Zoom functionality with Crystal reports server

Hello,
in crystal report there's a great functionality to zoom in a diagram. Is this functionality also available when I start the report within InfoView (Crystal Reports Server 2008) ?

in Crystal Reports Designer you can 'zoom in' a diagram, when you right click the mouse and choose this option, but I can't see this option, when I start the report within InfoView.
There's a big difference between choosing this option and zooming the entire report !!

the CRS licensing model does not support Voyager. You may want to consider installing BO Edge or BO Enterprise for this. I would recommend to contact your local SAP sales office to get more information on this.

Creating Crystal Reports with Crystal Report Server XI

Hello,
I am new to Crystal Reports, i installed Crystal Reports Server XI R2 on Windows 2003 server with SP2 and was able to launch Inforview application and also Central Management Console Log On.
I can also see some sample reports which are installed during installation.
Now my next task is to create Crystal Reports using Crystal Report Server XI R2. How can we create a crystal report now by only using Crystal Report Server XI R2?
Do we have to install some other application to create Crystal Reports? I donot see any link on my server which i can use to create crystal reports. The only links which i can see are :

Two ways to create reports:
1) You install the Crystal reports Designer (CRW32.exe).
With your Crystal Report Server, you should also have received a second CD that would have the CR designer.
2) You use the RAS SDK and create reports on the fly using the RAS report creation APIs - .NET or Java. Since you are in the .NET developer forum, I assume you might be interested in the .NET RAS SDK. Here is a list of resources i would recommend:

Does CR 2008 work with Crystal Reports Server 11.5

I currently have CRS 11.5 and am using CRXI. I would like to upgrade CRXI to CR2008 (visual advantage), but not upgrade CRS at this time. Does CR2008 work with CRS11.5? Any known issues to be aware of?

Console login trouble with Crystal Reports Server XI

I installed Crystal Reports Server XI on a new box (replacing old), then applied SP1, and then SP2 bringing it up to the same level as the old box - Version Name: BOXIWIN_SP2 Build Number: 11.0.101.8004.
However, when I restarted the server and logged into Windows, I received the error "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe encountered a problem and needed to close." Although, all the services are running in Central Configuration Manager, I am unable to login to the Central Management Console with the default "Administrator" account (the screen just blanks the User Name: Administrator" field when I click "Log On".
The new server is running Win2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2. Old server is running Win2003 Standard Edition SP2. I am using the same install media as was used on the old server, though installation on the old server was done before W2K3 SP2 was installed. Could it be W2K3 SP2, or perhaps the use or R2 or Enterprise Edition? Any thoughts on how to fix this so I can login to CMC?

XIR1 used to have issues with Microsoft DEP, I don't recall exactly but you can set DEP to windows services only from my computer > properties > data execution prevention.
Also when logging in try changing the URL to (local host on the server, the IP address, or the FQDN) see if that helps. When there is no error the problem is likely not the CMS but could be in the web/app.
I don't think anything that was installed should be starting a file called "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe" Could that have gotten added to the windows run registry key or startup group by accident?
Also if you login to a client tool like crystal reports, business views with administrator what error do you receive?

Issue with Crystal Report Server

Hi,
I have a .Net application that uses Crystal Reports Server. The application runs from two servers through load balancing and one of them hosts RAS(Report Application Server) component as well. The issue I am facing is that the server that does not host RAS gives a timeout error periodically when reports are run, inspite of RAS running fine in the other server.
Can anyone let me know if this problem has been identified before?

XCelsius Engage Server 2008 integration with Crystal Reports Server 2008

Hi there....
I am kinda new to XCelsius and am confused with the integration points XCelsius Engage Server offers for 'Crystal Server 2008' users.
The trial install package for XCelsius Engage Server (SP1) has a binary installation for XCelsius and then for Adobe LifeCycle DataServices. The installation document in the distribution does not talk about what the 'engage server' part is? and how it can get integrated to an existing CS 2008 installation ?
any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated. Also is there a document/white paper explaining how this whole family of CS and XCelsius products fits together ?

