Zire 31 Expansion Card Issue

I have loaded an application on my device, ("Directions on the go"). The application synched/loaded fine from the PC. The instructions with the app say to run it on the Zire once and then copy the data & maps to the expansion card. I'm using a Lexar 128MB SD card which I formatted. When I try to run the app, it errors with, "please insert a memory card containing an area". Is there a way to put an "area" on the card. This is not addressed in the Zire manual at all. The app requirements state it needs a memory expansion card with at least 8MB of free memory. The Zire reads the card fine with the card info program. I'm not 100% positive that the card is a functional one since I have never used it and it came with the used Zire that I bought online. Is this app looking for another type of card? I just bought this handheld and obviously have no experience with it. Can someone shed any light on the issue please? I'm

Did you format the card in the Zire or on the computer? If it was on the computer, it should be formatted in FAT not FAT32. You may want to format the card in the Zire.
Not sure what the "area" it is referring to, this may be something the developer of the program may need to answer.
Make sure the card is a standard SD card.

After my last not so Hot Sync, my device is not talking to my Micro SD card.  It can see it when I look in Card Info, but it will not access the card for my files or music, nor will it let me format it or rename it.  Am I intellectually challeneged or did the phone go poof?
    Thanks,

YAHM - Yet Another Hack Manager. A control utility for so called 'hacks' management: activating, deactivating, beaming and deleting. Note: this app cannot run old style hack under PalmOS5. Only new hacks, written for ARM processor can be run under this OS version. See enclosed docs for further info.
Paranoid Security Hack for Palm OS 5 (PSHack) - This hack allows you to prevent someone from exiting a particular application without having your system password. In order for this to work on a Centro, you need to have access to the "command bar". The command bar is made available with FieldPlus above or other applications like Butler. If you have a system password that has a special character, then use the "alert" instead of the form" input method. This is enabled and configured in YAHM. To activate the lock, press and hold the "menu" key and click the clock icon to lock the currently opened application.

  • Expansion card for Zire 31+ the file pdb.

    Dear Madam/Sir.
I own a palm one handheld Zire 31 and I purchase an SD expansion card of 2.0 GB witch should fit, but my handheld does not recognize the card, what should I do? my second question is it necessary to download the file with the pdb suffix in order to add any Software? Thanks and best regards Gidi.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
A 2GB expansion card will probably not work in the Zire 31.  That model is limited to 1 GB cards.  You might want to review this thread on the subject.
A .pdb file is a data file, whereas a .prc is an application file.  What exactly are you referring to?

  • USB 2.0 expansion card/ System sleep issues

I have a Mac dual G4 1.25GHz system. I have 1.2 GB RAM and am running OS 10.3.9. I recently installed an Iogear USB 2.0 expansion card. If I have anything plugged into any of the USB ports on the card, the system will go into sleep, but not deep sleep (the fan continues to run). It will NOT come out of sleep mode. I have to press and hold the start button on the front of the machine to restart.
If nothing is plugged into the expansion USB ports, the system operates normally. I would like to keep devices plugged into the USB 2.0 ports. Any solutions, answers? Thanks

    wow - this is bizarre...
I have an iogear card in my G4 867 and no problems... Been running it for about 3 months, and leave peripherals plugged in... Though I turn off anything plugged in... Did you set Energy Saver to "never"...? I tried a Belkin card and had problems with it, but the iogear works like a charm... My computer specs are below - maybe something in there is different...?

  • Expansion Card

I received a new Zire 31 as a gift recently and realized my expansion card from my old Tungsten E, although it fits in the slot, does not work.  How can I listen to my songs again?  Thanks for your advice.

What size is the SD card? The Zire 31 is too old (2004) to recognize any of the larger SD cards currently available formatted with FAT32. It will only recognize cards formatted with FAT16, and limits the card to 1G I believe if my memory serves correctly. Remember when this device was being sold the largest SD cards generally available were 512M.
The other question is do you have a media player on this device to play audio files?

