Zoom in/out part of a picture

Dear All,
Could anyone please explain how to zoom in/out a particular part of a photo in AE? I had the tutorial once but I seem to have difficulty finding it. It had something to do with 'the anchor point'. It is a simple task with just a few steps but I cannot remember.
Thank you very much.

When you scale an image, it scales around the anchor point.
This search pulls up a few tutorials about panning and zooming an image and using the anchor point to control the center of the zoom/scale.

  • How to blank out part of a picture in LR 3?

Update:  I found that the clone tool can do what I want.  If there is a better way though, I would be interested.
I have a picture I want to post in a public on-line forum, but there are some cars in the scene and the license plate numbers are clearly visibile.  I don't know whose cars they are, but I doubt they want their license plate numbers posted in a public forum.  So I would like to blank them out before posting the picture on-line.
I used the LR 3 adjustment brush with the exposure set to zero and brushed over the plate numbers.  And indeed it did it did turn them black.  But just to be sure they detail couldn't be recovered, I then increased the exposure for the entire picture and found that the numbers because visibile again as the overall exposure increased.
Is there a way in LR 3 to blank out these numbers in a way that no one could use a photo editing program to recover the details in the blanked out area?  If it matters, the picture is a .jpg, not RAW.

Thanks.  I just tried your suggestion.  However, after exporting I used another editing program on the exported photo, increased the overall brightness, and could read the numbers.  At normal brightness they appear blacked out, like they did at the time of exporting them from LR.
I had the brush density and flow both at 100, so I am not sure whether there are other settings I need to change to make it work as intended. It would be easier to use the brush than to use cloning.  But then this is not something I do often (this is the first time, actually), so any method that works is OK. But it would be good to learn how to use the brush to do this, just for my own LR learning purposes.
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • How can I make a picture fit entirely in the photo box in a book.  The picture size is small, but the it only shows part of the picture, and the zoom is all the way down.

I am trying to make a Photo Book using IPhoto for my granddaughter's wedding.  I am using 6 pictures per page, as I have many pictures to add to book.
The picture size is small.  But when I zoom is all the way down to the end to make smaller.  Doesn't go far enough.  When I try to put a picture in the square spot, it cuts off part of the picture.  Has anyone else had this problem, and could help me out.  I really would like to put on each page even more pictures, but that is not an option with IPhoto.  I have used other sites to make books.  This is my first try with IPhoto.   I may have to revert to the old familiar ones.  Wanted to give this one a try.  My granddaughter leaves for Germany on the 21st to join her marine husband.  I am quickly running out of time.  (The wedding was this past Saturday)

Place it the book, right click on it and fit to frame

  • Zoom only works on outer parts of photo

Very strange thing happening in LR5.6. When I go to zoom in on an image it only works on the outer 2/3s of the photo. it seems I can't zoom when clicking in the center. Same goes for when it is zoomed and I want to click the centre and drag to move to recenter the photo somewhere else. If I click on the centre it just does nothing. Also I can see that normally when I hover the mouse over the image, it shows the magnifying glass over those outer parts but when I move to the middle it just shows the mouse pointer, and same for when zoomed, the hand icon changes to mouse pointer. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
I am running a brand new iMac on OSX 10.9.4 Mavericks and have the CC version of LR installed and updated. The problem seems to be sporadic so I'm not sure if it's an Apple problem?

I'm having the same problem with the iWeb 09 Hit Counter on MobileMe. It worked fine until I republished the site under a new name. Now I can't get it to appear no matter what I try (including moving it around in the 150 px footer area. The javascript looks fine in the source code (see below), so I'm wondering if this is an iWeb/MobileMe bug? My hunch is that the javascript call to get the counter is not working correctly on the server end. Here's the code that also shows the proper footer value:
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="http://web.me.com/i/chp/NGHitCounter.js"></script><script type="text/javascript"
    src="http://web.me.com/rbrisson2/.Counters/63346ED0-8119-49BB-8DE5-8EC27C322A09?webda v-method=propget&counter"></script>
Any help on how to fix this “break” in the javascript call would be appreciated!

How do I zoom in or out before taking a picture?

You can not take pictures with iPhoto - is this by chance an iPhone question? on the iPhone you use two fingers to squeeze the photo and then use the zoom slider that appears at the bottom of the screen

  • How do I make one part of a picture black and white and rest color?

I am working on new campaign for Vi-spring orange county. I need to take a photograph of a woman with a bare back sitting on a mattress and make part of the picture in black and white and the other part in color. I then need to insert an outline of a spine on top in a bright color. I would really appreciate some help on how to start.

I think what we need is a little more information.
When you say you want to make part of the image black and white, do you want to make certain areas of the image black and white or just do away with certain colors in the photo. You can do a selective color and get rid of all but one color ie. A red rose in a green field, take out all the green in the image and the red in the rose is the only thing that has color. Or you can take out one color and leave the rest of the colors in, so basically the oppsite of what I just explained.
If you want certain sections of a image black and white ie. a room with a bed in it make the whole room black and white and keep the bed in color...you need to look into masking.
If you want to do masking I can find you a tutorial for it, but I need to know if i'm on the right track.