To answer your question.....No, I do not. But we have run Crystal Reports using P6 data.
As far as I know Crystal Reports only needs a database of some kind in order to do its thing. Are you attempting to set up a "real time" data link (ODBC) to Crystal via SDK?
If not, you could just build your own P6 exports or develop your own reports that would provide the data for feeding Crystal Reports. Maybe set up an automated Job Service task to run a batch of reports on a daily basis.

Problems with Crystal reports server 2008 VI (Invalid logon information)

I have added a report that connects to the SQL server and also I set up the required ODBC for the report on the server. I could run the report without any issues.
When I add the same report to another folder in CMC or add a new report that uses the same connection, and try to run it, I get the following error.
I did set location and verify database in Crystal designer many times and added the report into CMC, but still it gives me the error.
However the first report that I added still works fine. For some reports it shows the parameter screen and when I enter them and click OK it gives the same error. I checked the logon information and they are correct. Reports work fine in Crystal designer. When I added the report, in the database configuration I selected "Use original database logon information from the report." and entered the SQL user id and password.
error message:
"The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"
I then went back to the database configuration and selected "Use custom database logon information specified here." and entered the ODBC connection info.
With this when I run the report it takes a little longer and again asks me to enter the user id and password, even though I selected "Use same database logon as when report is run" option. Still when I enter the user id and password and click ok it keeps on prompting the same. I kept on entering it for 20 times, still it kept on prompting for the same. I am not sure how to make this work.
The report that I am trying to run has an SQL command (that links with 10+ tables), views and some tables. It also got one dynamic parameter prompt.
Also when I select the item from dropdown box "Table Prefix" and save and come back to the database configuration the option I selected is blank. It seems like CMC is not saving this. I found out that this sometimes happens with the password too.
I have checked on SAP forum and could not find a solution for either of these problems yet.
I do have created a web site with CR developer 2008 that runs the same report and it works there without any issues.
Could any one help me with this?

I assume that you have built your reports with the CR Designer 2008 V1. Try to open the affected report in the CR Designer and select Database->VErify database and save it back into the repository. Does it work?

You would need to enroll the licenses in maintenance if you want to upgrade them.

By design, the product is not able to be installed under the superuser account.
1. Create a new user and specify a home directory for the user without a quota set.
2. Copy or move the installation files to a directory that the new user can read. I suggest you move the installation files directly into the new user's home directory.
3. Logon as the new user (or su - newuser)
4. run the installation shell script using that new user's account.
NOTE: Ensure the system meets the requirements from the supported platforms documents.

Column level access in Crystal Report Server

Hi,I have three fields in my Crystal Report. The crystal report will be exported to PDF by my customised web application. The application has a built in user security and access control model. However if user 1 logs in he should see all the 3 columns(database fields) on the exported PDF. If user 2 logs in he should see only first 2 columns as he has access to only those. We would also be using Crystal Report Server.I know this could be done in Crystal Report itself but is there any way to leverage column level access (and also row level) functionality using Crystal Report Server. The Crystal Report reports off an ODBC Datasource.It would be great if any one could help me in this regard. Cheers.  

If you were running the same version designer and server, you could open your reports straight from the repository, and save them straight back. Then you wouldnt have multiple versions of RPTs flying about.
I have just purchased a new licence for 2008 and an 2008 upgrade for a Xr2.
I don't think I completely understand, but we do have Crystal Reports 2008 and Crystal Reports Server 2008 available for purchase.

Crystal Reports Server 2008 on IIS

Hello, About six months ago we upgraded from CR Server XI to CR Server 2008 and at that time I believe we could only install with Apache Tomcat for CMC and InfoView. Before, we ran in IIS and I immediately noticed how slow the page loads were after the upgrade. Is it possible to use IIS again with Crystal Reports Server?

Tomcat and IIS are both used by many of our customers and both are very reliable in most cases. The advantage of tomcat is all of our apps can be used with it. I'm hoping they release a CRS version with .net built back in but tomcat is usually just as good. I run them both side by side in XIR2 and 3.1, both perform fine for me in DEV environments.

