Zenworks Adaptive Agent conflicting with ZENNTSRV.EXE?

Good morning - We are running Zenworks 2 on Windows 2000 (don't laugh) across several thousand workstations, with the Novell Client 4.90 SP2 upgraded from 4.83 SP3. That part of it works fine.
I have pushed out the Zenworks Adaptive Agent version 10.1.0.0 to all workstations to install upon login in order to get a handle on exactly what we have out there on machines that are not compatible with our new ZCM 10.1 installation.
Herein lies the rub - not every time, but with increasing coincidence we are seeing ZENNTSRV.EXE crashing with a The instruction at "0x77fcae88" referenced memory at "0xfffffffd". The memory could not be "read". message at the point at which the Zenworks Adaptive Agent starts commences its installation.
Once the Zenworks Adaptive Agent is installed, we have noticed the crash. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this, or what suggestions you guys could make to get around this at the user end.

Thanks for the reply. I did not make it clear that I intend to keep Zenworks 2 on our Windows 2000 machines and use the inventory-only agent on that platform.
The inventory-only agent from ZCM 10.1 is happy to coexist with Zenworks 2, but on a significant number of machines we find that this crash occurs. It does seem to be the 4.90 SP2 clients only.

  • Registration Key not available in Zenworks Adaptive Agent

No "registration key" is visible in Zenworks Adaptive Agent - Agent - Registration Keys.
The device is managed and imported in the correct folder on the server side and all assigned bundles and policies are applied and working. But i need a way to see which Registration Key a workstation is registered with, from within client. The keys is visible right after a new registration but if a new image is restored on the workstation everything is ok except the Registration Key. Any ideas ?

  • Zenworks Adaptive Agent 10.3.1.34138 Unregister itself

    Hi,
We have a little problem with the Zenworks Adaptive Agent 10.3.1.34138. After some time the link between the server and the client is severed... so the computer is not registered anymore... so we can't deploy any software or do some remote assistance... until we manually re-register the Zenworks Agent.
Anyone know if this is a policy issue ?
or is there a registry setting that we have to change to set it to never unregister ?
    Thank you !

I'm not aware of any known issues that would cause this to just happen.
If somebody Delete's the "Cache" folder on the PC or Delete's the Object
out of the ZCC, this can happen, but I'm not aware of any spontaneous
unregister issues. Also if devices are configured to remove themselves
after not talking for X days, a device powered off for a long time could
    have this issue.
I do have a couple scripts that can be placed in login scripts to help
    with some registration issues.
The 2nd one would be the one you want.
I would want the script encrypted somehow, since it does contain
credentials in clear text. AutoIt may help with that.

  • Installation InDesignCS6 failed: conflict with imageready.exe

I tried several times to install indesignCS6 via cloud.
during installation I get message that there is a conflict with imageready.exe, which should be closed.
In taskmanager there is no such file active.
Imageready is not installed on computer.
Only file with similar name I found is an exe that belongs to a backup-tool (not activated during installation process) called shadowprotect (by storagecraft).
    Any idea? Thanks for helping.

The issue isn't with the processes, its actually a service running so go to your `task manager` then click `services` then at the bottom there will be a button `services` with the admin icon. Click on that and then you will be brought into a window with all the services running, look for `StorageCraft ImageReady` and stop that service. Once done you will be able to run the install as normal.

  • How to Install ZENworks Adaptive Agent on Macintosh

This might sound ridiculous, but I am really new at Macintosh and cannot get the Agent to install. To be upfront, my ZCM is currently at version 11.2.0 and I realize it probably won't work on my new 10.9.1 Macintosh Maverick computer. Nevertheless, what is the proper method of installing the agent on the Mac?
I installed the latest Java, since I assumed the bundled Java wasn't supported on Maverick. I then downloaded the .bin and tried that...no luck. I then extracted the .bin on a Windows computer with 7zip and then I tried to run the .pkg on the Mac. It said it installed successfully, but I don't see any processes or anything related to ZENworks.
    Any info would be appreciated.

