ZENworks Imaging Server 7 NetWare 6.5

We are using a NetWare 6.5 Server with ZENworks Imaging Server v7.0.1
Could someone tell me if there is a way to look at logs, to tell when a machine was last imaged, or even better the image history for a machine.
Are there log files which show this? or is there another process?
Alternativly, can I look at a machine, and look for a file or something which would show the image date of that machine?
I have tried ZISWIN.EXE but there are no log files.
We have a dispute and we need to show when a machine / group of machines was last imaged, date would be great.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

  • ZENworks Imaging & Image Safe Data Problems

    Hi All,
    I'm in the preparation stage of a Windows 7 rollout to 4000 desktops. So far we've packaged up 200 applications/bundles and tested them against our image, everything on that front is fine.
    Our new ZENworks 11.3.2 server is being now being used to deploy our old Windows XP images (created in ZfD7), I'm using hardware rules to do this and it's working perfectly.
    When I use the hardware rules to deploy our new Windows 7 Image it will image once as expected. The PC then boots, a powershell script will build the hostname from the model and serial number, join the domain, install the ZCM agent and all looks good.
    The problem comes later when I try to image the machines again, we get "no work to do". After some reading I assume this is because of the Image Safe Data.
    I've tried a things so far but seem to be getting inconsistent results, basically each time I PXE the machine I want the machine to use the hardware rule to pull down the image.
    The only way I have found that seems to work,is to clear the Image Safe Data and delete the "Novell ZENworks Image-Safe Data Service" after the agent has been installed (as part of my build script). This seems like overkill to me and I'm sure I'm missing something. Help!
    Any help/guidance would be much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Carl

    Often the just use the ZCC to tell the device to Apply the Assigned Image and then upon reboot it will just apply the image.
    Some often script this with WOL so that every morning at 3am all of their lab devices will re-image.
    Also you don't want to "Delete" the ZISD Service, it is better to configure the Default ZCM Agent Settings to install that service if you do not want it.
    Otherwise, it will come back.
    You may also be able to make configure the ZCM Imaging Menu to Always show when PXE Booting.
    Then you could manually select an image to restore, regardless of the state of the ZENworks Image Safe Data.

    We haven't used an "Imaging Scripts", we've only used the "ZENworks Image" bundle category.
    It seems to be working the way we want now, although I'm still not entirely happy with the changes we've had to make...
    Added C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\bin\preboot\ZISWIN.EXE -WIPE to the HKLM\..\Run registry key.
    Deleted the "Novell ZENworks Image-Safe Data Service" service.
    I'm not sure how this will effect client machines in the future when we update the Agent.
    When other customers reimage a machine which is already registered in ZENworks, do they push out images from the console?

  • Cannot connect to imaging server after ZDML SP1 IR3 install

    OK, here's a bit of an odd problem... well, actually, I hope it's an insanely easy problem that I just have overlooked a simple solution for. I guess that's for you guys to help figure out. ;)
    We had been running Zenworks 7.0.1.0 on an OES1 Linux server with a few odd problems, mostly with remote management and inventory, but we never had a problem with connecting to it for imaging purposes (at least not since I took over management of the box not that long ago). Considering the remote management and inventory issues, I decided to update it to the latest version just to make sure it wasn't an issue that had already been fixed, but now that I have done that we can no longer connect to the imaging server for imaging. While I'd still like to get our original problems fixed, I'm more concerned about the imaging itself and can then revisit the first.
    How I went about the upgrade: I followed the instructions at section 4.3 at ZENworks 7 Desktop Management with Support Pack 1 Interim Release 3a. Running ZDMstart shows "done" for bringing everything up, but when I try "/etc/init.d/novell-zmgserv status" it tells me that the Daemon is stopped; when I try "/etc/init.d/novell-zmgserv start" it says "failed".
    When that failed, I downloaded the ZEN7_with_SP1_IR2_DesktopMgmtLinux.iso and ran that installation, then went through the steps on 4.2 to upgrade. (OK, this particular maneuver may not have been my smartest.) Same end results though.
    I do recognize that I'm walking into a situation I didn't set up and there were other problems to start with. I have a feeling by the end of the year we'll be migrating to an OES2 server but, to be blunt, that project has been put off for other reasons here and again and I'd like to have something to work with in the meantime. Any idea where exactly the failed attempts would be logged to give me more to work with (I don't see anything in /var/log/messages)? Any other thoughts/suggestions are more than welcome; thanks in advance!

