  • Decompress ZIP file with Password

    Hi all,
Does anybody know how to decompress a ZIP file with password protection?
I have a decompress code, but I don't know how to insert the pass.
    Any solution?

I'm running out of suggestions over here.
Your exact command line yields this result:
zip warning: name not matched: in.txt
zip error: Nothing to do! (out.zip)
Well, it should, as I don't have an in.txt. Handing it an existing file, I get this:
    zip -P pass out.zip result.txt
      adding: result.txt (deflated 7%)
.. and opening in the Finder correctly prompts me:
so there must be something wrong with your system.
Very Long Shot: What version do you get when you type this? (I can't imagine this is the actual problem, but you never know.)
    zip --version

  • Pages 5.2 file is password protected but doesn't ask for password and is locked and not accessible.

    MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.2, Pages 5.2
File is password protected but when I go to open it I'm not asked for password and therefore the file can't be opened.  It shows up in the list of files as locked.  I have opened this file with the password many times, but now I can't open it.

I just got it to work...sorry for the message!

  • Can a file be password protected using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard?  No one seems to have answered this question in the trending questions.

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat because it was recommended to password protect files.
However, when I checked out the Tools > Protection > Encrypt>  "Encrypt with Password" is greyed out.
Can a file be password protected using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard?
The OS version is Windows 7.

    Thanks.

Yes, it can.  Use File > Properties, and click the Security tab. Click Change, and set what you need. When the file is saved, the security is set.
BE SURE TO KEEP THE ORIGINAL FILE TOO.

my adobe account was hacked and compromised, emails were sent out on one of my accounts.  I changed my adobe password, when I scan my computer, some adobe files are password protected and can not be scanned, is this normal?

I have contacted them, but apart from letting them look at it and deal with it, is there anything I can personally do myself? Or is it just a matter of waiting for me now?

  • I can't open number files with password protection?

I am using OSX 10.9.4 with Numbers 3.2.2 (1878) and have one file which is password protected. While opening the file with Numbers, it prompts for the password after correct entry I receive the friendly message: "xxx" can't be opened.  That's it.
    Any solution out there?
    Thanks, Hansjoerg

Your observation seems to be right because it was not the first time I recognized this effect. However, it is bitter to see that professional SW like Numbers can't hangle this option (password protection) correctly. It might have to do with the fact that the data file from Numbers is actually not a single file but a container with lost of files an subdirectories. Why the **** they make it so complex?
Anyway, many thanks for your hint. I hope to find a tool which can correct those corrupted Number-files.

  • PDF Files are password protected.  I never set a password

There are a lot of pdf files in the document section.  Must be book or magazine pages as they are titled "page101.pdf" and so on with a date underthem.
I tried to open one to see what it was and I got a "password protected" and a box to enter my password.  I never set a password for this app.  I tried using my Adobe password and my google password to no avail.
How can I open them to see what they are?
    Thanks.
    Janet in NJ

The request for a password has absolutely nothing to do with a password for the application or any relationship to your Google password.
The message password protected refers to the PDF file that you are trying to open. Apparently, whoever created the PDF file either a PDF file creation or subsequently password protected the PDF files. You will need to contact whoever supplied those PDF files to you to obtain whatever the password is or passwords are.

  • Can time machine files be password protected?

My college-aged daughter has a Macbook Pro and a portable external hard drive (Mini-G) that she uses as a back up drive with Time Machine. I am concerned that if she lost her external drive or if it were stolen, the files on the drive would be accessible to anyone (I can get to them with my MBP). The computer itself is password protected but the back up drive is not. Does anyone know how I can password-protect the drive or do something else for security?
    Thanks

the mac way to do this is to enable filevault on her home directory. then the home directory will be kept in an encrypted disk image which nobody can open without a password. same will be true for the backups of that home directory on the TM drive. but filevault has some unpleasant limitations for TM. you can't use TM interface to restore files ina filevaulted home directory and it's only backed up when you log out.
the only other option is to use full disk encryption like PGP.
I think it works with Time machine but I'm really not sure on this.

It seems that this was raised as a request for enhancement and this still shows as "in progress". But I'm pretty sure that there is no progress on this issue. What you could do is, go through the links posted in there regarding the zip file format and write your own classes.

  • Zip files with passwords

I recently created a zip file from a folder with photos. When I send this via email the recipients cannot open the file it ask for a password. I thought maybe it was because the recipient was using windows but since I have parallels on my machine I thought I would pull the file over to parallels windows and it refuses to do it. Any one have an idea that will help. I am new to the mac operating system.

No I did not create a password and yes there is the .zip extension.
I zipped the file due to the number of photos in the folder. My mac mail program only lets you attach photos individually and there was quite a few photos to send.
What I don't get is why I cant drag a photo file into windows parallels. Each time i get a message saying it "cant copy the file: cannot read from source file or disk" this file is on my desktop on the mac side.

  • Zip file with password using an applescript

    Hi all;
I want zip a file with a password using an apple script. The problem is that I'll run the command
    zip -ejr outfile infile
but how do I submit the password to the terminal?
I don't want the terminal to be visible during the process so I'm using this command:
tell application "Terminal" to do shell script sh
where sh is the command I want to run.
    Thank you!

  • Zipped files on JDeveloper CD

I am unable to unzip the JDevloper files. Ask me for my password, and the password is not accepted. I have the Oracle9i Jdeveloper Preview CD

The zip files are password protected.
You'll need to follow the direction in the install.htm file to get the password to unlock them.
Also - the 9i preview is a very old version - you should probably just get the latest 10g version from OTN instead:

  • Password for a zip file

    Dear,
We have a procedure which compress and email a file (account stmt) to 100s of customers daily. Please give idea on protecting that zip file with password before emailing.
It is something similar to credit cared statement where only the recipient should able to open.
I have searched in many sites, it seems it is possible by Unix but we need in PL/SQL
    Thanks in advance
