Zoom beyond image area

Upgraded to CS5 and can't figure out how I did this w/ CS4.
When zooming or scrolling, I was able to see/go beyond the document image area.
What do I need to do to be able to do that again?

It's not the window that is the problem it is happening with an individual file.
This is a screen shot from CS4 showing how I can zoom in on my image and and the gray working area is still visible. Notice the scroll bars and see that they are not all the way over to the ends.
It's like the 0 point on the rulers is locked--- somehow.
Hope that helps.

  • IPhoto 9.1.1: slideshow images are zoomed into blurriness

New Mini 2.4, new Acer HD widescreen display, iPhoto 9.1.1 bundled. The mandatory library "update" on startup corrupted my library. Found a fix here to trash the iPhoto plist and reload the app. My old slideshows are gone, and when I select a range of photos and click "slideshow", I get the whole range in mini-thumbnails along the bottom; that's nice, but...when I play the slideshow, the images are so zoomed out that every last one is blurry. It looks like a nice photo in Preview after you hit "zoom in" about 5 times; it starts to pixelate, but this is just plain blurry. I posted another topic today about display size, and I wonder if these two flaws are related. The display puts a ridiculously small snapshot on the display, and full-screen simply puts the same dinky image on a field of black.
The subject images are, admittedly, mostly 1.3mp and 3.5mp. A few I took with my new 18mp Canon behave pretty much like they all used to. I've tried changing the monitor resolution from 1080p down to 720p, but it doesn't make much difference. The older ones looked fine and were zoomable without pixelating on my old Acer 1914 LCD monitor, so I didn't expect such a radical degradation of quality simply by upgrading to an HD monitor. The older photos (99%) of my library, are pretty much useless for slideshows now.

Create a new test library, import some photos and see if the problem persists. If not then your original library is damaged. Backup the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I am not sure if I am zeroing in on what you seek so please clarify...on
I want the pan/zoom feature to start the moment the subsequent image becomes visible.
Do you mean fading in visible versus or completely visible at the end of the transition? Whatever the case, I have not
found a scenario to fit what you are describing.
However, here are my suggestions for you to consider...
    1. What is the alignment of the Cross Dissolve transition - Left Clip, Between Clips, or Right Clip. If Between Clips, please try Left Clip alignment.
    2. What is the duration of the Cross Dissolve transition - you could try varying the transition duration. If less than 1 second, then please read the
details for minimum transition duration in the following
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/03/pe-minimum-duration-for-transition.html
Please let me know if any of the above worked for you in what you were seeking regarding pan and zoom effect and video transitions.
    Thank you.

  • IMovie 6 HD - TV Screen Images are blurred

How do I created iMovie DVD that plays clear images and text?
I do not want to keep wasting DVDs experimenting for clear result.
I created iMovie per instructions from another post:
    imported screenshots of website using KenBurns effect;
set the effect to 1.0 to stop zooming, and did not allow iMovie to render movie when exporting.
Discussion indicated that blurred image in iMovie would be clear on TV screen.
Imported snapshots were crystal clear in Preview and Photoshop.
Imported iMovie to iDVD and burned DVD.
DVD plays blurred images and text.

Are you saying I should size any still images at 768x576 pix before importing them into iMovie since that is TV resolution?
If you are using PAL, yes. For NTSC, the resolution is 640x480 pixels.
Does it matter what dpi the images are?
No, the dpi is of NO concern in video.
If snapshot captures screen images at 72dpi,
does it help to increase dpi of image in Photoshop?
    No.
or is that only interpolating dpi since capture was at 72dpi?
    Yes.

Images are blurred once a pdf file is generated. Don't understand why. Please let me know a solution to get pictures with better clarity after generating a pdf .

  • Black page background flashes grey when zooming on images

When I'm previewing my book on iPad I see that when I zoom in on an image (single image gallery widget) the page background which is black flashes grey momentarily. This happens on ipad but not when I preview on the mac.
Seems like the page wants to revert to the default white background everytime I click an image widget. Any way to set a book wide black background color? I currently create the page background colour by placing a black rectangle object in the background.
    Thanks anyone for any tips!

It seems there's a default setting when zooming on images that fades the background from white to black (I guess Apple is presuming all pages are white)? Anyone who have pages with colour background notice this?

  • Upoading files file images are too small to see on file upload screen

Upon wanting to send photos or files via email when i come to the file upload screen the images are very small and almost impossible to see.this is affecting both safari and firefox.how can i make the images larger so i can see what files i am actually uploading?

    Hi,
I am not sure I was clear enough. (EDIT Some testing before finally posting this does show some strangeness)
I was suggesting that in the View Options bit you set the Size to what you want (Before using the Upload site) so that when (and If) you change the View in the Pop Up screen to Icon View the icons are big enough. (See note below though)
List and Column views do show very small Icons that cannot be changed in size, hence the need to use the Icon view and possibly a Naming convention that helps if the pics are very similar like the pic I posted (a whole series of iChat Preferences pics) or possibly deciding before Uploading and creating a sub folder of just the ones to be uploaded.
NOTE:- However I also checked if I set the Icon View in the Finder first to 128 X 128 and then used Google Mail to Add an Attachment the Pop up, view as it were, keeps to the size in the pic I posted.
I will also try Quitting Firefox just in case it is holding some old info.
    I will also try Safari
    EDIT 2
Tried Safari and the Icons are a default size it seems.
Zoom Only makes the selection (of Pics) window bigger/full screen, hiding the Browser (Alt Key and Zoom reduces it again).
Also tried setting the View Options at the Desktop Level (Have yet to use it as the Default)

  • Advancing and Zooming multiple images at the same time.

