ZENWorks Inventory on SQL?

We currently have our inventory being stored in the Novell sybase db, is
it possible to have it store to a Microsoft SQL DB instead? If so is there
a TID on the procedure?

    Hi,
I have installed ZENworks 7 on a OES2 Linux server and have some troubles with the Inventory service.
First: the Inventory Service object in the tree has was not created. I tried to create it manually, but that causes problems with the scandir.
Second: Novell ZENworks Inventory server daemon is dying every time I statr it.
The logfile /var/opt/novell/log/zenworks/inv/novell-zdm-inv.log shows this information:

  • Zenworks Inventory Data Export

I am trying to get a report of our current systems using the Zenworks
Inventory Data Export as shown in edir.
When I run the export it also shows systems we have deleted. I am

  • Zenworks Inventory Scope only shows "servers"

When I go into ConsoleOne v1.3.6h, Tools, Zenworks Inventory, Reporting... the scope says "servers." I can't choose workstations. When I try to do a quick report, it also has "servers" chosen by default. Workstation and Both are greyed-out.
I can go into individual workstation and look at their inventory.

  • Analyse zenworks inventory reports

    Hello,
We want to use the zenworks inventory to check whick user is installing
    "illegal software" on his pc.
This by running a software inventory report and comparing the results of
    this inventory.
This software inventory report give us a very large listing of exe files and
versions, for example querying all software of Microsoft Incorporated gives
us 33 pages of different programs. It is nearly inpossible to interpret this
    listings.
Is there a way to bundle this information of are there programs who can do
    it ?

  • Getting two errors in ZenWorks Inventory...

    Hello all,
I'm getting two errors on just about every one of my workstation

I am running Zen 7 SP1 IR4 HP2 and it is a brand new installation. These

    They errors are

Scanner (Information) : 002: Unable to register to DMI service layer.
L checked some old posts and found a reference from Shaun Pond to look at

How can I get rid of the wrong entries? Inventory update is performed twice a week.
    Servers: 2 prim Server w2k8r2sp1 with ZCM 11.2.2 with MS-SQL 2008 DB
Clients: mainly Win7 64bit SP1 with ZCM Agent 10.3.4 -waiting to upgrade to 11.2.3 due to multiple reboots for previous versions.
    Klaus

Does the "local workstation" version of the inventory report (accessed from the ZENworks Agent properties on that workstation) also show both versions, or is it correct?
I'm seeing something similar (but not entirely identical) on a few workstations - not just one, but certainly not all.
In my case, the "Detailed Hardware/Software Inventory" report on the workstation object in ZENworks Control Center gives, among other things, the following snippet:
    Code:
Novell ZENworks Adaptive Agent 11.1.0.12959(C:\Program Files\...\bin) Network Config. Mgmt.
Novell ZENworks Adaptive Agent, Windows 10.3.3.44626(C:\Program Files\...\bin) Network Config. Mgmt.
Novell ZENworks Asset Management 10.3.3.2458(C:\Program Files\...\modules) Asset Mgmt PC Inventory
Novell ZENworks Asset Management Module 11.1.0.10525(C:\Program Files\...\modules) Asset Mgmt PC Inventory
The "local workstation" version of the inventory report for that workstation, however, shows only the 11.1 versions of each of the various components.
I've found this on three workstations so far, all of them checked on because they are listed under the older ZENworks Agent version in the predefined "Software Applications By Manufacturer" report. In one of the three cases (the one shown above), the "old" version is 10.3.3; in the other two, the "old" version is 10.2.0. All three of them appear to be running Windows XP, although the vast majority of our organization is on 64-bit Windows 7 SP1.
In one case, I "fixed" the problem by deleting the workstation object, refreshing the affected workstation (to re-create the object), running the inventory scan, refreshing again, and running the scan again. That's not actually a solution, but it did get rid of the erroneous data from that inventory record. (The double refresh-and-scan is because after the first pair, the "inventory scan" had found no software at all, including the operating system. I'm guessing it had not had time to pick up the appropriate product-recognition data.)
All I've been able to find so far about this online is explicit statements, from old ZENworks versions, that there is no way to remove the inventory data without deleting the workstation object. I hope that claim is now out of date, but I don't see anything to contradict it.

  • How to find out who installed SQL Server in Big orgnization?

    Hi all,,,
I want to find out who installed SQL server in their computers/servers. The internet is open and it's easy to install SQL server EXPRESS. Iam not looking for the command which will results computers in my vlan only. Iam looking for a query to result out
all SQL installed with different Vlan within the organization.
Anyway to find them out?!  Thanks.

No need to know WHO install it but is it possible to know the Host name that SQL installed in?!
You asked for "who", not for "where".
You can use MS MAP =
Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit : "Software Usage Tracker Feature Overview ....
SQL Server" to get reports, which software is running on which machine.
Or you can use this PowerShell Script
Create Inventory of SQL Server in Network as Html
For both you need permissions to fetch the required information from all machines, of course.
