Zoom in flash

http://projects.nytimes.com/census/2010/map
you see the zoom in/zoom out thing they are using.
Does anyone know how to do it or have an example?
Thanks.

Zooming is normally done by changing the scaleX/scaleY properties of an object.  In the case of that site they appear to be planting the data on the map dynamically since it is being rewritten each time at a similar font size.

    In IE if a web site opens in a new window and uses flash player there is no zoom available.
    Right click has no zoom options.
    Also windows zoom using ctrl+mouse wheel only zooms the rest of the page and the image stays the same size.
    This works in win xp.

  • Flash movie in Safari in Macbook Pro Retina Display zooming issue

    Hello,
    On Macbook Pro Retina Display in Safari browser, zooming any flash application in browser does not work properly.
    I have made a YouTube video showing the problem in action:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi1d1x8bpnA
    When I zoom in and out using two fingers pinch zooming does not go as expected - it is zooming into bits outside of the zoom area while the zooming is in the process.
    Please fix the issue.
    Thanks.
    Andrey
    P.S:
    I have also created an Adobe BugBase bug report here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3323043

    Hi Steffen....!!
    The phenomenon which you just described is absolutely not common in the late 2013 retina macbook. Even I have the same model but I have never noticed such sounds neither during normal operations nor after tilting it.
    I am afraid, but it seems to be a hardware issue. Might be because the fan assembly has become loose due to which its touching the other parts.
    There is also a possibility  that some dirt or small piece of something might have gone inside the macbook through the air vents which may be interfering with the fan mechanism. I think so you can try to open the back cover of the macbook and see if something is interfering with the fans if your macbook is out of warranty. If its covered with Apple care, I suggest take it to Apple store and let them diagnose the issue.
    Hope this helps......

  • Flash zoom behaviour in HD resolutions

    Hi!
    Ever since i've bought a new HD laptop (with an absolute minimum resolution of 1920x1080) it's been a pain to properly view some websites. The most annoying being flash frames.
    Using sites like kongregate.com (and many other), with firefox and a little page zoom, the flash window rarely fills the designated space. Zooming in (with the flash menu) overfloods the frame and only by then zooming out does it finnaly fit to the proper dimensions.
    This is a big inconvenience by itself, but it becomes exasperating (and completely voids the playability of some games or the watching of some videos) when this workaround is rarely possible due to the fact that the zoom feature is very often unavailable.
    Disabling the option to have context menus replaced in advanced javascript (in firefox options), doesn't help.
    Is there any plans to adress HD compatibility issues in the next Flash player build?
    Is there a way to insure the zoom feature is always present in all flash embedments?

    If you feel like you've run into a bug, I'd recommend opening a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com.
    However, I suspect your issue is with the content providers and not Flash itself.  A Flash developer will be able to create a fullscreen application and scale the graphics appropriately if needed with the Flash Player 11.3 release (which will be out soon).  I do not believe Flash's context menu for zoom will accomplish what you are trying to do as it does not increase the viewing area, but instead just zooms on the area where the click occurred.

  • Flash Crashing on Ctrl +

    Good afternoon,
    Recently I've been having a completely bizarre issue with Flash Pro CS5 which is bothering me to no end.
    Whenever I hit Ctrl + Plus (the keyboard shortcut to zoom). Flash will completely disappear from my taskbar, as if it is crashed. However, looking at the task manager, although nothing can be seen in 'Applications', under 'Processes Flash is still visible.
    To restart Flash, I have to manually kill this process then reopen it.
    This does not happen when you use the manual zoom controls in the toolbar, nor does it happen when I zoom out via the shortcut (Ctrl + Minus)
    Even if I reassign the zoom function to another button combo, (like Ctrl + ] ) It will still crash on me, making me think it's not a conflict with another program. I have temporarily just completely disabled the zoom shortcut altogether.
    Anyone else experienced this error and have any clue what I can do? It's driving me batty, because zooming is a pretty constant part of my workflow.
    I am running Windows 7 Enterprise.

    Thanks Sinious and Sudeshna. Your help is very much appreciated. It is a very strange issue, and something i've never come across in my many years of using Flash.
    I removed the preferences files, but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. The problem appears to be unique to Flash, I use a number of Adobe products and I haven't been able to reproduce it in any others.
    I couldn't find anything in the AMT3.log that stuck out, but here it is:
    http://pastebin.com/rum3L40D
    I am going to liase with our IT Department to reinstall the program, as unfortunately I do not have access to do so myself. Hopefully that will help the issue!