  • KT4 Ultra: conflict w/ expansion cards

This is my first post, so please be gentle. I recently built new PC for photo editing and want to keep this old KT4 Ultra computer for general usage right beside. Both are running Windows XP Home SP3.
My KT4 computer had HDD crash and after replacement and fresh istallation of XP I initially had following expansion cards inside:
USB Expansion card (w/ 4 USB ports) on Slot 2 (INT B#)
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC on Slot 3 (INT D#)
Terratec EWX 24/96 Sound Card on Slot 6 (INT C#)
Everything was OK until I wanted a LAN connection for sharing of files (mostly) and Internet (via cable modem) between these two. Instead of a broadband wired router I opted for a Gigabit Ethernet card installing it on slot 5 (INT B#).
USB Expansion card (w/ 4 USB ports) on Slot 2 (INT B#)
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC on Slot 3 (INT D#)
D-Link DGE-528T Gigabit Ethernet Adapter on Slot 5 (INT B#)
Terratec EWX 24/96 Sound Card on Slot 6 (INT C#)
Somehow didn't want to have it on slot 1, so close to video card. Unfortunately after this the sound card was dropped by the system, a yellow question mark in Device Manager.
Further I failed to instal my Bluetooth Dongle which I earlier had used succesfully for communication to my mobile phone. Now my Broadcom USB Bluetooth Device is put under Unknown in Device Manager.
I did experience problems with the sound card several years ago in this very same PC. That time I knew little about system and BIOS setting and had to use another PC for audio purposes (digitalizing of tapes and vinyl).
As reference I used the PCI Interrup Request Routing table, found on page 2-32 in KT4's manual. Funny thing is that Sandra XI tells now that my two Ethernet cards having both INT pin A# while by their slots they should be B# and D#. I don't have true understanding what this means though. In BIOS the PNP/PCI Configurations has all slot IRQs on Auto.
Is this conflict easily cured by re-positioning card(s) on other slot(s) or addressing IRQ settings manually, and if so how and in which order? Or should I remove all the cards and install them in certain order...?
I'm quite exhausted as I had some component issues with my new PC and now this KT4 once again rejects my sound card. Maybe I'm better off by installing it on my new PC, but then this failure with Bluetooth dongle, (which I put on the USB port of KT4, not on the USB exp. card.) Oh my, why can't sound card and ethernet card live together!?!
I would appreciate your help very highly.

Hope you get things like you want them!
Eh, made this in 2003, but I'm not sure if it isn't more confusing than anything else:
"The use and sharing of IRQs aren't mentioned in my MSI manual, (due to the APIC function I think), so I had to go to some ASUS manuals. As standards are standards, I believe things can't be to different. If someone has any addings or suggestions please come forward, so I can adjust the table.
*Please note that this is generally speaking and mainly for ASUS boards a few years old!
**Please note that you should not have any sharing with the IDE controller or similar!
***Please note that it is a good thing to have expansion PCI sound cards in slot 3!
****Please note that surprisingly enough it looks like PCI slot 2 would be free for any device, but AGP cards get hot and bigger so it is not a great idea.
    IRQ sharing table
PCI 1 shares with PCI slot 5
2 shares with AGP and PCI slot 6, or sometimes with onboard IDE
3 shares not, or sometimes with onboard audio/modem
    4 shares with onboard LAN
    5 shares PCI slot 1
6 shares with AGP and PCI slot 5
AGP slot shares with PCI slots 5 and 6
USB 1 shares with USB 2, 3 and USB 2.0
    2 shares with USB 1, 3 and USB 2.0
    3 shares with USB 1, 2 and USB 2.0
    USB 2.0 shares with USB 1, 2, and 3
Onboard audio/modemshares not, or sometimes with slot 3
Onboard LAN shares with PCI slot 4
Onboard IDE shares not, or sometimes with PCI slot 2 "
Normally it is best to let Windows or whatever OS you run do the job. Setting IRQ:s yourself is a (too) big assignment.

