Zeppelin Air and Airplay

So I am thinking of buying one of these but the Airplay part is £100 more than the non-air and I am not sure if I will use it.
I currently have a Time Capsule and Macbook Pro (both bought in Sept 2010 new) along with an iPad 1, iPhone 4 and latest iPod Touch.
It sounds like the Zeppelin creates a wifi network which I then have to connect to with the MBP so I can stream the music from iTunes on the MBP to the Zeppelin.
The issue with this is that I solely use the wifi connection on my MBP to access the internet so would rather not disconnect this everytime I want to play music.
Have I got this right? Is there a way around this using the hardware I have or with some new additional hardware?

Got it.. You need to just expand the window by clicking in right hand corner.. the default window size only allows room for the first 2 options!

Bose SoundLink Air and Airplay - Connectivity!

Hi all,
I'm having a long-running battle with Airplay that I really hope someone can offer some help with.
I've had a Bose SoundLink Air speaker for a couple of years now which has always worked fine, except for the last maybe 3 or 4 months.
When trying to play music through the speaker using either my iPhone 5s or iPad (3rd generation), playback will last maybe a minute or two maximum before the connection with Airplay is lost and therefore playback stops. The Airplay symbol will disappear from my phone/iPad for only a second or two and then reappear, at which point I can reconnect and start playing the music again; but the cycle repeats...
Both the iPhone and iPad are using the most recent versions of iOS and, as mentioned above, have worked fine with the Bose speaker in the past. Ironically, I have a PC and laptop, both running Windows 7, that stream music to the speaker flawlessly via iTunes; no drop-outs whatsoever - it only seems to be the Apple products that are struggling! The fact that the PC and laptop play with no issues satisfies me that there are no issues with WiFi connectivity (also, I don't experience any other issues with the network).
If anyone has come across this issue before and is aware of a fix, I'd be really grateful for some advice as I'm now at a loss. For reference, I've made no changes to my network/set up etc. recently.

I moved to a pc and setup and have been streaming - I havent lost connecting, but it is HARD WIRED. It seems to be a problem with every device that is connected to my network thru wireles, and then wirelessly streaming. When I stream to the BOSE from a PC or LAPTOP that is hardwired into the net, we're fine. So far!

Zeppelin Air Toruble with my iPhone 4

Basically when I connect my iPhone 4 (4.3.1) to AirPlay and try to adjust the volume using the buttons on the unit or the zeppelin remote it becomes really glitchy e.g. I have hit volume up and the volume decides to go down vice versa.
I had this trouble with my 1st Zeppelin and returned it for a replacement. On getting my second zeppelin I tried it without updating the stereo's firmware and everything was fine, so I updated the firmware again and the problem arose again.
I was wondering if anyone with the same setup as me (Zeppelin Air and iPhone 4 (4.3.1) could check if they have the same issue, hopefully from this information I will be able to determine if it's my phone software (my Dad's 3GS (4.3.1) works perfectly fine) or if it's the latest Zeppelin firmware causing the bug with my phone.

I've had a client experience what you're describing. He has both iPhone 3GS and 4. He doesn't know what phone he was using at the time (not conscistent like yours), sorry. I'm figuring it's a issue with the Zeppelin, but that's a hunch at best. And if you've managed to isolate it on you're iPhone 4, then who knows... Can't say what firmware version he's on (on the zeppelin) but he got it in the beginning of april and have definitly not upgraded it. Don't know about the version on his iPhone 4 either...
I've got one of these as well but havn't had that perticular problem. Have had to restart mine (zeppelin) on several occations because it disconnects and stays that way from the WiFi (Airport Extreme).
I have mostly used it with Airfoil, but a fair bit on my two iPhone 4s (with 4.3.1 and .2) as well and it's worked fine.

BTW, are you using ethernet or WiFi?
I'll try updating my zeppelin if there's a new version that you're using. If I run into problems I will post them here.

Zeppelin Air with Lightning Dock?

Does anyone know whether B&W will produce a new Zeppelin Air with a Lightning dock?
I really don't want to buy the current Zeppelin Air and have to use the Apple Lightning adapter which wouldn't look good, especially as it's white.

I asked Bowers and Wilkins. They said that they have plans to release a new Zeppelin Air with the lightning dock but they are still in the stages of making a plan and do not know when it will be released yet.

In theory I would expect it to do so, but I would check with B&W if it behaves to all intents and purposes as an Airport Express does for Airtunes.
Hopefully someone with the combination will confirm.