    Apologies in advance for any confusion; normally I post under this account, but the other day was logged in as tchristi2 for other reasons and forgot to log out... :/ In any case....
    I tried uninstalling and re-installing ZENworks from the 7.1HP2 CD, and tailing the /var/log/messages file this line jumped out at me:
    Sep 2 09:07:19 oes1 logger: We were unable to locate ndsmodules.conf at /usr/lib or at /usr/lib/nds-modules. ZENworks Imaging was not installed correctly.
    I cannot find ndsmodules.conf in either of those locations; could someone help me figure out where it would be or why I might not have it? I may just punt and setup an OES2 box and move ZENworks to it, but at the same time I'd like to have imaging running until we do get that box up and going. Thanks in advance!

  • Zenworks imaging failed with error:200

    We just got new PC's and when I try to use ZENworks 6.5 to put my image
    on them, I get "ZENworks imaging failed with error:200"
    I have not been able to find anything in the KB for this.
    The PCs are Gateway E-4500D, ZENworks is 6.5 running on NetWare 6.5 SP 4a.
    TIA

    We are on SP2 and getting the error code: 200 error. The PC's are DC5100
    Small form factor. They have SATA drives. Some work and some get this
    error, reboot and then start the image restore, but never gets to the
    Pre-Formatting. Any ideas?

  • What kind of software distribute Zenworks Images too

    is it possible to distribute the Zenworks Image with another distribution system?
    there are a lot of distribution software on the market, is someone familar with them, and may know what kind of software distribute the Zenworks Image to the workstation too. ?
    here are some examples of software :
    * FAI OpenSource Software
    * M23 OpenSource-
    * Open PC Server Integration (opsi)
    * RPM mit YUM und Repositories-Server
    * MS SCCM
    * HP OpenView
    * IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager IBM Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator
    * DX-Union
    * INOSOFT Garibaldi
    * BARAMUNDI Client Management Suite
    * Altiris Client Management Suite
    * Prism Suite Client Management Suite
    * enteo [Automate Software Deployment and Management]
    did anybody know if they work with the zenworks image too?

    I'm not aware of tools to convert ZENworks images to a different format, and given ZENworks images are file aware, I can't imagine it would be easy to convert them. The safest option remains to restore the image to a workstation and then take a new image using the "other" imaging tool.
    Note that with a ZENworks imaging boot CD, you don't even need an imaging server. Having for example the ZENworks image on an external disk should be enough for manual image restore.

  • Image server and images in the product catalog(CRM ISA)

    Dear Gurus,
        I am using CRM ISA 5.0 R/3 version. My products in the product catalog has got images. I have assigned the image's to the products in the R/3 product catalog(WWM2)
    In the b2b XCM for the webcatalog node, I need to specify the imageserver url. Can you please tell me what goes here. How do I find out what is my image server in my landscape. Please advice me how do I get the images in my ISA product catalog.
    Thanks!
    Vivek.

    Hi Vivek,
    In general image server is the web server. You need to talk to your network administrator to identify and setup the web server. Pass on the below document to your administrator to setup the publishing directories on the web server:

  • PT Transform Tag that outputs Image Server URL

    I noticed something missing from the EDK that I wanted to get Plumtree's perspective on. We have instances where we need the imageserver URI through the facilities of a Transformation Tag. This useful when the portlet source document is native HTML and does not have server side scripting and also whn using an XSL transformation. In these cases, it would be nice to have a <PT:Image /> tag that can be used to transform into a full URL to an image.
    e.g
    <pt:image pt:src="/fld/subfld/image.gif" alt="sometext" /> --- would output<img src="http://ptserver/imageserver/fld/subfld/image.gif" alt="sometext" />

    The portal translates the token every time it finds a static URL, that is every URL that the transformer rewrites. It would work, for example, in an tag. The transformer does not rewrite style sheets or inline styles, so:
    <td style="background-image: url('someBG.gif');">
    would not get automatically rewritten. You can't use the pt:url tag here, either, since you can't nest XML tags inside HTML tags (note: that's why pt://images/ is a URL rather than an XML tag in the first place).
    So I don't really have a good solution for this one. If this is a dynamic page, your best bet is to grab the image server URL from the EDK in the conventional way.