  • Z87 XPower PCI_E2, Single Graphics Card plus Other Expansion Cards

A bit confused on the PCI-E expansion slots...
I seem to have read somewhere that it is preferential to place a single graphics card in PCI_E2 slot. Found a reference on a review:
"However for those using a single graphics card MSI recommends installing it in the second PCIe slot as this slot is connected directly to the CPU, meaning there is no latency lag as it bypasses the PEX 8747 chip"
However, the PCIe x16 Slots Bandwidth Table clearly shows only one "video card"  (any other pci-e expansion card, too?) is possible when taking advantage of PCI_E2:
                   E1    E2  E3   E5   E7
    Single:      0  x16    0     0     0
    2-Way:  x16     0    0  x16    0
    3-Way:   x8      0  x8  x16    0
    4-Way:   x8      0  x8    x8  x8
I picked up a pci-e OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 SSD 240GB and looking to use a N770 graphics card in PCI_E2... is this even possible? Ideally, I would choose to run the RevoDrive from PCI_E1.
From reading the table, I get "no".
I called MSI support, and 2 agents seemed to believe the PCIe x16 Slots Bandwidth Table only related to graphics cards ("The table below shows the correlation between the PCIe slots bandwidth and multiple
graphics cards."). Still waiting an official response to ticket(s). I spoke with the first before I began my graphic card installation, and the second after I installed and couldn't get the RevoDrive to show in any slot when the graphic card was installed in PCI_E2.
My experience is telling me I have a problem, and I have some decisions to make moving forward. Generally speaking:
    1. Is it possible to install a single graphics card in PCI_E2 to bypass the PEX 8747 chip and achieve x16 bandwidth, and still have another pci-e in another x8/x16 slot?
    2. What is more important for the video card: x16 bandwidth, or "latency lag as it bypasses the PEX 8747 chip"?
    3. The performance of the RevoDrive is outstanding (knock on wood... hoping I can keep this card running a long time considering the volume of drive failures experience with OCZ drives). I am considering my overall day-to-day usage and wondering if I might be better off ditching the RevoDrive or the graphic card... or (oh my, GOD!) another board....
It is easy for me to criticize engineering for overlooking this potential design consideration, yet it is an outstanding board. I should have been more aware when I read the 0-16-0-0-0 config details on the PCIe x16 Slots Bandwidth Table and the detail on the PEX 8747 chip. Once of the major items that attracted me to the XPower was the heap of features and pci-e expandability. Yet, all the PCI-E bandwidth and slots don't do me any justice if I can't config my install to optimize my system's components.
I would have a hard time trying to pick another to even try to replace the Z87 XPower (it would have to be Asus Z87-DELUXE).
What would I lose or gain in keeping the RevoDrive vs the graphic card? I initially began building this system around the RevoDrive, and I can't imagine wanting to keep the system without it.
    4. What am I sacrificing/gaining in having the graphic card in PCI_E1 and the RevoDrive in PCI_E5?
    5. With two different x16 pci-e components installed, and only one of them a graphic card, does the PEX 8747 chip latency become a non-issue? Is it still preferential to keep the graphic card in PCI_E2 position?
    PSU: Corsair AX1200i
    CPU: i7-4770k
    MOBO: Z87 XPower
VGA: MSI GTX N770 Lightning 2GB
    SSD: RevoDrive 3 x2 240GB
RAM: Generic 1333 (special ordered Corsair Dominator 2400MHz)
Thanks for any additional insight and clarity!

1: connecting a single card in PCI_E2 will bypass the PLX8747 but if you use one of the other slots for something it will start to use the PLX chips again to duplicate lanes!
2: PCI-E lanes are of very little importance as you will only see a .1 to 2FPS reduction in frame rate between x16 and x8. and less lag is similar in that regard too and will have very little noticeable difference!
3: it should make very little difference to either component and changing board makes in the z87 family lines would make very little difference too as to get higher expandability you need that PLX chip to sub divide the lanes and create a extra 16 fake lanes to allow more then 2 way SLI or 3 way Crossfire on the Z87 boards as the CPU's only have 16 lanes total!
4: not much! about a hundred nanoseconds of lag, maybe 1MBP/s less on the revo drive and .1 to 2 FPS less on the Graphics card...
5: no you would need them in the E1 and E5 positions and using the PLX chips as you will have problems and both may go into x8 using only the CPU's 16 lanes total if the Graphics card is in E2 or the revo drive may not function at all as the graphics card may hog all the PCI-E lanes....

