Zoom option while video editing?

Thinking about purchasing Adobe premiere elements 9 for Video editing does it have a zoom option for actual video footage (not photos)?

Manny,
**** well, and just got back into the US last night.
I do not recall all the specs. of a Pinnacle Studio DVD, but it is likely that you have Audio encoding, that requires a particular CODEC to work. There are two possible Audio schemes for DVD-Video: PCM/WAV Audio, or AC3 (a flavor of MPEG) that might be either 2-channel (stereo), or 6-channel (5.1). Either will be 48KHz 16-bit. The WAV is a standard on the PC, but not sure if it is also a standard on the Mac. The AC3 requires the correct MPEG AC3 CODEC, but I think that is provided with the installation of QT Player. You might have to get one, or both, of those CODEC's, and install at the system level.
For general info on DVD-Videos, this ARTICLE might be useful. For general info on CODEC's, this ARTICLE will give some background. Note: both are a tad PC-centric, as that is the platform that I work on - sorry.
Good luck,
Hunt

How to zoom in or zoom out while video?

You can double tap the screen to change the aspect ratio, but you can't actually "ZOOM" in with video like you can with photos. The only thing you could do is use iMovie to keyframe (ken burns effect) to digitally zoom it in.

  • Storage options for video editing

For video editing is it better to use an external drive as the scratch disc or use an internal (non-bootable) drive. I keep getting conflicting information. I would like to get an additional 500gb for my system (Mac Pro G5)but don't know what direction to go. Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Well it all depends. Certainly, there's many good reasons to install a second internal drive. But I think it's better to use this as a "clone" of your startup drive. When I have a stable OS and application combo, I clone my startup drive to the second internal drive using carbon copy cloner (available at versiontracker.com). After cloning, I always try starting up from the clone to make sure everything's working. Then I can do a software update, install additional apps, and if my system goes south either from updates or some sort of corruption, I can quickly restart from the second internal drive and get back to work.
I've installed a sata card and bought a 5 bay sata enclosure from macgurus. Trays are about $ 25.00 and drives keep getting cheaper. I can quickly swap out drives and you can also stripe the drives if you need faster thru put.
I used to have as many as 11 firewire drives chained to my g5 and it worked great for years. But then things went seriously south and it took many months of troubleshooting to figure out the problem. It seemed like different brands of firewire drives did not play nicely together. I've been working with the sata enclosure for 2 1/2 years without any problems.

  • Help! Following a crash/froze/kernel panic while video editing, I've "lost" an iMovie Project!

I've been using iMovie for a number of years in all its various versions from about iMovie 4 onwards.
For the past year while I've been using iMovie 9, about once a day my iMac has periodically experienced a crash/freeze/kernel panic - ie the screen goes grey - ie "grey screen of death!", (sometimes with horizontal lines on it at intervals) and the GUI becomes totally non-responsive; when this happens I usually have to cycle the power and do a cold restart.  In every instance, my iMovie Project has remained more-or less in tact (perhaps with the most recent change missing, but that's usually easy enough to redo).
Last week, I upgraded iMovie 9 to 11 and I've continued editing for several days and until tonight (fingers crossed) all seemed well - no crashes!
But ealier this evening, while editing, my iMac experienced another crash/froze/kernel panic; on reboot, I discovered that my current Project has disappeared completely from iMovie's Project Library!  Using the Finder I can see that it is STILL there on the HD - I can open the .rcproject package and the Project file is inside!  I tried double-clicking on the Project file and sure enough iMovie 11 launches, but there is no sign at all of my Project in the Project Library.
How can I recover it so that I can continue editing?
VERY fortunately just yesterday I exported the entire Project as a HD Movie to view on my TiVo, so I've been able to re-import that movie back into iMovie, so I've lost very little.  But I have have a number of Projects on the go and I don't want them all to vanish one-by-one!
If THIS is one of the new features of iMovie 11, I want my money back!

After receiving a deafening silence to my original post, I contacted the "geniuses" at Apple.
I'll cut to the chase - they could do nothing for me; apparently my Project is probably corrupt and that's why it no longer works.  They could offer no tools that I could use to check and correct the corrupted Project, just basically said "tough".
Along the way they suggested that I should trash my iMovie preferences which are found as follows...
    Macintosh HD/User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
(Note "User" is whatever you log in as).
Problem was that my iMovie 11 just returned to as it was when it was first installed (without fixing my faulty Project!)  Actually, that was a bit of a problem because I could no longer switch my video to my second monitor because the "Viewer on other Display" was no longer the last item under my iMovie's "Window" menu item.  It took me a little while to discover that I had to check the "Show Advanced Tools" in the "General" Tab of "iMovie Preferences" for that and other features to become available again.
So, I'm sorry, I have nothing to offer you that shows any promise - apart of course from regularly backing up the Project onto another drive (which is what I now do)!

  • Flash player zoomed in while video streaming?