    Hi All,
I have requested this feature since early Lightroom beta 1, so I'm trying again.
Example: I have multiple images opened up in 'Survey' mode, let's say 3 or 4 mages. Which on my Apple 23' Cinema Display makes for much nicer size reviewing, than the largest 'Thumbnail' setting.
The basic ability to hit a combo-keystroke, and advance all the frames at once in 'Survey' mode, to the next set of images of that same total. You know, same as 'page up' or 'page down' in the thumbnail view in the Grid. Also, to zoom all of them at the same time.
Now, I know IiView Media Pro could do this several years ago, before Microsoft turned it into 'Expressions Media', with 4 images at a time. And like I said, I've been requesting it since early LR beta 1. You know, just add a 'Shift' to the Page Up/Down function keys. Or 'Option' or "Control' key.
I love the Survey mode, but surely we can have up to four, or even a half-dozen images, advance at the same time, instead of adding or subtracting one image at a time. As it currently does.
    Thanks,
    -Sol

Based on the frequency with which this trips up users, the Aperture team is going to have to add a much stronger visual indication that "Primary Only" is active.  Marching ants, anyone?  Or a pink selection marquee?
At least in the Viewer when multiple Images are selected the thin white selection marquee is dropped when Primary Only is active.  There is no such change in the Browser.

  • Choppy/zig-zagging movement on zoomed-in image?

    1-week-old MacBook Pro - Non-Retina - OSX 10.8.2 / 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 750GB HD (currently 522GB free space)
I initially discovered my issue in Photoshop CS6, but just installed the trial of LR 4.2, as well as 4.3RC, to see if the problem persisted, and it does.  My problem is choppy/zig-zagging movement when moving around (two-fingered scrolling using my trackpad) on a zoomed-in image.  Here's a video capture of the problem in Photoshop - and it does the exact same thing in LR.  I did post yesterday in the Photoshop forum but didn't get any advice other than to use a mouse instead of a trackpad...so helpful.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyRBUiDjavM&feature=youtu.be   The image in this video is just a jpg, quite small in file size.
I have adjusted every single scrolling/trackpad option in System Preferences, tried enabling and disabling automatic graphics switching in Energy Saver Preferences, changed all Performance Preferences in PS.  I've also installed all Apple and Adobe updates.  I'm only posting here due to the lack of response in the Photoshop forum, and since the problem appeared in LR, as well.  I brought my computer into Apple yesterday as well, and the "genius" that helped me didn't think that the problem was a hardware/Apple issue, but Adobe-related instead.  Have any of you experienced this?  Thanks in advance for any insight you may have!
(here's my other post, with more detailed information - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4841306)

I have never seen anything like this at all.  I also would try this with a mouse and see if it is related to the trackpad.  A good resource for help from Adobe is to use the Adobe Customer Care page on Twitter.  Those guys are amazingly fast to respond and have been a super help to me a few times in the past.  If anyone can help, it is them.  https://twitter.com/Adobe_Care

  • Select outside image area?

Hello, I am wondering how to select something outside the edges of the file - basically ooutside fo the crop. For instance, when I place a file onto another one and want to make a selection, I can't reach what's outside of the edges of the photo. Is there a way to make it so that you can select outside of the image area? I assume this is a preference or something, but haven't been able to find it. Thanks! Ben

… you still have a selection, you just can't see it any more in CS5, its very confusing and illogical.
The change is that selections now appear to be clipped to the canvas edges, when they in fact extend beyond the canvas. To see this in action move any selection partly outside the canvas area. You will see the selection edges change, and clip to the edges as you move over the edge. It would be very confusing to anyone learning, they would have no idea what is going on.
As far as I can see and offers no advantage. It basically means that selection edges don't preview accurately any more. You have selected areas that you can't see.
Be interesting to hear someone from Adobe explain this change, and what bizzarre logic is involved.

  • Camcorder Display shows smaller image area than FC Viewer

The Camcorder Display (I use a Sony FX1 - but it is like that with every consumer camcorder) shows only about 90 percent !!! of the whole image, that I see, when I look at the video in Final Cut.
Specially in HDV it is very bad. I make videos mainy with stuctures of nature and arcitecture - it is very disturbing, that I cannot get exactly the image area, that I need. Only professional cameras offer an overscanning for the display image, that shows really the whole image, that is recorded!
One solution is to take my iBook with me - in iMovie I can see the live picture exactly as it is recorded.
But that's a very bad workaround to me. I don't want to carry my iBook with me all the time!
How do you solve this problem?
    What are doing?

How do you solve this problem?<<</div>
    1. get a professional camcorder
    - or -
    2. use a pro monitor on location
    - or -
    3. learn to judge your actual image acquisition area - the part not displayed in the viewfinder.
The same thing applies to many 35mm and digital still cameras - even the "pro" models often don't show the entire image area in their viewfinders. It takes some practice, but you should be able to learn how to "see" beyond the viewfinder's limits so you know what you're actually recording.