  • Palm m505 won't recognize an expansion card

I have a Palm m505 with a mystery ebook expansion card that came with it. I insert it properly but hear no system sound. When I tap on the card icon, it says that there is no card inserted. I have not installed the Palm desktop, just trying out the unit. Why is this happening?. Also I want to get an sd card, will a photo type sd card be ok, also what is the megabyte limit the m505 will accept?  I am not much of a techie so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks, Ken.

This fixed a formatting problem with cards larger than 128 megs.
Do you have a card reader on your computer that will read the card?  It might just be defective!
Good luck finding a store that will work on a legacy Palm product!

  • Quick install - hot sync games to device not expansion card

Can I get quick install to hot sync pinball game directly to device instead of expansion card?
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

Yes, very easy to do!  In Quick Install, you are presented with two windows - the upper one is for tranferral to the Device, the bottom for the card.
I'm hazarding a guess here that the game you are trying to install is refusing to go to the device, correct?  If so, you may be trying to install a game for another OS, or the download is a compressed file (.zip or .exe).  Compressed files have to be unpacked on your computer first to get the Palm OS files (.prc or .pdb).
Once the files have been extracted from the zip, you can then double-click on them to send them to Quick Install.

  • SD Card Issues and Sound Issues

    Hello all,
I bought my Xperia Z2 probably 2-3 months ago and I have to say I do love this phone.
However I have come across a few issues that seems to be, not so common as I cannot find any solutions online (Which is why I'm here).
    I am having 2 issues:
    1st Issue:
SD Card Issue, this is a funny one as I have not been able to identify what actually causes this issue. Now this all started (or when I started to realise the issue) when I changed some settings in the Camera App. I saw that it was saving photos to "Internal Storage" and since I specifically bought a new SD card for the Xperia Z2, I wanted to store photos on the SD card instead.
So I changed it to SD Card Storage and all is well (At least, that is what I thought).
After taking some photos one day, I got home and wanted to preview them, in the photos app and Album (Sony's Photo Previewer) it shows that the photo is corrupted or missing (Depending on which app I'm using). This really annoyed me as the photos I took seems to be all lost and corrupted. So I tried to use a file explorer (Including File Commander) to find the actual file and open it, but it seems to have the same problem. I get this grey background with a picture of a mountain with like a thunderbolt sign (Broken sign).
Following this, I have also tried to copy some video files onto the SD card and it has been giving me troubles too. I tried to copy videos onto the SD card in 2 ways, first way is to take the SD card out, connect it to a SD card reader and plug that into the computer. After it finished copying onto the SD card, the files would just disappear (I use computers a lot and this was very surprising and new to me... It's like the SD card deleted the files right after it was copied, or maybe even 'hid' the files).
So since that method didn't work I thought I would try putting the SD card back into the phone and connect the phone to the computer then use Sony's MediaGO (Computer App) to transfer the videos and it sort of worked this time. I copied 14 videos over and only the first 2 videos are working, the others are all "Media is missing" or of some sort. I checked the video's format and they are all either .avi or .mp4 which I don't think is a problem as the first 2 videos are in .avi so surely other .avi videos would work too? Guess not...
So it seems like I am having troubles with Video and Photos on the SD card as music is working 100% fine. Used Media GO to copy the music on and it's all working wonderfully.
