Zoom 100% in place shortcut
When I press cmd + 1 it zooms 100%, but the position changes to the actual artboard.
A lot of times I work outside the artboard, and it is annoying that there's no fast way to switch to 100% zoom wihout having to move the position again.
Using view is not practical for this because it takes time to redefine a new view everytime I move my work area.
Using the navigator panel or the zoom text box in the bottom left corner is tedious too.
We need a keyboard shortcut to do that.
100% agree. Although we may not dispose of the existing shortcut.

Paste in Place shortcut not working
My Paste in Place shortcut (cmd+shift+v) is not working in Adobe Illustrator CC (Updated) for Mac OS X.
It works when I manually press the command in the edit menu, but not when I use the keystrokes
When the shortcut is initiated, the software behaves as if nothing was pressed
It is showing as the proper shortcut when I view my shortcut preferences
When I try to re-type the shortcut in the preferences, it acts as if nothing was pressed
I've tried uninstalling SubScribe Plug-in
I've tried uninstalling Illustrator and then downloading again
I've tried resetting Illustrator preferences
I'm using the Apple Wireless Keyboard
I've tried using another keyboard and that didn't work either
Please help me, this is affecting workflowjwbrobst,
What about Cmd+V for Paste (centre of the view), Cmd+F (place in front in the same place), or Cmd+B (place in back in the same place)?
Have you actually selected an object to paste?
Did you reinstall using the full three step way?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Illustrator Zoom and Grabber Hand shortcuts don't work
Hi There,
This morning I opened Illustrator and some of the keyboard shortcuts had stopped working - specifically:
Spacebar = Grabber Hand
Zoom In = Command Spacebar
Zoom Out = Command Option Spacebar
Is there a way to reset this to make these work again?
Also, if there's a shortcut or key combination that changed the defaults in the first place, is there a way to turn it off?
Any help would be much appreciated.
CheersWhen shortcuts stop working it's generally due to some third party application which has commandeered the shortcuts and refuses to let them go. Common culprits are Microsoft applications, Intuit applications, and some VPN applications. Make certain, if you are running any of this software, you've updated tot eh latest versions. You can test this by simply restarting the system. If the Illustrator shortcuts work after a reboot, then you absolutely have an issue with some third party application.

Hey,
while I created a new document, I started to zoom in/out particular areas of the images using the key shortkuts <space>+<cmd> for zooming in and <space>+<cmd>+<alt> for zooming out of an area.
While this works fine in my Photoshop CS5, it troubbles in CS6:
Once I want to zoom out (via <space>+<cmd>+<alt> and a left-mouseclick), the zooming won't stop until it reached the smallest zoom level, instead of zooming out just a step. It however works, while I zoom in (via <space>+<cmd> and a left-mouseclick).
I'm so used to this shortcut since a cupple of versions now (it also works in other programms as well) and it is realy annoying.
It also happens that when I press <space> and another key (e.g. to zoom in/out) that Photoshop CS6 does sometimes not release the hand-tool, that I use to move the canvas via holing <space> and left-mouse down. Pressing <space> again solve this. However, I would exspect the hand-/move-tool only to work while <space> is pressed.
Thanks.

> Do you run into the issue in Photoshop it the case when you use <CMD>+< - > ?
No, works fine. Although its not the best alternative, because my method allows to "specify" the zooming region (due to the mouse position)
> Did you try to reset the zoom tool (Right-click on the magnifier icon on the option bar?)
I did do a reset, but it didn't influence the "bad" behavior.
> Do you have a key repeater function activated in the OS (accessibility?)?
None that I know of. Couldn't find any. But if so, shouldn't it affect the zooming in as well (which isn't the case)?
> If you never use the animated zoom, you can disable it in Photoshop>preferences>general>animated zoom.
I tried both: enabled it causes the mentioned "error" behavior. Disabled the zoom out stops but its remarkably unresponsive: Once I use the key combination and click the left-mouse-btn it takes seconds before the zoom out happes; the process _feels_ quite long.

Zoom 100%, Shape Tool Appears on Fraction of Pixel
This has been an issue for a while since the shape tool got a major refactoring and was hoping that this would have been fixed by now, but since it hasn't I want to make sure this issue is known and people are aware.
This used to be default behavior (before CC and CS6):
When you were zoomed out to 100% and used a vector tool (shape tool), you could draw anywhere and the edges would be aligned on pixels by default because if you are zoomed out to 100% you literally cannot click on a fraction of a pixel.
Since there is now the "snap vector tools and transforms to pixel grid" option, yes you can automatically snap to pixels, but you should still be able to have vector tools line up on the pixels when zoomed to 100% and have snap turned off. I do not understand why this change was made.
Article regarding CS4/CS5 in how to align shape tools perfectly: If you have Snap to Pixels turned off, drawing at 100% zoom achieves the same result.

