Zone file check

a client of mine has dns running on their server. i configured it, and all seems well, but i was wondering if need to modify the zone file to correct any errors. i believe named-checkzone reported it was okay. are the CNAME for www and the initial A record correctly formatted?
thanks.

  • Cannot save configuration for zone files

I'm migrating from 10.3 to 10.4.9. The 10.4.9 system is on a new hard drive so it is a fresh install. I have no problem setting up the BIND config manually from the command line but I like to use Server Admin to start and stop the server. When I noticed I was having problems resolving my servers domain/subdomains, I used Server Admin to take a look at what was going on.
The problem I seem to be encountering is that Server Admin shows that the zones exist but it does not display any of the zone data in the window to the right of the zone list. I did a quick check on the zone files and found them to be configured correctly. When I tried to edit and then save the configuration using the Server Admin GUI I receive an error telling me that the zone had no name and that the configuration could not be saved.
Just to test things out a little bit, I dragged the DNS configuration file from the 10.3 config from the Server Admin Applition, rebooted the system back into 10.4, and dropped that configuration back onto the application window. After this process I can see the zone data in the right hand window but when I click the save button I receive the same error.
My only reference for 10.4 is the Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Server Essentials which describes the Server Admin GUI for the DNS functions and the associated files in a manner that I am familiar with but which are significantly different then what is actually appearing in the Server Admin application for 10.4.9.
Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?
    Thanks
    XServe G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Unfortunately, there are a number of flaws with the Server Admin DNS tool that absolutely require you to modify the files manual. For instance, you cannot properly set up MX records is the zone you are working on is NOT responsible for the mail server. In other words, you can't set up MX records. Also, the name server text fields are bugged in a way that makes it extremely difficult to add more then one name server. The tool is useless until these problems are fixed.
Basically, as you said, I used the dns tool to set up the files, then edited them manually in order to get them into a functional state. I just have to make sure that I don't ever use the tool to edit the configuration as it will blow away any changes that were made manually.
FYI The Server Admin web tool for Apache is also just as annoying, deleting data that has been added manually.

    Hello there,
How do I find out the version of Oracle Time Zone files? I'm in the process of applying the recent oracle patch and need to find out the version of oracle time zone in my db. Could you please help me?

  • Under Windows 8.1, Adobe Drive crashes on File- Check In... when invoked from an Adobe creative application.

I am testing my drive connector on Windows 8.1 (64-bit) using Adobe Drive (5.0.2) with Photoshop CC (15.1.0.148) and Bridge CC (6.1.0.116), and I find that if I use File->Check In... from the creative apps (I checked InDesign too), the application crashes inside of AdobeDriveUI.dll.  The crash happens as it attempts to display the dialog that solicits a Check In comment.
I have tried using both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Adobe Drive, but both exhibit the same issue.  I am quite certain that my connector is not involved, as the crash happens in native code that collects the version comment *before* my ICheckInHandler instance gets called.
I am interested in any insight or work-arounds that might exist.  Thanks for any help!

    Thank you for the Replay,
I performed steps provided by you , but it did not help.
on other hand, i have collected some more data regarding
    this issue.
    1. went to SAFE Mode and tried to run the application from USB
    2. got Exception "The instruction at 0x00407038 referenced memory at 0x00000078. The memory could not be read"
some more info on setup :
we have a micro controller on board, some part of memory (present on board) is used to keep application and server. we can open this memory via USB connection to PC. then we can see all files present at this memory on PC (behaves like externally connected
    USB Drive) .
When we start this application . it will start the server . server will send 'request file' to controller soft. (this part is working fine), and controller will send back response , as soon as response file(RSP.txt) will appear in USB drive it will get corrupted
.(here RSP.txt file is present in controller USB decided memory but to open this we are using PC RAM). crashing of RSP.txt file will crash whole application. This RSP File is of FAT Type.
i have copied application in another external drive and tried to RUN application. it will not crash  . but USB can not receive the "RSP.txt" (as it is not in communication with controller soft). and problem is in response file.

PS CS4 64-bit (in Web Premium CS4) on Win 7 PC.  I did a duplicate file check on my hdd and deleted dup files. Now when I try to run PS 64-bit I get "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application." When I do this, it seems to install correctly until the very end, then it says "Installation Complete With Errors", and when I try to run I get the same 'component missing message'. What can I do? PS 32 bit runs fine. Some of the other applications ib Web Premium say the shortcut has been changed or removed. I appreciate your help...Thank you

Best advice I can think of is to uninstall and run the Clean Script from here.