Some of you might suggest formatting the SD Card, I will say I have... I have tried the above methods before formatting AND after formatting (Formatting using Xperia Z2, or shall I say "erase").
The SD card I have is Sandisk's 64GB Ultra (I bought this to anticipate 4K or at least 1080p video recordings).
If the issue here is SD Card compatibility and I was silly enough to not have seen that prior, then I would gladly admit it's my fault and be happy that the solution would simply mean to buy another SD card.
But that said, I highly doubt that would be the issue due to the fact that the SD card is made for performance (Not the best performance as the Extreme and Extreme Pro range are a lot better) and the card is new.
    2nd Issue:
Now this issue is not as bad as the first issue, it's something to do with the sound. I understand the phone has 3 sound controls, one for the Ringtone for when you get a notification or/and phone call, one for Media and one for Alarm.
What I do is I have the Ringtone volume sitting at around 50% and Media will be dependent as I change it when I open an app but the issue I've been having is this:
If I open an app (Mainly games that has sound/music) and I change the Media volume to say 70% or even 20%, whenever I get a notification whilst in-app the notification volume seems to be at 100% no matter what I do with the media volume. This is weird as my default Ringtone/Notification volume is sitting very low at around 50% or even if I change it to 20%.
What am I missing here? Any thoughts?
With the above 2 issues, last resort would be to factory reset my phone but will be willing to do it if there's a high chance of the issue getting fixed.
Your thoughts will be greatly received as right now I'm just lost and not sure what to do with the issues. I'm slowly getting the feeling that I should just give up on the phone and use it for phone calls, music and forget about the whole photo/video taking which is very sad as I love the phone's photo/video taking features.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Rickard,
Thank you for the link, I have started the test and 10 minutes into the test the speed for writing dropped. Anyways I only managed to get through in writing 8GB of data then I gave up. I then started to verify that 8GB of data that was written on the SD Card.
I have to say, it does seem like that SD Card is defective
Thank you for providing the link, what I will do now is get another SD Card and see if the problem is still there.
If the problem goes away I would consider my 1st issue being solved
However I am still not sure about my 2nd issue as this is not related to the SD card. Even without the SD card in the phone I seem to be experiencing this problem.
It's frustrating sometimes as if I'm trying to keep the volume down and play a game I can't because any notifications that comes through will be at 100% volume.
    Perhaps there's a setting I'm missing?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Audigy Platinum EX expansion card/external drive prob

I have used this card for home studio recording and gaming for a while with no problems. I recently built a new PC and now cannot get the external dri've or expansion card to work. The sound card works otherwise. Games, CD, wave files, and plugs on back of card work correctly. I just cannot get the any input through the external dri've to work. All connections have been checked and double checked. The card has been uninstalled and reinstalled both physically and through device manager. Drivers have also been uninstalled and reinstalled.
    Help.

    Marcos69,
Are you getting a red light in the optical out port on the EX dri've? If not it may be that the power lead connected to the card itself is not working. You may want to try another one if possible. Gi'ven the double checking that you have already done, if this doesn't help then you may have a dead dri've. You can contact support to arrange a repair if needed.

  • Z1 SD card issues..Often caused by FAKE SD cards, unbeknownst to the user and those trying to help?