    Trkneller,
    > I realize it probably won't work on my new 10.9.1 Macintosh

it won't work, and it won't show anything. You'd need the 11.3 agent when that version's released, for Mavericks. At the moment, the only scenario that works is for the agent to be installed on an earlier version before being upgraded to Mavericks, sorry
But here's how you'd do it if it did work... http://www.novell.com/documentation/...a/bxmk87s.html

  • Application error with btvstack.exe

I installed the Win 8.x drivers for Kworld's USB ATSC hybrid TV stick (UB445-U2) and they caused errors in btvstack.exe and bitcasa.exe. • Zenworks Agent interferes with GroupWise & Messenger

We have been running GW 8 and IM 2.0.4 without issue for several months on XP machines along with Zenworks 7. We recently upgraded to Zenworks 10.2 and since then we have had numerous users complain that GroupWise and/or Messenger hangs on them. We find in these cases that there are a number of instances of GroupWise in the task manager and upon killing the processes, Messenger will begin working again and GroupWise can be started again without a problem. However, over time the same thing will occur again. The surefire thing we have found to prevent it from happening is to remove the Zenworks agent from the machine.
Anybody else having issues with the Zenworks 10.2 agent interfering with GroupWise and Messenger?

We have no issues with GW on workstations running ZCM10.2. We don't use messenger so maybe the messenger is causing this issue.

  • Adaptive agent install failure

    Hi,
I have been attempting to install the adaptive agent for Zen 11.2 onto workstations that have been removed from a microsoft domain.
The full install starts and everything is completes until it fails at 100% on setup.exe.
If the install is successful a reboot message is displayed.
This only seems to effect workstations that at some point have been connected to a ms domain. The novell client is installed without any errors.
The only thing I can think of is some group policy is being enforced(left behind) that effects the agent installation process.
    Any idea's?
    Thanx
    Julian

    Hi,
How did you install the agent? It seems like that you have installed the agent on the computer.
Please first remove the agent from the computer, and then run discovery wizard with operation console.

Normally you can just upgrade on top and it doesn't cause problems.
Since the install is a MSI, the rights will be elevated automatically.
The only time I wouldn't upgrade over-top is if you are running the
original setup.exe agent. If you are running 4.0.1.4 then you are fine.

  • Flash Player 10 does not work in IE or Firefox. What could it conflict with?

I'm  using Firefox 3.6.8 (and sometimes IE 8.0.6001.18702IC) on Windows XP Pro, SP 3.
For some weeks now, I have been unable to hear any sounds on anything Flash-based, from YouTube to games at MSN.com or embedded videos on any site using Flash.  Initially I had assumed it to be because of having QuickTime installed because I know QT likes to hijack everything.  I uninstalled QT (and Real Player) and Flash Player then reinstalled Flash Player (and Shockwave Player just in case) and guess what?
Yup.  Nothing.  When I uninstalled everything, I used a program called Revo Uninstaller, which includes a registry cleaning option.  I then used Abexo and WinASO's registry cleaners to make sure I got everything else that even looked like QuickTime off my hard drive.
When I reinstalled Flash, the following programs appeared in C:\Windows\system 32\Macromed\Flash:
    Flash 10i.ocx (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.82.76)
    genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX.dll (10.1.82.76)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.82.76)
    KB931433
    FlashInstall
    Install
    Flashplayer.xpt
When I check IE's "Tools" and look for add-ons, it says that Flash (Shockwave Flash) is enabled.  I even enabled the other Adobe add-ons for Acrobat and such just to be sure.  Firefox shows Shockwave Flash and Shockwave for Director both to be enabled.  The Flash control panel settings don't help: I have all sites set to store about 100 KB on my computer to make sure there's enough room for everything but still nothing.
Before anyone asks, my audio drivers are up to date, thanks to the manufacturer's website.  I have DirectX 9.0c installed and everything else works fine.  I can play audio and video elsewhere with no problems.  It's only Flash that's showing me this trouble and there's no hint as to what else could be interfering with Flash.
    Any ideas?

Well, great.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall before, but not with the uninstaller, so I was hopeful that this time might do it.  No such luck.  The video still plays, but no sound.
All the sound settings are working with everything else from games to media players.  I set Windows' firewall to allow both the ActiveX and plugin for Flash, just in case.
In the Flash folder, I now have:
    Flash10l.ocx (10.1.102.64)
    Flash Util10l_ActiveX (10.1.102.64)
    FlashUtil10l_Plugin (10.1.102.64)
    Genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll (10.1.102.64)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.102.64)
And the setup and text files that went with 'em.
I've also done a system restart since then and zip.
I went through IE and Firefox and looked for any file associations (like .flv) that I could manually change over to using Flash, but no go.  The settings panels for Flash have all been set to allow YouTube specifically (as a test) and to allow 10KB of storage space for all affected sites.
Now what?  I'm really not looking forward to a reformat and reinstall, but it's looking like that's what it's going to take.

