Zooming a photo

Hello,
I inserted a high definition photo in iVideo. I want to zoom in on a detail, but with Ken-Burns the zoom-in is very limited.
How can I zoom in to 5% of the area ?
Thanks,
Hubert

Select photo in the Project Browser on the timeline, then hit Letter "c" for the cropping editor. That will bring up a editing window over in the video preview area, just to the left of the Project Browser. If the Ken Burns effect is applied you will see red and green outline boxes indicating where the Zoom begins and ends. Green = Start, Red = End.
So how small can you squeeze the corner of the Red colored box? Can you squeeze it down to 5% of the total picture onto the detail you're trying to enlarge? I'm looking at it now and it definitely doesn't appear to be squeezing down anywhere close to 5%. Maybe 25% at most. Which means you might have to do a workaround and it may not appear all that smooth. Here's my work around.
Take that high def photo, and make 3 versions: 1. Full size 2. Zoomed in and cropped down to an area that's easy to duplicate using the Ken Burns red colored cropping box. 3. Zoomed in again to an even smaller, tighter area (the full 5% of the orignal image you want at the End of the Ken Burns effect).
In iMovie import all 3 images Big, Medium zoom, Tight detail zoom. Perform the Ken Burns effect on each one in order and you will possibly approximate the effect of doing the zoom in one continuous motion inside one single high definition photo using the Ken Burns effect. It's clunky for sure. But if you adjust and tweak it you might get the effect you are looking for.

When I zoom in on photo using iPhoto, how can I save the zoomed in photo please?  I would like a screen shot of my zoomed in photo - is this possible?.  Cropping doesn't give the same effect as zooming in and magnifying the photo.  Any help would be appreciated thank you.  I have an iMac

To take a screenshot of the zoomed photo, press either the key combination
⇧⌘3   for a screenshot of the full screen, or
⇧⌘4   to bring up a selection rectangle: select the section of the screen, that you want to save.
The screenshots will be sent to your desktop; drag them from there to the iPhoto icon in the Dock to import them.

  • Zooming one photo to compare to a second one in iPhoto

I have hunted in the Help screens, the iPhoto menus and these forums and haven't turned up an answer...
I want to take 2 photos, one of which was taken at 4x the zoom as the other when captured in the camera. In iPhoto I would like to be able to take the lower zoom photo and place it beside the zoomed in photo and then zoom in the first until it appears to give the same detail size as the second for comparison. Is this possible with iPhoto? (In Preview I can open each image side by side and just zoom one until it's detail is the same size as the other. In Graphic Converter I can open both images and zoom the first by 400% to make the detail appear the same size.)

    WebSalior:
If you select the two photos and click on the full screen button in the tool bar at the bottom of the iPhoto window (next to the keyword button) the two photos will open in full screen. Which ever photo you click on then will be able to be zoomed to any magnification you choose.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Pan and Zoom Extending Photo Duration in Premiere Elements 11

I am new to using PE11, but have been using older versions of PE for many years. In years past, after setting up my photos with voiceover and getting the transitions in, I have used keyframes to create pan and zoom effects. In 11 though, this function no longer appears to work so I am trying to use the Pan and Zoom tool. While easy to use, it is messing with the length of my photos. I already have the photos timed just right with my voiceover, so I need the length of time they are shown to stay the same. I can't figure out how to do this in the pan and zoom tool and everything I find online with this issue is with older versions of PE so the advice given isn't helping. If I'm able to use keyframes, that would be great too - but I'm not seeing how to add them under the Applied Effects tool.
If anyone is able to help me, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm on a very tight deadline for work and was not expecting PE11 to be so different from previous versions!

With Premiere Elements 11 and 12, the photo that is panned and zoomed with its Pan and Zoom Tool is characterized by increased duration. It is what it is.
If you want to pan and zoom a photo using keyframing of the Motion properties of Scale (for Zoom) and Position (for Pan), then you would need to use Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/ Motion Panel expanded and its Scale and Position properties there in association with Toggle Animation icon.
The shorter version of the Motion Panel Expanded looks like
To get the view where you can see the keyframes, click on the stop watch icon to the far right of the line with title Applied Effects.
    Then you will see
Are you now on more familiar ground to move forward with your keyframing of the Scale and Postion properties for your
    photo pans and zooms?
Please review and let me know if you are OK with the details.
Also, my blog post on Pan and Zoom Tool might be of interest.