  • My picture files open up off center so I cannot see all of the bottom part of the picture.

    Hi,
My picture files open up off center so I cannot see all of the bottom part of the picture. The ruler across the top read "0" to 13.5". Down the left side of the picture the ruler reads 3", 2",1", 0, 1", 2",3" etc. This leaves a three inch empty space at the top of my viewing area and I lose three inches of the bottom of my picture. I cannot figure out how to adjust this. I have tried the screen modes  and they do not fix my problem.  What can I do to solve this problem?

  • SX700 has a loud zoom in/out, which got picked up by the video. Is it normal?

    Hi All,
I just received my Canon SX700 and went out for a test today. The picture quality wes good, the video image quality was great as well. I heard zooming in and out sound when I was shooting the video using SX700. After I came home and play it on my computer, the zooming in/out sound is indeed loud and clear. In addition, I heard clicking sound in some zooming in and out as well. Is it normal? Is it an one off defect? Should I return it? And comment/ suggestion/ advice is appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Sally

The noise you can here is the zoom motor stopping and starting and very little you can do about it. The internal microphone is only doing it's job... picking ALL the sound up it detects.
These cameras in the video mode is only a gimmick, the quality of these internal microphones leaves a lot to be desired, the only way round it is to use an external microphone, whether these cameras have that facility I can't say, do consult your user manual on using an external mic.

  • How to colorize parts of a picture in black and white with Aperture?

Hello, I have a question: How to colorize parts of a picture in black and white with Aperture?

Use the Black & White Brick and then brush in or brush out.
You'll find this and several excellent methods listed in the "More Like This" box in the column to the right of these messages.  (This comes up regularly -- and while the "More Like This" is a roundabout way to get there, you'll find your answers.)

  • Is there a way to maintain the zoomed in look as my final picture?

is there a way to maintain the zoomed in look as my final picture when I'm editing in
    Iphoto?

I have no idea what you are thinking but zooming lets you view a portion of a photo closer. Cropping let's you're move part of a photo leaving only the uncropped portion  if you could save (which you can not do in iPhoto) that is exactly what you would get and exactly what would be phased to any other program for further editing
    cropping is the only way

  • Zoom in/out in vision

I'm using PCI1409 board and sony's CCD camera.
I want to grab/snap every pixel of CCD, but show in half scale.
(that means, CCD 640x480 pixel, buffer size is 640x480, but canvas size is 320x240)
I want save the every pixel value and show half scale in the panel. (test software in MAX does it well)
    How can I make it?
And tell me about the difference between picture and canvas control.

    Kaist,
Are you using the new IMAQ Image Control that was introduced with LabVIEW 7.0 and IMAQ 2.6? With this Image Control you can zoom in/out of your image. Since this is only for the display, it will not affect your actual pixel values. Best of all, this is included in LabVIEW and you will not need Vision.
If you need to use the picture control, you may have to create a new array and parse out every other row and column yourself.

  • Zooming text out starting off screen

    Hi all,
I'm trying to recreate the Star Wars title sequence and have no problem with the scrolling text, but I'm being dumb with the actul logo zooming out.
I'm aiming to start with text zoomed right in so that some of the text is off screen. And then set it to zoom out so it is readable. But Changing the scale of the text to be zoomed in and part off screen just means that when I zoom out the edges are clipped and it zooms out the visible part of the text.
Please point out where I'm missing the obvious!
    Thanks!!

When you create a new title, it gives you a chance to size it. The default in a fairly standard HD sequence looks like this:
Just add a zero to each value. That ought to give you plenty of room to work! (Edit: I just noticed it resized it for me!)

  • How do i zoom into a part of the screen during playback in QT 7.6.6?

I'm analyzing my racing vid from this past weekend and would like to zoom into a part of the screen and cant seem to figure this out.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Joe
    QT 7.6.6 Pro
    Windows xp pro
crappy HP laptop but I can go to my desktop Mac Pro

There is no feature in QuickTime Player to zoom into a part of the screen. You can change the size of the full frame (using the options under the View menu or by just dragging the QT Player window larger), but that's the only "zoom" type capability that exists.
    Regards.

Now I can not get or see any of my photos how do I reverse what I did? can I take that I Life back out and how? with out losing all my pictures? and how do you burn to DVDs now without IDVD?

    Diane,
Your photos are in the iPhoto Library. Almost certainly that is intact, so don't worry.
Go to your Home folder and open the folder called Pictures. What you want is in there, iPhoto Library. Don't do anything there, this is just to reassure yourself.
So it is a matter of getting the iPhoto app to work. Apps are in the Applications folder. Find it and trash it.
    Next download iPhoto:

I don't have a solution for you, but just wanted to let you know I used to have the exact same problem. I resolved it (for the most part....about 90% of the time, anyway) by adjusting the screensaver and power settings to never let the computer go to sleep.