Subject: Flash Player 10 does not work in IE or Firefox. What could it conflict with?
Something is strange with your list of modules; you list FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.102.64), but this is really 10.1.85.3
I recommend that you uninstall Flash Player completely (using http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), then restart Windows, and delete all remaining files in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash.
Next reinstall both ActiveX (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe) and the plugin (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe).

error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If
this problem persists, contact your network administrator."
Examination of the event log yields the following errors in this order:
    Event ID 1508:
Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by
insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.
    Event ID 1502:
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this
error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If
this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
    Event ID 1515:
Windows has backed up this user's profile. Windows will automatically try
to use the backed up profile the next time this user logs on.
    Event ID: 1511:
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a
temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you
    log off.
    Event ID 1517:
Windows saved user <user name> registry while an application or service
was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the
user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it
is no longer in use. This is often caused by services running as a user
account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService
    or NetworkService account.
Our systems are running Windows XP SP2 with the latest patches and Novell
Client 4.90 SP2. We did not encounter this problem when we were using
the Zenworks 4 agent. The only recent change we have made to the
environment is the upgrade to Zenworks 7. Therefore it appears that in
our case, the Zenworks 7 agent is the cause. The issue has not occurred
on every PC yet, however every day it seems that we get more and more
calls regarding this issue. Some users report that a reboot will fix the
problem while other users have seen a more persistent occurrence. For
the time being, we are installing UPHClean on the affected machines per
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;837115 However,
we need more testing to see if this will actually resolve the problem.
Furthermore, our objective is to determine why this issue has presented
itself after the Zenworks upgrade and what we can do from the Novell
perspective to fix it. Is there a possibility that Zenworks 7 agent is
not allowing these profiles to open? Could the upgrade to Zenworks 7
negatively impacted user profiles on these systems?
We performed the upgrade on a number of test systems without issue. We
pushed the Zenworks 7 MSI via a NAL object. The MSI essentially removed
Zenworks 4 and installed version 7.
Any help with this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks.

There is a good chance that UPHClean will resolve your issue.
The main issue is that most likely the profiles are not fully unloading
correctly and causing the reload to not work correctly.
The cause for the profiles sticking open are many and sort of why MS has
    created the tool.
If the tool does not help, we can try and troubleshoot more.

  • Project conflict with dynamically called VIs

I have a largish project in LV 2010 in XP and W7.  It's all in a project, as I build the main VI into an .exe.  There are numerous other top-level VI's that are called dynamically.  I use source code distributions to build them with their diagrams removed.  The .exe then calls them from a directory similar to "C:\DMT\My Project\Utilities".  (I never did find a good utility for discovering user directories across XP, W7, etc., so we ended up right in C: for config files and support files, stuff that often used to get put in with the .exe in XP and earlier OS's.)
Besides the top-level VI's, I also have a set of VI's that can be called dynamically to do custom calculations.  The interface to each VI is simple and defined, so users with LV can create their own calculations, put their VI (and sub-vis) in "C:\DMT\My Project\Calculations", and my program can make a call to it.
My problem is in how the project handles these VIs.  I need to include them in the project, since I need source code distribution builds to assemble a directory of the VI and all its dependencies.  So the actual source is in one place (under SVN), then I build them to another location, which I then deploy to "C:\DMT\My Project\Calculations".  The problem is, if I run the main program from within the project (rather than as an .exe), it links up to these calculations in "C:\DMT\My Project\Calculations" and then the project has conflicts.  The Calculation VI's in the project are now trying to point to "C:\DMT\My Project\Calculations" (which isn't in SVN) instead of to the true source code.  Every time I run the program from the project, I have to remember to go and manually fix the project.
Sorry if that's a bit complex to describe.  But does anyone have suggestions on an alternate architecture that would eliminate this issue?
    Thanks,

Thanks!  I'll try that.  (Wondering why I didn't think of that...)