Hi. I just upgraded to Aperture 3.5.1 and I am unable to zoom pictures [go to the Viewer] by double-clicking [an Image in the Browser] ... is this normal? Thank you for your answers.
    Just translating (with Google's help).
No, it's not.  Someone may jump in with a suggestion.  At the least, close Aperture, reboot, and run Software Update.

    No.
I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

  • [SOLVED] SWF files are not working in Firefox 5.0.1. When visiting websites with 'zoom' on photos Forefox asks how to handle rather than just going to zoom

On previous versions of Firefox I was able to use the 'zoom' feature on photos at retail websites. This no longer works. (You can go to Territory Ahead as an example). Firefox asks what to do with the SWF file. There is no option to use Shockwave (I think this is a Shockwave file). Thanks for your help. Warren

Ooops. Never mind. I recently upgraded other programs and I no longer had the Shockwave player installed in my system. Reinstalled it and all if well.

I have just bought the ipod touch 5th generation. I have used the rear camera and zoomed in for the photo. However the photo taken by the camera is not the one shown on the screen. So for example I am taking a picture of the tree I zoom in on the leaves and the actual photo the camera takes is of the tree trunk. How do i fix this? I presume this is not normal? Any help would be appreciated

  • Zoom slider still doesn't zoom a photo to full screen

Several versions of iPhoto ago, the Zoom slider would zoom to fill the frame with one picture. Now the Zoom slider's largest zoom shows 4 pictures and 2 half pictures. Why not be able to zoom into one?
The workaround is to go into Edit, where one picture can fill the entire frame. But why should I need to go into edit to see a full picture?
The Zoom should zoom all the way to one photo.

    Try tap the space bar.
    Tap it again to revert

  • Photos app crashes when zooming some photos

Some photos synced from my iMac's iPhoto '11 library are crashing the Photos app on my iPad. The iPad displays these photos are blurry thumbnails, then when I zoom into them, it puts the play button on the photo, like it's a video. If I tap the photo or interact with it to go to the next photo, it will crash the Photos app.

  • Zoomed in photos pixelated or corrupt

With the October 2013 version of iPhoto, some images remain pixelated when you zoom in. Zooming out slightly causes the photo to appear corrupted. Other images briefly appear pixelated and then become clear as expected. These same images that appear pixelated/corrupt when imported into iMovie 10 appear corrupted or solid green and therefore unusable.
    Apple please help.

Without the dimensions of the affected photos it's hard to progress.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Turn Off Auto-zooming With Photo Leveling?

    Hello,
When I level, i.e. rotate, a photo with Aperture's leveling tool, the photo is automatically zoomed. This prevents me from making a crop outside the region that is automatically cropped by the zooming. Is there any way to turn this off? For now I am exporting to PS, rotating, and returning to Aperture, but this is quite cumbersome just to rotate the photo a bit. . .

I was going to say that somewhat less cumbersome would be to do a crop first (leaving extra space around it as much as possible) then rotating the crop (whcih is why you left that extra space) and finally re-cropping that.
However an interesting thing is that when you rotate within a crop it adjusts the content the fit thr crop as long as the rotated original is still in the crop... but when the rotation stars dropping parts of the image inside the crop the crop is shrunk to fit. So, no help here.
I can see why Aperture zooms though, it's just trying to keep a full rectangle of data. I thought it was pretty cool but you raise an interesting side-effect.

  • Zooming a photo out

    Hi all,
I want to add an effect to my photo gallery page, similar to the one Apple have at their site. What I want to do is to have the thumbs on my page and when a photo is clicked a small window with the photo pops out and the background page become gray.
Can it be done using iWeb?
    Thanks,

Ziv ~ What you describe sounds characteristic of Lightbox. For how to integrate it into iWeb sites, _this page_ may help.
