Zoom in to nudge???

I thought I have done this before, but maybe not?
I was time aligning some drums the other day, and could not get the region to nudge just a little bit, when I had the region zooomed in real close. What is the deal? Is their some global grid on, that I don't know about?

you could try "smart" instead of "ticks" and also you can defeat the snapping action by pressing control when you slide a region.

    Versions:
    Illustrator CS6, latest update
    Mac OS X 10.9.4
    FontAgent Pro 6.2
    Troubleshooting I've tried
    -trashed all related Illus. preferences
-updated the only plug-in being used (FontAgent Pro), to the latest
-disabled all but absolutely necessary fonts
-repaired both system and user permissions
-quit all other apps, so that only Illus. running.
    -fonts verified
Was never a problem until a couple weeks ago, so the obvious question is "what changed?".  The two things we changed in the time period that the crashing started, is we replaced a balky external drive with a new one, and started our TimeMachine backups over again. And #2, we updated to the latest CS6 versions (due to other quirky issues).
One odd thing to point out...perhaps is "normal", but in the crash reports, it's reporting that Illustrator is 16.0.0, but "About Illustrator" shows that it's 16.2.2.
Everything else running fine on this iMac -- no reason to suspect it's the operating system.
Has anyone run into this bug? If so, what have you done to fix this?
I've not seen anything like this mentioned in Adobe's update change logs or their troubleshooting info.

-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select "Navigation Toolbar"
-> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset"
-> go to View Menu -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
-> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on ALL Options -> click "Clear Now"
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extension (add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable the Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • Nudge Ken Burns zoom location

I want to line up two still frames--one that ends after a Ken Burns zoom (in) and the following one that "freezes" where the zoom ended. Is there a way to nudge the location of the ending zoom (or beginning zoom for the following frame)? When I try this I don't have fine enough mouse control to line them up accurately so there is a small jump from one to the next.
    Any help?

I want to line up two still frames--one that ends after a Ken Burns zoom (in) and the following one that "freezes" where the zoom ended. Is there a way to nudge the location of the ending zoom (or beginning zoom for the following frame)?
    Very easily done.
    1) Create original KBE.
    2) Select the image containing the KBE and press "Command-C" to copy data/settings to temporary memory.
    3) De-select the image, move playhead to end of segment, and press "Command-V" to copy data to project window.
    4) Select the newly added image and open the Crop Tool window.
    5) Press the Start-End Revers icon to swap red and green KBE windows.
    6) With the old End window now set as the new Start window, press the "Crop" button.
    7) exit the Crop Tool window and set the timing duration for the "Hold" image.
If you have followed these instruction correctly, you should now have a seamless transition from your KBE image to your "still" image.

  • Zoom in Permanently?

I have a lovely 27" display and Safari defaults to a very small font size and as my eyes need thicker reading glasses,  "Command +" two or three times and it's the way I want it.
The problem is that I have to do this for every page.  Some have suggested Prefs>Appearance>Select font/size  but it does nothing! I want the page to zoom, not just the font.  Using Univesal access zooms the whole screen not just the Safari page.
I've sent this in as a "bug" to apple. I don't think they have this on their priority list d;^D.....
I just tried calling and they don't even have Saturday hours at Apple"Care"!  I guess all that cash in the bank can't be spent on hiring a weekend crew as they get more market share. (Was it OS7 or 6 that Apple had 24 hours support?) A few more jobs in North America Mumbai to help the economy!
Sorry about the dig: Apple, you make some good products and I've brought many PC users in but my guess is there is not a single user (stockholders excluded) that wouldn't like more suppport.
Any other ideas in the community, as we are now called?!
    Thanks. David