  • Importing SWF Into CS4 Flash Stage Results in text errors

    I have a inDesign CS4 (.4 update) exported SWF that behaves badly when it is imported into Flash Pro CS4 (.2 update).
    Hyphens in the text on word breaks are being changed into question marks. Font used is Arial.
    The SWF ( attached) views fine in Flash Player 10, but produces the errors when imported to the stage. I have tried all settings (Text to Vector Paths, Text to Flash text) but the result is the same. Rasterizing the text is unacceptable because text quality is severely reduced on zooming the Flash document.
    If you try importing the attached SWF to a blank file stage, you will see the errors on page 3.
    So far, the only fix I have is creating all text in flash.
    Any ideas?

    Did you read the original post?
    I'm creating an Emagazine in InDesign CS4. There is no option to imbed fonts in the exported SWF, nor should there be any need there as the same computer system is creating the flash magazine. I have tried both Arial and Times fonts with the same end result. The Emagazine works just fine with the exception of the font issue.
    In the original post, I also attached examples of the issue. If you open the SWF in Flash player, it shows the correct fonts. Once imported to the stage in Flash CS4, the errors appear.

  • Horizontal bar with red for negative and green for positive?

    I need to use CF9 to create horizontal bar chart where the intensity of the red (negative) is determined by the amount of negativity of the values and similarly the intensity of the green is based on the amount of positivity of the values.
    See attached snapshot. Ignore the value label.
    Can CF10 do this. I briefly looked but does not appear so.
    Any advice? THANKS!!

    Yes, with the new charting engine it is possible to do this with rules.  Check out my example at http://www.cfuser.com/library/demos/index.cfm?do=charting&get=bcr.  You have to set the threshholds and the colors.  The colors are two part to allow for gradients. I have also just posted a write-up at http://www.cfuser.com/rules-preview-zoom-and-flash/

  • Photo Quality

    Quite disappointed with the camera on the phone. I can live with no zoom, no flash and not being able to send any photos I've taken by either MMS or bluetooth. I could even live with not being able to take pictures in dark places such as at a concert, a club or even down the pub, but pictures in reasonably well lit indoor locations seem quite dreadful.
    50 % of them are blurred, I know I should hold the camera really still, but I really try hard and it's not as though I have some form of illness that makes me shake. Even in most of the photos I exclude from the blurred group there are parts that are blurred.
    In addition to this many of the photos have poor colour definition.
    I appreciate the photos look fairly good on the iphone, but not once they are downloaded to the computer and viewed at actual resolution they look pretty dreadful. I've uploaded some photos I've taken (of anything really, just to demonstrate) and placed them in my web gallery, I just wondered if these were the sort of quality everyone was getting or whether I was missing something.
    To be honest the web gallery sort of blurs them and in some ways makes them look a little better, for best comparison, anyone who wants to see them properly should download them and view them at 100% size.
    I've seen posts that say you need to hold your finger on the capture button for a little while to let the camera adjust, but the user guide doesn't seem to support this and anyway I've tried it and it doesn't make any difference.
    Any insight would be welcome.

    Can see I'm not going to get an answer here, deleting the album on my web gallery and closing the post.

  • High Contrast Controls?

    In 'settings' what does changing 'High Contrast Controls' do?

    High Contrast Controls affect how controls in the Photoshop Express camera look. With it enabled, you should see bolder icons when the in camera mode. For example, the zoom slider, flash selector, etc.will look more prominent when viewed against the background of the live camera image. This feature is off by default.
    Hope that helps...

  • Problem: Scalable canvas with affine transformation

    I'm trying to create a canvas that can be scrolled and is scalable through affine transformations. This, I'm trying to achieve by adding a control component to an existing Canvas that listens for MouseEvents and masks the area outside the area defined by the canvas when the control component is created. The base for this component was http://gasi.ch/blog/zooming-in-flash-flex/.
    Next I'm explain how the component is supposed to work and then on to the problem.
    This is how the canvas is created. In the constructor MouseListeners and a mask canvas is added to dragCanvas.
              var canvasControl:MatrixCanvasMouseControl = new MatrixCanvasMouseControl(dragCanvas);
    The listeners work pretty much the same way as in the link I mentioned earlier. So on to the scaling which is the problem.
    The scaling is done by first scaling the dragCanvas with method scaleAt(...):
    /** START OF MOUSE WHEEL LISTENER */
              // CUT
              // get the mouseevent position in stage
              var eventStagePoint:Point = new Point();
                        eventStagePoint.x = event.stageX;
                        eventStagePoint.y = event.stageY;
              // scale dragCanvas at that point with scaleAt
              scaleAt(canvas, zoomIn, zoomIn, canvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).x, canvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).y);
              // CUT
    /** END OF MOUSE WHEEL LISTENER  */
             * Scales the matrix through affine transformation.
            public static function scaleAt(sprite:Sprite, scaleX:Number, scaleY:Number, originX:Number, originY:Number):void
                var translateMatrix:Matrix = sprite.transform.matrix;
                // move to origo to preserve form
                translateMatrix.translate(-originX, -originY);
                // scale the matrix
                translateMatrix.scale(scaleX, scaleY);
                // move back to originX, originY
                translateMatrix.translate(originX, originY);
                sprite.transform.matrix = translateMatrix;
    This scales the maskCanvas also. Next I'm trying to scale the maskCanvas back to it's original position by:
              MatrixHelper.scaleAt(maskCanvas, (1 / zoomIn), (1 / zoomIn), maskCanvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).x * (1 / zoomIn), maskCanvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).y * (1 / zoomIn));
    The problem is that when the Canvas is scaled, the mask  changes it's position when I try to scale it back to it's original size and position (as it's size and position changed when dragCanvas was scaled because maskCanvas is a child of dragCanvas).
    This might not be the best way to achieve scrolling. I also thought about extending Canvas and creating a parent Canvas that would contain dragCanvas and maskCanvas as it's children. That way scaling one would not affect the other. The problem with this was that I didn't find a way to do that without overriding Canvas functionality. If anyone knows and could explain how this could be done effectively for example by "decorating" it would be great.
    I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this. I've struggled with it for quite a few hours already.
    I know I haven't explained everything clearly, so, please, ask me to clarify things more, if this was not understandable.

