Zoom stopped working

Question

Installed OS 10.4.8; since then the zoom function has never been able to work again, but when I turn on the pb, the post-login screen shows like zoom is activated (a bigger image fills the screen)... I've tried deleting the plist files in my preferences folder, and readjusting commands in the universal access palette.
I've seen many users have this problem, but the solution is still unclear... at least to many of us.

Yes, I liked to do the same thing, too, before the 10.4.8 update. It might be a feature, kind of like the way we believed it not resetting itself to be a feature. Some people might actually prefer it reset itself. So, I don't think this is necessarily something that is broken so much as something that has been changed.
However, with the new scroll zooming feature in Keyboard & Mouse preferences I've now turned off the Universal Access zooming and disabled the keyboard shortcuts, too. I prefer the scroll zooming because it is so much easier and so much quicker and more flexible. It's really fun to use, particular when reading articles on the web or viewing movie trailers. :-D Just point and scroll to zoom instead of tapping the keyboard, moving the mouse, tapping the keyboard, moving the mouse, etc.
I believe the scroll zooming in Keyboard & Mouse preferences first became available with the wireless Mighty Mouse drivers. Now it's available to everyone with scrolling, even on my MacBook. It's so wonderful being able to scroll with the track pad, and now being able to scroll zoom with the track pad is phenomenal. It so simple and obvious, I wonder why other notebook computers' track pads don't work the same way, or rather I'd never want to use any other notebook computer.
Okay, enough of my happiness with scroll zooming with a track pad.
