ZFD3.2 SP3 install question

Do I have to install the "Server" and "Workstation" portions of the
Service pack together, or can they be installed "Server" first and then
a rollout of the workstation portion when I can?
I am currently running NW6SP3 and ZFD3.2 with no service pack. I plan
on installing NW6SP4 soon.
Thanks in advance for the input
Greg

Hi
You can separate them. Just keep in mind that some issues might not be
fixed until you apply the workstation part as well.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 install question

Greetings!  I am planning on installing the SP3 update for Exchange 2010 in preparation for a Hybrid deployment with O365.  After installing the SP3 update to all Exchange servers in our environment, I was going to then install the RU8 on the servers.
Hopefully I can perform all of this during one maintenance window.  I have already performed the schema update for SP3 during our most recent maintenance window.
I have been scouring the forums for any potential upgrade issues.  I wanted to know if there was any concern about the RU8 update for SP3 that might affect our environment from past experience of other admins; whether it be Outlook clients (we use mostly
Outlook 2010 with some Outlook 2013) or OWA.  We are currently on SP2, RU6.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
As what Amit mentioned above, you can upgrade from Exchange 2010 SP2 RU6 to SP3 RU8, as long as this version is supported for Hybrid deployment with O365.

To DAGs, please consider the following conditions:
Upgrade passive servers first. Place server in maintenance mode if any monitoring applications are in use. Stop any scheduled tasks or other processes running on the DAG member or within that DAG that could adversely affected the DAG member being upgraded
    or the upgrade process.

  • Win XP Media Center Ed. & Adobe Reader 9.4/9.4.1 Updts Lock Up & Reader X 10.0.1 Install Question

What is the deal with Win XP Media Center Edition and Updates to Adobe Reader?  I have been unable to install Adobe Reader Updates 9.4 & 9.4.1 to Win XP Media Center Edition (32 bit - SP3) since last October!!!  The update starts to install and then locks up when it starts trying to Remove Shortcuts!  I have had to kill the update and then Adobe Reader does not function after that.  I have had to go back and run a System Restore for a date & time prior to the attempted update install, to get Adobe Reader working again.
I was going to try uninstalling Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and installing the latest Adobe Reader version X (10.0.1) - until I read the System Requirements. Only Win XP Home, Professional & Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 3 (32 bit) are mentioned as valid operating systems.  Does this mean that version X (10.0.1) can't be installed on Windows XP Media Center Edition (32 bit) with SP3 installed???
Any help/info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

You're correct. Clean uninstall i referred to meant clean up every single trace of Adobe Reader in your program files, in your registry, in your application data folder, etc. CClearner is a good one. Apart from using it for cleaning up web and windows temp files, did you try to use their Registry fix feature?
What I am trying to say is that you should:
    -Uninstall Adobe
-Clear up any trace left by the program
    -Clear up Temp folder
    -Run Registry fix
    -Restart the computer
    -Reinstall the Adobe
That's all i can say. I am not saying that this will work for sure. It is just one of many resolution for you. Good luck!

  • Exchange 2010 SP2 to SP3 upgrade question regarding Forefront

When doing an upgrade from 2010SP2 to SP3 is it recommended stopping all exchange services manually before installing the update?  I know there is a prereq of stopping forefront or you may have an issue with services starting.  I have not run into
this issue in my test environment.  I do not know if the SP3 install requires any checks of services to be running or not.
I have also notices on a cas/ht server with forefront installed, you can't stop forefront without shutting down the transport service.  So is it best to just shut all services down first before doing the upgrade?

    Hi,
Based on the article below, you can stop all Exchange services before you decide to install an Exchange service pack, if you really require this.

  • Free download, and install question

    Free download, and install question.
I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC.  I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Adobe Reader and Flash.  When down loading and installing it does not give me the option to install in a defferent location other then my C: drive.  Can this be done?  Thanks you?

From the MSI you have to create a MST (Transforms). In the MST create now the new property INSTALLDIR=F:\, where F: is your USB-drive. If you use then the command
    msiexec.exe /i [MSI] transforms=[MST]
Adobe Reader should be installed to F:

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Active Directory update - can I do this 2 or 3 weeks in advance of SP3 Install?

    Hi,
As above really - is it OK to do the setup.exe /PrepareAD three weeks in advance of the Exchange SP3 install?
My thinking is: one less thing to do at the update and all Domain Controllers should have updated / replicated well in advance of the Service Pack install.
I only have a single Domain with two AD sites (Head office and Disaster Recovery).
Any issues with this / reasons NOT to do it?
    thanks,
    Adam

    Hello,
Updating AD this way shouldn't cause any problems. After that operation you should verify that all modifications were successful.
Thanks, I thought so. I will do the AD update ahead of SP3 and perform the necessary checks to ensure all is OK.

