ZfD 701 Trying to connect to Master XML Server

After loading the Inventory service, everything seems to be normal, but
then it tells
....connection refused
Trying to connect to Master XML Server...
I did not find much in the Knowledge base.
Does this mean, the Inventory service is looking for a inventory proxy?
If so, wow can I tell Zfd to stop looking for the proxy?

It sounds as if the webservice is not loading correctly.

  • Trying to connect to Master XML server

    Hello everyone....
I have a single NW 6.5 SP7 Zen 7 Inventory server and I am getting this
error and some odd things happening when I try to look at the status of the
workstation scans. First of all, I am wondering if these problems are
    relate.
Either way, I need to get this "Trying to connect to Master XML server..."
error fixed. Someone suggested in an earlier post that a complete uninstall
and reinstall may be the way to go. They talked about online documents that
gave detail instructions on that but I never found anything like that.
So, I'm kind of stuck. Can anyone help me out there....?
    Thanks.

  • Trying to connect to maser xml server.....

    running netware 6.5 sp5, zfd 6.5. Getting:
    >Trying to connect to Master XML Server...
on the ZENworks Inventory Server screen on the server.
    Questions include:
    *What's a "Master XML Server"
*How do you make the message go away
If you want to refer me to TID 10099856. I did read that, and it sounds
like the most likely solution. However, I'm unsure where to find a new
ZWS.PROPERTIES or ZFS-STARTUP.XML file. Further, I can edit these files
and they do not appear to be corrupt.
    Thanks for your assistance,

  • Inventory in 6.5 SP1b - Unable to connect to master XML server

So there seems to be some confusion here as to whether or not it's
normal to see this error and whether or not the zfs-startup.xml file is
    supposed to be blank.
I'm seeing this error on the inventory service screen.
On posting here, Marcus said it's normal as long as data can go into the
    inventory.
But then I see other posts that state that zenws SHOULD be running (and
it won't run if the zfs-startup.xml is blank), since that file is called
by zenws.ncf which in turn is called by startinv.ncf
I found a post where the contents of the .xml is posted, so I put that
    into my zero-byte file.
    But zenws still isn't running.
    The logger screen shows:
    java: Class com.novell.application.zenworks.loader.ZENloader exited
    with status -1
    java: Class
    com.novell.application.zenworks.services.webserver .ZenWebServer exited
    with status 1
If the xml file is NOT supposed to be blank, how does it get that way
(too many people complaining about this 0-byte file so either the CD
file is bad, or the SP1b breaks it somehow?)

Thanks. I could've sworn I HAD the XML service up and running at one
time, but obviously something happened, because it won't load. (I
definitely remember seeing that zen webserver thingy)
I may end up opening an SR in which case I'll share my information with

  • Master XML server

    Hi Folks:
One of my leaf Zen servers, when I try to start the inventory service, reports "trying to connect to Master XML server" over and over.
The service object is set to leaf and I have the roll-up policy identical to my other Zen leaf inventory servers. Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Never mind - I got it. Two files were corrupt. I copied them from another leaf server. I used TID 10099856

  • Macbook pro keeps trying to connect to an old server

I have a macbook pro, just updated to OSX mavericks, when I turn the machine on, it will keep trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists (a windows pc I had at home I called "estudio"); how can I fix this? where is that the OS keeps the list of servers that the machine has been connected to? I already went through the option of "deleting all the list of recent servers" on the Connecting to a Server window.
    Thanks for any help

  • Why do I get the message  "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to microsoft exchange server.

Why do I get the message "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to ms exchange server?

Hard to say. Has it ever worked? Maybe your account has mobile e-mail disabled. Maybe ActiveSync isn't set up properly on the server. maybe the correct ports are not open on the corporate firewall.
You will have to talk to your IT department.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

  • How do I stop my MacBook Pro from trying to connect to a home Server?