    Hello,
I'm having some problems with streaming video. I'm attempting to stream online, live and each time I log-in, my video is extremely close and zoomed in. I have looked and looked online and can't seem to get it resolved. I have looked into my cam, and it definately has nothing to do with it. I have attempted to go to View> Zoom in the internet settings, also have tried going into device manager as well as right clicking on the streaming image, settings, etc. There isn't even a 'show all' button that people have talked about. Someone help?
    Thanks

I haven't been using the 64-bit version since (at least back when I got my computer) Windows defaulted to the 32-bit version, and Flash itself warned against using the 64-bit version.  I did upgrade my video driver, and it has only crashed once since then.
I tried that first, but since it crashed that once, I've now disabled the hardware acceleration setting, and I'll see if that helps.
My video adapter is an ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series with a version number of 8.911.0.0 dated 10/25/2011.  I didn't record it before I updated, but if I recall correctly, it was dated from sometime in 2009.
    Thanks for the advice!

But after bringing it to home I have updated software to it. Since then my fone is not working and used to get "no service". I have changed two sim cards of different GSM operatore. Even though I am getting the same problem. I have again installed the same sim which I brought when the fone was unlocked. That also not working. Just I have updated the software and its showing like that. I have restored the settings with the sim which I got it from Canada.. It havent worked for me in that way too. I tried to update the software with Indian sim card. I used to get the message in Itunes window that "only compatable sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate this phone". * I have done it with canada card and I used to get update page after installing that sim) If I use INDIA sim I even not able to get update page also.

  • What temperatures not to exceed when video editing?

I have a 24inch Imac 2.66Ghz and I wanted to know what temperatures to watch out for while video editing. Also what would be the best settings for smc fan control for the Imac. I just recently backed up my macbook pro hard drive, which had smc fan control, and migrated it to the Imac and don't know whether smc fan control is actually needed on the Imac just yet. Please help!

  • N97 Video Editing

    Hi everyone,
I have an N97 mini, and wanted to know if there was a video editing software for it, on which I could cut a clip, merge 2 clips, add sounds, effects etc.
Are there any third party applications for this? If not, how do I access the preinstalled nokia editor?
    Thanks!
    Sasch

To say the N97 has NO options for video editing is a bit misleading.
It has the following video editing features:
    Merge
    Change Sound
    Add text
    Cut
So it does have some very basic features.

  • I can't see video on my monitor while I edit

    Hello folks,
The other day, I was trying to add some
motion effects using Motion with transfered
clip from Final Cut Pro but all of sudden
video play on my monitor won't show anything
and even after I went back to final cut pro,
it won't show anything while I edited.
I thought it was just that particular clips or project
but it affects the whole FCP program and I can't see
anything both on the monitor nor canvas!
I now stopped working on my project because of it.
Does anyone know why this is happening and
please provide me some answers to solve this problem!
Thank you so much in advance folks!

Another issue might be that you have two or more output devices, like a blackmagic card for example make sure under view... (sorry I don't have FCP here, I don't remember the name of the submenu but I think it's 2 subs under external...) that you have the right device selected.

  • How do i zoom in and out while videoing

how do i zoom in and out while i am videoing

There is no built-in zoom function for video.
So, you can either quickly run closer to the subject to zoom in, and quickly run back to zoom out, or use an alternative video capture app, such as:

  • Zoom in while editing

Is there any way to zoom in on a current slide while in edit mode... similar to zooming in Buzzword?
    Like in document imaging systems?

If you have Lightroom 5, simply press the F key for full screen. Press again to return.
You can even use the F key from a thumbnail in the Library to view full screen and then the keyboard arrows to scroll left and right.
To hide the panels whilst editing press F5, F6, F7 and F8 or press the first three keys, to leave just the develop tools panel showing.

  • How to avoid jerky zoom shift while shooting videos?

    Hi!
Recently I purchased EOS 70D with kit lens (EF-S 18-55 STM) and tele-zoom (EF-S 55-250 STM). Both lenses give excellent result for still photos.
But while video shooting, I notice considerable jerk in the video due to adjustment in the zoom ring of the lenses. Less noticeable nuissance in the video if I make sudden turn of the zoom ring but very much noticeable while making slow & gradual shift on the zoom ring. Thus an inferior video result in comparison to cheaper cameras that have TELE / WIDE zoom buttons! As such the zoom ring is quite free to rotate & no mechanical defect on the lens body.
    Any suggestioins please?

In professional video they REALLY RESIST the urge to "zoom" while shooting.  I wont say it's "never" done... it is, but it's something that should be done sparingly as zooming in general is very distracting.
If you want a professional result, you can pre-plan focus changes and zoom changes prior to shooting the clip.
Pro videographers will go far as to wrap a piece of masking or gaffers tape around the lens ring, and put marks on focus or zoom positions (which were pre-tested before the shot).  When they're ready to perform the zoom or focus change, they can visually look at the marks and do a smoother transition from one mark to the next.
For a really really professional result... the camea is mounted on a rail or boom and the zoom ring isn't touched at all.
Keep in mind these lenses are not "parfocal" which means if you set it to any given focal length, focus it to your satisfaction, then zoom to a different focal length, the lens will require re-focusing (there are only a few true "parfocal" lenses where the focus does not change at all as you zoom.)

  • Zoom while video recording (bug) - Video flickers back and forth on playback

    Using iphone 5s iOS 7.0.2
If i zoom slowly during video recording, when playback the video, during the period i zoomed in or out, it just flickers back and forth (in and out). which ruins all the video.

I just tried it on my iPhone.  Same specs.  No issues.  I'm assuming you're doing playback on your phone?
