Zipping troubles

I was using a PC runnung windows XP, and I zipped some data via 'compressed folder'. the resulting file had a .zip extension, so I emailed it to myself, and now when usin an emac running 10.3.9, I cannot use the finder to unarchive it. is there another way? this information is vital for a report I need to give.

648max USB2.0 trouble with Epson 2400 scanner

It seems to be impossible to use an EPSON scanner Perfection 2400 Photo 2.0 with a system based on a 648max, the preview works but when you try to scan, you "loose" the signal. If you disabled the USB2.0 function in BIOS, all works OK.
As OEM we can easily change components, so we tried with another 2 mainboards (648max and 648max-F) with the same results, the bios is update to 1.4 version.
The operating system is WinXPHome so there is no driver update from SiS or Microsoft for USB2.0.
The scanner with the same cables and drivers (original CD or update from Epson web) works correctly with a VIA-based (athlon) USB2.0 mainboard, so we can say that the scanner is fine.
I'm sure there is a BIOS issue, because the 1.4 version talk about a USB ZIP trouble.

Silly question, but is the version of XP Home that you use on the 648Max upograded to SP1? I dont think XP had 2.0 functionality til then.
Another thing you may want to try is to run the scanner through a powered hub, or even try a USB 2.0 add on card. If it works through a powered hub it may be a onboard power issue. If it works with an add-on USB 2.0 card then it may well be a BIOS or design issue.

Decoding attachment names in mail

The method MimeUtility.decodeText() does also not seem to change anything in the result. Can anybody help or tell me a place to find some answers to this encoding stuff, it seems to me that I do not really understand what's behind it.

Or am I still missing something, is such an encoding of file name common practise? Haven't at the very least seen it this way, so far...

Having trouble with reception @ ZIP 80247

Having trouble with reception @ ZIP 80247. Used to get 4G with no issues but, for the last couple of months I get 3G if I am lucky and even voice is problematic, with frequent dropped calls.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and so does my wife. We've been using these phones for quite a while, and the problem is somewhat recent. Problem is indoors and outdoors. We not only rebooted the phone multiple times, but we also went to a Verizon store where they switched our SIM cards, stating that older SIM cards might have been the culprit, not surprisingly that didn't help either.
The phones are not the problem, since they work perfectly in other parts of the city. Problem is around my place, where I used to have good reception and have it no longer.

Trouble Backing up Files to Zip or Thumb. Error "Item .. already exists"

After years of trouble free backup, today when I tried to back up my files to a Zip and to a Thumb drive, every now and then I get the following error message " The item ___ cannot be written because an item with that name already exist. Do you want to stop/continue" Then no matter if I hit stop or continue, the backup just stops at that point. Any ideas?

First....welcome to the discussions area. When I get odd problems like this, I look for easy solutions first.
This is what I would do:
1. - Check to be sure that a file with at name is not already on the target disc (Zip or flash)
2. - I would rebuild the desktop file of the main computer.
(Look under the help menu, you hold down the apple and option keys <2 keys> at start-up.
3. - I would rebuild the desktop file of the disk you want to save to. To do this, hold down the apple and option keys when inserting zip or plugging in flash.. This will allow you to rebuild the desktop file of the target device.
4. - If these tips don't work another work around is to open the file you are having trouble with.....then do a save as and select the zip or flash.
I suspect that one of the above solutions will do the trick.........HTH.........mGb.........Jim

Trouble with Documentation ZIP File for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6)

I downloaded E23943_01.zip, which is the 2.5 GB documentation set for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6), WebLogic 10.3.6. WinZip will not open the ZIP file due to this error: too many entries in central directory according to end of central directory info. My other ZIP programs report essentially the same error as WinZip.
When I first encountered the error, I assumed my download did not complete correctly; but I downloaded it three times, with the same error. All three downloads had the same file sizes, and I even binary-compared two of them, which were identical.
I am suspicious that the source E23943_01.zip file on Oracle's site is corrupt. Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?

Trouble compressing Qtime to mp4.zip

Hello out there,
Ihave a Qtime movie 16.3MB and need to compress for email. I Control-clickd the file and selected "create archive of..." and created the mp4.zip file. The problem is the file did not compress. It remains at 16.3MB which exceeds the 10MB limit on the size of email files which can be sent through my yahoo acct.

Don't know what settings you used in the file that could have made it larger in size. No matter.
I use my iDisk to send large files (just email a link to it).
You can also send files using iChat (no file size limit).
Last, there are dozens of servers that allow upload/download of "private" files. Their limits go up to GB's and usually small files like yours are free.
Sorry I don't have any names or links of these services as I don't use them.

Trouble with Zip Files

I have been having problems with Expanding Zip Files, When I double click them I usually get an empty folder, Once I double clicked a Zip File and got 1 file i then double clicked again and got 2 files, I did it a third time and got 5 files, eventually I got all the files needed to run the program after several more times unziping.
I downloaded the "ParticleIllusion" Demo from http://www.wondertouch.com/
When I double clicked that i got nothing after a few times of re-downloading and trying to unzip the file I checked this discussion board for some answers and got nothing.
I then right clicked the file (I'm using a mighty mouse) and chose "Open With" I had 2 options 1. Stuffit Expander (default) and 2. BOMArchiveHelper (What ever that is) so I chose that, The Zip file decompressed perfectly first time!
I dont know what the program is, Who makes it, Or where it came from, All I know is It worked.

I'm having trouble excluding iPhoto from a zip backup

I'm backing-up my son's MacBook Pro and I've been able to zip all of his data, but the resulting zip file is very, very large. I'd like to exclude iPhoto from the backup, but cannot figure out the correct sequence of characters to get the exclude to work. The beginning part of the command works: zip -r -v -9 Backups/KevDocs00 Pictures/*
It's the extra piece of the command I cannot figure out. I've tried:

I don't really understand your question/statement.
I zipping a few folders on my sons MacBookPro, then my desktop will copy that zip file to my desktop where it will be part of my usualy backup process.

Trouble opening LicenseRecovery109.zip

I have downloaded the licensing repair file for windows from http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing_download_eula.html, but can't now open the LicenseRecovery109.zip that I downloaded. The error message says it is because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. Now what?!

With what packing tool are you trying to unzip the file? Also make sure that your virus scanner is not deep-scanning the file or blocking it because ZIP files of course also may contain malicious stuff...

Your version is 1.XX and according to MSI, you cannot update to ver 3.XX and that's why you get the Invalid format message.

Try this:
Remove old Killer LAN driver (Killer performance suite) from Windows control panel, and install the latest version 1.1.53.1484 from killer webiste:

I am having trouble downloading zip files from an e-mail to Firefox and want to know if Firefox is where I should be downloading the zip file.

I have never downloaded a file from an e-mail, so I am "dancing in the dark" on this. When I download the file from the e-mail, I cannot determine what support engine I should place it in. One choice given me was Microsoft Work Words but when I select it, I can go no further.

When I drag an image from one project to another it just moves to the other project - no special preference settings required.
If there are several versions of the same image, all versions go along with the image.
If the images are stacked, all versions and all of the stack move to the new project.
Only if images are synched with other services, iCloud, MobileMe then occasionally they appear again in their original albums. Are your images part of synched albums?

Why are you trying to import BPM zip file are you trying to configure the out of the box workflows?
They are something that need to be deployed from the process admin on BPM.
There would be the .exp file you would need as its BPM 10g that you would need to use.