Air Play Symbol Disappeared and cannot play Zeppelin Air through Itunes

Christmas 2012 we bought the Zeppelin Air Speaker, we had Itunes on the laptop and was able to play music through Air Play icon. Unfortunately the laptop broke, so I have had to use our other laptop, it has the up to date version of Itunes, the speaker comes up on the laptop as connected but the airplay icon is no longer on Itunes, can anyone help as not too sure what to do. Thank you.

Ipod nano 7th generation and zeppelin air

Is the 7th generatin ipod nano compatible with the zeppelin air (at least wirelessly)??

Don't think so - the zeppelin uses AirPlay which is WiFi based while the Nano 7G uses Bluetooth A2DP for wireless streaming. The Nano does not support WiFi.

The AirPlay feature is only available whe you have an Apple Tv. You can mirror the display form your iPad if the iPad and Apple Tv are both connected to the same WPA (or the same Wi-Fi). Air Drop is a way of sharing files, such as pictures, PDFs, and text documents. Hope this helps.

Update itunes 10.6.1.7 - Zeppelin Air issues

Good morning all,
Wondering if somebody else also is occuring this in order to get it through with Apple.
A few days ago I updates my itunes version to 10.6.1.7. After the update, I have a lot of lag on my airplay, especially to a B&W zeppelin air device. It looks like iTunes is continuously shifting between the computer's speaker output and the zeppelin's output although both are selected.
This only seems to be from my pc to the zeppelin device. Using my iphone to airplay to the zeppelin works fine.
Information about the PC, LAN, Zeppelin:
* Windows 7 x64 fully updated, Quadcore 2.83Ghz, 4GB RAM (of which plenty is available), iTunes 10.6.1.7 x64 version
* 1 Gbps LAN network, minimal usage
* Zeppelin is up to the latest firmware version 1.3.1_01 and is connected wireless (n) to the LAN
- Other devices on the network don't expirience lagging so the problem seems solely located to iTunes.
- upnp using the same pc to a remote device also works fine ruling out pc issues.
- reinstallation of iTunes didn't solve the issues as well.
I'm trying to find a older version from iTunes 10.5.x to see if that resolves the issues but so far I haven't found a downloadable installer yet.

Experimental advice. But it might be worth checking to see if there's a LSP issue in play here, as per the following document:

Thomson gateway router and airplay

Hi all,
I have recently purchased the B&W Zeppelin Air & while the sound is fantastic (for what it is...audiophile might disagree), I am having issues with it staying connected to the network. While playing a playlists using Airplay it will all of a sudden drop the connect (often mid-song). No error message appears when I'm using my iPhone or iPad but one does appear when using my iMac telling me in essence to power off than on my wireless router. I do this and it reconnects (at least temporarily). I believe this to be a problem starting with my Thomson router (and not my mac or stereo) as I can only use Home Share periodically as well (sometimes it shows up on my iPhone or iPad, other (most) time is doesn't).
I guess my question is, can I change any setting on my router to hopefully solve this problem or is it even a problem with my router? I have read that one needs to make changes to their network when hooking up game systems, do I need to make the same changes?
I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a new router (the Zeppelin Air cost me enough as it is).

IPhone 4s and AirPlay

I'm using an iPad2 and Apple MacBook Air without problems in connection with a Zeppelin Air loudspeaker System via AirPlay.
Only my iPhone 4S makes trouble. It can not 'hold the line' to the Zeppelin Air. Is there anyone with same problems and - perhaps - a Suggestion?

Habe meinen Zeppelin Air wunderbar in Betrieb genommen, mit dem iPad gibt es keinen Ärger, aber beide iPhone 4 haben das gleiche Problem: Sie verlieren nach kurzer Zeit die Verbindung, stoppen die Wiedergabe, springen bei der Lautsprecherauswahl auf Lautsprecher "iPhone". Manchmal fehlt beim Auftauchen des Fehlers auch kurz das Lautsprecherauswahl-Icon. M.E. liegt es am iPhone, nicht am Zeppelin, denn mit dem Mac oder dem iPad läuft es ja.
Dummerweise ist das iPhone aber eigentlich das Gerät, mit dem es laufen sollte. Weiß jemand Rat?

In the meantime we suggest power-cycling your wireless router and Zeppelin Air in order to reestablish Airplay streaming on your network, then using the “Remote” application to choose music remotely then stream it from your computer’s iTunes library.