My Macbook Pro keeps trying to connection to an external harddrive server that I run at home when I am not home. I get an error that the server is not available. I checked the console and it gives an error of AFP_GetServerInfo - can not connect 64. I have removed from my favourite servers connections, I have deleted all programs that start automatically but nothing seems to fix the issue. Anyone have any ideas?
    I'm running a 2014 13" Macbook Pro with Yosemite 10.10.3.
    Cheers,

There are many possible causes for this issue, and it may be very hard to resolve. Please take whichever of the following steps is applicable that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
If you get the alert in the login screen before you log in, stop here and ask for instructions.
    Step 1
If you get the alert as soon as you log in, it's probably caused by one of your login items or by software that otherwise loads at startup or login. Ask if you need help identifying it. Known offenders are "1Password" and "Adobe Resource Synchronizer."
    Step 2
If there's an icon representing the server in the sidebar of a Finder window, hold down the command key and drag it out.
    Step 3
You may have created aliases to files or folders on the server. If you don't know whether you did that, you can find all aliases as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemContentType=com.apple.alias-file
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
              File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
              Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
              Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
              Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
The search window will now show all aliases on mounted volumes. You can see the target of each alias by selecting it and opening the Info window. Delete any that refer to the server.
    Step 4
Open the Printers & Scanners pane in System Preferences and delete any network devices you no longer use. If in doubt, delete them all and add back the ones you want.
    Step 5
Copy the line below to the Clipboard as in Step 3:
    ~/Library/PDF Services
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder may open. If it does, move the contents to the Desktop, or to a new folder on the Desktop. Log out and log back in. Test. If there's no change, put the items you moved back where they were and continue.
    Step 6
    Open the folder
    ~/Library/Preferences
as in Step 5 and move the file named "loginwindow.plist" items in that folder to the Trash, if it exists (it may not.)
Log out and back in again, and test.
    Step 7
Other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, bookmarks in the Preview application, and PDF files created by Adobe Acrobat with embedded scripts.
Try rebuilding the iPhoto library, if applicable.
If you get the alert when connecting an iOS device with iTunes, re-create your iTunes library and playlists. See also this discussion.
    Step 8
Resources such as images or sounds stored on the server may have been added to various applications. Examples would be pictures added to Contacts and custom sounds added to Mail. The range of possibilites here is practically infinite, so I can't be more specific. You might get a hint by launching the Console application and looking for error messages that appear at the same time as the alerts.
    Step 9
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up. Start up in safe mode. Test. After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Step 10
Launch the Directory Utility application. Depending on what version of OS X you have, you may be able to do that by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search. If that doesn't work, triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices
Right-click or control-click the selected text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder named "CoreServices" will open. The Directory Utility application is in that folder, or in a subfolder named "Applications".
In the Directory Utility window, select the Directory Editor tool in the toolbar. Select Mounts from the Viewing menu in the toolbar, and /Local/Default from the node menu, if not already selected. On the right is a list of names and values. By default, the list is empty. If it's not empty, post a screenshot of the window and stop here.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
    Step 11
Open the following file as you did in the last step:
    /etc/auto_master
It will open in a TextEdit window. The contents should be exactly this:
    # Automounter master map
    +auto_master          # Use directory service
    /net               -hosts          -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid
    /home               auto_home     -nobrowse,hidefromfinder
    /Network/Servers     -fstab
    /-               -static
If there are any other lines in the window, post them. Otherwise, close the window.

  • Mac/iPhoto trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists

    I have a MacBook Air, running OS X 10.7.5
Because I was running out of space and set up an AFP connection to a NAS.  The NAS is now dead and gone, but in certain situations the Mac tries to connect
    1. In MS Office, if I have the ClipArt/Shape/etc browser open, it tries to connect to the server - is a PITA but I can live with it
    2. In iPhoto, it constantly tries to connect, particularly if I am using the slideshow feature - Has rendered iPhoto unusable.
The iPhoto situation is that I perhaps foolishly connected to a photo folder on the NAS share and iPhoto imported a bunch of pictures from there.  Now that the server is offline, it constantly looks for them and tells me that it can't connect.
I can still see the thumbnails but obviously it cannot access the full files. I don't know exactly which folders are NAS pictures and which are not
I've found some similar topics but not a satisfactory answer.
How can I stop this message - how can I stop the Mac from trying to connect to a server that is never going to be there?