    OK, I found a hacky solution to my problem by going through every rawChildren of the canvas and then scaling it if it's id didn't match with the one I created in the mouseControl component.
    This does not seem like a very elegant way but at least it works.
    I'm pretty sure that this should be done whole differently architecturally but I'm not experienced enough to find that way.
    So this is how I did it.
    for (i = 0; i < canvas.rawChildren.numChildren; i++) {
         child = canvas.rawChildren.getChildAt(i) as Object;
         if (!child is DisplayObject) {
              continue;
         transformAllowed = false;
         displayChild = DisplayObject(child);
         if (displayChild.hasOwnProperty("id") && (displayChild["id"] == "maskCanvas" || displayChild["id"] == "mouseControlArea")) {
              transformAllowed = false;
         } else {
              transformAllowed = true;
         if (transformAllowed) {
              MatrixHelper.scaleAt(displayChild, zoomOut, zoomOut, canvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).x, canvas.globalToLocal(eventStagePoint).y);

    i  wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do? plz suggest

    The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera.  It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc.   There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

    Kinda cool how it uses the metal band around the outside as part of the antenna system.
    Camera is better, 5 mega pixels, 5x digital zoom, led flash, video camera can record in 720p HD, ect.

    Anybody know a little more about the pricing plan? They're saying if your contract expires in 2010 they will honor the old contract details. I have two phones, a 3gs and a 2g. The 2g was added as part of the "Family Plan", meaning I'm able to carry the 2g at an additional $9.99 a month. Any idea if that will be allowed or am I going to have to plunk down the new rates for the iPhone4 in addition to my 3gs plan?

  • Satellite Pro C650 - Which startup programs can I disable?

    After about two weeks with a new Satellite Pro C650 that I bought for my wife, a lightweight user, she is about to throw it at me.
    Everything runs slowly. Click start: wait. Open the Control Panel: wait. The wait time is in the range of 20 - 30 seconds. Internet is often slower - especially Internet Explorer, which often goes into a Not Responding state. (Google Chrome performs better although it's not great either) Steps taken so far include a defrag of the C: drive, which was 5% defragmented. I ran a troubleshooting scan off of the Control Panel and it informs me that I have loads of programs running on start-up and suggests I disable some. I had read previously that this is a problem with this Toshiba.
    The question then is what to disable? I don't know what most of the programs are or what they do. I'll list the programs here and then gladly take suggestions. By the way, BitDefender was listed three times in the start-up list. I disabled two of them for what it's worth.
    The only apps I downloaded were BitDefender and Adobe Acrobat. McAfee antivirus has been removed. Other laptops in the house work fine with the same wireless broadband connection. Hoping someone can help out and tell me what I can disable.
    The Start-up list:
    SAIICpl Application
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
    Message Center
    SmartFaceVWatcher
    Catalyst Control Center
    Nero BackItUp
    Default Manager
    BitDefender 2011 (listed three times)
    Adobe Acrobat
    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
    All of these Toshiba applications:
    - Power Saver
    - Zooming Utility
    - Flash Cards
    - ReelTime
    - TEMPRO
    - HDD SSD Alert
    - Volume Regulators
    - Notebook Registration
    - Service Station
    - Web Camera Application
    Thanks.

    Hi
    First of all you can find out yourself what the single applications do and what are controlled by these apps use google to get more details.
    But Nero BackItUp, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager can be disabled wihotu having any problems with the notebook
    TEMPRO is a Toshiba tool which scans the systems and provides info about new Toshiba driver updates
    Its your own personal decision if you want to use it or not
    Notebook Registration helps you to register the notebooks warranty and Service Station provides some option to optimize the notebooks performance but its nice to have but its not very important