  • Nudging audio in very small increments

    Hello,
First, full disclosure, total n00b to video editing in general.  I've done a lot of audio mixing and edit over the years.
In some ways I'm getting ahead of myself on this particular little project, I have not (yet) put in the time I should in general learning about iMovie.  I don't yet know the names of windows etc.  Time is a bit of the essence to get something done is the reason I'm posting here; I do realize I need to do some general learning before getting frustrated over a small item like this.
That all said, my specific issue is that I'm not able to "nudge" an audio track with enough fine control to sync it properly.  This project is a live band video, and I have remixed the audio tracks (which were recorded separately as 24 tracks).  The original audio is still there, although I've detached it.  I'm leaving it there to make it easier to sync as I can see drum hits etc.  For this particular song it starts "all in" so it's very easy to see the beginning of the audio.  So to set the stage so to speak I have two audio tracks: the original and my new one.  They appear pretty much identical so it *should* be very easy to make sure they are lined up.  However...even zoomed all the way in I can't get it exactly lined up.  My new audio "jumps" from too far ahead to too far behind.  In audio software this behavior would make me think "snap to grid is on"...I turned off the only two settings (under View) that sounded like a snap feature.
    I've tried a number of things and either;
    - the software has a limitation on audio resolution (as far as moving goes) and I'd have to hard-edit my track in Logic by a few milliseconds...seems crazy
    or
    - I'm missing a setting that would let me do this.
I appreciate any info you might give me on this.  I'll still keep messing with it and learning, but any info that would help me get this video synced up quickly would be much appreciated.  Tough to be so close yet so far!

Yes, Final Cut Pro would let you get it very close.
FCPX has a big learning curve, but on the other hand, you can import your iMovie Project and Event and go on from there.
If you decide to sync it automatically, there are some good video tutorials on how to use the Multicam feature.

  • Is there a nudge or move key? for sound clips?

I am trying to sink (right spelling?)screams to a video... Exactly in place. I am using the multitrack viewer and zooming in, but cant seem to nudge the sound clips that tiny bit, .. is there a nudge key?

    hey there anita,
you can use the arrow keys or magnify/zoom the timeline(i think in the lower left corner) to make it easier to slide clips around to where you want them.
    good luck.

  • How to nudge audio file less than 1 tenth a second on time bar

    I'm using FCE 4.0.1
I need to either move the video/audio file or the separate audio file brought in from Logic to line up with one another (they are the same audio, just denoised and EQed a bit in Logic. I've zoomed in to line the waveforms up, but they are just slightly off, and when I try to nudge one or the other into sync visually the file I'm moving jumps to the next point on the timebar and is off in the other direction. For example the section I'm trying to nudge jumps from 4:01:14 to 4:01:15, but the wave peak I'm attempting to sync it with is in between those two points, so it jumps past it. This will cause echoing and phasing issues.
Is there a way to drag files in the timeline linearly rather than from arbitrary point to point? I've tried shortening and re-bouncing the audio file, but it lines up the same way.
I'm new to FCE, and I'm trying to edit shots from 2 cameras at a concert along with the mixed audio? I'm trying to line the footage up with the audio by matching the waveforms by eye. What am I missing, is there an easier way to do this?
    Thanks

  • New user:  I can't find the zoom option (to try and sync audio tracks/sources wav to a clap)

Hi guys.  I LOVE the rendering speed/quality etc of single videos but I'm running into trouble syncing videos/audio from 3 sources.  Basically I have a Nikon D7000 and an Iphone taking two angles of me playing guitar.  I want to sync all of them to an audio clap or a click but I can't seem to find the zoom option where I can get right in on the wav files to match the peaks of the clap.  I am also having trouble with the video clips I am dragging seem to lock magnetically to other clips or wherever my playback marker is.  I want the clips to drag/move freely (and tiny increments) and not lock into any time interval etc.
I also would like to find the mute button for some of the tracks.  It seems to be really basic stuff, but I can't seem to locate anything obvious to zoom, drag and get my timeline in sync.
It took me a long time to sync my audio to an iphone angle for this clip:
    http://youtu.be/4B9TMQg9KXQ?list=UUd_A29XG4JvzkyGNcuXcuiQ
My D7000 is a MUCH better image, but juggling that, my iphone angle and the audio that gets recorded by my DAW is a struggle.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply with details of your Premiere Elements version and computer operating system.
    1. Zooming in on clap in wave form of audio - assorted maneuvers
You could always change the audio track size, but that is not going to give you anywhere near the detail that you will get by
alt clicking the audio portion of the Timeline file (to temporarily unlink audio from the video and then double clicking that Timeline
audio file to bring up its waveform in the Preview Window and noting the clap time at playback there.
With the video and audio relink again, as you can hold down the alt key and tap the left or right arrow key, you can move the Timeline linked clip from right to left or left to right
for alignment purposes to the clap time.
When you need only the video portion of the video audio linked file in the Preview Windows, then you omit the alt click on the audio portion.
If needed, you could always set unnumbered markers at the Timeline level or in the Preview Windows.
For Timeline video audio nudges....as you hold down the alt key and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a one frame nudge per tap.
As you hold down the Shift+Alt and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a five frames nudge per tap.
    On other matters...
    2. Please look at right clicking the Timeline and looking a Snap option enabled and disabled.
    3. I will think about it some more but I do not see any way to mute the audio for a whole audio track. You can mute the audio for clips on that audio track but not
shut off the audio to that one particular audio track. If you wanted to do audio clip muting for more than 1 clip at a time, I could see
    a. copy first file that you muted through Adjust Tab/Adjustments/Volume Panel expanded and
    b. then do a Paste Effects and Adjustments for a selection of all of the other audio files on that particular track.

