Zire 31 - Help

Hey guys! I need some help with my Zire 31. I can't find the original CD, but I was browsing around the forum when I saw a reply that you may download the software from the site - which has the latest updates, etc [Palm Desktop by ACCESS] . Well, I did that thinking it would have all the features such as for photos and the music, but nothing.
I'm trying to get my photos on my Zire 31 - I see the photos on the desktop but when I sync thinking it'll be on my Zire 31, it isn't. Also, I have an SD card and all that reads is the info on the card and nothing else.
Are there any apps on the site that I can download for the photos to get on my Zire 31? I was thinking about buying the CD from eBay, but then I saw a few topics where the app for the photos were missing, so that would be a waste.
I'd really appreciate you help! Thanks!
btw, I'm on Windows 7.

You are correct - looking at the support pages for the Zire31 on Palm.com, I see the Media program is not included on the device. You will need to get another disk as it is not available for download.
Usedpdaparts.com has them for sale for $10.00 http://www.usedpdaparts.com/Software.html
If you didn't format the card in your Palm, there are supposed to be 3 main folders:
/AUDIO (music files)
/DCIM (Digital Camera IMages)
/Palm/Launcher
If your pictures are not in the /DCIM folder, they won't be found once the Media program is installed.

Zire 21-help?????

My zire 21 is not powering up. When I first plugged it in it started to but then just went blank. I re-plugged it in and tryed reseting it but nothing works. I tryed to turning it on when I hooked it to the computer but still no luck. Do I need a new power cord? do you know where i could get one? what do i do if the new power cord doesn't work? do i ask the company for a replacement? thanks!

Have you tried to charge the handheld overnight? Try this and see if it will power up after charging. Try pressing the reset button several times after charging to see if it will power on.
Do you have a car charger that you can try?
You can find replacement power cables/chargers by doing a google search. There are many different sources for the cables.
If a replacement cable does not correct the issue and you want to get the handheld repaired, you can contact Palm for setting up the repair. There would be a charge to repair the handheld. There are also other 3rd party companies that repair the handhelds. Check out pdaparts.com and usedpdaparts.com.

Need help finding a Palm Zire 72S wall charger

Does anyone know where I can find a wall charger (ac) that is reliable with a Palm Zire 72S?

Radio Shack in the US has a charging system called iGo that has a basic charging brick with different tips for different devices. The tips adjust the correct polarity and voltage. I use it to charge my cell phone, GPS, and Palm TX and Zire72.

Want to modify my Zire 31... help?

hi everybody, i have here a old palm zire 31, and i had liked running the LJP emulator on it, but found that it didnt have enough ram to emulate some consoles, now that the battery has died, and i have already gotten a replacement, i figured maybe i should imporve the performance while i had it apart.
i noticed that there is actually two ram chips, a long one and a smaller one, both seem to be SDRAM chips, so this doesnt help.
I also know that if the battery is disconnected the added data on the internal memory is lost, so that means one of these chips is the memory chip, while the other is the ram chip.
The problem isnt that i cant switch out the old chip for a new one, its that i dont know which is which, i already have a 64mb ram chip thats the same build as the smaller chip, but is the smaller chip really the ram chip?
the smaller chip is branded as "MX", while the larger one is Samsung.
please, if anyone knows which chip is for what i would be extremely grateful!

There's a chance that BT have not enabled QoS - used for Vision
When you get chance run a test using http://speedtester.bt.com/
IF THE ABOVE PAGE WON'T LOAD (as I've just tried and it still won't load) use http://217.32.105.42/ instead.
You should get 2 results - your current speed and an assured rate test (QoS).

Zire - My memos application is gone - help

When I try to open my memos app from the quick start button I get a blank white page and the unit is locked. It even happens when launching from the application page. I have to re-set the unit to get off the white page. If I look under the drop down list on the home screen, I can see the Memos app plus the amount of space it's taking up, and the number of records I have entered, but I can't get to it. Everything else works. Any ideas?

As an alternative to a Hard Reset, just do one HotSync with the Memos conduit set to "Desktop overwrites Handheld". This should write clean copies of all the memos you've saved on your computer.

Help syncing zire 31 with windows 7 via bluetooth

I am trying to sync my palm zire 31 to windows 7 via bluetooth. So, far no luck! i want to know if it is even posible with my zire? I recently purchased my zire via ebay. So, I have yet to hotsync! help me Please! And, is this the best way for me to try to hotsync in the first place? I have tried repeatedly to hotsync via usb.....but no luck!

The Zire31 does not have a BlueTooth radio in it... The method you are trying will not work.
There are no USB drivers in Vista64 or Win7 64 bit, so syncing via a cable is out too.
Your option is using IrDA (Beaming). Please read the large "Windows7 and Vista HotSync instructions here" thread for some guidance.

Zire 71 Desktop and hotsync prob.. Somebody help me please!

