I see a partially loaded screen.  Very limited text and drop down arrows that do nothing, no menu options.  I do not get an error message.  I'm using Windows 7 and nothing about my laptop has changed since the last time I used the DM, except for I installed SKYPE.
What can I do if a re-install did not take care of it?
    Thanks,
    Carolyn