    Hi All...
Well for the last month or so Ive had problems with my 64 gb SD card..losing data, getting corrupt and requiring non stop formatting..until eventually it just died totally.
Of course, throughout all this I was searching various forums for fixes and reasons why...and as far as I could see it was the fault of the Z1 'killing' SD cards ( I tried the card in other peoples phones and it did not work either..so I assumed it had been corrupted BY the phone!......since it HAD worked perfectly when i first got it)...
Well...Once it finally died totally this week., I decided to send it back to Samsung for an RMA. The card I had was a good quality,  64gb Samsung Evo SDXC class 10...Bear in mind I purchased it from an  Ebay seller that had  1000s of positive feedback (1 or 2 negs regards late postage only) and the card arrived in the post in packaging with hologram etc, and all appeared good quality....
Im actually pretty tech savvy..and indeed internet shopping savvy, and have never been ripped off or conned before.....I didnt buy a 64gb EVo that was ridiculously cheap or anything..I paid what they are worth (then about £27)
But Samsung took one look at it and informed me it was a fake...the issue I had come up against was that the card worked fine up until its ACTUAL (not listed) capacity was reached..which was 7 GIGS!!!..not 64!!!...it was at that point that it started corrupting files and failing in general....
Which in my case was a couple of weeks after installing it in my phone (and the day I got round to piling all my music on it!)......so I had a few weeks of actual use out of it while all seemd fine....enough time to leave positive feedback for the seller and all!.....DEVIOUS SWINES!!! : D.
    Anyway,
Now Im wondering...since these symptoms (files vanishing, corrupting etc) have been talked about so many times on these forums and elsewhere...not only on the Xperia Z1, but on all phones and devices that use SD cards...I wonder just how many are REALLY down to fake SD cards.....They are VERY realistic looking fakes...they even work pretty well up to a point (though probs not as fast as a real class 10 if you were to actually test them)..
In future, when offering help to people with SD card issues..i think I will make an effort to ask them first about the provenance of their SD card, and maybe try and get images of it. (after the fact Ive found several websites that show the fake ones...I even found an image of the EXACT fake I have..same serial numbers, and same tiny printing error and all!....which was THIS site https://thecounterfeitreport.com/product/504/Samsung-micro-SDXC-Memory-Cards.html)
In all the threads I pored over, trying to find a fix for my SD card issues..I can not remember a single instance of someone asking if the card was definitely real or not..or anyone suspecting this to be the issue....(though Im sure there ARE, i didnt find one though..not that I would havee thought it was the case with mine,,,,since I had NO reason to think it WAS fake..what with the perfect packaging, and seller having no neg feedback after selling hundreds of them!).
Im not some sort of SD card expert..BUT I am pretty up to date with regards consumer tech.....and until Samsung revealed to me I had been conned...I had absolutely no INKLING that the cause of my issues wa a fake card...on no forums did anyone ask the person with the issue 'are you sure your card is real?'.....and I am really coming round to think that these fake cards are RIFE out there on the market....so realistic looking, package and all, that probably otherwise legitimate sellers are trading in them......the KILLER being the fact they do actually work...maybe for MONTHS if it takes you a while to reach its true capacity....and certainly long enough in many cases to mean the nefarious seller gets away scot free!
So watch out guys...I ceritanly will be in fuiture...Now I know that fake cards are a big thing.....its really easy to spot the fake ones (if the seller uses a REAL picture of the item on the listing!)...they are by no means identical to the real deal when you know what to look for (in the case of fake EVO 64gb like mine, just 'made in Taiwan' and the back being gloss black instead fo white, is enough to show it as fake.....but I did not know that at the time when an absolutely perfect lookng offical Samsung package turned up at my door!....
Anyone else have this yet? Im sure they have....also, anyone wonder now if the cause of their woes is a fake card? If you would like to post here, Im happy to have a look at it!
    Thanks all!
(Here is my fake one for you all to see : D...apparently it is a VERY common fake....wish I had known! I also wish i still had the very realistic packaging too!)