  • Ethernet card disappears after SP3 install (T60 1951-45G)

    Hi!
I updated my Windows XP to Service Pack 3 yesterday and now it seems my ethernet card has disappeared. i.e. it acts at it has been disabled in the BIOS (not showing up in device manager etc.). I've tried entering BIOS, hiding it, booting, restart, enable in BIOS and new boot but no luck. In another thread I saw people complaining about broken MS update and that a clean install might resolve the problem.
My question is if anyone else have had the same experience and if it is solvable without a clean install of a streamlined SP3.
    My machine is a T60 1951-45G.
Everything else seems to run just fine by the way, but I'll post back if I find additional problems.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are reports of SP3 breaking LAN/WAN connectivity on many laptops (TechNet, MSFN, MS forums). Not quite certain what the resolution is at this point, and not quite certain whether a streamlined SP3 fresh install would be a fix for the issue. For some, SP3 disables WAN completely, while for others the issue is with LAN. It seems certain "newer" drivers are the culprit.
Before doing something drastic, try re-installing the LAN drivers from Lenovo to see if that fixes it, otherwise you may just have to revert back to SP2 (nothing wrong with it on an existing machine that otherwise runs without issues). SP3, afterall, is particularly a cumulative update (albeit with some new "features"), so really there's no great reason to update a working and updated XP-SP2 system with this new service pack.
On a side note, be sure to check if KB941644 was inadvertently installed as part of the update - it's a "hotfix" that is known to cause a number of connectivity issues (unresolvable).
You can check here (MS XP issues) to see if there is a solution to your issue.
    Hope this clears things up

  • BO XI 3.1 SP3 Install issue on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit

We are trying to install the lastest Build of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP3 on a new server with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit OS (51038908_part1.exe,51038908_part2.rar, 51038908_part3.rar).
The setup never finish! It seems that the setup can't validate the CMS installation and is trying again and again.
In the "Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 - Windows - Supported Platforms" document, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Entreprise 64-bit Edition is supported.
The antivirus is desactivated and the setup.exe file was launched in the administrator mode.
    Any ideas?
Edited by: Frederic Wojnarowski on Nov 22, 2010 5:45 PM

We have run into similar issues with that same package (51038908_part1.exe) which is a complete install of "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" for Windows 2008 Server that only installs in the 64-bit mode.
We had a 32-bit Oracle 10g client installed, that BOE did not recognize for the CMS - so the install was hanging at the CMS config...(no clear errors / no simple way to roll-back the failed install).
We only discovered the underlying Oracle issue when we deployed just the CMS with a local MySQL database - and then tried to point the CMS at the Oracle DB instead. It gave us TNS errors even though we could hit the same TNS without issue using SQL-PLUS on the same machine.
This lead us to assume that the 64-bit BOE couldn't connect via the 32-bit Oracle 10g drivers.
We have had trouble installing the 64-bit Oracle 10g client that we downloaded - so are now looking for some advice.
Anyone know which specific 64-bit Oracle 10g client should be used with the cumulative "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" 64-bit package (51038908_part1.exe)...?
I assume that this Oracle client will be used for any connection to the CMS / AUDIT Oracle databases - and any RPT content running on the CR-JobServers that is using an Oracle Native connection...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

  • Upgrading to  Mountain Lion Pre Install Questions

    HI:
I will be installing Mountain Lion Next week.
I have read through many of the turotrials and quired most of the following  I still have a few questions.
I have some concerns in particular regarding the contents of my mail boxes and mail.
I have backed up unto an external harddrive using time machine. When I click on the mail app I can't access it and see if the contents are there. I just get a window showing the specs.
From what I have read all my documents applications and system info are backed up.
1} Will the contents of Mail Inbox and personal Mail Boxes be either on the external drive or in Mail itself after I upgrade?
2} Will I need to up grade iWork  and other Mac programs after the upgrade?
3} Does time machines automatic backup, back up everything or do I need to do a manual back up for some thing?
4} Will I need to load new drivers for external devices such as my printer and mouse?
5} Will I need to reload third party soft ware such as Adobe Elements 9?
6} Will my bookmarks and homepage be saved in Safari?
Lot's of Questions, I have limited broad band width and will need to do most of this from a friends and internet cafes so I need to be prepared time wise and finanancialy as some things will have to be done at home and are going to push me into the next teir of my flex plan, possibly past the final teir.
Any and all advice will be appreciated.
    Pantheria

