Zoom Prefs in ACROBAT 8

I am running on mac osx 10.4. I know in acrobat 7 you can set a default percentage for files to open.
I seem to have the problem opening ads on my 30 in apple cinema that are 2x4 inches and they fill the screen.

I am a novice at Acrobat. All of the fields have different names.  Still I can not use the ungroup or group icons

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • Zoom operation crashed Acrobat with Project 2007 content

I have some PDF created with Project 2007 contents on them. These file can be view normally. However, as soon as I zoomed in the MS Project content within the PDF, Acrobat crashed, regardless when it was standalone or within a browser. Can someone advice what the problem might be?
    Thanks
    uminds

Acrobat is capable of most of what you are asking for. The user can click on a part to select it, then, by right-clicking on the selected part they can select "Zoom to part" from the context menu. I am unsure how to author a 3D model so that the individual part information shows up in the Data panel of the sxtructure tree, but I have seen many files that do exactly that. I believe that this has to be done in the authoring application. As for the detailed 3D model of the individual part, Acrobat 3D gives you the ability to authro different views, which can contain individual parts. The best way to do this is to make the view of the individual part a Comment View. This type of view maintains all of the specific issues of the view.
I think that all of the attributes you've asked for are supported by Acrobat 3D in one way or another.

  • SWF not working properly when sent to acrobat

I am trying to place a simple swf file in a layout but Acrobat refuses to display it at the correct size. It shows me the correct dimensions in the import dialog, but then seems to ignore them. The final placed object comes in at 320x240 no matter what.
As for where the SWF is coming from, how it was made etc, I have tried multiple methods for making this work. Here's the list:
    1. Created an MSO in Indesign, exported the mso element as a SWF and replaced the swf in the document. FAIL - Transparency breaks and the size is wrong
    2. Retried about 5 versions of the about with opaque background and various sizes. FAIL - same problems
    3. Built the SWF in Flash Catalyst, placed in InDesign FAIL - same problems
    4. Used Catalyst swf, place directly in Acrobat 10. Import works, transparency works...FAIL - always resized to 320x240
I am using Indesign CS5 and Acrobat 10 on Mac OS X 10.6.6
I could really use some help here. I placed this same note in the acrobat forums, because I am getting pretty desperate here. I am supposed to deliver the final client file for this project today and this represents one of the key showcase elements!
    Thanks.

Ok. So after reading through a pile of forum posts and blogs I believe I may have my answer. Though I can't say I like it much.
It seems that Acrobat does not render video/swf pixels at 1:1 (See This Forum Comment) and the disparity causes the image to appear distorted. The only fix I have really seen so far is to play with the zoom level in acrobat until the image comes into focus. A point that is different on every screen.
Here are some of the posts I found most helpful:
    http://acrobatusers.com/forum/rich-mediaflash/video-quality-degraded#comment-72985
    http://acrobatusers.com/forum/rich-mediaflash/original-swf-size-distortion-import
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3379809#3379809
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3411262#3411262
I still want to think that there has to be a way to force a 1:1 pixel ratio, but I have not seen any solutions for doing so. There was a suggestion regarding setting the flash stage to NO_SCALE, but I am not entirely sure what the suggested implementation involves.
I would still love to hear ideas on how to create a better solution to this, but for now I suppose I will have to live with it as is.

  • Creating an interactive form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.5

Can anyone advise if what I am planning is possible given the version I am using. I am using a Mac.
I am trying to create a briefing form for a design studio that will allow people requesting artwork to enter the relevant information (dates, page count etc.) and then for the form to calculate the number of days that it will take and the cost (based on a daily rate x number of days).
The form will initally be produced in InDesign CS5 and exported as a PDF and then edited in Acrobat Pro 9.5. Essentially, the form needs to be able to calculate date ranges (i.e. number of work days between two dates) and then calculate prices based on a daily work rate (which would be hidden to the user). I would also need it to calculate totals say based on the following example:
1-2 page document - allow ten days.
For every additional 2 pages add a day
"Is photography required?" If yes, add a day for up to 5 photos. etc.
Before I even attempt this, I need to know if it is even possible given the version I am using. If not, I will explore doing it in Excel, but I would far prefer using Acrobat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible to do the calculations using JavaScript. The hardest part may be determining what's a working day and what's not. If it's certain days of the week (Mon-Fri) it's not too much of a problem, but it can get complicated if you have to contend with holidays or other irregular non-work days.