Well to be honest I wasnt aware of such things myself until I got stung.....or  rather not aware that you could follow all the rules, and do everything right, like check for good feedback, (my seller had 1000s positve and 99% ratio....and not buy items that have a price that is 'too good to be true'...........and STILL get ripped off!
You live and you learn! Ive been shopping online for just about 10 years and this was the VERY FIRST time Ive had a problem of ANY kind!
I had gotten so confident shopping online, that I bought a pretty valuable watch online not a month ago..my first 'large' online purchase in fact.....a Casio GPW-1000 RAF edition... a quite rare '500 pieces in UK' item. Though it came from a large watch dealer, I realise now that it was still a risk (though I had the protection of paying by Credit Card..which I willl ALWAYS do from now on!)....as they may have sold a counterfiet item, and not actually realised it themselves...
Since I have had this experience of buying a counterfeit product,, I haev been reading into the phenomena..and it turns out that Casio G Shock watches (the type I spent a fari bit of money on...a legitimate one luckily!) are very heavily counterfeited...and are ALL OVER Ebay....who seems to do nothing about it!
I can understand (though not condone AT ALL) criminals counterfeiting a sought after watch design, or jewellery and things like that...because they have a market for them, in the shape of people that cant afford the real thing, and think its ok to buy a cheap and poor quality knock off, that only superficially appears to be real.......
...but I have to say its a big surprise to me that they would counterfeit something like an SD card, even if it is a quite highly regarded model.......and even go to such effort to copy the packaging perfectly......I think that the fact that so much effort went into faking a Samsung Evo 64gb sd card ..that it demonstrates that there are a LOT of them out there....hundreds of thousands for sure....but could there be millions?
Due to this prevelance, I think it might well be worth asking each person that comes on the forum with an SD card problem, in particular those with a'new' SD that is losing data, or needs to reformat all the time, or any of the 'giveaway' symptoms...to ask them for an image of the offending article as a starting point.....and to then compare it to images of the real ones that are online...
Im sure most of them will deny they own a fake....I certainly didnt think for one second my problems were due to a counterfeit card...as I said in my post...the first I knew of it was when Samsung themselves informed me!
Otherwise we end up going round in circles trying to 'fix the unfixable'..which is what happend to me : D
Anyway, I will keep an eye out for people on the forum, and a couple of other tech sites I frequent, and see if I can identify any more of these fakes, and hopefully can catch them soon enough that the customers can get their money back, since the problems often dont manifest themselves until the time for immediate refund is passed (once again, this happened to me, and Im having to claim through Paypal..though they are being very helpful...its only £22...but its the principle of the thing!)
    Thanks all, and stay vigilant!

  • Macbook Pro Retina 2014 Top Spec - Premiere Pro CC Graphics Card Issue

    Hello,
For 12 months I have been having graphics card issues which all started on my 2011 MBP, which Apple replaced 12 months ago. I Then got a new shiny, 2013 highest end retina macbook pro from apple, in which after a couple of weeks had the exact same graphics issue. As soon as I start working in Premiere Pro with my 1080P DSLR footage, once the fans get up high, then the graphic colour hologram like start pooping on my screen. Now I got that retina replaced as I alerted apple about it, now they have given me the highest end 2014 model, and guess what? The problem is twice as bad.
I think it's definitely got something to do with the Apple software. It's weird though, because on the rare occasion, the graphic poop will show up on my screen when I am on Youtube (only once in a blue moon it does that) - it does it every single time 15-20 mins into editing with Premiere Pro, once the fans get hot. I can click on the graphics poop and it makes it disappear, which is weird, maybe that proves it software issue?
I don't know, but this problem has caused me to go through two of apples most powerful laptops, 60 phone calls to Apple, 1 investigation lodged to the Apple Engineers (the people who are above the Senior Apple Care Advisors) - Nothing seems to fix it, and I haven't been able to create any more intriguing films on my laptop because Premiere Pro CC just brings up all the graphics poop.

Does anyone know what causes this exactly? How do I fix it?

Thanks for the follow up information for my video card/graphics card question that came to mind out of curiosity.
I do not have Premiere Pro and am strictly and Elements Windows user. Otherwise I would look into this matter for you first hand. The place you want to be is in the Adobe Premiere Pro Forum, although, as you already mentioned, the screen display irregularities have appeared when Premiere Pro was not being used. Have you tried uninstalling Premiere Pro to determine if its removal from the computer resolves the screen display irregularities for whatever you are doing in the computer applications like iMovie? For that matter, do you see the problem in iMovies?
Just some thoughts to think about as you compose your inquiry for the Premiere Pro users in the Premiere Pro Forum.
    Best wishes

I am sure that may be true for a lot of Nokia phones, but based on what I am reading here and on other Nokia forums, doesn't it sound like it may be a time for a new firmware? There is certainly a few "issues" to be addressed there.