Looking at the web page briefly in Web Inspector from Safari 7.0 on Mavericks (Safari 6.1 on Lion/Mountain Lion would also work), there is a <canvas> element that's position: absolute that is being used as a background for the page. Because this element is positon: absolute, it's put into a layer. And because it's behind all the other content on the page, it puts everything else into a layer as well. As seen on the Safari 6.1/7.0 Web Inspector when loaded in Safari 7.0 for Mavericks:
Layers use a lot of memory, which is why Safari on iOS 7 crashes due to lack of memory when zooming back out--layers must be recreated at each zoom level.
This is still a valid bug, but finding an alternate way to paint the background (using a repeating background image with CSS) would make the page use much less memory-intensive. You can verify that there are fewer layers on the page after changing (or removing) the canvas element, and Safari for iOS should stop crashing on zoom out. -
Hi there,
Former FCP user here transitioning to Premiere, first time on this forum.
I have 3 separate issues when using Premiere cc or 2014 :
1/ When I try to zoom out using my tablet, I press 'z' to select the zoom tool, then hold the 'alt' key and click multiple times. But only several (one or two at most) clicks are taken into account, and after one or two clicks, the software seems to forget the alt key and starts zooming in. I'm aware of the 'minus' key shortcut on the keyboard, but a lot of times it would be much faster for me to do it this way. Is there a way to fix this ?
2/ I want to switch the hotkey "return" from "rendering effects" to "rendering selection". But when I try to hit 'return' in the shortcut window (after selecting the right action and getting the prompt box), it assumes I'm selecting 'Ok' and leaves... Any idea how I should do ?
3/ This one should be easier but I can't seem to find it : how do I remove the gain control line from the clips on the timeline ? I keep changing the audio gain when all I want to do is grab a clip.
Thanks a bunch !Yes, I tried scrapping my preferences, but to no avail. I should perhaps have specified that my program runs in International English, but the keyboard is French. However, this is the first time using PS that this problem has arisen.

Defining own zoom in & out keyboard shortcuts
I have been looking for a decent PDF viewer with tabs for awhile and have found Dioretsa. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dioretsa/id411422230?mt=12 It's pretty great for everything except I'm having problems with the keyboard shortcuts for zoom in and zoom out. I want the behavior to be the same as in most of my programs: [Command and =] for Zoom In and [Command and -] for Zoom Out, both WITHOUT having to use the Shift key.
In the program the default Zoom In and Zoom Out shortcuts are shown in the picture below. They REQUIRE me to use [Command and Shift and =] and [Command and Shift and -] for zooming in.
This annoyed me so I wanted to define my own keyboard shortcuts under Keyboard preferences:
In Dioretsa, it now looks like this:
Zoom In now works as expected, without needing Shift. However, for Zooming out it doesn't work! I still need to push Shift.
I noticed how for Zoom Out the hypthen is BOLD here! In Keyboard Preferences it is not! Also you'll notice that there is no Shift key in the default Zoom Out shortcut in Diotretsa!
This behavior is really bugging me! Can anyone help? I tried setting Zoom Out to [Command and 0] and this works fine without having to use shift!Richard Segedi wrote:
Another thing you can try, if you aren't already aware of it, is to put the mouse cursor in whatever you wish to magnify, then hold down the Control key and scroll the mouse ball upwards. Do the same but scroll it downwards to reduce the screen image to normal size. This works on everything on the screen. Takes a little getting used to but I find it quick and handy for a fast look at something too small to see otherwise.
Rick
ya, thanks, already 'discovered' that one by accident...so many shortcuts to learn!!! -
Zoom to 100% in actual position
A lot of times I work outside the artboard.
If I want to go to zoom 100% I press command + 1 but that moves the position of the view to the artboard.
Changin zoom with command + or - is a pita.
Views is not the best solution either because I'd have to create a new one everytime I work in different place.
Any idea?I would pay that price.... but how can I assign a script/action to a keyboard shortcut?
- copy the 2 lines of code from here
- paste into a text editor doc or the ESTK and save as "zoom100perCent.jsx"
- place the file in your default scripts folder
- restart Illustrator
- open Actions palette
- create a New Action
- enter settings as shown
- in the flyout palette menu, click "Insert Menu Item..."
- go to "File" --> "Scripts" --> and select "zoom100perCent"
to run hit Shift+F2
that's how you can find out Jacob, you have to make the changes as per Kurt instructions -
Pages '09 zoom keyboard shortcut not working
Hi,
I am trying to zoom using keyboard shortcuts in Pages 09. The default keyboard shortcuts are supposedly 'Command >' and 'command <'.
However, one of the shortcuts brings up my general preference window and the other does not do anything at all. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the zoom in/out keyboard shortcuts to work?
Thanks.JPL123,
To enter the > or < symbol, it is necessary to use the shift key.
See if Shift-Command-> and Shift-Command-< works for you. -
Shortcut for the new zoom icon in Finder
The new feature in Snow Leopard that allows to zoom icons directly on the window is useful, but I can't find a shortcut for that. Does anybody know if it is possible to assign a shortcut for that?
Other question: is it possible to assign "two fingers" trackpad gestures (like scroll and Zoom) to user defined shortcuts?
Thanks!Thank you Malcolm. I know that. I need a "keyboard only" solution for the situation described in the thread

Hello,
Can anyone tell me why the zoom levels aren't accurate in Pages (at least for me)? By which I mean that while looking at a document at the 100% zoom level on the screen, the text is much smaller than on the actual printed page. 150% is closer to the actual size. Does this have to do with screen resolution?
ThanksBennnh wrote:

Exactly.
Pages assumes that the screen resolution is 72 dpi but screens doesn't always work this way and the dot size is not the same on every display so, zoom 100% is just an indicator, not a true measure.
On my 24"" Dell display, If I want to have a page displayed as its real size, I must set the zoom to 131.
It would be fine if Apple add an "other" item in the zoom menu as the one available in free products like The Gimp
or Bean

You will need to download the js files from here:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/imagemagnify.htm
Place them in a folder named "scripts" inside your root folder and they will work.
Then, to apply enable the magnify effect on an image just insert a CSS class of "magnify" inside it, for example: <img src="profile.jpg" class="magnify" style="width:200px; height:150px" />
It's just that easy. -
friends,
i have a jpanel with image as background and i am adding jlabels dynamically to the jpanel. i have to move the jlabel on the image so i added mouse listener to jlabel. now i want to add zooming functionality to the jpanel.
now if zoom out jpanel everything works well but jlabel mouse listener location is not changing so if i click on jlabel its not activating listener - i need to click outside of jlabel/jpanel (its original location when its 100% zoom) to activate the listener. how can i correct this ?
thanks in advance