  • Acrobat X Pro vs. Reader XI.  Getting Pro to open as default?

Anyone help me with this.  Reader XI has become my default and I prefer using Acrobat X Pro.  Is there a setting to change X Pro back to my default?  Thanks!

If you're using Windows 7, you can right click on a PDF file, then > Open with > Choose default program...   It should show both "Adobe Acrobat" and "Adobe Reader", click on "Adobe Acrobat".
For Windows XP, right click on a PDF file, then > Open With > Choose Program ...  Click the checkbox for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", the select "Adobe Acrobat" from the program list and click "OK".

  • Convert cmyk to rgb in acrobat 7

    Good morning,
I have a question about converting color spaces using Acrobat 7 Professional  and Pitstop Pro.
I have some CMYK PDFs used for magazine printing that I need to convert to a 144 DPI RGB version for a digital edition.
I know most folks are concerned with RGB to CMYK but I need to do it in reverse...
If I do a Convert Color in Acrobat CMYK to RGB it looks a lot better than if I do it using an Action List command to Convert to RGB  in Pitstop.
The Pitstop ones look almost posterized, way darker with significant color shifts
I would have thought Pitstop would use the Acrobat color engine to do the transformation to RGB but it seeems it knid of does it's own thing.
I do have sRGB selected in my Color Management Prefs in Acrobat.
It would be nice to make this RGB second version PDF with Pitstop and Distiller on our server so it runs more automated, less manual intervention...
thanks for any advice you have,
    Pat

I think I stumbled across the solution... there are separate Color Management Preference controls for Pitstop.
I selected sRGB instead of the Enfocus Default RGB.

  • Edges around some buttons although prefs say no

Hi there, I'm working on a document with custom buttons. The pdf is generated in Indesign (CS4) and then later on tweaked in Acrobat (9.4.4), adding some links that can't be made in ID. Although I've set the prefs in Acrobat to hide active rectangles, on some buttons they show up,but only on pc's. On Macs it's ok. How can I fix this? TIA

Hi Steve, thanks for looking into this. I've set in my prefs: > forms > active rectangle to unchecked. Also in the properties of each button (which are rollovers) all borders are set to none.
My colleague watched the pdf with Acrobat Reader 9.4 pc. I haven't got a screendump to show as she is on another location. Since on my Mac no edges show up whether I checked this option on or off, I'm under the impression that this is a compatibility issue. Of course we have no influence on the settings of the viewers. By the way, I use 9.4.4 Pro, not standard.

  • A security certificate for "Adobe Acrobat" was expired in July and it asked to "update" my computer.....I declined.....a good response?

I got a request to update Adobe Acrobat before I got onto the internet. When I queried the information it displayed a certificate that expired in July. I exited all. Did I do the correct and safe thing?

That does sound a bit suspicious.
To update Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, I suggest using the Help menu inside your Adobe product and then "Check for Updates." This should reach out directly to Adobe and let you know whether you need an update.
I should note that if you use Mozilla's plugin checker website ([https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/]), it only considers Reader/Acrobat XI (11) to be up-to-date. If you prefer Reader/Acrobat X (10), you have to rely on Adobe's internal update checker instead of Mozilla's.

  • Mail won't open or close properly

My Mail app won't open in a conventional way. The toolbar appears for Mail so the app is open but the window does not appear.
If I click View > Enter Fullscreen it will do that, but then if I exit full screen, instead of staying in front of me and just shrinking in size a little bit, as it normally would, it totally disappears into my desktop.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi MistaDan,
It may be that the Mail windows is somewhere on the edge of the screen. Should this be the case, you can use the "Zoom" option under the Window menu, and the Mail window should appear on the screen.

  • Trying to link buttons to specific text in document

I'm on a mac using Adobe InDesign CS6. I have been slowly getting into converting our newspaper into a digitial interactive document including buttons to different content, hyperlinks, etc.
My dilemma is I want to create buttons that will link directly to the text in a document, not just the page the text is on.
What I am currently doing is creating a bookmark for each page, then making text anchors within each bookmarked page for each story (usually placing the cursor at the beginning of the headline).
When I go to create the buttons to link to these stories, I am using "Go To Destination" and then choosing the appropriate text anchor. But when I go to output my document and preview the interactive form, the buttons are just linking to the page the text is on and not to the text directly.
I'm sure I must be missing something. Any help?