    1. You have a backup of your mailboxes in Time Machine that you can restore, but Mail won't modify your mailboxes during the upgrade. The first time you open Mail after the upgrade, it will upgrade your mailboxes to be able to work with that new version.
    2. If you upgrade from Snow Leopard, you should know that there's a newer iWork '09 version for Lion and Mountain Lion that make it compatible with iCloud, so you will have to install updates for iWork at least. Respecting to other apps, you have to consult it with the developer.
    3. Time Machine makes a backup of everything in your OS X partition, and it makes automatic, hourly backups. If you want, you can also make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility's Restore feature in another external disk. The advantage is that you can start the Mac from it.
    4. Theoretically, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion use the same printer drivers. Respecting to the mouse, if you are using a third-party mouse, you have to consult with the developer if your mouse is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
    5. Third-party apps won't be deleted unless they aren't compatible. See > http://www.roaringapps.com
After downloading OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make a bootable copy with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to download OS X Mountain Lion each time you have to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion

  • Upgrade service error after ZFD3 SP3 to ZFD4.01 upgrade

    Hi,
Having upgraded from ZFD3.2 SP3 to ZFD4.01 and carefully following the
documentation instructions I still get the following error on the Inventory
    Service startup screen:
"The Upgrade Service is migrating the schema
An error has occurred. The upgrade service is exiting now."
The Inv Srv object Server Status log says:
"1178: An error occured while performing the DBSchema migration
1177: Unable to complete all the operations, the upgrade service is exiting
    with errors.
106: The Storer succesfully connected to the database
108:the database in not initialized as it is being upgraded"
All of these errors on the support site have as a fix either restart the
    Inventory Service or contact Novell.
I've spent some hours now looking for a fix on Knowledgebase and in the Zen
forums but can't find anything useful. This is the second time I've run the
upgrade and this problem has occurred. I've reinstalled Zen3.2 from scratch,
    applied SP1 and SP3.
I've checked policies and database objects, all appears as it should be.
These seem to be the relevant errors from the log files:

  • Bootcamp and Windows XP/7 Install Questions

I got an iMac a few months back and want to set up BootCamp for a Windows install.
I have a Windows XP Full install disk w/the product key.
I also have a Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
From what I have read, the newest version of Bootcamp will not install XP, which I could then upgrade to W7 (I assume this is correct).
Can I then install from the Windows 7 Upgrade disk and at some point indicate the XP Product Code?
Secondary question - assuming I get Windows installed and running properly, if I boot to the Mac OS, can it see/access the Windows partition?
    Thanks,
    Steve

If the Windows 7 Upgrade is a full install. What you would do is install, then reinstall over itself. And only then will it activate.
There are upgrades that are to go from Home Premium to Pro and that isn't a full install.
Windows 8 CP is free and works.
Windows 7 System Builder are $99 for Home Premium 64-bit

  • Exchange 2007 SP3 Install on 2008R2 Fails with "The data passed to a system call is too small"

I'm installing Exchange 2007 SP3 onto Server 2008 R2. I have run this install in compatibility mode and in normal install mode with the same results. Error code 3221684346: The data area passed to a system call is too small. I am installing directly from
the SP3 files, this is not an upgrade. What do I have to do to get this to work?

I would probably rebuild the host machine. The Exchange installation should occur without any issues, and where a problem does occur that can be an indication of a more widespread problem. Rebuild the machine, reinstall the prerequisites and try again.

    Hello Poster.
I am having the same issue, however it is most likely NOT a host box problem. The above advice is not a fix. I have 3 servers that are cloned with the same setup. 2 were fixed by doing the Vista compatibility trick, this one gave a different error (which
happened to be the same as above). This org was a 5.5 to 2000. to 2003 coexistence with 2007 currently(because the mailbox role won't install). It has something to do with AD or permissions. Server 2008 r2 inherently has problems installing exchange.
Example, having to use vista compatibility to get the mailbox role to install. SP2 patch gives the same error to some people, and also doesn't upgrade the mailbox role properly in some cases. Some people have had luck restarting the IIS admin service, but
that did not solve my copy of this error. I will repost here if I find a solution to this issue...
Same exact setup log for me as well.

Just curious though, how long is your FQDN? Mine is 34 characters plus whatever exchange is adding to it during setup for this particular string. I found a post with the same error for ISA server and some buffer is only 100 characters for a system call.