The location should be /Users/your name/Pictures. You can change this by holding down the option or alt key (the ones immediately to the left or right of the cmd keys either side of the spacebar) whilst clicking on the iPhoto application icon in your dock and making an informed choice from the options you see.
By default iPhoto creates an iPhoto Library (the folder where all your data in iPhoto is stored) in the /Users/your name/Pictures folder. It seems that in the past you must have selected an externally or network attached volume named TOSHIBA as the location for the iPhoto Library instead using the instructions I've given you. All you have to do is revert it back to the location you now want.

  • On startup, imac tries to connect to a network server that doesn't exist.

Since I migrated  my old iMac to the new one, it has been trying to connect to a non-existent "Server at an IP ADDRESS".  Actually, it is trying to find a long defunct network media drive.
This glitch also hangs up the Clean my Mac software.
How do I tell the iMac to NOT try to locate this hardware?
    Cheers

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
If you get the warning as soon as you log in, it's probably caused by one of your login items or a system modification that loads at startup or login. Ask if you need help identifying it. A common offender is "Adobe Synchronizer," which is a component of some Adobe products.
    Step 2
If there's an icon representing the server in the sidebar of a Finder window, hold down the command key and drag it out.
    Step 3
In the Finder, press the key combination command-K or select
    Go ▹ Go to Server...
from the menu bar. In the upper right corner of the window that opens is a Recent Servers popup menu represented by a clock icon. From that menu, select
    Clear Recent Servers…
    and confirm. Test.
    Step 4
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/PDF Services
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder may open. Step 5
    Open the folder
    ~/Library/Preferences
as in Step 3 and move the file named "loginwindow.plist" items in that folder to the Trash, if it exists (it may not.)
Log out and back in again, and test.
    Step 6
Other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, and bookmarks in the Preview application.
    Try rebuilding the iPhoto library.

  • Trying to connect to a ftp server

I am able to connect to Cerberus (5.0.0.5) using the web browser or using a CoreFTP client, but I can't connect programatically using org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient.
Below is my code (this is actually using the java ftpclient through Coldfusion) :
    ftpsClient = CreateObject("java","org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient").init();
    ftpsClient.connect(JavaCast("string","xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"),21);
    connected = ftpsClient.isConnected();
    login = ftpsClient.login(JavaCast("string","username"),JavaCast("string","password"));
This is what I see in the ftp server log file:
2011/12/13 13:47:54  [0]  Client connected to Cerberus FTP Server 5.0.0.5 on 'machine'
    2011/12/13 13:48:41  [1]  Incoming connection request on FTP interface 0 at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    2011/12/13 13:48:41  [1]  FTP connection request accepted from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    2011/12/13 13:48:45  [1]  USER svc.script
    2011/12/13 13:48:45  [1]  331 User svc.script, password please
At this point the Coldfusion/Java client returns "Truncated server reply".  I also tried not using the login, and instead sending the user command and pass command separately like this:
    userCmd = ftpsClient.sendCommand(JavaCast("string","USER" ),JavaCast("string","username" ));
But as soon as I send the "USER" command I see the above in the log file and the same reply, "Truncated server reply".
When I use the cfftp tag like this:
    <cfsetting requesttimeout="1000">
    <cfftp action="open" connection="ftptest" secure="false"
        server="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" port="21"
        username="username" password-"password" timeout="1000" stoponerror="true">
I receive a "java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect"
Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks much.

    This has been resolved.
There is a bug in the apache commons ftpclient that misinterprets /r in the welcome message.  The ftp server people made a change that fixes this.
With cfftp, when I changed the server attribute on the cfftp open to the server name instead of the ip address, it started working.  To me this is a bug in ColdFusion, you should be able to use the ip address.
The other thing I noticed is when you use getfile, you have to set the the failifexists attribute to "false".  If you don't, it fails every time and the file has a "0" size, whether the file actually does exist.  To me, another bug.

    Hi Brian,
In Acrobat, security concerns dictate that you cannot specify an ODBC connection string by using the Driver=; syntax. Therefore, the client computer using the form needs to have a DSN pre-configured for ODBC connections.
