Hello all,
Just a heads up, File Browser for PlayBook will shortly be getting an update that will allow the users to zip and unzip files. Network browsing is planned for the update after this one (free upgrade ofcourse).

I believe (although I don't want to put words in his mouth) that Madan has run across a similar problem that I am trying to solve.
For instance if I have the following files:
c:\pic1.gif
c:\pic2.gif
c:\pic3.gifand I zip them in to a file called: pics.zip the will unzip just fine.
However, if I have them in a directory:
c:\pics\pic1.gif
c:\pics\pic2.gif
c:\pics\pic3.gifA listing of the zip files (all using java of-course) will show the files and dirs correctly:
\pics\pic1.gif
\pics\pic2.gif
\pics\pic3.gifbut will give the following error if you try to un-zip them:
"The system cannot find the path specified"The ZipEntry class has an 'isDirectory()' method, but it only returns true in the case of an EMPTY directory. If , as in my example, there is an actual file at the end of the entry, it returns false.
So, at least in my case, I would be looking for advice on how to expand files that reside in directories within the zip file.

Third party component for zipping and unzipping using password

I am working on a project wherein i have to zip and unzip a file using password .I downloaded a java component ,but was unable to efficiently unzip my zip files using password.
Can any body suggest me a java library/component that will accept a file and do zipping and unzipping with a password.
I will also be really grateful ,if somebody suggest me a component that would do the same above functionality using Streams.

Zip 7 says there is no default email program. How do I make gmail my default email program so i can zip and mail files using zip 7.

There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install a program or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. There is no mail program in the default programs control panel. There's no file to associate with it.
I'm getting very frustrated. I have school files that need to be emailed and I can't figure this zip7 out

Thank you for your question. I understand that you need to set up a default mail program to mail zip 7 files.
In the Control Panel of your operating system there are file extensions that you can set a default program to use for mailing.

Attaching .zip and .sitx files

It seems that attaching .zip and .sitx files is not supported in this new forum. Is this correct?
Also I could not find a "Forum Support" link where I could have posted this. The one near the top of the page on the left in the black rectangle, seems to be for products tech support and not for the forum. Or did I miss something?

Download Adobe Reader past network firewall AV block of zipped and encrypted files?

I'm having a problem downloading Adobe Reader because our Sonicwall AV settings apparently don't allow zipped and encrypted files into the network.
I 'd rather not change firewall settings if there is another way to get this done. Thanks...anyone?

Does that also happen if you download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

as of now I have did for all the domains or users.However, I want to unblock it only for some particular/specific users and for rest it should block.

It sounds like you just need to use different incoming mail policies per group of individuals you want to block/drop .rar and .zip and those which you don't want this to happen.
The fact that you want a specific group to be allowed receipt of these and everyone else should have these blocked I would recommend creating an additional incoming mail policy that does NOT have a content filter that performs this blocking. Add the appropriate users to this incoming mail policy. Then create a incoming content filter that does this dropping of .rar and .zip files and apply this to the Default Incoming Mail Policy.
The content filter in this situation would not need a condition, just a action of strip attachments by file info , filename contains .rar or .zip
Here is a useful regex for the content filter action: (?i)\.(zip|rar)

There are apps that will let you drag and drop files from the computer to the iPad. I have an app called File Manager Folder + that will let you drag and top files and also transfer them via WiFi. It's a pretty useful app actually.

Zipping and downloadings files

I'm fairly new to flex builder and I could really use some help. I don't think what I want to do is so unusual but I'm not finding any samples (that work) so I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I have a flex web application that allows the user to to choose multiple files to download. I would like to zip these files into one zip file and download that to the users machine to whatever folder and file name they choose. Does anyone have an example of doing this or something similar? It is the zipping of the files into one that I'm have a problem with. I believe I have found solutions for allowing the user to browse and download a file but if anyone has any samples I would really appreciate it. I've been struggling with this for over a week now and not getting anywhere at all and I need to have this done by the end of this month.

Problems on zipping and unzipping class files

I am trying to add a class file to a new jar file using FileInputStream and JarOutputStream.
I am getting a very unique problems.
when I read a class file using FileInputStream from my local hard disk I am getting 30 bytes less than then actual file size (the difference in bytes is exactly 30 bytes for any file, either class or xml or java, I dont understand this concept). after reading the contents I am writing the bytes read to a jar file using JarOutputStream. This all gets done fine. But when I extract the class file written into the jar file and try to run the class it is giving me the exception as follows:

The classpath to the folder from where I am running the file is set. I have double checked the classpath.

A "magic number" is a short sequence of data at the beginning of a file used to identify the file. ".class" files, for instance, always start with OxCA, 0xFE, 0xBA and 0xBE.
If the 30 bytes missing are at the beginning of your file, there's nothing suprising in getting a "ClassFormatError" exception.
I think we should concentrate on your first problem. Can you post the code used to add the class file, please?

Downloads of zip and other files are taking a very long time.

Prior to this week, downloads of zip files and other types of files were pretty fast; however, downloads are suddenly taking a very long time (i.e. 30 minutes to download an album's worth of music files). It's possible that I may have deleted something that was necessary to download files quickly, but I'm not sure. Can anyone provide suggestions on how to get my download groove back? Thanks!