  • Invalid Path for target file, check if connector is deployed correctly

    Hi all,
I've got a tricky problem over here: we are using OMB scripts for generating simple extract mappings that just copy data from an oracle source table to a flat file on a directory. Up untill now ( with version 11.1 ) this did not pose any troubles, but now we are using 11.2 for the first time and we don't get the mappings to execute. Generating, validating and deploying all works fine, only executing fails with the error: "Invalid Path for target file, check if connector is deployed correctly". It ends to rapidly, so I'm assuming the problem lies in the repository and not on the database itself.
I'm pretty sure all locations are defined as needed, flat file operator in the mapping has correct location, the flat file module has the same location,...
I tried almost everything: recreate oracle module, recreate flat file module, unregister and recreate db location, unregister and recreate dir location, recreate mapping and flat file, export/import...
The strange thing is, I was able to execute a mapping once. Although it ended with an error (due to a function in the mapping), it created the file correctly. After that I needed to update the directory path of the target location and from then on, I always got the error above, and I don't see a good reason.
    Any suggestions??
    Tnx,
    Michel

    That error is displayed when the generated code fails to execute with one of the following database errors;
    UTL_FILE.INVALID_PATH
    UTL_FILE.INVALID_OPERATION
    UTL_FILE.INVALID_FILEHANDLE
So its worth checking the generated code for that map and searching for the code around UTL_FILE.FOPEN and seeing what the path and the file name in the code are. Maybe the file is created with permissions such that it can be created but not then re-written and its an OS permissions thing (such as UMASK settings).
    Cheers
    David

  • File Check-in/check-out not working properly

I recently upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 (the entire web wuite)

It can e.g. be that while copying the file permissions have been changed, making the files not readable for the oracle user

Edited by: ayadsufyan on 21-Nov-2012 01:30I'd say the error message is pretty self-evident:
    ORA-00202: control file: 'E:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\CONTROL01.CTL'
    ORA-27041: unable to open file
    OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 2) can not find the specified fileWhat do you suppose "can not find the specified file" means?
And what does this have to do with database security?

  • Where are the zone files located for BIND??

I found what should be named.conf in /etc/dns/
and in this file (which apple calls publicView.conf.apple ....wth?) it links to the zone files:
    +file "db.domain.org.";+
    But db.domain.org isnt in /etc/dns
so where can I find the zone files?
    Thanks

    look in /var/named/zones.

  • Time Zone support - checked or unchecked?

I export my iCal claendar to Entourage (for the better printouts) and noticed that some appointments were showing up in the Entourage calendar 1 hour earlier than they should. When I oen up the individual event in Entourage it has the correct time, but in Entourage's daily, weekly or monthly display, it's an hour off.
So I went back to iCal, and checked Time Zone support and made sure that every event had the correct time zone. Then I exported again, and this time Entourage had EVERY event showing at the wrong time. I've looked everywhere, and I cannot find any preference or setting with the wrong time zone checked.
I've posted a note on an Entourage forum, but my question for this forum is as far as this issue is concerned, do you think I'd be better off with iCal's Time Zone Support checked or unchecked?

There's a patch you need to run for Entourage 2004. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930402/en-us?spid=1720
This requires download and install of Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.3 Update. A link to that download is contained on the page above. Be sure you get 11.3.3, because there are other versions referenced.

  • Video File Checker

Bunch of video clips in a project.  Believe that one or more may be corrupt – maybe only slightly, but enough to crash the project.  The files can play in vlc, but that covers a lot of sin…  does anyone know of a video-file-checker?  Some folks recommend MediaInfo, but it won’t do a really exhaustive frame-by-frame check…

thanks, i'll check it out.  funny, there should be a market for such a tool -- or a tool within PP: R-click on a clip and 'check consistancy'...  so somthing along those lines... batch would even be better...  a dropped or frame or 2 is no big deal, but series of corrupt frames is a pain...  for me, can cause PP to crash...

  • Is it a Bug or Feature;  wizards modify stuff with backing files checked in

When Jdev is used with an SCM, the wizards have a few love/hate features for me. :))
Hate: VO wizards show the SQL as inactive (greyed) and you can't browse any of
the VO config unless you check out the backing store.
Love / Hate: edit the JPR, connection, AM config, Entity attributes [refresh after,
change indicator etc] with the the jpr/xml files checked in. Doing a recompile actually
does affect what you local test if you change an Entity attribute property for example.
Don't know if you can deploy these changes too.
I'd prefer that the wizards error on the side of not allowing modification of checkin
src, but allow full browse (VO sql).
    What's your thoughts?
    curt

There's a bit of contention across the feature teams as to whether or not wizards and dialogs should support "read only mode" when they're based on files that are read only (this isn't really an SCM support issue as such, it generalizes to read only files). The last time I checked, a lot of the BC4J dialogs support read only mode. However, other features don't (e.g. UML modeler dialogs).
Some of the feature teams feel it's too much work to redesign UI so that it can support read only mode. However, for many of these areas, the SCM team are actively logging bugs. My argument for read-only UI is that this helps avoid the case where you make lots of changes in a dialog, only to discover that clicking OK fails because a file is checked in. This is not too bad for read only files (you can go off to the filesystem and change the attribute while the dialog is still on screen in JDeveloper). But for source control, it's a real pain, because you can't access the IDE's SCM features while the dialog is on screen.
We (the SCM feature team) are also actively working towards getting SCM more integrated into the IDE so that (for example), dialogs could prompt you if you want to check out files when you make changes in e.g. UML modeler dialogs and click OK. But this level of integration also requires change and consensus across the IDE feature teams so will take a while to appear (if at all).
    Thanks,
    Brian
