Zooming a photo out

Hi all,
I want to add an effect to my photo gallery page, similar to the one Apple have at their site. What I want to do is to have the thumbs on my page and when a photo is clicked a small window with the photo pops out and the background page become gray.
Can it be done using iWeb?
Thanks,
Ziv

  • How do I zoom in and out in a photo

I am complete new to using a MAC and Iphoto. Can I zoom in and out of a photo to do close up editing?
Is Iphoto the only program I need to edit and retouch photos? If not, can someone recommend a simple and inexpensive program?

I find the zoom slide quite easily when using the computer screen on my Macbook. However, when I project the images onto a screen the slide for some reason disappears. Any ideas?
Welcome to Mac. The iPhoto tutorial is a good place
    to start:
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/iphoto/
Yes, you can zoom in. At the bottom of the iPhoto
window is an icon that looks like a box with arrows
pointing out. Select a photo and click that icon to
enter the Full Screen Edit mode. At the bottom of
that window, rt. of center, is a size slider which
will zoom your photo. To see the edit tools, move
your curser to the bottom of the window. Those tools
will show you what kind of edits you can do with
iPhoto. To keep the tools or thumbnails in view, go
to View > Show toolbar or Show thumbnails.
I use iPhoto in combination with PhotoShop Elements
    4. It is relatively inexpensive, at around $60 - $80.
Many of its functions are simple and easy to use, but
with some study and practice you'll find it is as
complex and powerful as you need it to be. You can
    read about it here:

  • Photo zoom-in and out appear to speed up toward end.

    Greetings.
I'm trying to figure out the cause for my zooms (in or out) aapearing to speed up toward the last third of a photo (clip) in FCE 3.5.1
First I had to ask if this is an illusion, but I don't think so.
I drag a photo to the time line. It's total running time is around 15 seconds. I double click the photo, get to motion tab, line up my zoom start in canvas and then timeline, mark with key, adjust for zoom out, repeat.
As far as I can tell, there is no Speed setting in the Motion tab that might get affected.
Is it just me, or has anyone had and solved this problem?
    Thanks.
    Jonathan

Tom suggests you to smooth the keyframe as follows: in the graph area to the right of the Motion controls (I mean in the Motion tab of the FCE viewer..) you can see the small diamonds of the 2 keyframes you defined for Scale. Right click (or ctrl click) the small diamond and you may to select the Smooth command from the contextual menu.
As a result of the Smooth command you get a new handle, a small blue bullet, for each keyframe that you can drag up, down, right or left to modify the graph curve for that keyframe. After each change, check the effect in the canvas to see what you prefer.
For additional precision in dragging the new handles, you may enlarge the graph area both horizontally, by making the viewer window larger, and vertically by dragging down the double line just below the Scale graph.

  • The photos imported are zooming in and out and are out and in focus-how to resolve this?

    Hi all,
I just started creating a short film which will consist of photos and voice over. After importing the photos, each of them is being zoomed in and out and is once slightly blurry and once in focus- none of the effects are on and I am a bit stuck. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

The effect you are seeing is known as the Ken Burns effect, which shows panning and zooming on the images. This is iMovie's default setting for still photos. To change this setting, go to iMovie's Menu and select File>Project Properties. In the window that opens, for the item "Initial Photo Placement" choose Fit in Frame (click on the disclosure arrows). The other options are Crop and Ken Burns. You will need to do this for each Project that you start - change the setting before dragging photos to the Project.
For your current project you will also need to change the setting for each image already inserted, given that they have already been included in the project. To do this on an image, there are several options. One way is to click on the image (clip) then press the C key on the keyboard. In the viewer you will see selections for Fit, Crop and Ken Burns - select Fit, then click on Done. Now the photo will remain stationary, with no pan or zoom.
Another method is to click on the small gear icon at the left corner of the clip, then select Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation from the pop-up menu. Again, the various selections will appear in the Viewer. Also, you can click on the Crop tool in the centre toolbar (directly to the right of the microphone icon).
To change the setting for a number of photos (rather than doing them individually), select them by clicking on the first photo then clicking on the last one while holding down the Shift key - that's assuming they are all grouped together (contiguous). If not grouped, then click on each one while holding down the Command key. Once all clips have been selected (highlighted with a yellow border), you can make your selections as to Fit, Crop and Ken Burns, as described earlier. All highlighted photos will then have their setting changed. Don't forget to click on Done after changing the setting!