I have a zire 71. It seemed to be working fine when i shifted to vista at first. A few months later it stopped hotsyncing. Now thats palm desktop 4.14 has been released for vista, when the installation asked to have the device plugged in, vista shows a window that requests me to insert the device software cd.when i clicked on look for software online, it asks me to download the software for treo and takes me to palm desktop for treo download. Can somebody tell me y this happens and wat i can do abt it? Any help at all would be appreciated. Is there any other way i can sync the z71?

Try completing the software installation without connecting the device. Then reboot the PC. Then try to sync.

Urgent Help! Palm Zire 31 Universal Keyboard typing gibberish!

Hi everyone! I recently got my brother's PalmOne Zire 31 (yes, I know it's considered ancient these days), and his PalmOne universal wireless keyboard.
Anyhow, after installing the drivers and programs, my brother and I set up the keyboard on the stand and pushed the infrared arm up in various directions, and found that something weird was happening. Wherever there was an IR signal, the keyboard was typing in giberrish; for example: control= s, tab= f, etc.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem, possibly without any hardware repair ? Thanks a lot! By the way, if harware repair is necessary, could you give me an estimate for how much it can be?

Do you mean the IR arm? Please be more specific next time. Anyways, once I have the arm up 90 degrees, where do I put the post-it? At the top? Cover the whole thing in post-its?
You don't simply "put a bandage on the body." You put it where there's a cut. So please, give me clear, specific directions.
In addition to the above, today my Palm just crashed when I went to the media option. It gave some weird Windows media error, then had a black text part at the bottum saying "Reset." After resetting it, the PalmOne Powered signal came on, and whenever I pushed the reset button, there was no avail; just a black screen, no matter how many times I'd press it, or how long I'd do it. The battery just died, so I put it back on charge (no noise whether or not it is/isn't charging). I don't know what's with these devices @_@. Sheesh, you leave them out for a year and they just go completely crazy.

Hi- I can't get my palm and Vista to hotsync. "the connection cannot be established." and " software not found" I've downloaded the 6.2 version and still no luck. I have spent so much time trying to figure this out and I'm getting nowhere!Help!

Same question we ask everyone else who asks this question - which version of Vista? 32bit or 64bit?
64bit Vista can only be synced by a wireless method. See the many sticky threads in the Windows HotSync section.

The Zire 72 comes with Palm OS 5.2.8.
I think you are looking at the version of "Applications", not Palm OS.
Go to the Menu/Info/Version. At the top, you will see the Palm OS version.

Need help getting old Palm Zire 31 data on my laptop into my new Samsung Omnia phone

Hope someone can help me, as I am technically illiterate. I have a new Samsung Omnia phone w/Verizon service w/all the features (calendar, contacts, web, etc). I am replacing my Palm Zire 31 because it died - but all contacts/calendar info is backed up on my laptop. Verizon can't help me get my PDA contacts/calendar, etc. into my new Omnia phone. I have NO idea what to do, but am thinking if i could somehow dump the old palm data into my outlook i might be able to get it into the new phone? Anyone out there that can help me? (I don't even know how to dump the Palm data into outlook)

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. Since you have your data in palm desktop and your looking to move your data to outlook there is a utility that you can purchase that will do just that. It is called pocketcopy and can be found at chapura.com for $24.95. Being it is 3rd party software if you have any problems or questions you will need to talk to their support.

Palm zire 71synching problem HELP!!!!

Hello, I am new to the forum so here goes. I purchased a used, but in great shape zire 71, love it, downloaded the right version to hot synch and when I tried it the previous owner put a password on it and I can't get in. I called the guy I purchased it from and he can't remember the password any suggestions around this mess??????????

You will have to perform a Hard Reset to reset everything to factory state, then start over.

I need serious help with frozen palm zire 21 and hotsync.

Hi, My palm zire 21 is frozen! It is an older one, It froze then I reset on back and about 2days later it came back on, I don't know where my hotsync disc is to download! Then it froze again(maybe to full?) I need my info off of it, I would like to hotsync it to computer and then get another device, but can't right now. I have been online trying to figure out how to download something for it, but can't seem to figure it out! It beeps if I try to tap anything on it! If you have any suggestions let me know!AC

If the device will not function post a soft reset then a hard reset is needed. This will erase all data. There isn't anything to download that will make a non functioning Zire 21 start working.

HELP! Palmone Zire 72 won't turn on =[

I just recently found my dad's old Palmone zire 72. I had to order a new charger online because we had lost his. His work gave it to me after he died so it was been uncharged for 5 years (since he died). I plugged it into the charger and the little green light came on but it won't turn on. I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

You might want to leave it plugged in for a while. Sometimes the screen doesn't light up immediately if the battery is totally drained. Maybe even overnight.
If that doesn't work, try pressing the Reset button when it's plugged in. If that doesn't work, unplug it and then try pressing the Reset button.
If you don't mind losing the data on the handheld, maybe then try a hard reset (but this will DELETE everything on the handheld IRREVOCABLY AND PERMANENTLY) - http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/887_en.html
These aren't scientifically proven techniques, but they have been known to work sometimes.
