Zoom/zoom-out of D800 NEF hangs Aperture

Just got the D800 yesterday and have imported the first images to Aperture 3.2.3
Import went fairly quick.
BUT - when I zoom in on an image - and then zooms out again, the LOADING message appears and nothing more happens.
When I right-click on the Aperture icon, there is a "program is not responding" message :-(
I tried to export an image to tiff - and that went fine. Also tried to import the tiff back into Aperture - and zoom/zoom-out works fine, even though this file is 240MB, whereas the NEF files is 37MB's.
My machine is a Mac Mini i5, 8GB mem. All software updates are installed.
Any ideas??

The images were not edited prior to the zoom- zoom-out operation.
I made some additional tests:
Before Starting Aperture:
Free Mem 2,30GB
Inactive Mem 2,78
After Starting Aperture:
Free Mem 1,37GB
Inactive Mem 2,81
Zooming in:
Free Mem 923MB
Inactive Mem 2,81
Aperture hangs - and its memory consumption says 1,37GB CPU 199,3%
Hope this makes any sense :-)

The only thing that brings Aperture back to life, is to kill the program.
I was using 14 bit depth NEF's lossless compression. Tried to change that to 12bit lossless. Makes no difference!

Aperture 3.4.1 Zoom out at 25% not working

Hi,
I just remarked that the Zoom Out at 25% with Aperture 3.4.1 doesn't work any more...the maximum Zoom Out is now fixed to the size
of the window. I'm pretty sure that this worked on Aperture 3.4 though.
While not a big problem, I like to view my photos at smaller size, to see how they look like on small printouts.
Does someone have the same issue with Zoom Out with Aperture 3.4.1?

I could not get to work since Aperture 3.4 either. Zoom out now seems to stop, when the image fills the window.
As a work-around, select more than one image in full screen mode, and you can zoom out to 25%.
Or put the image on a Light-Table; then you can zoom out to really small thumbnail sizes.

1:1 zoom in Library with D800 NEF

I have been trying some D800 NEF files with Lightroom 4.1RC2 and noticed something strange. The following observations were made after generating the 1:1 previews.
MacPro
dual 2.66 GHZ dual-core Xeon
9GHz RAM
OS X 10.7.3
When I zoom to 1:1 in the Library module it takes about 5 seconds to see the final image. Returning to the standard size takes less than 1 second.
When I zoom to 1:1 in the Develop module (after the "Loading" text is gone) it takes less than 1 second.
Why does it take such a long time to zoom to 1:1 in the Library module?
EDIT:
When zooming to 1:1 in the Library one of the cores runs at 100% while the other 3 are doing "nothing".

I see the delay in the Library module every time with every D800 file.
There is also delay for D700, V1 and other smaller NEF files but it is less.

I have a Nikon D50 nef on my desktop. Double-clicking on it opens Photoshop, which launches Adobe Camera Raw. If you get that far and can make adjustments in the ACR panel, you are fine. That's what opens first.
Then you click "Open" in ACR and your nef opens in Photoshop and the document tab on top gives the .nef extension. You make your edits there, but if you close Photoshop, you won't save it as nef, it won't be in the Save file list. You save it as psd for example and close Photoshop.
You now have a nef with develop settings on your desktop and the psd you saved out of Photoshop.
All perfectly normal as J.J. said, Photoshop will edit the nef file, but it will be saved in a format other than nef.

Slow screen redraw when I click playhead and zoom out in Logic 9 upgrade

The arrange mode is slow to redraw when I click the playhead in the ruler area and drag up (zoom out). The slider thingy at the bottom of the screen works totally fast like normal. I just upgraded to Logic 9 (v 9.1.1). Might this be a known problem or is it coincidental? Any tips?
Also, it seems to be hang only when zooming out to the bird's eye view. Zooming in seems to be fast as ever.

Depending on what those programs are doing (e.g., how many windows they have open), they could be consuming a lot of resources. Activity Monitor is a good way to get a handle on this.
I don't think the problem has anything to do with your Magic Mouse.
As a test, I would try a new user account. Create a new OS X user account (in System Preferences/Accounts). Login as that user (via Apple Menu > Log Out). Same problem?

I think that's basically the equivalent of the two Zoom Horizontal commands.
I thought Logic only has the zoom shortcut via cmd something or other and clicking.
That's also useful. Hold down ⌃⌥ and drag over an area of interest. When you release the mouse, you zoom in. To zoom back out, do ⌃⌥-click in the background area.

Photoshop CC distorted image when zoomed out. Text, edges and Straight lines.

I get this distorted image when working on a file. When I zoom in its fine. But as soon as I zoom out all the lines, text , and edges start to become distorted. I've checked that all my drivers are up to date. I've re installed photoshop and still the same thing. Any Suggestions. ( files look fine when saved or exported, this just happens while Im working )

That looks like a Moiré pattern. Did you scan the image?
If not, can you tell us what operating system?
And is your video card driver fully up to date from the maker's website?

I plugged my macbook pro into an external monitor, then unplugged it later and now it is stuck with black borders on top and bottom and zoomed out like it is still on the monitor. How do I fix it?

I started using my external monitor with my macbook pro and as soon as I plug it in it to the monitor it adjusts the screen by zooming out a bit and creating about 3/4 of an inch black borders on the top and bottom of the screen. But these dont show up on the monitor so I assumed it was fine. But when I took it off the monitor, the borders were still there like it was still on the monitor. Any hellp? Its starting to mess with my eyes haha.

It sounds like you had the external display set to mirror the internal display so the resolution(s) were changed to match each other.

