Zfd4 in nw6.0 -- nw6.5

Hi
Scenario:
A NW6.0 sp5 server with:
zfd4 and middletier configured in port 8888, apache1 (adminserv.conf in
OS address space)
gw webacces 6.0.X configured in port 80, apache1. (gwwebup in GW address
space)
So, we update to NW6.5 sp5:
-GW address space is not allowewd, so i try to starts all in OS adress
space. Don't works.
-I update gw web access to apache2 (ap2webup in OS address space), so
when i starts middle tier, i get:
Syntax error on line 151 of
sys:/apache/conf\adminserv.conf:
API module structure `jk_module' in file sys:/apache/modules/mod_jk.nlm
is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module
DSO?
I get this, because mod_jk.nlm from apache2 is running. If i stops
apache2 and unload mod_jk.nlm, then nvxadmup, middle tier works fine. And
viceversa, if i starts middle tier, i can't start apache2 for webacces.
I need help, please. Thank you.

Hi again
I resolve the issue starting gw webaccess in apache2 in another address
space and starting zen4 in apache1 with nvxadmup command.

  • NW5/ZfD3 -- NW6.5/ZfD4: What to expect for Zen?

The NetWare upgrade I have covered, but I was wondering what will be
    involved in the Zenworks portion.
The NetWare upgrade will be done via the Migration Wizard, so the new
server takes over the Name/ServerID/etc. of the old one.
I already know ZfD3 wil NOT work with NW6.5, so I assume that ZfD will all
be shut down during the Migration, then afterwards we will be doing the
    ZfD3-->4 upgrade.
Can anyone tell me more specifically what will be involved in the ZfD
upgrade portion and/or point me towards the appropriate (free) resources?
    Thank You,

  • "unable to connect to the database. retrying"

    Hi,
I have ZFD4 on a NW6 server, and have not had the required ammount of time
to implement in full and work on it...
However, It was installed a while ago, and was working fine and left
    running.
I cannot get any Inventory/scan data from any of the workstation objects
though. In Console 1, it tells me to Configure DB. If I try this, it gives
the error cannot connect to DB.
On the console, the Inventory service reports "unable to connect to the
    database. retrying..."
How do I resolve this? The Sybase adaptive server anywhere 7.0.2.15 is up
    and running...
    HELP!
    TIA

  • Migrating to NW6.5 and Zfd32

Afer a migration from NW5.1 to NW6.5, I've noticed that ZfD3.2 does not work
anymore. I was told by Novell that I would have to reinstall the product.
    My question is:
    1) Is ZfD32 support by NW6.5 (although 2 of the servers are still NW5.1)?
    2) How do I uninstall ZfD32 or reinstall ZfD32?
    3) If it's not supported and not working, we have ZfD4, should I try to
uninstall ZfD32 or just try to do a upgrade over the existing version.
    Thanks
    Jon

The Application Launcher doesn't come up, the policies are no longer
working. So I thought I should try to reinstall 3.2 before I try to do a
    4.0 upgrade.

  • Unable to delete file on NW6.5 sp8.

    I'm unable to delete a file on a NW6.5 sp8 server.
This is only a copy, so it's not mission critical, but it's starting to frustrate the hell out of me!
A colleague was given a helpdesk problem about a misbehaving pdf, he made a copy of the pdf in a different directory to do some testing but now finds that he cannot delete this copy!
I've tried deleting it using Windows Explorer, Dos, Filer.Exe, Console One, and possibly one or 2 others. I get various errors but they all seem to infer that either I'm using a user who doesn't have the necessary rights (I'm using our standard admin user, so that shouldn't be the problem) or that the file is in use by others. Using the JRBUtil 'Openfile.exe', I find that the file is being used by 4 instances of my admin user.
If I try and disconnect these instanceswith 'Openfile.exe', I get confirmation that the connections have been terminated, but I'm still not able to delete the file. If I go back to 'Openfile.exe' it tells me that the same 4 connections (same connection numbers throughout) are still in use! If I try to close the connections using the Console Monitor then it appears to close the connections, they disappear from the list and if I re-check then they are still not visible, but if I go back to 'Openfile.exe' then it reports that the connections are still current! I've tried using iManage to close the connections, but with no success!
The server in question is our main data server so the chances of rebooting it just because it 'may' fix this problem is unlikely to happen.
Again it's only a copy and not mission critical, but it would be good to find an answer to this. So, is there a command or utility that will just delete a file when asked?
    Many thanks
    Ian.

If the server thinks the file is open / locked, you will not be able to
delete it without resolving that first. You could try dismounting the
volume, which should force the OS to close the file.
    David
I think that it is this open / locked issue that is causing the problem. The idea of dismounting the volume sounds like a less brutal version of my original idea of having to reboot the server to clear the connections.
However, as I said to Tom above, I've got to try and get this past the server admin, and as this is only a copy on our main data server which is in constant use, I'm not sure that I'll get permission to try this. Unfortunately I think that I may have to accept that I'll have to wait until the server is taken down for a more important reason. Frustrating, but that's life.
So, thanks to all who replied and for the suggestions. I'll certainly log them for future use, so if nothing else this has been a good learning experience for me.