  • Wall of parallel clips, then zooming in on one of them

    Hello
I have a bunch of video clips, each having the same original size. I want to combine them so that they run in parallel on one screen, about like that:
(this is simplified, I have more clips than shown on this sketch)
Then, I want to slowly zoom in on one of the clips until it appears full-size. Then, zoom out so that all clips appear, then zoom in on the second clip, etc.
What's the best way to do that in Premiere Pro? Zooming each clip individually is way too much work, since there are so many clips. So, I need a way to apply the zooming effect to all of them simultaneously.
I first thought of creating this "video wall" in sequence 1, whithout having any zoom there. Then, I'd nest sequence 1 into sequence 2, so I'd have only one track in sequence 2, and I could apply the zooming effect there. Unfortunately, this does not work: If I do it that way, there is a huge quality loss because the clips are scaled down in sequence 1, and then scaled up again by the zoom effect. I was surprised of this quality loss, I thought there was no quality loss if I un-checked "Use Previews".
    Thank you for any hints!

Glad to hear you got it working to your satisfaction in After Effects.
Just to attempt to put a cap on this, I believe that the reason that Adobe makes it so that once you put a clip in a sequence and then nest the sequence, the nested sequence acts like a clip that has been exported and reimported, is that is exactly the function that they were trying to replace.
I can see where that could be a problem for some situations, but I think it makes nested sequences a lot easier to understand and to use. The rendering order is not as obvious in Premiere Pro as it is in After Effects. Personally though, I think that the direction Adobe out to go is simply to dramatically improve their memory management and just have tabs across the top of the app. One for editing, one for compositing, one for audio, etc. Each one would look pretty much the same but be optimized for the task much like the workspaces are in Premiere Pro. But the compositing tab would actually be AFter Effects and the Audio tab would be Audition, etc.
I wrote an email a few days ago asking Andrew Kramer to consider a new product offering. One that would basically trick Premiere Pro users into using After Effects for their titles by making it extremely easy. I believe that in lieu of a product from Adobe named "After Effects Elements", that slowly nudging editors toward compositing with After Effects in a painless way would be a challenging yet worthwhile effort. The more people who buy into the Creative Cloud concept like I have, the more who could be using After EFfects. Perhaps after that happens, we can get them also using Illustrator instead of just Photoshop!

  • Why does Android Reader smart zoom not work as described on Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet?

The smart zoom feature in Android Acrobat Reader allows you to double tap on a text column and the reader will zoom up to the column in improve readability.  This feature works great on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smart phone, but only appears to zoom half way on the Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet.

  • Pinch open and close zoom (mac) not working in latest beta update

Anybody know why pinch open close for the mac track pad suddenly does not zoom in the lastest beta update?

I am typing out easy instructions for those that are new to entering values. I myself am no expert for sure. It took me awhile to figure it out and I got it to work. I was mad when the pinch to zoom didn’t work after I updated. Thank you '''cor-el''' for posting a fix.
    1. Go to a new tab, type in ''about:config'' hit enter
    2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button
    3. Scroll down until you see “browser.gesture.pinch.in” right click on it and hit modify
    4. A drop down that says “Enter string value” appears type in ''cmd_fullZoomReduce''
    5. Click ok
Find the other ones and do the same. After you have entered all four you should see them in bold and on the right under value you should see only this cmd_fullZoomReduce part.
6.Once you have it all entered just close the tab and it should work.
I didn’t have to quit Firefox for it to work, but you may.
I’m using a MacBook Pro and it worked great, Hope this helps.
    Preference Name / Value
    browser.gesture.pinch.in / cmd_fullZoomReduce