  • Decompression error's with Zenworks Imaging v6.5

    As part of our re imaging process, policy requires us to backup all
    workstations before re imaging. this often results in images ~25GB in size.
    (I am aware that it is not good practice to save data locally and ideally
    backup images should not be huge. Unfortunately due to policy this is
    unavoidable.)
    ZENworks imaging works great, except that occasionally individual files
    cannot be extracted from the image.
    When i try to extract a file in the above situation i am prompted with the
    following error:
    "A decompression error occured while attempting to extract the file from
    the image (-112). This file may not be extracted."
    In the past i have noted that the file in question tends to be quite large,
    (280MB) and is compressed in a fairly large image, ~20GB.
    Have checked on the original PC and the file is intact and working fine.
    When i backup the machine via Ghost the file is able to be extracted fine.
    Any help on this topic would be great as its difficult to test individual
    files and once the PC has been re imaged, if a file is corrupt in the
    image, it is impossible to retrieve.
    Cheers, Leon

    Is the file compressed using NTFS compression?
    It may be colored blue if you look at it in Windows Explorer.

  • ZENworks Reporting Server & 64-bit

    Hi, will it be possible, at some time, to install the ZENworks Reporting Server on a 64-bit OS? We are running right now ZCM 10.2. And when I try to install ZENworks Reporting Server with the DVD ZCM_REPORTING_10.1.0.iso all I get is an error message saying that it cannot run on a 64-bit OS.
    Thanks in advance for everything!

    You need to use the 10.2 ZRS version with a 10.2 zone and this will work on 64bit as stated. One for linux and one for windows on download.novell.com.

  • ZENworks Imaging Loop

    Sorry for posting again, but here is some more information, as well as some extra things we have tried.
    Hi,
    The screen results with this exit code after the workstation has been imaged, prior to booting back into PXE and then re-imaging, along with completion and the same message.
    ================================================== ==================
    Novell ZENworks Imaging Engine v10.2.0.0

    Imaging operation(s) assigned by 10.0.0.21
    Elapsed time: 12:48
    No more jobs to be done in policy
    ZENworks imaging failed with error: 52.
    Novell ZENworks SID changer for linux
    Version 10.2.0.0 Copyright 2007 - 2009
    Exiting: Computer has not been recently imaged
    ================================================== ==================
    The above message occurs (and this happens to other Laptops & PCs) after the machine has been imaged, but we are still having the computer re-imaging itself, it is in a constant loop.
    We were running Zenworks 7SP1 IR4. Last week we loaded Zenworks 7SP1 SR4.
    My manager has rolled back to IR4, but no change, as we have computers constantly re-imaging over and over in a loop.
    I have tried deleting the workstation object (name) from within ConsoleOne, and still the problem occurs. I have also made sure there are no add-on images attached to the imaging.
    Notes:
    Now, whenever we image a PC, the imaging process appears to finish, but we get an error: "Zenworks Imaging failed with Error:52"
    The system then reboots and starts the process again. If you look at the workstation properties, the Zenworks Image tickbox has not cleared, and hence the restart of the imaging.
    I found that Zenworks error 52 is: "52 - No partition type given when asked to create a part". I don't know why it would be saying that. (It is also possible that this message has always been there, but we have never noticed it, as the process has always worked).
    I came across an article that suggests the "ZENworks agent on the workstation has to be the same version as the ZENworks snap-ins in ConsoleOne".
    We are using:
    ConsoleOne Version 1.3.6h
    ZENworks Desktop Management 7.0.1 = snap-ins for configuring policy settings
    ZENworks Desktop Management 7.0.1 = snap-ins for administering and managing software distributions
    If you have any ideas could you please let us know?
    Cheers and thanks,

  • Image Server

    Does anyone know if you can use relative URLs in the Content and Collab config files to reach the image server or do these settings have to be an absolute URL?