Firefox box around zoomed out images issue w/ (xf86-video-intel)

When I zoomout on a page firefox displays a insetted box around my images.
Most notably in my webmail client, however it happens even on the forums if I zoomout.

This happens with both the offical arch build of firefox and the spookyet build. I have no idea how to fix this, it is very annoying!

EDIT:
After doing some more research I have narrowed this down to being an issue with xf86-video-intel. The problem does not happen if I use the xf86-video-vesa driver. I have filed a bug report at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468366

When on the internet, how can I zoom out with out cuting off part of games and stuff?

When I go to Mozilla Firefox, I can't see everything on the screen because it is zoomed in to much. When I go to view and zoom out, it zooms out but when I go to armorgames, part of the games I play are cut off so I can't see everything on the game. Plus, it just zooms back in when I leave Firefox and get back on. It wasn't always like that though. I want to know if I can set the default view to normal so I can see everything on the screen without having to scroll left and right, or having part of games cut off.

If you use View > Zoom > Reset, does the zoom level reset to the expected size?
To set your default zoom level you usually need an add-on. Have you tried installing one named Default FullZoom Level or another named NoSquint? 
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions category
 
You can also try disabling Firefox's use of hardware accelerated graphics. In order for this to take effect you usually need to restart Firefox. 
Go to Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General and uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the clarity improved?

Using scroll wheel with modifier key to zoom out is not working

I can't zoom out with the magnifying tool selected in all programs of the CS3 suite using the option key on a Mac. I can zoom in with no problem. I've been trying to figure this out for "8 hours" now!!!
I do have this checked in the system preferences and Photoshop preferences. I don't think this is considered a keyboard shortcut but I do have universal access checked and zoom out checked in the system preferences.
I searched this site and all of the internet looking for answers but can't seem to find much. I appreciate any help you can give. I'm way behind on my work today.

The default key for scrolling zoom is not Command but Control. To change this, go to System Preferences —> Universal Access and click on the Seeing tab. In the Zoom pane, click on the Options button, and in the sheet that drops down, select the text box at the bottom, highlight the character there, then press the modifier key you prefer.

How to set the zoom out or in for all pages permanently?

I wish to set my page size one size smaller than the default.
The result of ctr - (zoom out) is exactly what I want (it decreases the size of text AND images). However this effect only lasts for the page I am currently on, as soon as I navigate to a different page (or just refresh the page I am at), it reverts back to the default size.
I looked at Tools->Options->Content, however that deals only with text size (besides it looks only certain pages are affected by this setting anyway).
In other words, how (or where) do I set my browser to automatically decrease size or 'Zoom Out' for all the pages I visit in order not to set it manually for every page every time.

If this setting can be applied for individual users (I have a multi user PC) that would be even better, although I would be very grateful if I could just set it.

Camera zoom-out

Hi.
I'm using Motion 4 and I'm trying to achieve a camera zoom-out with some conditions. Here's a image to explain the size and the type of zoom I'm looking for. My background images have 3072x1536 pixels and my canvas in Motion is defined to be 1024x768 pixels.
As you can see by the picture, I want to scale my camera view but I only want to do it through the upper right diagonal so that my bottom left point stays at the same place.
I've already tried to change the camera between framing and viewpoint but If I got my layers appart in 3D space they all start to phase out because of the perspective. Considering a flat image on the background, how can I scale/zoom-out my camera to do the effect on the image?

Walk backwards, as there is no zoom in video mode. Either that, or look for an app that provides "video zoom".

Mapviewer view zoomed out within BI report

Hello,
I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with a mapviewer map within a BI report showing the map zoomed way out. This map is a FL state map with the cities within the states marked. The geometry theme "FL_CITIES" preview fine on the MapBuilder.jar client application.
However, when rendering the map in OBI report, Mapview just shows a grey screen. When I click on the map, then a small map of FL displays, but it is zoomed out.
I tried to update the mapZoom to a different number on
mapview.setZoomLevel(mapZoom);
but there is no change in rendering of the map.
Has anyone else encountered this behavior? I'm on 10.1.3.3. I've cut and pasted the showMap() function:

How to zoom out and view an entire track in the window

There's got to be a way to zoom out so an entire track can viewed at once so that segments of the track can be shifted around. I have a track that is about 50 minutes long with several segments in it. I want to shift the segments around. Right now I can only view about a minute of the track at a time and have to click on the segment then move the cursor either left or right and wait for Garageband to scroll to the time where I want to put it. Isn't there a way to just zoom out and view the entire track and then shift segments around without all the scrolling? Does that make sense?

Control + minus zoom out - please read

I use the control + minus for zooming out with my left hand (using control key on RIGHT side of keyboard and don't need to remove right hand from mouse) so often it's subconscious. Now, when I use that keystroke it turns the cursor into the minus pen tool. PLEASE READ FURTHER.
If I remove my hand from the mouse and use the control key on the LEFT side of the keyboard it works but I don't want to have to do that. I have upgraded from CS4 to CS5, and it is still doing this, AND got a brand new keyboard. It works fine in Photoshop - it just does this in illustrator, and it's driving me NUTS. so it's not my keyboard, and it shouldn't be illustrator since I upgraded. WHAT is going on? I need this to function because I use it all the time and don't want to have to think before doing it, or have to slow myself down by using both hands. HELP! (and thanks to anyone who can tell me how to get out of this loop of hell!)

Though the PC or Mac both don't discrimate whether you use the left or right CMD or Ctrl in Illustrator, I would still check these out.
The PC also has a control panel for international keyboard languages & assistance for handicapped, take a look at those. I don't have a Win station in front of me at the moment to give you the exact name of those.