  • Black (or White) Box appearing on photos sometimes when zooming in and out.

I just recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CC and something really odd is happening:  On some zoom levels I have this empy black or white box appearing.  When I zoom in or out it disappears, or reappears.
However, when I save the file as a JPEG, or bring it into Google Nik it is OK.  It's almost like there is a software bug, or a bad memory spot in my video card.  Any suggestions?

Google updated the plugins recently to correct this problem:
    https://support.google.com/nikcollection/answer/4400822?hl=en&ref_topic=3001406
Version 1.109 (December 11/2013) is the latest:
Fixed black or white tile artifacts that might have occurred after returning to Photoshop from plug-ins
You can find out the version you have installed by launching Photoshop:
On Mac: Select Photoshop>About Plug-in>Analog Efex Pro… (or any other NIK Plug-in)
On Windows: Select Help>About Plug-in>Analog Efex Pro… (or any other NIK Plug-in)

  • Can't zoom in or out in video mode - 4th gen ipad, ios 7.0.2

Today I discovered that I should be able to zoom in and out while in Video Mode in the Camera app.  There is no slider at the bottom of the screen, and I've tried pinching my fingers. I'm stumped. Is there anything I need to do in settings? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Alison, I sympathise with your situation. After 30+ years in the classroom myself I know well the pain that follows the 'upgrade' to the IT system that then won't run your tried and trusted computer program!
Try this on your iPad - it works on mine.
Try going to  Settings - General - Accessibility - Zoom  and switch it on (it seems to me it's 'off' by default).
Zooming is now controlled by 'three-finger' actions! (although the original two-finger pinch still operates as well, on actual photos though not videos, I find)
Double-tap with three fingers together and slide up the screen to zoom in.
Double-tap and slide down to zoom out.
Simple double-tap three fingers to return to normal size.
This works with videos. In fact it works even 'now', as I'm typing this here in Safari! It works on the 'home screen' itself! - it works in 'Notes'. It seems to work everywhere in iOS 7.1
So, get your video on screen - use three-finger-slide zoom to achieve required zoom level - play.
Hope this helps with your lesson plans!

  • How do i zoom in or out to take a picture?

How do I zoom in or out before taking a picture?

You can not take pictures with iPhoto - is this by chance an iPhone question? on the iPhone you use two fingers to squeeze the photo and then use the zoom slider that appears at the bottom of the screen

  • Zoom In or Out

Will the iPhone ever have the ability to Zoom in or out when taking pictures?

It will never have optical zoom, because it has no way to move the lens. Digital zoom is worthless; you can achieve the same result by cropping with a photo editor after after transferring to your computer, and have more control over what you zoom in on than you do with the camera.

  • Pan and Zoom Extending Photo Duration in Premiere Elements 11

I am new to using PE11, but have been using older versions of PE for many years. In years past, after setting up my photos with voiceover and getting the transitions in, I have used keyframes to create pan and zoom effects. In 11 though, this function no longer appears to work so I am trying to use the Pan and Zoom tool. While easy to use, it is messing with the length of my photos. I already have the photos timed just right with my voiceover, so I need the length of time they are shown to stay the same. I can't figure out how to do this in the pan and zoom tool and everything I find online with this issue is with older versions of PE so the advice given isn't helping. If I'm able to use keyframes, that would be great too - but I'm not seeing how to add them under the Applied Effects tool.
If anyone is able to help me, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm on a very tight deadline for work and was not expecting PE11 to be so different from previous versions!