  • PI7.1 JMS Adapter - connect to NW6.40

    Hello,
We are facing following problem on SAP PI:
We have a scenario where PI (version 7.1) is connecting to another SAP NetWeaver system (version 6.40).  There is an application that reads/puts messages from/to JMS Queues running on this system. PI has to connect the JMS Provider of 6.40 system and read/put these messages from/to these JMS Queues.
This scenario worked fine till we used XI 3.0 (NW6.40). We configured sender JMS channel with link to remote JMS Server and parameter "force_remote".
After installation of new PI7.1 we noticed some issues:
1.the connection is unstable. Sending JMS messages from PI to NW6.40 queue works a while but then we get error like this:
Adapter Framework caught exception: Unable to write new JMS message body for message: 00237d29-13fc-02ed-ba85-01d046631592: ConnectorException: Connector for ConnectionProfile of channel: EON_CC_jms_rcv_omsmessageon node: 922834950 having object id: 70855b1c6c483e869982ea2fe9787b36 was unable to create a new javax.jms.TextMessage message: javax.jms.IllegalStateException: Session is closed.
    2. we cannot read messages from JMS Queue of NW6.40 at all. The messages are there in queue, communication channel is running and succesfully connected to queue but no message is processed and no error shows in communication channel monitoring.
Has anybody solve similar problem with connection between 7.1 and 6.40 NetWeaver?
I think the problem can be backward incompatibility of 7.1 SAP JMS libraries against 6.40. If this is true then the question is whether it is possible to deploy old libraries and run them simultaneously with native 7.1 libraries?
    Thanks

problem sorted - factory property settings were not configured correctly in JMS Adapter connection pool

It looks like the Mig utility can't run ncpmig.nlm on the source server for whatever reason. The previous steps completed successfully so I don't think it's an issue of login rights. The OES2 SP2 server is fully patched with all critical and optional patches. I'd like to add that I've done a couple migrations in my test lab prior to this and they both went through smoothly. I'm also following the exact same steps I used when I performed the lab migrations.
I've also tried the same migration using OES2 SP1 (fully patched and not), OES2 SP2 (non-patched) and OES2 SP3 (patched and not) with the exact same error message. This leads me to believe it's something in the source server causing the issue but I can't, for the life of me, figure out what.
Source server is running NW6.5 SP8 and eDir 8.7.3.10. Target server is OES2 SP2 and eDir 8.8.5 HP6. Does anyone have insight into why the Transfer ID is failing at the DIB copy? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late reply. Been extremely busy with our migrations and other issues. To answer the last question, our default administrator login to the tree is not called admin. We prefer not to use default names as they decrease security. I used my own login credentials, which also has full rights to the tree, to proceed with the migration. Determined, as a precaution, that the person performing the migration should add him or herself as a trustee to the source/destination servers AND the container the server objects live in. It's probably a redundant step but should decrease the likelihood of encountering the original issue.

  • Latest ZEN 7 Version for NW6.5?

    Hi,
i'm a bit lost about latest Version Numbering of Zen7 for NW6.5 Servers, because i have some Issues about imaging and i'm not sure about my current Version.
Is Imaging Server Version V.7.0.1 the latest one?
Or what is the current "Update/Servicepack/Hotfix/IR" Version for ZEN to install on a Netware 6.5 Server Cluster?
    Novell ZENworks 7 SP1 Suite Release 4?
    Regards
    Thomas

"Novell ZENworks 7 SP1 Suite Release 4" is the same as plain SP1.
The only real difference is some of the bundled products are updated.
    ZDM7 SP1 IR4a HP3 is the latest patch.

  • NW6.0 SP5 NFA - CIFS...

Hmmm.... a blast from the very distant past I'm afraid...
Does anyone have any recollections of the stability of CIFS under NW6.0 SP5?
For my sins I am involved in a migration project and one of the co-existence strategies we are looking at is enabling CIFS.... The client has both cluster and standalone servers, and we'd be looking to use domain authentication
So, any thoughts on server and/or cluster resource enabling volumes with cifs would be recommended
    Many thanks!
    David

With the latest and last NSS/CIFS updates for 6.0 I'd expect it to be reasonably stable. Scaling is another thing, though.

  • External Citrix connection slow after NW6.5sp8 update

After updating our PROXY server to NW6.5sp8, our users connection to an external Citrix server is extremely slow. They are using the Citrix XenApp client v.11.0.0.5357. Server also has BM3.8sp5 installed.

Yeap, that is right, we had the same problem among others with for example the combination nw65sp8+TCPIP for NW65SP8 29012010 and bm39sp2+ir1. The problem is the TCP Stack. The only way to get rid of this problem is to downgrade TCP Stack to the original one of nw65sp6. We had also a support call with novell about this problem that took more then a year and at the end -> Netware and Bordermanager goes END OF LIVE!!

  • NSBS 6.5 SP1 to NW6.5 SP6

Hi there... can somebody help me to clarify this?
I have a Novell Small Business Suite 6.5 SP1 and need to update to NW6.5 SP6 (may be to SP7 afterward). Can I download the 'regular' SP6 patch from below and directly apply it to my NSBS 6.5 SP1?
NOVELL: Downloads - NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 6
    Many thanks.

overlay CD corresponding to the support pack you use.

Does it no longer have separate setups for the various network protocols? Look in Options > Advanced > Network > Settings.

  • Migrate Physical NW6.5 to VM ESXI with Portlock

I am looking to consolidate my windows and Netware servers on one box
running VMware ESXI. Does anyone have experience moving physical to virtual
using Portlock. They claim to make it simple as pie. Will the source
server stay up and running? Will Netware automatically reconfigure for the
new machine? The server hardware boxes are matching. Running NW6.5 sp5
    Thanks

Thanks, I give a try once the new server comes (old one really bought on
ebay) I'll sell once the process is done
