Zlib problem with hg/git

Question

$ hg commit
abort: could not import module inflateCopy!
$ git add .
git: symbol lookup error: git: undefined symbol: deflateBound
$ pacman -Q zlib mercurial git python
zlib 1.2.3-2
mercurial 0.9.4-2
git 1.5.2.5-1
python 2.5.1-1
$ ls -l /usr/lib/libz*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 78606 2007-05-25 19:18 /usr/lib/libz.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2007-05-25 19:18 /usr/lib/libz.so -> ../../lib/libz.so.1
$ ls -l /lib/libz*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2007-05-25 19:18 /lib/libz.so.1 -> libz.so.1.2.3