With Premiere Elements 11 and 12, the photo that is panned and zoomed with its Pan and Zoom Tool is characterized by increased duration. It is what it is.
If you want to pan and zoom a photo using keyframing of the Motion properties of Scale (for Zoom) and Position (for Pan), then you would need to use Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/ Motion Panel expanded and its Scale and Position properties there in association with Toggle Animation icon.
The shorter version of the Motion Panel Expanded looks like
To get the view where you can see the keyframes, click on the stop watch icon to the far right of the line with title Applied Effects.
    Then you will see
Are you now on more familiar ground to move forward with your keyframing of the Scale and Postion properties for your
    photo pans and zooms?
Please review and let me know if you are OK with the details.

  • Still pictures zoom in and out

i am trying to make a movie with all still pictures. when i play the movie each photo zooms in then out but i dont want it to do that. i want each picture to stay still

What you see is the Ken Burns effect. See this video tutorial on how to change the way a still picture is displayed:
    http://www.apple.com/es/ilife/tutorials/#imovie-photos
You can select the default cropping action (Fit/Crop/Ken Burns) for newly added stills to a project in the Project Properties.

  • Slideshow Troubles...how do you stop iMovie from zooming in and out?

My son is trying to make a movie from still photographs...a Lego-type movie. He is frustrated because iMovie keeps zooming in and out and up and down. Is there a way to import those photos without iMovie doing that?

Your son is using the "Ken Burns Effect" - actually, iMovie probably has the Ken Burns Effect set as the default for when new pictures are added. You can change this two ways: 1) Change it in Project Properties. 2) Change it picture-by-picture by using the Rotate/Crop/Ken Burns Tool.
In either case, FIT makes the photo fit into the current aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9) by letterboxing (black bars) if necessary. CROP makes the photo fit into the current aspect ratio by cutting off part of the photo if necessary. Ken Burns produces a motion effect that you can control by setting the starting and ending rectangles.

  • To use iPhone 4S and 5 take photo out focus usually, isn't the software problem?

Using iPhone 4S or 5 to take photo out focus usually!

Thank you, Courcoul. I will check out the Fast Camera and Blux Pro. They could come in handy for other photo-taking activities. However, I'm not sure it's going to solve my white-out-overexposure-blurry problem. Shouldn't we expect Apple's camera to work properly, without any special apps to make it behave for standard type stuff? Especially for the price we pay to own an Apple. It's a drag when you see a Samsung taking good pictures and zooming in without losing focus. I like your advice for other specialized apps, though. Much appreciated. And I will check into them.
If anyone can shed some light (no pun intended) on the over exposure white and out of focus issue with concert photos, I'd love to hear more suggestions. Thanks!!

  • I cannot zoom in or out in a Mozilla window running Adobe Flash.

I cannot zoom out (or in) in a Mozilla window running Adobe Flash. Ctrl+/- , Ctrl up/down and using the mousepad to zoom in or out (I have Win7), and holding Ctrl while scrolling does not work. I cannot zoom out more using Adobe Flash either.
I can change the zoom with windows with menu bars, but this one does not have one.

You can apply the Ken Burns effect by clicking on "Ken Burns" rather than Fit.
If you would like the Ken Burns to be able to go beyond the boundaries of the photo so you can zoom more, choose "Allow Black".

  • I want to remove all of my photos out of iPhoto there are approximately 35000 some imported from an old hard drive and a SD Card from my Nikon D500 how do I do this

I want to remove all of my photos out of iPhoto there are approximately 35000 some imported from an old hard drive and a SD Card from my Nikon D500 how do I do this?
    I have iPhoto version 9.1.5 (615)
    Mac OS X version 10.6.8
I want to do this because when I imported from my old hard drive there was an error message stating that 12 photos were not imported as the programm did not recognise the format even though they were jpegs like the other photos in that particular album. The dates of the photo folders are wrong I have multiple copies of photos and every time I start iPhoto I get the following message 12 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported would you like to import them No or Yes
if you press Yes the same message comes back again and if you press Yes again the program flicks to last import for 2 seconds and then opens events.
if you press No the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user/judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos then if you press OK the original message 12 photos have been found.............
if you press No at this point the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user /judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos_11 the end number goes up by 1 every time you go through this process
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
    For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.