This could be as simple as a zoom setting. When in acrobat if you zoom in, say to 200%, and then click the link, does it go to the page or the paragraph?
You detailed things fairly clearly above but to be sure, when you set the text anchor, did you set it as a text anchor and not URL or page? When you do this it should add it as a destination so you won't see it in the Hyperlinks panel. Then with the button, ensure it's the correct text anchor and set the zoom level to whatever you would like - inherit would take the current zoom setting from Acrobat when the document is opened. I can't test on CS6 but CS5.5 seems to do this fairly well - the zoom setting to me made it look like it went to the page and not the text.

  • Color profiles do not stay synchronized across all applications in CS6

I've recently uopgraded my system to Maverick.   Using Adobe CS6 Suite. It seems as of late when selecting a color profile for the creative suite, the application does not keep the color setting.  They say synchronized but when reopening to check again, it says unsynchronized.
Also, When making a PDF from InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop, the colors look dead and darker in the PDF.  Again, the Acrobat color prefs say "unsynchronized".  If I go to Bridge and re-apply the profile, all is fine, but on reopening the color prefs in Acrobat they are back to "unsynchronized".  This also happens in InDesign and Illustrator.
All this an more.  I work with a client who is the inhouse graphics manager.  We run the same software and the same profiles, yet the same color files look different on his computer than on mine.
Can someone shed  some light on this issue.  Been doing this many years and have not had this problem.

Not all that familiar with Color sync but bridge should be acting as the central and when you have selected the correct color profile in Bridge CS6 under the menu edit / color settings all CS6 applications should have this profile / setting show.
In your case I would start to reset preferences for Bridge with holding down option key while starting Bridge and from the menu choose reset preferences.
Maybe even do this with al other CS applications if only bridge does not help.
And this is no help to you but I'm still not on Mavericks but if I make the switch I don't use the option for upgrade but make a day free to install everything from scratch. For normal use with a few apps it might not be important to do so but with a lot of apps and daily use in a professional workflow I always go for security versus speed

  • Can't 'print to pdf' from ANY app, it just...

    stops after processing some bytes.
As the title says, happens from any app, text, preview, word, safari, firefox...
and upon further inspection, distiller crashes when trying to distil a .PS file (generated from indesigncs2) into a pdf.
    i have tried:
    repair prefs
deleted distiller and acrobat related prefs
    reinstalled acrobat (version 7 btw)
tried to use distiller and 'print to pdf' option prior to each option - still no go.
however, i created a new account, and in the new account, it worked fine hmmm, so its my account..
what can i do to fix my pdf problems??

    sim888,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Nice troubleshooting, particularly using another user account to determine it's something in your account that's causing the problem. Without dragging your entire user Library/ Preferences file to the Desktop and then returning .plists a few at a time to watch for the problem to return, you could check your user preferences (.plist) files in Terminal by entering the command:
    find ~/Library -name '*.plist' -exec /usr/bin/plutil -lint {} \;
You can also download Preferential Treatment
I've seen scattered reports of problems using OS X's built-in print-to-PDF when some versions of Adobe software are installed. Are Distiller etc. installed for general use or under the relatively rare single-user access? In the hunting in the dark category, with no programs open, you could look at Activity Monitor in both user accounts and see if you spot any background user (non-system) processes running in your normal user account that aren't in the test user, then force-quit those user processes to see if printing to PDF works without conflicts. I'm not sure what log a failed print to PDF would go into, but you can open Console look through console.log, system.log, and CrashReporter et al. for events timestamped around the time of a failed print-to-PDF attempt. The backtrace of any failure report may provide additional clues.

How can i ask photoshop developers to increase it?
How can i increase it before print?

It's standard 11pt type for the most part, so I don's see how it could be too small. Simply use the zoom options in Acrobat/ Adobe Reader, if you have difficulty reading it. There is no way to actually increase the font size and have the document reflow.