1. In my current VS2005 web application with CR 2008 developer I have done the following :
a. When the user selects a report it prompts for the database that is needs to connect. User could select Test or Live database
b. I could hide the export button for each report
c. Add the same report twice to the same folder under diffrent report descriptions

Crystal Reports Server 2008 on Windows 2003 Server

We have Crystal Reports Server 2008 installed on Windows 2003 Server. Pretty standard install.
On the same Windows 2003 Server, we have IIS setup to host some other sites (data.mycompany.com, intranet.mycompany.com). Now since Crystal Reports Server 2008 is running through Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 that is installed with Crystal Reports Server 2008. I need to setup something like reports.mycompany.com for reporting server. Since it is not in IIS and it does not seem that this install of Tomcat allows you to set this up to point to reports.mycompany.com. I need some feedback on how to set this up.

Upgrading from CR 10 Embedded Edition to Crystal Reports (server) xi

We recently upgraded from CR10 Embedded edition to Crystal Reports Server Xi. In our application the users access the reports via a web page (where they enter the paratemeters) and the report is displayed using the Crystal Reports viewer. The CR server xi was recently installed and all the SDK references have been as mentioned in this document: https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/724. But now when the reports are accessed via the web page we are encountering the error 'All of your system's 0 Concurrent Access Licenses are in use at this time or your system's license key has expired. Try again later or contact your administrator to obtain additional licenses.---- Error code:-2147217397 Error code name:enterpriseLogonFailed'
Can anyone share your thoughts or provide suggestions?

Hello SG,
A common issue that arises when migrating from Crystal Enterprise 10 Embedded to Crystal Reports Server XI applications that use the Report Application Server (RAS) SDK.
The RAS supports two modes of operation - "Unmanaged" and "Managed" reporting.
With CE10Embedded, you'd be using Unmanaged Reporting, where you'd copy the Crystal Report rpt file to the RAS server, and reference it by path when opening it in the ReportClientDocument class instance.
With Crystal Reports Server XI, you can use either Unmanaged Reporting, or Managed Reporting. Managed means you'd publish the rpt file to be "managed" by the CR Server Central Management Server (CMS). In code, you'd log onto the CR Server, retrieve the ReportAppFactory from the CMS, retrieve the report from the InfoStore, and pass it into the ReportAppFactory to create the ReportClientDocument.
I'm assuming you're still using "Unmanaged Reporting" with Crystal Reports Server.
If so, each report request will be authenticated in the CMS using the "Guest" account, and each request will use up a Concurrent Access License (CAL).
If you're getting the exception on the first report request, then that likely means you have the complimentary copy of CR Server XI, that comes with zero CALs and five Named User Licenses.
You won't be able to use unmanaged reporting with the complimentary version. You may want to modify your code to use managed reporting.
If you're getting the exception on the sixth or subsequent request, then that likely means you've purchased CR Server XI, and the base edition comes with 5 CALs.
If you contact sales, you can inform them of the number of users you have, and how frequently they request reports, and sales can recommend a license to match your requirements.

Crystal Report Server 9 - licenses problem

I am using ASP with Crystal Report Server 9 in an inhouse web application which provides many online reportings.
Here is my problem : when the number of concurrent reporting request increases, the RAS could not respond. Check from IIS log and found the following error :

The RAS would then keep in a very high utilization and what I have to do is to either restart the RAS service or the RAS server in order to get it operating again.
Sometimes it affects the IIS (my guess) as users' front end program would also hang up. Note that my IIS and RAS resides in different servers.
Questions
Is the problem ( high utilization and non-responsive ) caused by the licenses ?
Whether I need to purchase additional user licenses for the RAS or anything I could do to fix the problem ?
If the projected number of users is about 150, do I need to buy each user a licence ( total 150 lcenses ) ? Is there any server license that could support such population of users ?

RAS 9 has been out of support for years now and licenses can no longer be purchased as far as I know.
If the projected number of users is about 150, do I need to buy each user a licence ( total 150 lcenses ) ? Is there any server license that could support such population of users ?
You will have to talk to sales to see about moving to a newer supported platform for that number of users.
